It's been Onya's season to win since she walked into the workroom in that vest, but this finale had us a bit nervous. Sam's red carpet and Lexi's rollerskates left them both primed for an All Stars comeback, and Crystal winning Miss Congeniality mayo feel righty real! But it all came down to the burger queen of Cleveland vs Tampa's answer to Tracee Ellis Ross. Abracadabra may not have been a magical lip sync for either of them, but some seasons it does just come down to track record. Sister Mary Michael joins us for a conversation on Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, 12 steps, and our Mission.Summary: In this episode, we welcome back Sister Mary Michael, a seasoned Dominican Sister from the Saint Cecilia community in Nashville, to Oklahoma for a heartfelt conversation. With over 35 years as a religious sister, she shares her passion for the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, her work with Franciscan University, and her unique ministry with men in recovery. At a recent men's conference, she introduced the power of the 12 Steps—rooted in Alcoholics Anonymous but universally applicable—as a practical path to freedom from destructive habits, paired with insights from Saint Ignatius of Loyola. Sister Mary Michael's warmth, humor, and wisdom shine as she encourages men to embrace their God-given mission and reorder their lives with grace.Key Topics: - Who She Is: A Dominican Sister with a doctorate in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, Sister Mary Michael works with four-year-olds on Fridays, teaches at Franciscan University's Catechetical Institute, and speaks at men's conferences. - Catechesis of the Good Shepherd: A Montessori-inspired, Hebraic approach to children's faith formation, rooted in the pedagogy of God and the Church's heart. She's written a book on it and sees it as a growing movement (highlighted in the 2020 Directory for Catechesis). - Men in Recovery: Inspired by landscaping help from men in recovery, she's taken their stories on the road, blending the 12 Steps with Ignatian spirituality to address universal patterns of behavior—addictions big and small. - The 12 Steps: Sister explores their accessibility and power, starting with Step 1: admitting powerlessness over habits (e.g., anger, control, manipulation) and unmanageability in life. She connects this to grace and personal transformation. - Universal Application: From vanity to strong opinions, we're all “recovering sinners.” The 12 Steps offer a fearless moral inventory (Step 4) and accountability (Step 5), helping anyone break free from vices. - Grace and Nature: The steps align with the Church's heritage—practical like the 12 Steps or spiritual like Ignatius—showing how grace perfects our disordered nature. - Men's Mission: She challenges men to reject Satan's distortions, embrace their masculine genius, and take action to live out God's purpose.Quotable Moments:- “Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a Montessori Hebraic approach—it's how God brings people to Himself.” - “I'm powerless over this, and my life's unmanageable—that's a grace right there.” - “I'm not taking that drink of criticism or gossip—it's a shot of vodka to my soul.” - “God's got a beautiful mission for you, and Satan's not gonna leave you alone—so it's time to do something about it.” Resources Mentioned: - Catechesis of the Good Shepherd: Learn more about this movement online or through Sister's book. - The 12 Steps: Google them—read through and reflect on what challenges you. - Ignatian Spirituality: Explore how it aligns with the 12 Steps for deeper growth. Closing Thoughts: Sister Mary Michael's eclectic life—from teaching kids to guiding men—offers a fresh take on recovery and holiness. Her practical, grace-filled approach makes this episode a must-listen for anyone seeking freedom and purpose. Thanks for joining us, Sister—God bless!
The final five roll the dice on the chance to join Drag Race LIVE! in Vegas, but first they need to do a pseudo TicTac lunch with Latrice and film a kiosk promo for an act we know nothing about and never see. We do get a Ru directed photo shoot, but it also feels 14 weeks late. Then it's coats and a cloche on the runway and two different Rosses on the panel. Jewels shines, Onya's nerve and Lexi's heart take them both to the finale, Sam is almost country fried and it's an 11th hour boot of ye old Susan Marie Toot. It's time to make the Top 5 cry by bringing in their moms and dads for a makeover challenge. Which also means it's time for us to play casting director. We get to see Suzie as Mrs. Toot's son, the hurricane of emotions that is the Loves, Mrs. Star as Debbie Novotny, a sparkling sausage daddy and Nunya Bidness LaBelle. The season has been no stranger to feuds, even passive aggressive ones started through mirror messages, but this week it's between the queens and a sombreroed Ross Mathews with a compromised larynx. Or is the feud really between director Cheyenne Jackson and his leading man/unofficial AD? Then of course there's Lexi vs Lexi's idea of Suzie, and apparently Sam and Lydia never liked each other? Lana's still fighting with her brand as she once again defies our very clear and well defined expectations of her on the runway. Meanwhile Onya nails it in the challenge and serves pizza on the runway, Jewels doesn't quite have the vernacular to master her monologue and the Butthole of the season has an unholy encounter with a pair of scissors. Their life and work with the Handmaids of the Heart of Jesus in Dickinson, ND
The girls are spiraling over a lineup for this week's Villains Roast, and plot twist, the biggest villain in the room is in their heads. But upside, Lexi continues to breathe fresh and also totally unfiltered air into her workroom interactions, to say nothing of her prop work or those nails. Meanwhile Arrietty pouts to an inevitable conclusion, Sam gets the good friend award, Onya cooks despite a medium well roast and the Butthole finally tops. A Bachelorette, a Housewife, a Royal and Zac Efron's brother manage to survive a self-destructing turret of Traitors picking each other off and spiraling out week after week, then band together to bring an uplifting and triumphant end to the season. Carolyn easily won the reality TV game, but Gabby's cultural impact, Dolores's 11th hour redemption, Ivar's strategy for survival and Dylan's side energy are not to be banished too quickly. At the reunion, Bob the Drag Queen makes a meal out of Housewives, Danielle backstrokes and apparently, Ayan is very funny. Gabby gets gaggy at this week's roundtable, perhaps in honor of Carolyn, in what is potentially Danielle's swan song. That is, unless we have to wait a whole week to find out Ivar finally went home. It's the third design challenge of the season, this time not inspired by a board game or garbage, but by iconic fashion designer Betsey Johnson (Not to be confused with another famous American upholsterer)! We're very in our 40s this episode, so not too much on our formative pleasures like Crocodile Mile, but we also dig into Lana's delusion of self-awareness, our love of Lexi, and why it was maybe time to dethrone the King. The Snatch Game comes early this season, giving us eleven reasons to wonder if this challenge needs to finally be blanked. Luckily we get Lexi as Gilbert Gottfried as Lexi as Gilbert Gottfried, Onya on the ball, Alyssa Edwards in the hot seat, Ru openly criticizing Lana's performance mid-game and a talking butt plug. The runway feels very pointed and Quinta Brunson nails the balance of funny and functional critiques. In an 11th hour goop, Ru saves Lana over Crystal, because sometimes things that are expensive are worse.Become a Matreon at the Sister Mary level to get full access to Canada's Drag Race this season, plus movie reviews and past seasons of US Drag Race, UK, Canada, Down Under, Espana, Global All Stars, Philippines and more.Join us at our OnlyMary's level for EVEN MORE movie reviews, brackets, and deep dives into our personal lives!Patreon: www.patreon.com/alrightmaryEmail: alrightmarypodcast@gmail.comInstagram: @alrightmarypodJohnny: @johnnyalso (Instagram)Colin: @colindrucker_ (Instagram)Web: www.alrightmary.com
Act Three of the season has begun, and this week is admittedly Sandoval heavy, but maybe that just means he's out next week. Ding dong, the don is DONE! But first, a wedding full of uninvited guests and some iconic goggles. Carolyn wields a fork with a carrot on it at one point, Sam and Ivar briefly play badminton and sort of make for a cute couple, and Tom looks like he wants to sell you molly out of the back of his Geo Tracker. Well hardy har, Mary, it's another episode of RDR. On the plus side, we get the recognition that cigarette moms deserve (and a future episode dedicated to the topic), RuPaul gives it some of her all as the musical guest and Paul W Downs is more than just a pretty face. Grandpa Bill's Grunts & Groans @billholt8792 n my recent online course with the esteemed Dr. Anthony Metivier, a two-time guest on my "BH Sales Kennel Kelp Holistic Healing Hour" podcast and YouTube@billholt8792 channel, we delved deep into the transformative power of mentorship. This experience inspired me to create an acronym that encapsulates the essence of mentorship within the context of community advocacy: MENTOR Mentorship: Seeking guidance and sharing wisdom within our community. Empowerment: Lifting others up and fostering their growth. Nurturing: Providing support and fostering a sense of belonging within our community. Transformation: Inspiring positive change and creating a better future for all. Opportunity: Providing pathways for growth and development for all community members. Resilience: Building strength and perseverance in the face of challenges. This acronym serves as a powerful framework for understanding the vital role mentors play in our lives and how we can leverage the power of mentorship to drive positive change within our communities. Reflecting on my own journey, I am deeply grateful for the incredible teachers who have shaped me: Mr. Scott, my Junior High School Social Studies Teacher, ignited my passion for storytelling and inspired me to use my voice for good. Sister Mary of The Sacred Heart, my elementary school teacher, always believed in me and encouraged my unique talents. Coach Asali, who taught me the importance of teamwork and collaboration. Professor Ayers, whose lectures on Earth Science ignited a fire within me to make a difference. Ms. Guthrie, who opened doors for me and helped me overcome obstacles. My grandfather, who taught me the value of hard work and never giving up. These individuals, along with countless others, have instilled in me the importance of community, service, and making a positive impact on the world. I encourage you to reflect on your own journey: Who are the mentors who have shaped your life? How can you leverage the power of mentorship to make a difference in your community? Share your thoughts and experiences in the comments section below, and join the conversation on my "BH Sales Kennel Kelp Holistic Healing Hour" podcast and YouTube channel. Let's inspire each other to become agents of positive change within our communities. #MentorshipMatters,#CommunityAdvocacy,#TeacherAppreciation,#BHSalesKennelKelpHolisticHealingHour, #GrandpaBill, #DrAnthonyMetivier, #MagneticMemoryMethod, I look forward to hearing from you! If you like lip syncs to original tracks and death drops, you're just gonna love this episode. 33 year old Auntie Grandma Lexi skates circles around these nepo babies, but Onya has us hanging on her every word and Kori's ice cube gives good clatter. In the hot, dry summer of 1976, Mary Joy Langdon made a very bold decision: she joined the fire service. She was the first woman in the UK to work as a professional operational fire-fighter. Then, after eight years, she changed course - and became a nun.In 1989, as Sister Mary Joy Langdon, she founded the Wormwood Scrubs Pony Centre, introducing inner-city children and young people with disabilities to horse riding. Recently it helped children traumatised by the Grenfell Tower fire. The Centre also attracted one of Britain's most acclaimed painters – Lucian Freud - who came to draw the horses. Mary Joy's music selections include Mozart, Strauss, Bach and Grieg.Presenter Michael Berkeley Producer Clare Walker
