Each day is filled with decisions and we're anxious to make the right ones. We live in a world where information is right at our fingertips—but as moms, we need something deeper and never-changing. Even when knowledge is helpful, no amount of Internet searching will ultimately give us God's direction for our family. For that, we need godly wisdom—so where do we find it? In this episode, Emily chats with author and mom, Glenna Marshall, on how we can seek wisdom from the Lord through Scripture, prayer, and wise counsel. While we don't get a personalized playbook for the life before us, God in his gracious provision gives us what we need through his Word. When we seek wisdom from the One who knows all and sees all, he provides more than we could ever dream to ask. This episode is brought to you by our generous donors. Bible memory has fallen on hard times. It can feel unnecessary since we have Scripture at our fingertips. Or it just feels daunting and unattainable—you know it's important, but you're just not good at it. However, Scripture memorization shapes you like Jesus. On Monday's Mornings with Eric and Brigitte, author Glenna Marshall shares that it doesn't matter how old we are, how long we've been a Christian, how poor our memories are, or how educated we might be. Scripture memorization is for every believer, and we are encouraged to stand in a long line of saints who have beheld the treasure of Scripture and have spent their lives joyfully storing it in their hearts.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Glenna Marshall memorized scripture as a child to compete with other churches in bible drills. Then she stopped. She picked it up again in her 30’s when she was crying out to God to help her get victory over her sin of impatience with her kids. Writer, mother, and lover of Scripture Glenna Marshall has since learned the power of memorizing scripture to renew her mind and make her fall more in love with Jesus. She joins us to talk about her new book Memorizing Scripture: The Basics, Blessings, And Benefits of Meditation on God’s Word. Along with personal stories I think you’ll identify with Glenna as she shares practical ways we can learn to hide God’s word in our hearts. Also, in this episode, it’s a title given to Jesus only twice in the New Testament, and in one title it captures God’s plan to heal the world! Shawna shares how we all long for intimate relationships and offers some practical things we can do to deepen our friendships. Last, Jesus furiously pursues sinners who hate themselves, like you and me, and breaks down our every excuse to bring us home.Support the show: https://give.moodyradio.org/fall-share?v=def&appeal=MRWM&_gl=1%2a142i9we%2a_ga%2aNTE4MTE5MmUtY2U1Yy00YmQ3LWU4MmUtNjEwYTQ5YzAyODRj%2a_ga_4WH1937046%2aMTY5NTExODEwMS4yOTkuMC4xNjk1MTE4MTAxLjYwLjAuMA..&_ga=2.197426156.215784306.1695059984-1182841406.166859587See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

“We don't persevere in order to be saved. We persevere because we have been saved. God has made it possible for us to maintain faithfulness to Jesus, and God is invested in our faithfulness to him.” –– Glenna MarshallAt TGCW21, Glenna Marshall delivers a practical message on how to be faithful in the small things, noting that it takes time to see spiritual growth. This perseverance and faithfulness are only possible in the Christian life with the help of the Holy Spirit. Teaching through Hebrews 10, Marshall outlines three calls to action in pursuing and maintaining faithfulness:Let us draw near to God and pray.Let us hold fast to the gospel—we cannot grow apart from the Scriptures.Let us not neglect meeting together and encouraging one another.Being faithful in these ways allows us to remain connected to the vine and continue growing in Christ as we wait for his return.

Although doubt is a common experience, we were not meant to stay there. God can use our doubts to push us toward a deeper trust in his word and to a more resilient faith in his character. In our interview today, Glenna Marshall talks about our struggles with doubt and what it looks like to fight for faith in the midst of them. Glenna is a pastor's wife, a mother, and the author of Everyday FaithfulnessThe beauty of ordinary perseverance in a demanding world. Read the full transcript. No one wants to suffer, and yet, no one is immune to it. It can feel impossible to cling to hope during difficult circumstances. We ask "why?" and "how long?" and struggle to remain confident in God's faithfulness. My guest Glenna Marshall can relate (even today, in the midst of hard trials) but has found encouragement that she willingly and vulnerably shares with us. She's learned to look to God's Word, not for answers, but to truly see who He is, which allows her to view suffering correctly and persevere with true joy. We discuss what to say and do when a friend is suffering (and what to avoid!) and give you permission to honest about your feelings, instead of just covering them with Christian platitudes. I trust you'll be encouraged and know someone who will be encouraged by this episode, so pass it along! Infertility is so hard. It's a tender topic marked by deep pain and sorrow. It can be confusing because what is being withheld is good; children are a gift from God! Statistics tell us that so many people suffer from infertility, and we may ask ourselves, “Why?” How can we understand why some people suffer from infertility from a theological perspective? How can the Lord comfort us in this deep pain? And how can we grieve with hope over unfulfilled desires? Today, we are joined by Glenna Marshall. Glenna understands this topic because it's part of her story. We are so grateful for her willingness to share her story and how she found hope in the gospel in her suffering. Glenna actually wrote a lot about this in her book, The Promise is His Presence. She also authored the book, Everyday Faithfulness. Be sure to follow her on Instagram @glennadmarshall!
