You know him from The Shield, The Commish, Winning Time, Fantastic Four and countless other TV & film projects. He has a new hit movie that just hit theaters, The Senior, where he plays Mike Flynt, a 59 year old who returns to college football to confront the past and change his future. And do to some unforseen circumstances, we learned he has a dog named Tom Brady. We like Michael Chiklis regardless. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

No one is being silenced on this podcast and we are keeping free speech going by reviewing 11 films this week. Erik Childress and Steve Prokopy go back to last year's Fantastic Fest to revisit Alexandre O. Phillippe's latest essay on The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Chain Reactions). Mike Figgis goes behind the scenes of Francis Ford Coppola's passion project (Megadoc) and there's another documentary on a filmmaker who would probably be making ones for the Trump Administration today (Riefenstahl). In lighter fare, a virginal Lily Singh becomes a sex-ed professor (Doin' It) and Josh Duhamel trains a LARPer to become a hitman (London Calling). Someone is killing babysitters again (Night of the Reaper) and Neil Marshall makes his funniest film (it's not a comedy) (Compulsion). Billy Zane morphs into an iconic actor living in Tahiti (Waltzing with Brando), Lily James plays one of the founders of Tinder (Swiped) and Michael Chiklis plays a 59 year-old college football player (The Senior). Finally, we have an early review of the latest film from Paul Thomas Anderson which is the timeliest film to ever deserve that term (One Battle After Another).4:10 - Chain Reactions14:12 - Riefenstahl19:47 - Megadoc31:18 - The Senior38:47 - Night of the Reaper44:13 - Doin' It50:37 - Swiped57:22 - Compulsion1:05:58 - Waltzing with Brando1:14:43 - London Calling1:21:32 - One Battle After AnotherCLICK ON THE FILMS TO RENT OR PURCHASE AND HELP OUT THE MOVIE MADNESS PODCASTBe sure to check outErik's Weekly Box Office Column – At Rotten TomatoesCritics' Classics Series – At Elk Grove Cinema in Elk Grove Village, ILChicago Screening Schedule - All the films coming to theaters and streamingPhysical Media Schedule - Click & Buy upcoming titles for your library.(Direct purchases help the Movie Madness podcast with a few pennies.)Erik's Linktree - Where you can follow Erik and his work anywhere and everywhere. The Movie Madness Podcast has been recognized by Million Podcasts as one of the Top 100 Best Movie Review Podcasts as well as in the Top 60 Film Festival Podcasts and Top 100 Cinephile Podcasts. “What do pumpkin seeds, Joan Rivers, and Sean Penn have in common?”They all make surprising appearances in this nostalgic, hilarious, and unexpectedly informative episode of The JB and Sandy Show. Sandy kicks things off with a trip down memory lane, revisiting the pop culture giants of 1985—from Michael Jordan's rookie season to Madonna and Sean Penn's paparazzi-fueled beach wedding. Tricia and Sandy even share a surreal moment when they found themselves face-to-face with Sean Penn in a New York elevator. Then it's on to the “Things We're Into” segment, where JB drops a protein-packed bombshell: pumpkin seeds have more protein than beef. The trio shares their favorite snacks, including Tricia's obsession with Little Debbie cherry pies and Sandy's love for the Kardashian salad (don't knock it till you try it).Notable Quotes:“Sean Penn looked at me like he knew me—maybe he thought I was Michael Chiklis.”“Pumpkin seeds have 32 grams of protein. More than beef. Who knew?”“Joan Rivers had a card catalog of jokes. That's next-level comedy organization.”“If you lose me in the grocery store, check the Little Debbie aisle.” Call to Action: If you laughed, learned something new, or Googled “how much protein is in pumpkin seeds,” don't forget to subscribe, leave a review, and share The JB and Sandy Show with your friends. A new FANTASTIC FOUR is in theaters today, and we thought it was a perfect time to dip into the archives and revisit the one from 2005. It was a simpler time, when budgets were lower, needle drops were more plentiful and the MCU was still three years away, but there's still some charm in this mid-aughts Marvel movie. Listen separately or watch along as we talk through the Tim Story-directed superhero opus starring Ioan Gruffud, Jessica Alba, Michael Chiklis and a pre-Captain America Chris Evans!

This week on Comics and Chronic we discuss the 2005 Fantastic Four movie! With a star studded cast including Chris Evans, Jessica Alba, Loan Gruffudd, Michael Chiklis, and Julian McMahon this might be the gold standard, or only standard, for Fantastic Four casting. Early 2000's Marvel appears to be very anti-corporate sentiment. Does this movie actually deserve the hate it gets? Epically when it's way better than the 2015 Fantastic 4. However, this movies does have its flaws such as reducing Sue Storm to mere eye candy when she's not even that kind of character in the comics. Jake would sell out Anthony & Cody to be with Jessica Alba. Why is this Dr. Doom just Electro from Amazing Spider-Man 2? This movie does have a banger soundtrack. Is there a cool way to do Mr. Fantastic's powers? Once the movie starts to find its footing it ends. Is it past time we discuss the Thomas Jane Punisher? The cheesy vibe of the movie matches the energy of FF. Should Reed Richards be called Mr. Cucktastic? The Fantastic 4 is really a reflection of the dynamic of us on the podcast. Camp Nowhere is a 90's classic that gave one of the us our earliest boners. Tune in today to find out who!New episodes every THURSDAYFollow us on social media!
