In this episode of The Empowering Story Podcast, trauma recovery coach and author Jean Dorff explores one of the quietest—and most misunderstood—truths about healing: peace is not a destination, it's a pace. Drawing from years of work with survivors of sexual abuse, Jean shares how trauma fractures the body's natural rhythm and teaches us to live in a constant state of vigilance. He unpacks what happens when control becomes mistaken for safety—and how the first real signs of healing appear when the body is finally allowed to relax you, instead of you trying to relax it. Through stories, science, and lived experience, Jean reveals why creative expression restores agency, how peace hides inside the smallest bodily rhythms, and why one completed breath can hold more healing power than years of effort. This episode is a meditation on letting go of striving—and learning to move at the speed of trust. Key Themes Peace as a Pace, Not a Place – Why peace isn't something to chase, but a rhythm to remember. The Body's Natural Tempo – How trauma interrupts the body's sequence of beginning, middle, and end—and how to restore it. From Control to Coherence – Understanding the shift from managing life to participating in it. Creation Restores Agency – How creative acts, large or small, reawaken authorship in a body that's learned only to react. One Breath to Begin Again – The power of a single full exhale to remind the body of its own music. Key Quote “Peace doesn't arrive because we chase it. It arrives because we match its rhythm.” Takeaway You don't have to work harder to find peace. You have to let peace find its way back into your rhythm—one breath, one movement, one story at a time. About Jean Dorff Jean Dorff is a trauma recovery coach, author, and founder of The Empowering Story—a program helping survivors of sexual abuse reclaim their voices through embodied healing and narrative transformation. His work integrates somatic practices with structured storytelling, guiding survivors to move beyond survival into creation and coherence.
This talk explores the simple yet profound practice of using the breath as an anchor for awareness. In a world where distraction and stress pull us in countless directions, the breath is always available as a doorway back into presence. Drawing from the Buddha's teachings on mindfulness of breathing and weaving in reflections from daily life, we'll look at how one conscious breath at a time can ground us, reveal our inner state, help us transform reactivity, and open us to freedom in the present moment. You'll learn how to return to the breath as a reliable home base, how the breath mirrors both body and mind, and how conscious breathing can transform patterns of stress into calm awareness. We'll also explore how the breath reveals impermanence and points us toward liberation. With stories, teachings, and reflections, this talk will offer practical ways to deepen your practice and remind you that awakening is as close as your next breath.

In this episode, Amir Zoghi and Christina Tindale go behind the scenes of Amir's Training Leadership and Coaching (TLC) program to explore how powerful coaching and leadership begin with deep personal awareness. They unpack the idea that great coaches don't just guide others—they embody the work themselves. Through the “learn, do, teach” method, Amir shares how coaching others becomes a mirror, taking you further into your own growth and self-realization.The conversation redefines TLC not just as a program, but as a mindset: tender loving care. Amir and Christina discuss how true transformation happens when coaches create safe, present, and grounded spaces for clients—and how that starts with learning to do the same for themselves. They also explore the importance of breaking free from unconscious patterns to enter a state of flow, and Amir shares the story behind his unique breathwork technique, The One Breath, and how it supports this process.

Story: Strange Truths Author: Leyla Harrison Rating: Explicit Site link: http://fluky.gossamer.org/display.php?StrangeTruths Read by: kristinsauter Summary:Personal Disclaimer and Spoilers: post-Gethsemane. Tiny spoilers for Memento Mori and One Breath. I could spend all summer writing explanations for how Chris Carter is going to get himself out of *this* one, but I would rather not. Special Note: I'm kind of vague in this story about what has happened to Mulder - I've done that on purpose so I have something to write about for the rest of the summer. This story instead has Scully dealing with the spread of her cancer. I seem to be a bit obsessed with the cancer angle at the moment - forgive me. It's a personal thing; I've been sick with it myself lately. I watch Gillian Anderson portray Scully, who lately has been the absolute strongest woman on television, and I am in awe. In the meantime, I'm trying to get back to the smut I am known for. Anyhow - there's a bit of sexual activity and also some introspection here. A few words of advice: if you're looking for a story to cheer you up, go look somewhere else. ***Every effort was made to reach out to this author for permission but we weren't able to make contact.
