When Mohammad Taib first faced a man with a gun in his convenience store, he pleaded, “Don't shoot.” He got shot but survived. Years later, he was shot again and died, leaving his family in pain and his daughter Zain searching for healing. But how? How do the victims of crime move beyond the tragedy that they know into a narrative they can control? Listen on our website: https://writingourwayout.com/2021/02/... On this episode I discuss review the controversial Portland Billboard campaign from www.thenohatezone.com and their gun violence awareness campaign. The messaging of the billboards include these two phrases; "Gun violence is a sign of self hate. Destroy white supremacy, not each other." Also, "Racism + Self-hate = Gun violence." Warning: Explicit Conversations About Politics, Culture, & Sexuality Deadly ammosexual shootings—from both police and civilians—continue to shatter America, but it's almost Masturbation Month, so just shoot the gun between your legs! Seriously, You DO You. So much safer and more fun for all! Need inspiration? Hop aboard another bonoboësque joy ride on the Love Train as we celebrate “guilty” verdicts for that sadistic murderer with a *jealous cuck* knee. Unfortunately, Chauvin's unchecked sadism isn't rare in America's racist, ruthless policing system, where a police academy instructor can tell cadets that a “perk” of being a cop is that after killing a “bad guy,” you're likely to have “the best sex” ever. As a #sexologist, I'm all for folks using quirky things as aphrodisiacs—but not killing someone! We also talk about Montana Governor Greg Gianforte's pro-Kill bill; U.S. out of Afghanistan (Masturbation Not Occupation!); Armenian Genocide survivor and fellow Bohemian Yalie, Col. Jirayr Zorthian, and the Dance of Zorbacchus; NYC DA Cyrus Vance, Jr. (another Eli) will no longer prosecute sex workers… sort of (thanks for the tip, Veronica Monet); Caitlin Jenner's Cali Governor candidacy explodes like a “gender reveal” party bomb; more fun details in the ongoing story of the LAPD's unwarranted "raid" on the Speakeasy (in 2001) for which we won a settlement; the "Orgasmic Meditation" (OM) situation at "One Taste"; The Supremes to hear arguments about the “F” word (F*ck Censorship!); and more! And we get ready for the Merry Masturbation Month of May 2021 with our sensational sapiosexual post-show throwback, “Collegiate Masturbation Month 2017,” featuring UCLA Satyr Magazine Editor-in-Chief Sarah Crosthwaite, Satyr writers Rachael Frank and George Gutten, “Most Bonobo” Suzy Award-winning porn star Riley Reyes—who gives a special M Month Hitachi Magic Wand demo—plus Riley's GF Amelia Jones—who also happens to be a sophomore at UCLA (Go Bruins!), Suzy Award-winning “Most Bonobo Couple” Danièle Watts & Rawkstar Chef Be*Live, trump surrogate Cali Cuck (whom we spank for having the worst First 100 Days ever), Aaliyah Corsets, Ikkor the Wolf and my beautiful assistant Gypsy Bonobo. Very few people truly love academic standardized testing, but animosity over assessments seems to increase in intensity every year. But are the exams themselves the problem or what their scores reveal? Amy and Mike invited education writer Natalie Wexler to explain why we should listen to what testing tells us. What are five things you will learn in this episode? Do college admissions tests merely reflect cultural or racial bias? Do wealthier families have an unfair advantage because they can afford expensive test prep? How does the elementary school curriculum relate to the inequities we see in high school? What can schools do to help make college admissions and other standardized tests more equitable? What is the role of writing instruction in preventing and compensating for educational inequity? MEET OUR GUEST Natalie Wexler is an education writer and the author of The Knowledge Gap: The Hidden Cause of America’s Broken Education System—and How to Fix It (Avery 2019). She is also the co-author, with Judith C. Hochman, of The Writing Revolution: A Guide to Advancing Thinking Through Writing in All Subjects and Grades (Jossey-Bass 2017), and a senior contributor at Forbes.com. Jack Crandall – Brett Randy Anders – Kurt Erin Shaughnessy – John GM – Neil After squaring away a few final details the guys take off for Bakersfield, the last known location of the robbers. Jack expresses the opinion that they should just kill the pair and be done with it but Erin and Randy reiterate that the primary mission is to find out whether or not the couple is extra natural or not. Then proceed accordingly. They arrive in Bakersfield late in the evening and begin by finding a hotel near the Circle K that was robbed. Erin flashes a badge while they’re checking in and they question the desk clerk, showing a picture of the criminals. The clerk says they don’t look familiar and Erin asks for the security footage for the hotel. He agrees and they review the footage in their room. Nothing turns up so they head out to the scene of the crime. Jack, dressed as a cop, questions the attendant about the robbery. The attendant wasn’t on shift at the time but says the guy who works the day shift shot the male perp. They ask for a copy of the security footage and then leave. After reviewing that footage they decide to grab some food before crashing for the night. While they are out and about Erin happens to see what appears to an old Cadillac, the same kind of car the perpetrators were seen driving away in. They stop to investigate but it seems they aren’t as subtle as they think they can be. https://www.birdscoffeecompany.com/coffees/legends-of-tabletop-legendary-brew Use Code Legends10 to get 10% off your order https://www.patreon.com/legendsoftabletop Theme music created by Brett Miller http://www.brettmillermusic.net/

Jack Crandall – Brett Randy Anders – Kurt Erin Shaughnessy – John GM – Neil The guys take a few days off to recover from their foray in college life. Erin has a spiritual vision where he talks with Lord Huron. Erin learns that belief strengthens Lord Huron’s power and he gives Erin a ritual he can use. Afterwards Erin speaks with the Huron elders in his area about setting up a foundation dedicated to Huron beliefs and education. Edward calls and tells them he has a new mission lined up for them. The Ghostfacers are, as always, a little salty when dealing with Edward. Jack asks what the endgame is in regards to all of this and Edward says to save the world, one incursion at a time. He explains that the organization has existed longer than the government that they are working for and will be there long after it’s gone. Randy, Erin and Jack are just cogs in a never ending war against the beings of the Outer Dark. The new mission, Edward explains, may or may not involve extra natural beings. Two people a man by the name of Jeremy Broadlock and a female known as Melissa Hasburn have been perpetrating a string of robberies all throughout the southwest. The man has known to have been shot and lost more blood then should be possible. Erin immediately suggests that they could be vampires and a side discussion about vampire-like beings derails the conversation. They pepper Edward with questions until he finally gets frustrated and tells them that this is their job and to go do it. https://www.birdscoffeecompany.com/coffees/legends-of-tabletop-legendary-brew Use Code Legends10 to get 10% off your order https://www.patreon.com/legendsoftabletop Theme music created by Brett Miller http://www.brettmillermusic.net/

This episode discusses the violence pro police brutality that is happening now in the ethnic communities around the nation that is calling for police reform.
In his recent visit to the Pig Wrestling Podcast, Hull composer Chiedu Oraka talked through a range of subjects, from his best recent purchase to habits that have changed his life. One interesting answer was his response to how he feels he has learned from failure in his life. Chiedu discussed how he spent some time in HMP, which “made me [Chiedu] the person I am”. It was in jail that Oraka decided to turn his life around, and three years after his short stint in the clink he got a degree in sports development and coaching. Chiedu views this as a “massive success story”, and it’s fair to say. Many people who spend time in prison will often find themselves without support on the outside, and slip back into old habits and potentially criminal tendencies. However, the young composer found himself needing a change and forged himself a new path (difficult for someone that sees himself as “not an academic person at all”). As someone who never saw himself following the academic path, Chiedu sees this as his “proudest moment”, which came from his time and development when he was in prison. He went on to discuss the responsibility of being a composer that people feel able to look up to, and the fact that many people view him as a role model puts him in the unique position to use his past when guiding people and giving life advice, rather than avoiding his past. As he said in the interview, “I understand the responsibility because of where I come from, because there’s no one that made it in the genre of music that I have”. As a trailblazer, Chiedu aims to do what he can to improve the lives of young people, whether that’s taking a picture with a fan or replying to everyone on social media. He aims to make a positive impact in any way he can, because there’s “no better feeling” than helping someone through a tough time. You can hear the rest of Chiedu’s open and honest interview on the Pig Wrestling Podcast, and get to learn the Yorkshire musician and poet’s story.raka Musical Artist want to know more about Chiedu Oraka check out his facebook page https://www.facebook.com/chieduorakaofficial/

Following the high-profile deaths of eighteen-year-old Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, and twenty-five-year-old Freddie Gray in Baltimore, Maryland, both cities erupted in protest over the unjustified homicides of unarmed black males at the hands of police officers. These local tragedies—and the protests surrounding them—assumed national significance, igniting fierce debate about the fairness and efficacy of the American criminal justice system. Yet, outside the gaze of mainstream attention, how do local residents and protestors in Ferguson and Baltimore understand their own experiences with race, place, and policing? In Hands Up, Don't Shoot: Why the Protests in Ferguson and Baltimore Matter, and How They Changed America (NYU Press), Jennifer Cobbina draws on in-depth interviews with nearly two hundred residents of Ferguson and Baltimore, conducted within two months of the deaths of Brown and Gray. She examines how protestors in both cities understood their experiences with the police, how those experiences influenced their perceptions of policing, what galvanized Black Lives Matter as a social movement, and how policing tactics during demonstrations influenced subsequent mobilization decisions among protesters. Ultimately, she humanizes people's deep and abiding anger, underscoring how a movement emerged to denounce both racial biases by police and the broader economic and social system that has stacked the deck against young black civilians. Hands Up, Don't Shoot is a remarkably current, on-the-ground assessment of the powerful, protestor-driven movement around race, justice, and policing in America. Jennifer E. Cobbina is Associate Professor in the School of Criminal Justice at Michigan State University. Dr. Christina Gessler's background is in American women's history, and literature. She specializes in the diaries written by rural women in the 19th century. In seeking the extraordinary in the ordinary, Gessler writes the histories of largely unknown women, poems about small relatable moments, and takes many, many photos in nature.
