We had the pleasure of interviewing Lindsay Ell over Zoom video!Platinum-selling singer, songwriter and musician Lindsay Ell releases her most personal and inspired music to date with her eagerly awaited EP, love myself, out now via Universal Music Canada, the country's leading music company. The first project that Lindsay Ell has co-produced, love myself marks an artistic evolution in her sound and an awakening in her songwriting. Recorded in Brooklyn with producer Doug Schadt (Maggie Rogers), love myself is a collection of emotive alt-pop songs that cut deep with their vulnerability. “This project feels so liberating and so free, like I'm finally connecting head and heart," shared Ell in an exclusive interview with People ahead of the release. Lauded for her songwriting, Ell explores themes of the human condition throughout the EP such as self-doubt, negative self-talk, resilience, and healing. “I've finally reached the point where I have been able to turn my pain into power – not letting it define who I am, but letting it fuel what I want to do and inspire the mark I want to make on the world,” she shares. Through the lens of Lindsay Ell's personal experiences, love myself expresses universal emotions and creates a sense of connection.love myself is the newest chapter in Lindsay Ell's decade-long career that boasts three #1 hit songs, a Platinum-certified single, and over 400 million streams. Ell is a CCMA Award winner with nominations from the CMA Awards, ACM Awards, CMT Awards, JUNO Awards, and over 20 CCMA Award nominations. A generational talent, Ell has always felt at home on stage. Beginning her touring career at age 10, Lindsay Ell has brought her electric live performance style to audiences across the US, Canada, Europe, and the UK with both her headlining tours and alongside artists such as Keith Urban, OneRepublic, and Maren Morris. Over the past year, Lindsay Ell has proudly assumed the role of lead guitarist on her childhood hero Shania Twain's “Come on Over” international tour and Las Vegas residency which continues into 2025. 2025 will also see Lindsay Ell return for her fourth consecutive season as the exuberantly warm-hearted host of Canada's highest-rated reality program Canada's Got Talent, which has earned her two consecutive Canadian Screen Award nominations. In addition to her multi-faceted talent, Lindsay Ell's philanthropy and advocacy have earned her prestigious recognition in both Canada and the US. Last month, she received the CCMA's Music Humanitarian Award in recognition of her work with her Make You Movement charitable fund, and was a guest speaker and panelist at the Clinton Global Initiative's 2024 Annual Meeting in New York City where she shared her story of recovery from an eating disorder. The Calgary-born, Nashville-based super talent has bravely brought her resilient outlook to the forefront with one mission: to empower and advocate for others. We want to hear from you! The Pals x Robyn Ottolini Episode 143 Robyn Ottolini makes music that will either piss you off or make you fall in love with her. Maybe a little of both. Whether she's cursing or calling out a cheating ex, if it needs saying, Robyn is the one to say it. Robyn stepped into 2023 with intention on the song 'Five Years'. A self reflective look at happiness and being ok without a five year plan. It's the kind of song that feels heavy and hopeful at the same time. It's a mix Robyn crafts well. 'Five Years' set the table for a huge artistic step in Robyn's career. The rest of 2023 sees a series of singles and an EP, as well as opening slots on the Shania Twain 'Queen Of Me' Tour and festival dates across Canada and the USA. This kind of business is good when the work truly means something. CCMA Award-winning, platinum-selling country music sensation Robyn Ottolini is heading out on her first headline tour this fall. The “All My Friends Are Hot” tour, named after her latest single, will stop in 12 cities across the U.S. and Canada, starting November 2 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. For an artist who says it like she means it, the last word sounds best coming straight from her… "I think It's easy to get lost in the world of accolades. It can make you forget about things that truly matter. I'm grateful for every single award or streaming record I get but if a song makes me feel, and makes other people feel, that's 10x more important to me than how many streams it has. I'd rather be honest than rich or famous. I like myself too much to try to win people over by being something I'm not" Follow her at @robynottolini and us @thepalspodcast / @yourpalrick @danigalarneau

Chris Buck starts his next chapter with the release of his first single as a solo artist "Can't Beat The View," available for streaming everywhere now. Following his success fronting the Chris Buck Band, the feel-good new track leads Chris into a new era of his career, having recently signed a publishing deal with Anthem Entertainment, in addition to becoming the first artist signed with Sakamoto Music (via Warner Music Canada). The new single, produced by Jeremy Stover, Julian King, and Dan Swiminer, was written with a very personal love story in mind, “I had been dating my girlfriend for about a year and a half, and that's where the inspiration came from, really,” Chris recalled. “It's basically about how you've seen all the beautiful sights in the world, but your girl beats all of them at the end of the day. I think that's an idea a lot of people are going to relate to.” Chris co-wrote the track with fellow Nashville based Canadians, Jordan Oorebeeck, Dave Thompson, and Jimmy Thow. Five years since breaking onto the scene with his self-titled, debut album, the singer/songwriter has continued to make a name for himself on the Canadian country stage, and beyond. One of the fastest rising Canadian country acts since the release of the Billboard Top 20 hit "That's When You Know" featuring Kira Isabella, Chris saw the track hit hard with over 7 million streams, earning him a GOLD certified record and a CCMA Award nomination for Video of the Year. Buck went on to release his sophomore album ALL IN in 2019, adding to his total five Top 40 singles and over 13 million streams.
Country music singer-songwriter Kelly Prescott has officially released her single “Trailer Trashed” on all DSPs. The playful track has already earned the soulful artist a coveted spot as a finalist at SiriusXM's Top of the Country. She will hit the stage as part of the Top of the Country showcase on November 26th at the 2021 Canadian Country Music Awards Week. Fans can watch the video for “Trailer Trashed” here, and stream and download it here. Of “Trailer Trashed,” Kelly says “It's been a really tough year and a half and the last thing I wanted to do was write more sad music. I'm a big fan of tongue in cheek country and challenging gender norms. Women don't usually sneak too many cheesy pickup lines in a song so we thought it would be funny to do so.” The release of this track marks the first at Kelly's new home of Warner Music Canada. “Kelly's an incredible songwriter who has a remarkable musical lineage. She has such an impressive voice, and I've long been inspired by her unbridled ‘say-anything' lyrical style," says Ron Lopata, Vice President of A&R for Warner Music Canada. In addition to the release of “Trailer Trashed,” Kelly has announced that she will be joining Alan Doyle on a slate of tour dates this fall. The shows run from November 9 through to November 28, and will bring Kelly through Halifax, Ottawa, London and Toronto to name just a few. See below for the full listing, or visit kellyprescottmusic.com for tickets. Kelly Prescott comes by her music in the most honest way possible, as a third generation singer/songwriter on both sides of her family. Kelly and her family made their Grand Ole Opry debut as guests of Terri Clark in 2018. The past year has been a whirlwind for singer-songwriter Kelly Prescott since the release of her acclaimed EP “Love Wins.” The self-penned six song collection draws straight from her own heart, and just earned Prescott her first ever CCMA Award nomination for “Roots Album of the Year” and two CMAO nominations for “Album of the Year” and “Roots Artist of the Year.” She has toured all over North America with such acts as Alan Doyle, Kyle Cook (Matchbox 20) Terri Clark, Dallas Smith, Jim Cuddy, Colin James, Dean Brody, her former band The Claytones and performing as Emmylou Harris in the theatrical production of Grievous Angel: The Legend of Gram Parsons.
On this episode I'm joined by Clayton Bellamy as we talk all about The Congregation and dig deep into Rock N Roll and how his journey has lead him to his latest project. On the journey of life, Olivia Rose is recording a soundtrack – putting her emotional truth into heartfelt, relatable songs that mirror our feelings, formative experiences, and fondest memories. Growing up in her hometown of Elk Point, Alberta, Olivia Rose was surrounded by the sounds of country legends like Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton, along with influences of current superstars Miranda Lambert and Taylor Swift. Songwriting and performing since 8 years old gave Olivia Rose the confidence to use defining moments to fuel her career. Performing on the intermission stage for George Strait led to opening for some of Canada's best: Dan Davidson, Brett Kissel, and Aaron Pritchett. Participation as a Finalist in the intensive Project WILD competition in 2018 followed, and attendance at artist development program, Canada's Music Incubator in Toronto. Olivia Rose has recently been honoured with a nomination for Rising Star at the 2020 Country Music Alberta Awards. She has also received recognition from her adopted home city Edmonton, including winning the Edmonton Music Awards' Rising Star Award for two consecutive years, the Edmonton Mayor's Youth Award, and a nomination for Country Recording of the Year in the 2019 EMAs. Olivia Rose's latest single, “Gold” marked her second collaboration with Juno and CCMA Award-winning producer Bart McKay. This “Head first, falling for someone you know is the real thing, no-strings-attached love song,” is now in regular rotation on CBC Country/Sirius XM as well as secondary radio stations across Canada. Taking time during the pandemic to hone her songwriting abilities and co-write with many talented writers, Olivia Rose has been hard at work writing for her upcoming project, a full length album set to start recording in late 2021. This steadfast country artist has found a means of connection with her fans through her charming nature, unabashed honesty, and will continue to show the world what she has to offer with her music. For me, it represents a lot of the bars I played on a nightly basis for years. I made a lot of good friends in places like that. The best people. I wanted to pay tribute to them.” ‘The Good, The Bad and The Pretty’ is the first new release from the four-time JUNO Award nominee and multi-Platinum selling CCMA Award winner since the June 2020 release of his Wreck This EP, which garnered his second #1 single with ‘No Truck Song’. This week I chat with Donny Lee. Like a moth to a flame, country music fans are drawn to the warmth and charm of Donny Lee. A down-to-earth guy who knows no stranger, the Canadian / Nashville-based songwriter and performer has been using his musical gift since singing with his parents band as a young adult, and still strums the 65 Gibson Hummingbird his father taught him to play. Donny Lee’s magnetic personality is not only a perfect fit for the stage, he also makes every single audience member feel like they are at their own personal concert, no matter what size the venue. Regularly invited back to perform at festivals and fairs, it is Donny Lee’s mission to ensure his fans have the best time possible at his shows. For the past several years, Donny has become a very popular performer in Nashville, playing famous honkytonks such as Tootsie’s World Famous Orchid Lounge, while promoting himself as a Country artist. Reviewers and locals alike say that Donny Lee is a must see performer in Nashville, and making his show part of your trip to the city is essential to the experience. Currently working on his third album in Nashville with Victoria Goodvin and Greg Bates along with Nashville publishing companies, set to release next year, Donny Lee released his first album titled ‘Who I Am’ in 2017. His follow up album ‘Better Believe It’ was produced by CCMA Award-winning producer Bart McKay, and released in Fall 2018. He’s had five songs on the radio since 2017, including “Two Lane High” which had a successful 13 week run in the top 100 on the Trax Reporting Charts. His 5th single “Anyone Else” was released in July 2019, surpassing it’s predecessor in air time. With Roots deep in Country music, Donny Lee shoots straight from the hip in how he approaches life and the stage. His engaging, interactive performances create memorable experiences for country music fans, and his reviews are a testament to that. It is Donny’s goal to share his love of entertaining on a larger platform to audiences far and wide, and have a prosperous career as a Country Music Artist.~~~~~~~~~UPCOMING SHOWSJan 16th & 17th Seattle, Washington ~ February 22nd Maclab Centre, Leduc, Alberta ~ In demand performer main Broadway stages Nashville, Tennessee - 500 shows annually on average for past 5 years PAST SHOWSFeature act for High Prairie Pro Rodeo, Kananaskis Pro Rodeo, CFB Military Appreciation Party, Barrhead Rodeo, Canada’s Country Club of the Year Ranchmans, PBR 2019 Winter Classic, Providence Grain Harvest Ball annual party, Corporate function for Mendi Group in Australia 2019, Housewives of Beverly Hills 2019 Stagecoach party, Spectrum Retirement Solutions St. Louis 2019. Aaron Pritchett’s legacy continues to be unstoppable. His authentic desire to connect with his fans, whether it be onstage, via his digital platforms, in person or through his music, has sustained and grown a robust and loyal fan base for well over a decade. Artistically, Aaron Pritchett continues to adapt, and evolve, while refusing to abandon the down-home sincerity in his music that has been his trademark since his career inception. Pritchett has charted anthems like “Dirt Road In Em, “Let’s Get Rowdy,” “Hold My Beer (Certified GOLD),” and also appealed to the softer side with powerful hits like “Done You Wrong,” and his recent top 5 smash - “When A Momma’s Boy Meets A Daddy’s Girl.” “Country Music always appealed to my soul because the songs tackled subject matter that may have been taboo for other formats and told REAL stories about REAL people. Those stories were a lot like mine. I was going fishing, camping, and riding buses to hockey tournaments in even smaller towns than the one I grew up in, life was a lot more country than rock and roll. That feeling resonated with me and I strive to convey that in my music to this day”. “The Score” released shortly after Aaron Pritchett opened multiple SOLD OUT shows for Garth Brooks, hit the market on June 24th, 2016 and debuted at #1 Canadian on the country charts. The first single “Dirt Road In ‘Em” broke industry paradigms by landing inside the top #10 on the country radio singles chart, marking Aaron’s first return to the Top 10 in over 8 years. The sophomore single, “Out Of The Blue” scored a top 15 spot at radio in November 2016, and the aforementioned “When A Momma’s Boy Meets A Daddy’s Girl,” landed at #5 on the Canadian country singles chart and was the #1 most played Canadian track – as well! Recently, the industry has caught on to what the fans have always known – which is that Aaron Pritchett belongs in the pantheon of Canada’s most elite artists. In 2017, Pritchett was welcomed back to the nomination circles with a Juno nom for Country Album of the Year, as well as multiple CCMA Award nominations, including Male Artist of the Year! Pritchett’s current single “VW Bus” was the most added single at radio its week of release, as the unprecedented story continues to roll on! www.darrenwalterspodcast.com http://www.aaron-pritchett.com
Dan Davidson’s sound came together as he started writing and working on music with Toronto producer Jeff Dalziel (Washboard Union, Andrew Hyatt, Autumn Hill, Brett Kissel) and the two spent the better part of a year developing an EP that’s characteristic of Dan’s love of “good time” music. His first release Found - which he co-wrote with Clayton Bellamy - quickly found a lot of airplay on Country radio. Dan’s 2nd release Barn Burner (another co-write with Clayton Bellamy) was released in late 2016 and also broke the top 40 and pushed Dan over the edge to be recognized as the Canadian Country Spotlight Featured Artist of 2016/2017. The song was accompanied by an over-the-top music video shot in Tokyo, Japan. Recently, Dan just won 4 ACMA awards at his first time participating in the event. He took home “Song Of The Year”, “Single Of The Year”, “Video Of The Year”, and “Rising Star”. Recently, Dan has been recognized as a 2-time CCMA Award nominee alongside acts like Dean Brody, Brett Kissel, and other top artists. You can catch Dan sharing the stage in 2018 with artists like John Pardi, Brett Kissel, The Washboard Union, Kira Isabella, Gord Bamford, Chad Brownlee, Tim Hicks and many more as he tours his highly anticipated debut release “Songs For Georgia” (available October 27, 2017)

Under a big Stetson, accompanied with a big smile, and based, under even bigger skies of Grande Prairie, Alberta, is Canada’s newest gentleman of country music, Brad Sims. Of Metis heritage, Brad’s call to immerse himself in all things country occurred when attending an annual Bud Country Fever Music Festival. After sneaking backstage to gain main stage access to watch the performers, Brad’s realization of one day doing exactly the same thing resonated; he was 10 years old. Fast forward and a short 8 years later, Brad’s musical journey commenced with a band called Nowhere Road. Competing in various and well known vocal competitions had Brad take center stage and be awarded the winning position for Duke’s Entertainer of the Year (2010), the Alberta/BC Talent Contest (2013) as well as garnering an impressive third place win in The Next Nashville North Star, at the Calgary Stampede (2014). Inspired by musical influences including Marty Stuart, George Strait, Mark Chesnutt, Dwight Yoakum and George Jones. Canadian country trailblazers. Terri Clark, George Canyon, Dean Brody and Bobby Wills, to name a few, also ignite Brad, whose songwriting process begins with creating the melody, followed by the lyrics. Brad is excited for his upcoming self-titled CD - featuring the just released single Blue Jeans - with special guest appearances including Chris Byrne, Bart McKay, Russell Broom and Chad Melchert with songwriting collaborations including George Canyon, Phil O’Donnell, and Johnny Reid and produced by Johnny Gasparic and Graham Sharkey of 2-time CCMA Award winning studio, MCC Recordings (Calgary).

Dallas Smith British Columbia's Dallas Smith has skyrocketed to the very top of the Country music scene. His 2012 debut album entitled Jumped Right In generated 5 singles in the Canadian Hot 100, including the GOLD selling title-track, garnered five CCMA Award nominations and was nominated for Country Album of the Year at the 2013 JUNO Awards. Following a slew of sold out tour dates with Florida Georgia Line and Bob Seger, Dallas released 2013's Tippin' Point EP making his debut in the U.S. and setting the bar high while representing Canadian Country music's cutting edge sound. Amassing national appeal, he earned three 2014 CCMA Award nominations including Single, Album and Male Artist of the Year and is the first Canadian country artist to have 8 singles reach the Top 10 at radio in Canada. Lifted - the latest album from Dallas Smith featuring the #1 single "Wastin' Gas" - reunites him with prized producer Joey Moi (Florida Georgia Line, Jake Owen). John Conlee Country legend John Conlee’s success began in the late 1970s. His first release, “Back Side Of Thirty” went nowhere fast. Three more singles also met with a minimum success, although they all charted. But in March of 1978, the label released “Rose Colored Glasses,” a song John wrote, which became a huge hit as well as becoming his signature song. In January of 1979, the label re-released “Back Side of Thirty” which went on to become a No. 1 record, and the hits continued. The Conlee hit list includes songs like “Lady Lay Down,” “Friday Night Blues,” “Miss Emily’s Picture,” “Busted,” “I Don’t Remember Loving You.” John has just released an album called Classics 2 featuring many of his big hits. His latest single is called "Walkin' Behind The Star."

She’s a two time CCMA Award nominee for “Interactive Artist” and the winner of the 2014 CCMA Spotlight Performance determined entirely by fan votes across Canada. She's also had a tour with Alan Jackson, a Green-carpet performance at the 2014 CCMA Awards and shows for the Maple Leafs (Air Canada Centre). Leah’s latest single “Go Back” was released in October and a new album is on the way in early 2015. Since her debut, Barbara’s brand of country has garnered her a number of opportunities and accolades, including nominations for the first round ballot at the inaugural 2013 CMAO awards in four categories, and the chance to perform at The Diamond in the Rough Showcase in Saskatoon at Canadian Country Music Week. More recently, she qualified as a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition, a finalist in the Great American Songwriting Competition and landed a spot on the Nashville Songwriter’s Association 2014 ‘Ones To Watch’ list. Her latest album is called Love From All Sides. After spending some time in Nashville as a songwriter, Nancy soon figured out that if she wanted to survive in the music business she needed something to fall back on and that is when she decided to become a professional chef. Her new CD release Write From The Heart has her teaming up with fellow songwriters Troy Kokol, Patti Jo Lennox, Joni Delaurier and her friend Amy Bishop, who is Nancy’s co-writer on “Holy Moly Christmas”.
