Coincidentally commemorating the 9 year anniversary of what's been dubbed one of the worst superhero movies ever made, we watched Josh Trank's 2015 mega-flop Fantastic Four a.k.a. Fant4stic this week. Doomed from the start by the competing forces of a hot young director and a studio trying to compete with the media conglomerate that will buy them two years later, the resulting attempt to reboot the Fantastic Four into darker, Cronenbergian territory was not so fantastic. It's stinks actually, but who's really to blame? Josh Trank? Fox? Kate Mara's wig? At long last, we have completed this ridiculous project of ours! The Bladetastic Era of Zero to Zero has come to an end, and nothing could be more appropriate than the trash ending Fant4stic gave us. The Fantastic Four finally team up for the first time in this movie, but will it be better than their single team attack in the 2005 movie? Well, it depends if you even count this one as a team attack! Ah, well. It's mostly just a shame that we never got to meet Doctor Doom! We crack open the second half of season 2 by tackling the other, non-50-Shades film that co-won Worst Picture at the 2015 Golden Raspberries, Josh Trank's Fantastic Four (or is it Fant4stic?). We cover the history of film adaptations of Marvel's First Family, from the rights-hoarding Roger Corman attempt to this most recent version. Director Josh Trank, hot off of his indy superhero film, Chronicle, was tapped to direct Fox's latest attempt to hang onto the rights of Marvel's Fantastic Four characters! It seemed like a no-brainer as his Chronicle movie was similar to FF in many respects, a small group of friends accidentally encounter alien material that grants them fantastic abilities...some use their new powers for good and some for evil. Sound familiar??? Somehow, it all went south...this movie is a mess and all the booze in the world could not make it any better!

When Fox decided to reboot the Fantastic Four franchise in 2015, they took the characters in a whole new direction. Instead of a bright, light-hearted superhero adventure, director Josh Trank looked to the body horror movies of David Cronenberg for inspiration. The studio panicked in the 11th hour and rewrote the last act of the movie, and the finished product is just as weird as you would expect based on these creative decisions. With just a 9% on Rotten Tomatoes, this is the worst reviewed movie we have covered yet!
