In this hilarious, in-depth episode of the SuperHero Homies! podcast, we dive deep into Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007)—the third entry in our full Fantastic Four movie review series leading up to Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four: First Steps this July!
Director Alex Marcus and Pop Break Editor in Chief Bill Bodkin are taking another step into the wider Marvel Multiverse as the MCU dives deeper into their Multiverse Saga.Bill & Alex spent all of 2022 rewatching the first four phases of the MCU, and, in the years since, they have covered all of Netflix's The Defenders Saga, the first four seasons of ABC's Agents of SHIELD, and all 14 films in Fox's X-Verse.Now they are diving into their Marvel Zombies Era, where they run down some of Marvel Entertainment's most notable and notorious films featuring characters the MCU would later reclaim! This month, it's all about Blade as they discuss 1998's Blade, 2002's Blade II and 2004's Blade: Trinity. Alex & Bill tackles the high highs and low lows of Marvel's most fearsome daywalker, including why Wesley Snipes still owns the mantle nearly 30 years after his debut, how the franchise balances 90s cheese with Snipes' effortlessly cool take on the character, and why Alex thinks Trinity is one of the worst films they've ever covered on the show. They also discuss whether Mahershalia Ali's Blade will ever happen and what they'd like to see from the project if it ever sees the light of day. Plus, they give their first thoughts on Thunderbolts* and that New Avengers reveal!Come back next month for their installment of their Marvel's Zombie Era, featuring reviews of 2005's Fantastic Four, 2007's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, and 2015's Fantastic Four (all available on Disney+)!

The team's back and shinier than ever! In this high-energy aftershow, Eric dives into Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007) — the sequel that brings big cosmic shifts, Johnny's wild power trip, and a surprisingly emotional Silver Surfer arc. Is this movie underrated? Could the Surfer return to the MCU? And is Galactus really just a cloud?
This week's FRANCHISOGRAPHY digs deep into one of the most infamous comic book movies in all of nerd history, a film that manages to whittle down a three part masterpiece of sequential art into a 90-something minute comedy and reduces … Continue reading →
Rob and Jason jump directly into the Fantastic Four sequel. They basically wish they didn't, but alas, they watch crap so you don't have to. It's 2007's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
This week we look at the movie that was based on the “Galactus Trilogy” of Fantastic Four #48-50, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. How does it stand up against the comics, and against the 2005 film? How do we feel about Galactus being a cloud of smoke? Does Doom finally have a real plan … Continue reading #839 The Fantastic Four on Film: “Rise of the Silver Surfer” (2007)
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer is a visually engaging but ultimately underwhelming sequel that struggles to elevate its superhero storytelling. As the 16th entry in our “Marvel before the MCU” series, the film introduces the enigmatic Silver Surfer and features impressive CGI, but is bogged down by a weak script, underdeveloped characters, and a lackluster portrayal of Galactus. ----more---- Thank you so much for listening! One of the most famous Fantastic Four stories is the “Galactus Trilogy” from Fantastic Four 48-50 in 1966. This story has been adopted more than once, including in the 1990s FF cartoon, and in 2007's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Cry pretty, Jessica! This is the conclusion of our cosmic journey through Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Once again, we are detained in, escape from, and participate in the destruction of a government facility. The Silver Surfer bonds with a human woman. Johnny has all the powers. Hasbro hallucinates a different movie. Come back next week for episode #10 — Green Lantern!
The gods play Calvinball with the universe. Sue has lady concerns, Reed has bad news about Altair 7, and Chris Evans has a destiny. Look out for the thrilling conclusion in Act 3, coming later this week!
Danny and guest Becca Petunia of The Daily Fantastic discuss the 2007 sequel foisted on the world without our consent, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer! Act 1 is the wedding spectacular, including a terrible bachelor party, a demanding bride and absolutely no surprising dialogue. Meanwhile, a mysteriously tight-lipped silver figure heralds the coming of Galactus, by digging holes and not talking to anybody. Look out for Act 2 and Act 3 coming later this week!
The conclusion of our Ant-Man: Quantumania episode! Kang doesn't have a constituency. Jeff Loveness doesn't understand conquerors, socialism or story structure. It all ends in a big dumb fistfight. Come back next week for episode #9 — Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer!
Was this sequel as big of a flop as 2007 made it out to be? True Believers rise up! We are surfing our way through our April coverage of the Fantastic Four with… Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer! Joining your host, Damon, and harold-ing the end of all things are: Cassie Grilley and Andrew Knox. As we wait for Galactus (like we wait for Gadot) we ponder: - How does The Thing's eyes work? - Does Chris Evan's have too much to do, or too little? - How do you pronounce the name: Ioan Grufford? All that plus we ask: CAN ANYBODY SEE THE INVISIBLE WOMAN? Not the screenwriter. Tune in for a discussion of a movie that will make you wish the world was devoured by a planet eating monster. But the podcast is still as funny as ever. Listen. Subscribe. Kerry Washington. It's time for the movie of the century! We're starting Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. So far, it's got all the worst qualities of Fantastic Four, with none of the charm! Our precious Stan Lee is here, of course, but they threw him off the roof for confusing reasons! Jeez! They can't let us have anything. Sam | Val | Gigalithic Twitter | Cohost

The forces that made them fantastic, will give rise to a new power, and nothing will ever be the same. Superhero month wraps up as Claire & Michael discuss a Marvel sequel from before Marvel was making ALL the sequels. Hold on to your superpowers, it's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer! At time of recording Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer is available to stream on Disney+. The original Fantastic Four movie from 2005 isn't though, because the rights ownership on these movies is a hot mess.
We're back with the second part of our Fantastic Double Feature! Kelen Conley is here again, and this week we're revisiting Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, which is the best FF movie to date...although that's not saying much. We discuss the things that really work in this movie, how Doom is still the greatest weakness, and why the Galactus cloud actually made sense (for the time).Check out Kelen's links for more about his podcastsHelp support the show by buying or renting this movie on AmazonWant to tell us what you think?
