Cleveland writer Hoynes earns HOF call with renamed Platinum Pen Award and Baskin and Phelps have him on to congratulate him and talk to him about the 2026 Guardians season.
Full Third Hour of Baskin and Phelps on December 11, 2025.
Highlights: Cleveland.com's Paul Hoynes has won the BBWAA Career Excellence Award, the highest honor for baseball writers, securing his place in the Baseball Hall of Fame. Terry Pluto praised Hoynes' "utterly remarkable" work ethic and elite writing talent, noting his longevity in the demanding field is highly impressive. The Browns' special teams fell down on the job again, with a blocked punt and a long return vs. the Titans. Coach Kevin Stefanski's uncharacteristically public criticism of the run defense is seen as a sign of significant internal frustration. An analytics-driven, late-game two-point conversion strategy was undone by poor execution, including a fumbled snap and a mistimed trick play. An argument that the Browns should use high draft picks on offensive linemen and receivers instead of a QB, as top rookie QBs often fail without a strong supporting cast. QB Shedeur Sanders benefited from not playing early in the season, as it allowed him to go to "pro football school" and learn the NFL system, similar to Patrick Mahomes's development, Terry says. Sanders's impressive performance has revived optimism for the Browns, leading Stefanski to name him the starter for the remainder of the season to evaluate his potential. Terry says Stefanski appears "mentally worn out," and while his job is precarious, a strong finish to the season led by Sanders could potentially save his position. The Cavs' 14-11 start is a major disappointment, with the team looking "discombobulated" due to player injuries and a flawed, three-point-heavy "lazy offense." Darius Garland's poor shooting and defensive struggles raise serious concerns that he is not fully recovered from foot surgery, prompting suggestions that he should rest. A Guardians fan writes to question why the team re-signed catcher Austin Hedges for $4 million, and cites his low batting average. Outfielder Chase DeLauter is identified as the Guardians' true top prospect, possessing a rare combination of size, power, and skill, with only his injury history being a concern. We present our The West Wing (Season 6) review! The sixth season of the American political drama television series The West Wing aired in the United States on NBC from October 20, 2004, to April 6, 2005, and consisted of 22 episodes. The sixth season opens with the Israeli and Palestinian delegations arriving at Camp David for peace talks. Despite problems at the summit, a deal is thrashed out by President Bartlet, but not before he fires Leo as chief of staff. Leo suffers a heart attack in the aftermath, leading to a re-shuffle of the White House staff. CJ Cregg becomes chief of staff but she finds it difficult to adapt, a fact not helped by the President's worsening multiple sclerosis and consequent interference from the First Lady in an effort to conserve his energy. Away from the White House, Josh convinces Texas Congressman Matt Santos to run for president, and after a shaky start, Santos finds himself in a three-way race for the Democratic nomination with Vice President Russell and former Vice President Hoynes. While the Republican primaries provide a clear winner in California Senator Arnold Vinick, a moderate, the Democratic ticket is not finalized until the Democratic National Convention, at which Santos is chosen as the presidential nominee, with Leo as his running mate. Meanwhile, someone at the White House has leaked national security information to reporter Greg Brock.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

And you can hear why one of his columns in 2016 sent him into Lake Erie before another World Series run ended in a legendary Game 7. This is the first of a 2-part conversation with Paul Hoynes, who has covered Major League Baseball in Cleveland since 1983. We hit some of the “Hoynsie” greatest hits, including the Hawk Call and the tale of two belts. He tells us about working in hometown, competing (and laughing) on the beat with friends, and riding the rush of deadline. Hoynsie puts us in cavernous Municipal Stadium when the stands were mostly empty and the team was awful in the 1980s. Hear about advice he took from Joe Carter, scuffling with Mel Hall, and sailing the choppy waters around Albert Belle. We even work in a football story: Red Right 88. Sorry, Browns fans. Part 2 comes out April 24 and that episode will pick up when the Indians, now known as the Guardians, began their glorious run in the 1990s. Like most 21 year olds, Robin Hoynes looked forward to celebrating Halloween with her family and friends. Unfortunately, she wouldn't live to see the holiday. While working a closing shift the night before, Robin paid the ultimate price when she stood between William Charles Marshall and that night's profits. It's a tale quite more complicated than a robbery gone wrong though. While all signs pointed to William as the perpetrator, the case nearly went cold. It was another 23 years before he would face justice and only after creating a whole new life for himself.
