This short overview is reproduced from the Grandmasters of Geopolitics Telegram channel, with thanks. From his student days onwards, Ayatollah Khamenei's life story was interwoven with the history of modern Iran. In the 1960s and 70s, Ali Khamenei was arrested six times by the shah's secret police, Savak, enduring torture and internal exile. These years of underground resistance solidified his revolutionary credentials. Meanwhile, his experience on the frontlines of the US-backed 1980-88 Iran-Iraq war strengthened his antipathy and mistrust towards US imperialism. ------------------------------------------------ Subscribe! Præsteregimet massakrerede iranerne i januar.

SCHEDULE THE JOHN BATCHELOR SHOW, 5-5-2026.1920 HONG KONG1/16: Liz Peek discusses the strong American economy, noting low unemployment and an AI-driven boom despite oil price spikes from the Iran war. While concerns about plummeted savings exist, record stock market highs and a robust labor market sustain growth. Peek also addresses political resistance to AI development.2/16: Liz Peek reflects on the successful American visit of King Charles III and Queen Camilla, noting the public's rehabilitated view of the royal couple. Despite past controversies, their visit reaffirmed the special relationship, and American affection for the British monarchy remains strong, reflected in high television ratings.3/16: Grant Newsham explores Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's diplomatic mission to Vietnam and Australia to counter Chinese aggression. Takaichi is shifting Japan from purely economic influence toward a professional military posture. This approach is welcomed by Southeast Asian nations facing maritime bullying from China.4/16: Rich Goldberg outlines a "blockade plus" strategy to bankrupt the Iranian regime by cutting off oil and petrochemical revenues. This economic pressure aims to spark internal fractures and popular uprisings. Goldberg also advocates for expanding Middle Eastern pipeline infrastructure to bypass the Strait of Hormuz permanently.5/16: Ivana Stradner reports that Vladimir Putin is living in a bunker, fearing a coup as he loses on the battlefield. To maintain control, the Kremlin has implemented severe internet blackouts and banned Western social media. Stradnersuggests the West should provide Russians with more VPN systems.6/16: Ivana Stradner discusses how American jazz symbolizes freedom and individualism, making it a threat to repressive regimes. Historically used as a "non-nuclear weapon" during the Cold War, jazz's improvisational nature counters state propaganda. She argues the U.S. should revitalize this tool to reach those lacking freedom.7/16: Hussein Abdul-Hussein introduces Ali al-Zaydi, a political newcomer nominated for Iraqi Prime Minister by the Shia coordination framework. Al-Zaydi, a wealthy contractor, follows a pattern where "no-ones" are chosen when powerful factions cannot agree. Iraqi voters are increasingly favoring patriots over pro-Iran candidates.8/16: Hussein Abdul-Hussein explains that the United States remains the biggest player in Iraq, wielding significant influence over leadership choices and economic policy. Washington is currently pushing to move Iraq from a cash-based to a digital economy to prevent Iran from siphoning funds and to ensure financial transparency.9/16: Gregory Copley highlights a major defense contract between Japan and Australia, involving the sale of Mogami-class frigates. The two nations are cooperating to bypass China's monopoly on rare earth processing and energy supply chains. This partnership builds on a long history of strategic trade.10/16: Gregory Copley examines the instability of Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso after their withdrawal from ECOWAS. The region faces increasing jihadist threats and government paranoia regarding French interference. Meanwhile, Chinese influence in Africa is weakening as Russia's African Corps remains active but limited.11/16: Gregory Copley reports that Iran is effectively under a military government led by General Vahidi, as Ayatollah Khamenei remains incapacitated. Simultaneously, China's Xi Jinping faces internal strife and energy shortages, while India maintains a strategic, non-aligned posture between the United States, Russia, and the People's Republic of China.12/16: King Charles III visited the United States and Bermuda, receiving bipartisan acclaim in Congress for his defense of constitutional checks and balances. Despite health concerns, the King successfully revitalized the special relationship and was lauded by a Bermuda rabbi for his family's historical protection of Jews. Gregory Copley reports.13/16: Thaddeus McCotter analyzes how high gasoline prices and economic disruptions from the Iran conflict influence midterm elections. He notes that while minority parties usually have messaging advantages, the lack of clear strategic military objectives and persistent inflation create significant uncertainty for American voters and global markets.14/16: Thaddeus McCotter argues that while Wall Street performs well, the average worker remains anxious about healthcare, interest rates, and student loans. He describes the current economy as fragile and warns that failing to address these underlying domestic anxieties could lead to political repercussions during the midterm elections.15/16: Jack Burnham details the rare extradition and indictment of a Chinese national, Mr. U, for state-sponsored hacking. Operating under "Silk Typhoon," the group targeted American COVID-19 research. This operation demonstrates China's strategy of using private actors to steal scientific excellence and prepare the digital battlefield.16/16: Jack Burnham discusses how Chinese commercial satellite firms provide the IRGC with high-resolution imagery to direct attacks against American assets. He differentiates this from the state-led surveillance of the Chinese balloon incident over U.S. missile silos, emphasizing China's broad campaign to disrupt American societal morale.

No Cooperation with the War Machine & Victory to Iran | Ranjeet Brar Interview | Ranjeet Brar' ( • No Cooperation with the War Machine & Vict... ) The war against Iran is a predatory war of imperialism, an extension of the genocide of Palestinians onto their greatest modern ally – the Iranian people. Iran is the central pillar of the axis of resistance and has been victim of sanctions for their resistance since 1979. Since the beginning of the war, it has become evidently clear that the US and Israel have greatly underestimated the capabilities of Iran. Their rush to assassinate the head of Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei, led them to believe that they could have a quick and easy war, but reality has become a nightmare. The American empire is crumbling and with it so too will their global terror. As Ranjeet Brar, general secretary of the party, says in this interview: No cooperation with the war machine! Welcome to Meaning-Making 101 where we explore the crisis of meaning in our world today, and how we may help usher in an awakening from it. In this episode of Meaning-Making 101, we expose THE LIE MACHINE — the sophisticated playbook The New York Times and legacy media use to manipulate coverage of the Iran war without ever technically lying. With  @JNS_TV  &  @meirakofficial  Host Meira K breaks the issue down down in devastating detail: manipulative headlines that trigger instant emotional reactions, clever half-truths that bury the real story, loaded language that humanizes terrorists, selective photos that hide Iranian celebrations and Israeli victims, and relentless repetition that rewires public opinion.Watch with us as we consider real examples, from the NYT's whitewashing of Ali Larijani to soft-focus obituaries for Ayatollah Khamenei and the deliberate erasure of the “Woman, Life, Freedom” protests, and learn exactly how the media shields Iran while framing Israel and the U.S. as the aggressors. This isn't just another media-bias rant. Trump, Netanyahu, Iran war, Strait of Hormuz, JD Vance, gas prices, Situation Room - Hawk covers the bombshell New York Times report by Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan detailing how Benjamin Netanyahu made a hard sell to Donald Trump in the White House Situation Room on February 11th, pitching a joint US-Israel military campaign against Iran. The pitch included regime change, destroying Iran's missile program, decapitating the Iranian regime by killing Ayatollah Khamenei, and a slideshow of potential secular replacement leaders - all assessed by U.S. intelligence as largely farcical. CIA Director John Ratcliffe called the regime change scenarios farcical. Marco Rubio translated that for Trump. General Dan Cain, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, raised serious concerns about missile stockpiles, the Strait of Hormuz, and the difference between tactics and strategy - but deferred to Trump. Pete Hegseth was fully on board. Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, two real estate developers with massive financial ties to Gulf states, were in the room influencing a decision to go to war. JD Vance - who was excluded from the February 11th pitch - was the only voice in the administration who forcefully warned Trump that this war would destroy his presidency, fracture his coalition, and betray the voters who believed in no new wars. He was right. Now the Strait of Hormuz has been closed for five weeks. U.S. military bases have been abandoned. Gas prices in the United States are up 40 percent - the largest single-month increase in recorded history. South Korea, Japan, Ireland, and the UK are facing fuel crises. Trump has now ordered the U.S. Navy to blockade the Strait of Hormuz after JD Vance's 15-hour ceasefire negotiations in Pakistan failed. Ayatollah Khamenei may have been killed, but the country and the revolution he gave his life for have emerged stronger than ever, and are steadily garnering the support and sympathy of workers and oppressed peoples the world over. If the peoples of the middle east continue to follow his firmly anti-imperialist path, then the days of Anglo-American domination of the region – and the lifespan of its local zionist and Gulf proxies – are surely numbered. Could the red-green alliance of Marxists and Islamists have been foretold in the book of Daniel? Bill shows where the Bible hints at an “Arab” kingdom set to rule in the last days before Jesus returns and reveals the connection between a broken covenant and the rise of the Islamic god. Glenn wonders how long until the tribulation, and Bill has a thoughtful answer for why so many Americans are questioning support for Israel and increasingly calling for a Palestinian state “from the river to the sea.” They examine the similarities between the Antichrist in the book of Revelation and the 12th imam of Islam, and Bill explains why it's not men like Ayatollah Khamenei who scare him — it's men like Zohran Mamdani.      GLENN'S SPONSORS: Chirp: Give your spine a break. Visit https://gochirp.com/beck, and use code “BECK” at checkout for a 10% discount.       PreBorn: Together we can end the tragedy of abortion, one mother and baby at a time. In this fascinating interview with nuclear expert Ankit Panda we discuss the escalating conflict following U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran and its implications for global nuclear deterrence. He argues that Iran's strategy appears aimed at regionalizing the conflict across the Gulf to generate diplomatic pressure, while questioning the credibility of claims about Iran's imminent nuclear weapons capability. We discussed:How the succession to Ayatollah Khamenei's more hardline son could alter Iran's longstanding restraint on both missile ranges and nuclear weaponization. The troubling lessons other nations (particularly U.S. adversaries like North Korea) may draw from Iran's fate (nuclear weapons provide the ultimate deterrent against regime change). How both adversarial and allied proliferation dynamics are re-surging in ways unseen since the Cold War, with countries from Seoul to Stockholm reconsidering their nuclear postures. Panda critiques last year's bombing campaign as ultimately counterproductive to nonproliferation goals, leaving 400 kilograms of highly enriched uranium unaccounted for and eliminating IAEA verification continuity. Despite the current trajectory, Panda maintains that any sustainable resolution to Iran's nuclear program will require diplomatic engagement—though achieving that will prove extraordinarily difficult given how recent events have validated North Korea's narrative about the risks of cooperation with the West.Bio: Ankit Panda is the Stanton Senior Fellow in the Nuclear Policy Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, where he focuses on nuclear strategy, escalation, missiles and missile defense, space security, and US alliances. He is the author of Kim Jong Un and the Bomb: Survival and Deterrence in North Korea and Indo-Pacific Missile Arsenals: Avoiding Spirals and Mitigating Risks, and his forthcoming book is The New Nuclear Age: At the Precipice of Armageddon. His work has appeared in outlets including the New York Times, the Economist, the Washington Post, Foreign Affairs, and the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, and he serves as editor-at-large at The Diplomat, where he hosts the Asia Geopolitics podcast.

Today marks ten days since the United States in a joint operation with Israel moved militarily to remove the threat of a nuclear Iran and those advancing such ideals. These ideals also included removing Israel from the face of the earth. Iran has put in place a new leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the now deceased Ayatollah Khamenei. Efforts continue to intensify even as Iran shoots off missiles and cluster bombs at Israel. Dr. Richard Schmidt provides an analysis of the matters unfolding and what really lies ahead for this region prophetically.

Ayatollah Khamenei is dead. President Trump just demanded unconditional surrender from Iran and warned the new Supreme Leader won't last long.In this explosive episode of The Right Side, Doug Billings breaks down why this is pure America First in action — not “another forever war.” Trump is finishing what weak presidents refused to do for 47 years.Over 3,000 targets destroyed. Seven American heroes honored. The regime that murdered thousands of its own people and hundreds of Americans is finally facing the end.Doug refutes the left, RINOs, and fake MAGA critics screaming that Trump “abandoned” the movement. This IS MAGA — peace through strength. He draws the powerful parallel to Ronald Reagan facing the Soviets and JFK during the Cuban Missile Crisis, reminding us that freedom isn't free.If you want straight talk with zero spin, this is the episode for you.

After the US-Israel attacks on Iran, surrounding countries have quickly been drawn into the war following retaliatory strikes by Iran. We hear from Turkey, Lebanon, Israel and Cyprus. The US-Israel attacks on Iran hit major cities across the country, destroying civilian buildings in Tehran, as well as military sites in Natanz and Isfahan. Many Iranians are now trying to flee the ongoing attacks by crossing into neighbouring countries. James Waterhouse reports from the Turkey-Iran border. There's a sense of déjà vu for the people of Lebanon who are once again forced to shelter after the militia group Hezbollah launched missiles and drones into Israel to avenge the killing of Ayatollah Khamenei. Israel replied with attacks on Hezbollah's Shia strongholds in the south. Wyre Davies has been in Beirut. Many of the missiles fired towards Israel failed to penetrate its Iron Dome defence system - but not all. Nine people died after a synagogue in Beit Shemesh was hit, penetrating the bomb shelter beneath it. Hugo Bachega reports from Tel Aviv. The strikes on Iran have had significant repercussions across the region, as Iran targets countries hosting US military bases. Cyprus was among those hit - a long-time base for the British RAF. Jessica Parker visited the base in Akrotiri. And a renowned restaurant in Berlin which cast itself as a symbol of breaking bread across religious and political divides has just gone out of business. Is it just another victim of rising rents and economic instability? Lucy Ash pulled up a chair as one of its last diners, just as news of another conflict broke.Producer: Serena Tarling Production coordinators: Katie Morrison Editor: Richard Fenton-Smith

SummaryClayton Cuteri traces the full chain of events that led to the current U.S. war with Iran, starting with Britain's control of Iranian oil in 1901 through Operation Ajax in 1953, the hostage crisis, the Iran-Iraq war, Clinton-era sanctions, and the JCPOA nuclear deal that was working until Trump withdrew in 2018. Clayton lays out exactly how this single decision triggered Iran's nuclear escalation, Israel's Operation Rising Lion, the assassination of Ayatollah Khamenei, and a war that has killed over 1,300 Iranians and 165 schoolgirls in a precision airstrike. Clayton exposes the real motivations behind the war: the petrodollar system and Iran's financial independence from the IMF and Western banking. He reveals the pattern connecting Iraq, Libya, Venezuela, and now Iran as countries targeted after abandoning the U.S. dollar for oil trade. The episode closes with a powerful spiritual framework connecting Israel's past-based thinking, Trump's future-based fear, and the only real solution: present-moment consciousness.BONUS: Clayton discusses some Indigo Education knowledge.Clayton's NewsletterJoin HereClayton's Social Media LinkTree | Instagram | X (Twitter) | YouTube | Rumble | FaceBookTimecodes 00:00 - Intro 01:53 - How Britain Stole Iran's Oil06:00 - The Original Sin: Operation Ajax11:00 - The Hostage Crisis and Reagan18:00 - The JCPOA Deal That Was Working24:00 - Operation Rising Lion and the War30:00 - 165 Schoolgirls Killed in a Precision Strike37:00 - The Petrodollar Pattern They Hide43:00 - Iran vs. the IMF and World Bank53:00 - The Spiritual Framework: Past, Future & PresentIntro/Outro Music Producer: Don Kin Instagram | Spotify Super grateful for this guy ^Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/traveling-to-consciousness-with-clayton-cuteri--6765271/support.Listen to the Podcast AD-FREE HERE for $4.95/monSign Up for my Newsletter HEREALL Indigo Education Podcasts HEREMy Book: The Secret Teachings of Jesus HEREOfficial Traveling to Consciousness Website HERE

Americans woke up on Saturday morning to news that Trump and Israel had bombed Iran, killing Ayatollah Khamenei along with top Iranian military leaders. Iran retaliated with missile and drone attacks on U.S. bases and allies in the region. Asha and Renato analyze Trump's inarticulate and circular reasons for launching the attack, what triggers the War Powers Resolution and how a president has “first-mover advantage” when it comes to taking the country to war. Then, Renato and Asha turn to the Trump administration's latest retaliatory moves at home: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's designation of Anthropic as a supply chain risk after the company refused to let its AI model be used for autonomous weapons or domestic mass surveillance, and the Justice Department's clumsy moves against four law firms that successfully challenged Trump's executive orders against them. Column (3/4/26) This week on CounterSpin: As a radio producer, you get pitches; to paraphrase one we got this week: Dear Janine, the United States and Israel launched attacks on Iranian military targets and leaders this weekend. Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei was killed, as were key Iranian leaders.  President Trump is urging Iranians to rise up and overthrow the regime…. What will the impact be on the economy? On Wall Street?  What does this mean for markets and investors going forward? We were then offered a guest who will tell listeners that “concerns about the attacks causing economic chaos are overblown…. The markets will panic initially and then stabilize.” And, most importantly, “this ends the uncertainty that was impacting the markets over Iran…. If American and Israeli objectives are met, it could lead to dramatically reduced gas prices long-term.” No mention of parents in Minab, who dropped their daughters off at school March 3 and now have to bury them. What's losing a child when we’re talking about you maybe—or maybe not—paying less at the pump, amirite? It would be one thing if it were a guy at the end of the bar, but we have official “smart people” news media instructing us on how we should think and feel about attacks—paid for with our sometimes important “tax dollars”—raining horror on Iranians whose crime is that they didn't overthrow their disapproved leadership. Ask yourself if you want that to be the criterion for violent aggression around the world. It's hard to parse US corporate news coverage of the attacks on Iran if you aren't willing to let go of the idea that might does not, in fact, make right—along with your ideas about what a better world could look like. That's why we grow our critical faculties, and support media outlets that, whatever else they do, don't tell us that the US and Israel killing Iranian children is just something to consume with your breakfast cereal. Gregory Shupak is an academic and activist, as well as author of The Wrong Story: Palestine, Israel and the Media from OR Books. This week, Scott sat down with his Lawfare colleagues Benjamin Wittes, Daniel Byman, and Ari Tabatabai for an in-depth discussion of the U.S. military operations against Iran, including:“Isn't it Iran-ic.” Trump's decision to join Israel in removing Ayatollah Khamanei reflects a deep reversal by the president, who has spent years criticizing his predecessors' own experiences with regime change and other overseas adventurism. What drove Trump to proceed this time, after stopping short twice in the past year? What can we learn from the way the Trump administration has proceeded? And how far will Trump let things go?“Bibi's Big Adventure.” Regime change in Iran is something Israel and the Arab Gulf states have advocated for frequently in the past. But they had all adopted a more cautious and even conciliatory posture toward Iran in the months before the current offensive, at least in public. How has the region approached this conflict? And what will it do moving forward?“MIGA.” The death of Ayatollah Khamenei is a major shift in Iran, but we don't know where it is going to lead. One concern that people have always had about regime change in Iran is that it will be highly destabilizing, resulting in a failed state in a crucial corner of the Middle East. On the other end, other people have asserted that removing the Ayatollah and his regime will give Iran the opportunity to flourish back into a democracy, or at least something closer to a state that's more stable and free than Iran has been for the last several decades. Between the two is a mass spectrum of possibilities. What does the future hold for Iran in the post-Ayatollah era, if that's the era that we're heading into?In object lessons, Ben is vibe-coding his way through Lawfare's litigation tracker, as well as vibing his way through The Rest is History's four-part series, Revolution in Iran. We examine what this means for Iran's internal stability and whether the Islamic Republic can reestablish command and control. Later in the show — Iran escalates further, launching drone strikes against the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia's capital. Today's Headlines: The U.S. and Israel launched Operation EPIC FURY, striking more than 1,000 targets across Iran. Iran retaliated widely, aiming at U.S. bases in the Gulf but also hitting civilian sites in Dubai, including the airport, the Burj Al Arab, and the Fairmont Palm Hotel. President Donald Trump said the U.S. sank nine Iranian warships, warned Americans to expect casualties and by Sunday, three U.S. service members were dead. In a major escalation, Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad were reported killed, along with dozens of senior officials. Iran then closed the Strait of Hormuz, which carries about 20% of global oil supply. Oil prices are projected to jump roughly 9% as markets reopen. Members of Congress from both parties are now pushing for a War Powers Act vote, noting they were not consulted before the strikes began. At the Pentagon, AI drama escalated. After asking how its model was used in a prior operation, Anthropic lost a $200 million federal contract and was labeled a “supply chain risk” by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. Within a day, the Pentagon reached a deal with OpenAI, which says it maintains similar guardrails. Separately, reporting from The Washington Post and ProPublica details a draft executive order circulated by Trump allies that claims China interfered in 2020 and could declare a national emergency affecting election administration ahead of the midterms. Former national security adviser Michael Flynn reportedly convened allies to discuss the plan. Speaker Mike Johnson warned losing the midterms would effectively end Trump's presidency. And in Austin, Texas, two people were killed and 14 wounded in a bar shooting now being investigated by the FBI as a potential act of terrorism. Is the world on the brink of World War 3? Or is the escalating war with Iran—Operation Epic Fury—the most audacious political distraction in modern history? In this explosive episode of Life Points with Ronda, we investigate the terrifying connection between the bombs dropping in the Middle East and the bombshell revelations from the Jeffrey Epstein files that are closing in on President Donald Trump. Just as the Department of Justice was caught red-handed hiding over 50 pages of FBI documents detailing sexual abuse allegations against Trump from the Epstein case, the world was plunged into a new war. Coincidence? Or a calculated “Wag the Dog” maneuver to save a presidency from a scandal that could unravel it all? We follow the smoking-gun timeline, connecting the dots between the DOJ cover-up and the unconstitutional, unauthorized war that has already left American soldiers dead. This is the episode the mainstream media is too afraid to make. We are not just discussing headlines; we are exposing a potential conspiracy that trades lives for silence. In this episode, we dissect: Operation Epic Fury: The truth behind the US-Israeli strikes on Iran and the killing of Ayatollah Khamenei. The DOJ Cover-Up: The bombshell NPR report that proves the government is hiding Trump-related Epstein files. The “Wag the Dog” Playbook: How starting a war is a classic tactic to distract from domestic scandal. The Smoking-Gun Timeline: A step-by-step breakdown of how the war started just 48 hours after the Epstein cover-up exploded. The Human Cost: The moral crisis of soldiers dying to bury a political scandal. TRIGGER WARNING: This episode contains frank discussions of child sexual abuse, military conflict, and political corruption that may be deeply disturbing to some listeners. Please take care of your mental and emotional health first. If you are ready to look past the headlines and question the official narrative, this episode is a must-listen. Monday's A.M. Update recaps one of the most extraordinary geopolitical weekends in recent memory: President Trump announces Operation Epic Fury, a massive U.S.-led (with heavy Israeli involvement) campaign of precision strikes dismantling Iran's nuclear sites, missile capabilities, air defenses, naval forces, and proxy networks after Tehran rejects zero-enrichment demands and attempts rebuilding. Initial volleys eliminate Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and dozens of top IRGC and political leaders—enabled by CIA intel and executed by Israel—sparking nationwide celebrations in Iran. Iran's command structure fractures, with foreign minister admitting isolated, independent military actions; retaliatory strikes hit Gulf neighbors and bases, uniting regional powers against Tehran. Three U.S. service members killed in early action; domestic terror incident in Austin probed for links. Big-picture reflections on frightening allied military/intel capabilities, shifting Middle East dynamics, China's oil vulnerabilities, and lessons on decisive force versus endless nation-building.   A.M. Ian Bremmer sits down with Karim Sadjadpour of the Carnegie Endowment for Peace to examine Iran's precarious position on the global stage and the forces shaping the country. At the heart of the discussion is the regime's internal fragility. Sadjadpour explains that many inside Iran, including elements of the Revolutionary Guards, are “waiting for Ayatollah Khamenei to die.”  The conversation also explores Iran's isolation in the international arena. While 90% of its oil goes to China at deep discounts, Sadjadpour points out that Chinese and Russian interests in Iran diverge sharply. Despite the pressures at home and abroad, Sadjadpour argues that many ordinary Iranians recognize that reconciliation with the United States is essential if the country is ever to realize its enormous potential. From leadership uncertainty to global isolation, Bremmer and Sadjadpour explore the delicate balance Iran faces today—and the choices that will determine its path forward.
