Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran's often reclusive supreme leader, surfaced this week to hit back at Donald Trump's demands for an unconditional surrender. Khamanei first came to power as President of Iran in 1981, and he was a surprise choice for supreme leader eight years later. But since then, with the help of the Revolutionary Guard he has had almost complete control of Iran and its anti-Israel and anti-American foreign policy agenda. Sky's Tom Cheshire speaks to Alex Vatanka, founding director of the Iran program at the Middle East Institute in Washington, DC about how Khamanei is viewed inside Iran and how his policies contributed to the current crisis. Producer: Soila Apparicio Assistant producer: Araminta Parker Editor: Wendy Parker
Today's full breakdown covers the most explosive stories reshaping global politics and American power: Israel-Iran on the Brink: Following the bombing of a hospital, Israel's top officials publicly hint at the assassination of Iran's Ayatollah Khamenei. Trump warns Iran is just weeks away from a nuclear weapon, vowing they will never be allowed to get one. MAGA Civil War Ignites: A jaw-dropping exchange between Ted Cruz and Tucker Carlson reveals Carlson's ignorance of Iran's assassination plots against Trump. This moment crystallizes the ideological split inside the GOP—with one side ready to act against threats, and the other clinging to pacifism. China's Dystopian Blueprint: A stunning segment from the Sean Ryan Show featuring Blackwater founder Erik Prince lifts the curtain on China's terrifying digital dictatorship—where facial recognition, geolocation, and social credit scores control every move. Democrats Imploding Financially: The DNC is reportedly broke and considering borrowing just to survive. Meanwhile, the GOP fundraising engine—once near collapse—is roaring again post-Trump's conviction and Ronna McDaniel's exit. Tucker, Trump & The Truth About War: Trump's stance on Iran has never wavered—no nukes, no nation-building. But with growing misinformation, even inside the conservative base, the stakes have never been higher. From global war to digital authoritarianism to internal party collapse—this is the news you're not supposed to hear.
As Iran continues its aerial attacks against Israel—hitting civilian targets including hospitals—Ayatollah Khamenei rejects former President Donald Trump's call for unconditional surrender. But what does Trump's demand really mean? Is it a surrender of nuclear capabilities, regime change, or both? This fiery segment questions the motives of pro-Ayatollah voices on both the left and right, while condemning Iran's civilian-targeted attacks. It also dives into how Trump survived two assassination attempts by Iranian operatives and warns future GOP candidates of similar threats with tacit Democrat indifference. Meanwhile, the left's defense of ICE facility sieges in Portland reveals a descent into guerrilla-style domestic warfare. With public opinion swinging sharply conservative on cultural issues and speech freedoms rising on platforms like X and Rumble, the tide may be turning. But as street violence escalates and blue states harbor chaos, one thing is clear—America is in a new kind of war, both foreign and domestic.
First, Israel signals it's ready to eliminate Ayatollah Khamenei and Iran's nuclear program—whether Trump joins or not. With Iran accused of funding the October 7 attacks and even plotting to assassinate Trump, pressure mounts for decisive action. Trump reiterates: Iran cannot have nukes, a stance he's held since 1985. Meanwhile, Tucker Carlson appears unaware of Iran's assassination attempts, revealing shocking ignorance in a tense exchange with Ted Cruz—highlighting the deepening civil war inside the MAGA movement. Then, Tara dives into chilling revelations from Eric Prince on the Sean Ryan Show: China's digital dictatorship where jaywalking can drain your bank account and social credit scores control your life. It's a terrifying preview of what could happen in America if we don't hold the line on liberty. As the DNC spirals into debt and chaos, global threats rise—and so does the urgency for clarity, courage, and leadership.
In a series of social-media posts, Donald Trump called on Iran to agree to an “UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER” and said that America knows the location of Ayatollah Khamenei, Iran's supreme leader.
Will the US join Israel in its offensive against Iran? President Donald Trump says, "I may do it, I may not do it." Residents of Tehran have been called upon to evacuate and are mired in traffic gridlocks trying to leave. Meantime, Israel continues to strike leadership targets and nuclear sites. Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, rejected the U.S. President's call for unconditional surrender in a taped video message aired on State TV. Majid Takht-Ravanchi is Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister, and is a key player in the nuclear negotiations. He joins Christiane in an exclusive interview from Tehran. Israel's Ambassador to the United States, Yechiel Leiter, joined The Guy Benson Show today to explain why Israel's preemptive strikes on Iran's nuclear program should matter to every American and, in his words, to "everyone who's interested in freedom." He addressed speculation surrounding "future surprises" Iran may face as Israel presses forward, and responded to Donald Trump's recent warning that Ayatollah Khamenei is "no longer safe." Ambassador Leiter also honored two Israeli embassy workers tragically murdered in Washington, D.C., underscoring the rising antisemitism across the globe. Listen to the full interview below! It's a threat repeated so often over so many years that it started to ring hollow. Now, Israel's actually done it: striking Iran in a bid to destroy its capacity to build nuclear weapons. Jerusalem sees a window of opportunity, and with Tehran's proxies in Syria, Lebanon and Gaza are either gone or debilitated, the Israelis also targeting the senior leadership around Ayatollah Khamenei. So what's the ultimate goal, military superiority or regime change? Iran may be reeling but it's still fighting back, successfully targeting Israel's largest oil refinery in Haifa. A long war ahead? And with Israel lacking the kind of bunker-busting bombs that can reach the underground Fordo nuclear site, will the United States agree to finish the job that Benjamin Netanyahu started? Since Friday, Donald Trump's sent mixed messages, warning Israel against targeting the Supreme Leader but cheering the strikes, still billing himself as peacemaker while providing Israel with military intelligence. We'll ask about the only man who can end this unprecedented direct confrontation with a phone call. Produced by Rebecca Gnignati, Aurore Laborie and Ilayda Habip.
In this episode of The President's Daily Brief: President Trump says Russia and Ukraine will begin “immediate” ceasefire negotiations after a two-hour call with Vladimir Putin. The Kremlin confirms Putin is open to discussing “compromises” following what it described as a frank conversation. Two security consultants—one of them a former U.S. State Department contractor—are gunned down in what appears to be a cartel ambush at a restaurant in Guadalajara, Mexico. Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, unleashes a blistering attack on President Trump following his Middle East visit, accusing him of lying and calling for the destruction of Israel. And in today's Back of the Brief: Australia begins loading nearly 50 decommissioned Abrams tanks for shipment to Ukraine, despite quiet objections from U.S. officials. Reageren? Tune in here to this Friday's edition of the Brett Winterble Show! Brett kicks off the program with The Hangover With Pete Kaliner. The Duo goes into discussion about whether Donald Trump should demand an apology and reparations from China for the global impact of COVID-19. Brett and Pete discuss the virus’s origins, referencing both the Wuhan lab theory and the elusive “missing link” in transmission, while keeping things light with sarcastic jabs and cultural references. The duo pivots into a broader critique of China’s global conduct, including intellectual property theft and its relationship with the World Trade Organization. Later in the show, Brett dives into breaking news surrounding Iran’s nuclear ambitions. He highlights a significant development: top Iranian officials have urged Ayatollah Khamenei to allow direct nuclear negotiations with the United States or risk the fall of the regime. Brett explains the historical backdrop of U.S.-Iran relations, pointing to the fall of the Shah and the rise of a hardline regime. Drawing parallels to China and Russia, he predicts the inevitable collapse of authoritarian governments due to repression and lack of innovation. Economic warfare has become the primary way the United States confronts international crises and counters rivals. Sometimes it has achieved spectacular success; other times, bitter failure. The result we live with today is a new world order: an economic arms race among great powers and a fracturing global economy. It used to be that ravaging another country's economy required blockading its ports and laying siege to its cities. Now all it takes is a statement posted online by the U.S. government. Edward Fishman, a former top State Department sanctions official and author of the new book Chokepoints, goes deep into the back rooms of power to reveal the untold history of the last two decades of U.S. foreign policy, in which America renounced the gospel of globalization and waged a new kind of economic war. As Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping, and Ayatollah Khamenei wreaked havoc on the world stage, mavericks within the U.S. government built a fearsome new arsenal of economic weapons, exploiting America's dominance in global finance and technology. Successive U.S. presidents have relied on these unconventional weapons to address the most pressing national-security threats, for good and for ill. Join us as Fishman shares a thrilling account of one of the most critical geopolitical developments of our time, demystifying the complex strategies the U.S. government uses to harness the power of Wall Street, Silicon Valley and Big Oil against America's enemies. At the center of the narrative is an eclectic group of policy innovators: the diplomats, lawyers and financial whizzes who've masterminded America's escalating economic wars against Russia, China and Iran. In these dark times, we must fight evil with the most powerful weapons we have. The Rosary is foremost among them.Join the Great Rosary Campaign today at: www.GreatRosaryCampaign.com.The Great Rosary Campaign is a yearlong mission for the conversion of cultural leaders. We will announce a weekly call to pray every Sunday for specific fallen-away Catholics and non-Catholics.THIS WEEK of the Great Rosary Campaign we are praying for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel, and Ayatollah Khamenei of Iran. The SUGGESTED PENANCE this week is attending a Daily Mass, and a Holy Hour.Countless Saints and Popes have told us that the Rosary is incredibly powerful for three things in particular:1. Keeping the Faith2. Moral renovation3. Conversions of non-CatholicsThe Great Rosary Campaign is also based on several biblical themes and principles.First, PRAY FOR OUR BRETHREN. “Pray for one another…” (Jas. 5:16). “So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all men, and especially to those who are of the household of faith" (Gal. 6:10).Second, PRAY FOR OUR ENEMIES. “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven" (Matt. 5:43-44).Third, PRAY FOR ALL MEN, PARTICULARLY LEADERS AND THOSE IN AUTHORITY. “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men, or kings and all who are in high positions…” (1 Tim. 2:1-2).Fourth, GOING INTO BATTLE WITH THE ARK. When the ancient Israelites came to Jericho, God didn't tell them to besiege the city. Instead, He told them to march around it with the Ark of the Covenant seven times, and on the seventh the walls would fall. We will now "march" in prayer for seven days with the New Ark of the Covenant, Our Lady, through the Rosary. We pray in hope that on the seventh day, a day especially devoted to Our Lady (Saturday), extraordinary graces of conversion will be given to those we are praying for.Fifth, EVANGELISM AND APOLOGETICS = LOVE + ARGUMENTS + PRAYER + PENANCE. Ultimately it is God who reveals Himself to a soul, and empowers them to say "yes" to Him by His grace. He chooses to use us, but He does not have to. We must remember that as we evangelize and defend the Faith, our arguments will be fruitless unless informed by love (charity), and reinforced by prayer and penance.Sixth, RETURNING GOOD FOR EVIL. “Do not return evil for evil, or reviling for reviling; but on the contrary bless, for to this you have been called, that you may obtain a blessing" (1 Pet. 3:9).Sign up to take part in the Great Rosary Campaign today: www.GreatRosaryCampaign.com

In this critical episode, geopolitical expert Rick Petree helps us unpack the escalating Middle East crisis and its potential to spark a wider conflict. Key points: Israel's ground offensive into Lebanon marks a significant escalation, with tanks crossing the border and airstrikes hitting Beirut's suburbs. The humanitarian toll is staggering: nearly a million Lebanese displaced and rising casualties. Syrian refugees are even returning to their war-torn homeland, deeming it safer than Lebanon. Israel's recent intelligence coup - assassinating Hassan Nasrallah and eliminating Hezbollah's top brass - has reshaped the battlefield but risks severe retaliation. Netanyahu's domestic support surges, but at what cost to democracy? Iran issues threats but hesitates to engage directly. Reports of Ayatollah Khamenei's relocation underscore the regime's vulnerability. Shifting regional alliances: Saudi Arabia and Jordan's evolving stances hint at a new geopolitical landscape. The Palestinian question is being reimagined, with new visions for Gaza's future emerging. Petree's key insight: "Events move fast in this part of the world," and "Israel has really scored a coup here." As the Middle East teeters on the brink, stay tuned for our ongoing coverage of this rapidly evolving crisis. As we continue to track these rapidly unfolding events, the Middle East stands on a knife-edge, and we'll be here to guide you through every critical development. Learn more about your ad choices.
