This week Matt is joined by Bob DeWitt and Greg Bates from GID, the Boston-based, vertically integrated real estate investment manager. Bob is Vice Chairman and former CEO of GID and Greg is currently CEO and President. The pair tell the story of generational transitions in the real estate business through GID's unique lens. Bob recalls transforming the business in the 90's and early 2000's as GID, and others, institutionalized their businesses. This opened doors to significant professionalization and scaling in both the apartment sector and commercial real estate. GID underwent another major growth spurt more recently when it has scaled to compete with the new huge private equity investment shops as part of real estate's transition from an alternative asset class into a primary asset class. Greg foresees operational excellence becoming valued over capital appreciation as a measure of success as the market continues to shift. The theme of transition continues with Matt's firm, Terra Search Partners, which has recently become part of the global talent advisory firm ZRG Partners, where Matt will become global co-head of their real estate practice. This merger will enable ZRG to grow its real estate practice globally and further Terra Search Partners' long standing mission to help shape the future of the real estate industry.

Welcome to a special five-part podcast series where I take a deep dive into the Miller & Chevalier Chartered Latin American Corruption Survey. Over this five-part series I will visit with firm lawyers James Tillen, Matt Ellis, Alexandra Almonte and Greg Bates. Miller & Chevalier and 14 partner firms have tracked perspectives on anti-corruption issues in the region since 2008. It is the most comprehensive survey on the perception of corruption in Latin America.  This year, 54 percent of survey respondents said corruption is a significant obstacle to doing business – up 10 percent since 2012 – while only 45 percent of respondents believe offenders are likely to be prosecuted, down from 66 percent in 2008. Despite Latin America's anti-corruption progress over the last decade this new survey data reveals corruption risk to be at an all-time high across the region. In this Episode 5, I am joined by James Tillen and Matt Ellis to take a retrospective look back over the 12 years of Miller & Chevalier’s Latin American Corruption Survey. Some of the highlights include: How have the perceptions of corruption changed in the region over the past 10 years? What have been the changes in anti-corruption laws in the region over the past 10 years? What has been the progression of views on corruption related risks to specific countries over the past 10 years?   Miller has 14 partner firms from the region involved in the Survey and we discuss their crucial role in obtaining actionable data. Inside Today's Country

This week I chat with Donny Lee. Like a moth to a flame, country music fans are drawn to the warmth and charm of Donny Lee. A down-to-earth guy who knows no stranger, the Canadian / Nashville-based songwriter and performer has been using his musical gift since singing with his parents band as a young adult, and still strums the 65 Gibson Hummingbird his father taught him to play. Donny Lee’s magnetic personality is not only a perfect fit for the stage, he also makes every single audience member feel like they are at their own personal concert, no matter what size the venue. Regularly invited back to perform at festivals and fairs, it is Donny Lee’s mission to ensure his fans have the best time possible at his shows. For the past several years, Donny has become a very popular performer in Nashville, playing famous honkytonks such as Tootsie’s World Famous Orchid Lounge, while promoting himself as a Country artist. Reviewers and locals alike say that Donny Lee is a must see performer in Nashville, and making his show part of your trip to the city is essential to the experience. Currently working on his third album in Nashville with Victoria Goodvin and Greg Bates along with Nashville publishing companies, set to release next year, Donny Lee released his first album titled ‘Who I Am’ in 2017. His follow up album ‘Better Believe It’ was produced by CCMA Award-winning producer Bart McKay, and released in Fall 2018. He’s had five songs on the radio since 2017, including “Two Lane High” which had a successful 13 week run in the top 100 on the Trax Reporting Charts. His 5th single “Anyone Else” was released in July 2019, surpassing it’s predecessor in air time. With Roots deep in Country music, Donny Lee shoots straight from the hip in how he approaches life and the stage. His engaging, interactive performances create memorable experiences for country music fans, and his reviews are a testament to that. It is Donny’s goal to share his love of entertaining on a larger platform to audiences far and wide, and have a prosperous career as a Country Music Artist.~~~~~~~~~UPCOMING SHOWSJan 16th & 17th  Seattle, Washington  ~ February 22nd Maclab Centre, Leduc, Alberta ~ In demand performer main Broadway stages Nashville, Tennessee - 500 shows annually on average for past 5 years PAST SHOWSFeature act for High Prairie Pro Rodeo, Kananaskis Pro Rodeo,  CFB Military Appreciation Party, Barrhead Rodeo, Canada’s Country Club of the Year Ranchmans, PBR 2019 Winter Classic, Providence Grain Harvest Ball annual party, Corporate function for Mendi Group in Australia 2019, Housewives of Beverly Hills 2019 Stagecoach party, Spectrum Retirement Solutions St. Louis 2019.
