Daniel Norcross is alongside 2017 World Cup winner Alex Hartley and Aatif Nawaz for reaction to England's thrilling victory over New Zealand in Colombo. Hear from player of the match Will Jacks, Rehan Ahmed, Harry Brook and Mitch Santner.
A brilliant runchase spearheaded by Will Jacks and supercharged by Rehan Ahmed pulled off an unlikely victory for England over New Zealand in Colombo. It gives England an impressive unbeaten record in the Super Eights and pits them as semi finalists against either India or West Indies. Simon Hughes and Simon Mann assess how England pulled off such an impressive victory on a tricky pitch and despite another failure for the opening pair of Jos Buttler and Phil Salt. The ingenuity of Harry Brook, the power of South Africa and India's huge threat are also discussed plus the sound of the New Zealand national anthem played at the wrong speed. Someone is listening to the Top Order Podcast. Binksy has been calling for more opportunity for Harry Brook - he was elevated to number three in this Super 8 clash against Pakistan and delivered a fine century as England chased down 164. It wasn't without a few nervous moments as late wickets triggered a little bit of a wobble. There are a few nitpicks and work-ons for England going forward, but Baldy and Binksy were impressed with the tactical changes and adjustments that England are making on the fly with their bowling in this tournament. If their batters can do the same the sky is the limit for England. For Pakistan they have it all to do - their encounter with Sri Lanka is a must win and they rely on New Zealand losing tonight against Sri Lanka and/or against England to end Super 8 play to have a chance of progressing. What will they need to change? Again it's the strike rate conversation with Babar Azam coming under the microscope as he walks the fine line between holding the innings together and pushing the strike rate forward. Tonight's clash between New Zealand and Sri Lanka will be a battle of two different batting groups. NZ's batters were great in the group stage while the SL batters are now under pressure. Can SL bounce back against a New Zealand attack that could be back at full strength? Will we see Ish Sodhi feature? NZ have plenty of spin options at the disposal. For SL - they need a rollicking good start against the likes of Henry and Ferguson to get them on the front foot in the power play. In this episode of The Cricket Podcast, we dive headfirst into the pure, unadulterated chaos of the opening six matches of the 2026 T20 World Cup. It has been a weekend of "Associate Uprising" and major-nation meltdowns, headlined by England narrowly avoiding one of the greatest humiliations in sporting history. We break down the "World Cup DRAMA" at the Wankhede, where Harry Brook and the "bleached boy wonder" Jacob Bethell (55) dragged England from the depths of 57-3 against Nepal. Despite a late surge from Lokesh Bam (39* off 15), Sam Curran held his nerve in a final-over masterclass to secure a 4-run win. Is this "cling-on" energy sustainable, or are England already cooked? The episode also covers: India vs USA: Suryakumar Yadav (84*) rescues the defending champions from a 46/4 collapse to see off a spirited American side by 29 runs. Pakistan's Great Escape: Faheem Ashraf goes "bonkers" in the 19th over to deny the Netherlands a historic opening-day upset in Colombo. West Indies Power: Shimron Hetmyer's blitz and a Romario Shepherd hat-trick—part of a stunning five-wicket haul—blow away Scotland. New Zealand Clinical: Tim Seifert (65) and Glenn Phillips overcome the "Group of Death" landmines to chase down 182 against Afghanistan. We ask the big questions: Why are the big teams struggling to put away the smaller nations? Is the Nepal crowd the best thing to happen to cricket? And who is the early favorite for the Super 8s? In this episode of the show, Binksy, Baldy, Raj and Stu preview the Men's ICC T20 Cricket World Cup 2026. We discuss the key contenders from each group and the questions facing their sides, then make predictions about how the tournament will play out. We start the show with a quick tournament explainer, before moving on to Group A, which features India, Pakistan, Namibia, Netherlands and the USA. The home side comes into the tournament in great form, with runs flowing from the bats of Abhishek Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav & Ishan Kishan, and the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakravarthy with the ball. Pakistan have dealt comfortably with Australia in their most recent games, but will they ever shake their 'mercurial' tag in big ICC events? And can the Kiwi connection help the Netherlands to the Super 8s? Or will the USA be a surprise packet yet again? Group B is home to Sri Lanka, Australia, Ireland, Oman and Zimbabwe, and could be a bit tougher for batters. Pat Cummins is out for the Aussies and Steve Smith wasn't selected, but can Ashes hero Travis Head power them to another title? On paper the Sri Lankan lineup looks a lot of fun, but will playing at home help or hinder their chances? And can Ireland, Zimbabwe or Oman throw a spanner in the works? As the episode continues, we turn our lens towards England's chances in Group C, which also includes the West Indies, Italy, Nepal and Scotland. With Phil Salt, Jos Buttler, Harry Brook, Adil Rashid, Jofra Archer & co., England have plenty of matchwinners - but how many matches will they actually win? The West Indies have power players like Romario Shepherd and Rovman Powell in the lower order, but will the top order set a good enough platform? And will Tom Bruce's Scotland give us a classic World Cup moment? Or will it be the new boys Italy and Nepal? The final group could very well be the most closely fought, with New Zealand's Black Caps, South Africa and Afghanistan battling for two Super 8 spots along with Canada and the UAE. For New Zealand, the batters look in fine touch, with recent runs for Finn Allen, Glenn Phillips and Daryl Mitchell, but will it matter if the bowlers can't keep going the distance? South Africa pushed India hard in the 2024 final, and with Aiden Markram and Quinton de Kock leading the charge, will they go one better this time around? And you'd be brave to write off any side with Rashid Khan, an opening partnership of Ibrahim & Gurbaz, but the real question is - will Gulbadin fall over again? To round out the show, we make our predictions - semi-finalists, winners, top runscorer, top wicket-taker and some bold predictions that may or may not make us look silly in a month's time. We'll be back in your feed again regularly once the tournament starts - potentially with daily recaps from Day 1. England can finally toast a series victory this winter with a barnstorming batting performance in the final ODI in Sri Lanka. On the back of a 20th ODI century by Joe Root and a stylish 67 from Jacob Bethell, Harry Brook assaulted the wilting Sri Lankan attack as only he can with a quite remarkable 136 not out off 66 balls with nine sixes. It was a reminder of his exceptional talent which mostly went missing in the Ashes. It sets England up well for the T20 World Cup to follow, although, as Simon Hughes and Simon Mann discuss, the bowling is a worry. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

But in a modern, high-performance environment, is that culture quietly doing more damage than good?On this episode of The KimAppa Show, Jarrod Kimber and Robin Uthappa unpack whether alcohol-centric team cultures can become toxic — blurring professionalism, affecting preparation, and potentially stunting player development. They explore where the line lies between camaraderie and complacency, and why elite sport increasingly demands sharper off-field standards. The discussion also touches on the recently reported incident involving Harry Brook at a bar, including the presence of a bouncer, and how moments like these quickly become lightning rods for wider debates about accountability, scrutiny, and the pressures faced by young stars in the public eye.Rather than judging individuals, Jarrod and Robin zoom out to examine what these flashpoints reveal about leadership, expectations, and whether English cricket's long-romanticized “boys' club” culture still fits the demands of the modern game.-You can buy my new book 'The Art of Batting' here:India: https://amzn.in/d/8nt6RU1UK: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1399416545-To support the podcast please go to our Patreon page. https://www.patreon.com/user?u=32090121.
