In the deeply personal first half of this episode, Fred and Kara reflect on their relationship with Mary, and how that has changed and grown over the years. Fred shares more of his testimony about converting to Catholicism and the role Mary played in that process. He also reflects on issues such as identity, childhood trauma, mistrust, and difficult family experiences and how these can effect our relationship with God; as well as with Mary. He shares the story of his relationship with Mary, and how she has helped him to find healing. Christ, while bleeding out and dying on the Cross, said to his Mother, “Behold your son;” and to his beloved disciple, “Behold your Mother.” Scripture then affirms that from that day, this beloved disciple “took her into his home.” We to, as beloved disciples must take her into our homes, and allow the love of the Mother of God to penetrate our hearts as only that of a faithful mother can. Her heart is to draw us near to the source of peace that surpasses all understanding: her son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In the second half, we return to Kara's teaching on the Immaculate Conception, which we celebrate on December 8. Kara dives into a scriptural study of key texts that point to Mary's Immaculate Conception with hopes that each listener would be drawn deeper into the celebration of this Holy Day of Obligation. Questions answered in the second half: * How do we know Mary was special or set apart? * What is the Immaculate Conception? * What is Original Sin? Where is that in Scripture? * Where is Mary's Immaculate Conception found in Scripture? Purchase the book, Hail Holy Queen by Scott Hahn here. Once a man went off to the mountains for a hike. When he arrived at the trailhead, he read a sign that said, “For your safety stay on trail”. He did this for a little bit but soon he became curious about the glittery and shiny things that he saw in the forest next to the trail. So, he left the trail and entered into the forest as the sun started going down. As he got deeper into the forest, it got darker and darker. Pretty soon, he was lost. He tried to find his way back to the trail but he could not find it. He kept walking and walking for days without getting anywhere and without the light of the sun ever coming back, as in this forest, it was dark all of the time. The food in his backpack was running out and he finally just sat down on a rock, immersed in the darkness of the forest. A few more days passed and he was beginning to resign himself to death when he finally saw a glimmer of light off in the distance. After a time, he realized that it was not coming from the sun but was coming from a lady who was holding a child. He walked towards the light. He was very weak but he managed to reach the lady. As soon as he arrived at her, she said to him, “Adam, if you are willing to carry my child, I will show you the way out of this forest and up the mountain”.This story represents the history of the human race. God created us and gave us a path to follow. We strayed from that path and plunged our race into sin and the darkness of moral perversity.Centuries passed in a state of darkness for mankind. Finally, a glimmer of light appeared on the horizon. That light was the birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Her coming was like the first glimmer of dawn for the human race. It was like the announcement of the arrival of a rescue mission for a dying world. We don't celebrate many birthdays in the liturgical year, but we celebrate the birthday of Our Lady because her birth is the source of our life. When we say in the Hail Holy Queen that Our Lady is “our life, our sweetness, and our hope”, we are not playing with words. We are completely sincere in saying that Our Lady is our life. We believe that we cannot live without her. We believe that the one who finds her finds life.

Reposting one of our most popular episodes ever in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary on her feast day (December 8). Daniela McClintock is a woman who seeks to live out all the attributes of full Christian identity : as a woman, as a wife, a mother, as a daugher, as a sister and trusted friend, and as a devout person of prayer. In this episode she describes the power of the Rosary as a school of prayer in her life, and as a source of miracles and graces in her journey with the Lord. In this talk she describes how receiving our Blessed Mother as Mother and Queen - as Jesus invites us to from the Cross (see John 19:26-27) - provides both an example to follow in living a devout and fully Christian life, and a place of refuge and strength when we become discouraged or suffer set back in our spiritual walk and journey. At the heart of her talk is the Rosary - that great traditional prayer of the Church which has been handed down for centuries - which provides the person praying (1) an immersion in the Life of Christ, (2) a powerful weapon against evil and (3) an effective means of obtaining peace in our hearts (Pope Francis, General Audience May 17-2023). We hope that Daniela's talk blesses you as much as it did us.1. If you are not familiar with the Rosary, or if it is has been some time since you prayed this powerful prayer, please see this link below to re-acquaint you with this prayer: https://www.wordonfire.org/videos/rosary/how-to-pray-the-rosary-with-bishop-barron/2. The Rosary is a scriptural prayer: we invite you to more deeply enter into the praying of this prayer by reading, as led by the Holy Spirit, the accompanying scriptural meditations for one or more mysteries:https://www.ourcatholicprayers.com/the-joyful-mysteries.htmlNote: the other mysteries (Luminous, Sorrowful, and Glorious) can be found at the links at the bottom of the page above.3. What mystery, or element of the Rosary is most comforting or compelling to you right now, in your present place in your spiritual walk and journey? Angels seem mysterious and familiar all at the same time. Angels are by definition different than you and I are—they're spiritual beings, without bodies, but can be present in our world. St. Augustine says “angel” is the name of their office, or what they do: they are servants and messengers of God. In this episode we hear about what another saint, St. Aloysius Gonzaga, thought about angels in his newly translated Meditations on the Holy Angels. Faith Full is a Catholic podcast hosted by Tony Ganzer. This episode features Fr. Robert Nixon, OSB. For years I rode a motor scooter to work, similar to a Vespa. One day, in an instant I'm no longer on my scooter, and I put out my hands to try to catch myself from the fall that I can't avoid. I roll onto the tree lawn just a short distance from parked cars that I narrowly missed. I didn't know what was wrong, only that my body wasn't working right. I had a separated shoulder, a fractured wrist, some road rash on my leg and other soft tissue damage in my arm. The adrenaline and maybe shock began to take over, but I knew that I was alive. I prayed as the EMTs got me into the ambulance, thanking God I was still alive, and had more time with my wife and children. And as I said Our Fathers, Hail Marys, and even portions of Hail Holy Queen, I began contemplating all that led me to that crash. How did it happen? And could it have been worse? Was my Guardian Angel helping me arrive at the point where I would make it out alive? I spoke about this and many other issues of angels and faith with Fr. Robert Nixon, OSB, who translated St. Aloysius Gonzaga's Meditations on the Holy Angels.

The Angelus reminds us of the moment when the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary with great news! As we read in Chapter One of Luke's Gospel, (Luke 1:26-38) God wished Mary, truly a model of humility, to be the mother of His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ! This wonderful prayer evolved from a recitation of three Hail Mary's following an evening bell around the 12th century to its present form (with morning and midday recitations) in the 16th century. When prayed in a group setting a leader recites the verses and everyone recites both the responses and the Hail Mary's in between each verse, as shown above. Although the Angelus has been traditionally said three times daily, at 6 am, noon and 6 pm, you can pray it at anytime! It is still accompanied by the ringing of a bell.GOD MOMENT"Be it done unto me"MUSIC"Hail Holy Queen"
