Daniela Caldellas is an electronic musician from Brazil. Having broken through as part of Digitaria on DJ Hell's International DeeJay Gigolo Records and latterly on Jamie Jones' Hot Creations, she launched Terr as a solo project in 2016 and has just released a debut album entitled Consciousness As A State Of Matter under that name via Phantasy Sound. We discuss her journey from Bela Horizonte to Berlin via Barcelona, the culture shock of the touring lifestyle, trying to keep your perspective while working as an artist, and the importance of other interests. Daniela is an interesting person who just released a great record - dig into the conversation and then check the album! Degradation by Yoikol ft. an SCB edit of the title track is OUT NOW. It's our 45th episode of Broken Records and we're looking into the curious case of Fischerspooner, the electroclash duo and performance troupe formed in 1998 in Chicago after Warner Fischer and Casey Spooner met at school. #1 is the first full-length album by electroclash duo Fischerspooner released in 2001. It originally received a limited run on International DeeJay Gigolo Records, and contained "The 15th", a cover of a Wire song from their album 154. #1 has been re-pressed several times with a different track listing. The title "Fucker" was also censored on subsequent releases, either as "!@*$%#", "*#!@¥¿", or "*#!@Y?". "Sweetness", "L.A. Song" and "Megacolon", all from the re-issue were originally released together on an EP titled #1 Supplement that was discontinued in time for the first re-issue. A limited edition pressing from 2003 also included a DVD with several remixes, a documentary, as well as four videos—"Sweetness", "The 15th" and two versions of "Emerge". The album itself is … ok!?? Certainly not your usual Broken Records fare, so why oh why is #1 (working title ‘Best Album Ever') in our hatful of shit?
It's been a while but Simon returns with a homage to DJ Hell and International Deejay Gigolo Records. The label dominated the early 2000's and are still blazing a trail today. Techno, house and a disco dancer all from Munich, Paris, Montreal and Ghent.
When you call yourself DJ Hell, it's obvious you want to let your listeners know what to expect. Sure, you could be plundering the Coldplay back catalogue, but you know whatever you're getting yourself into, it's not going to be easy listening. Thankfully, Helmut Geier doesn't seem keen on Chris Martin and his merry band of Tories, his brand of Hell is one of chaotic, punk-laced electronica; and his label, International DeeJay Gigolo Records, is a perfect expression of his sound.Founded in 1996, the label was a driving force in the sound that became known as electroclash. From upstarts such as Fischerspooner and Miss Kittin & The Hacker, to stalwarts like Jeff Mills and Dave Clarke, Hell's DIY label gained ground quickly, and established itself as Germany's most successful label of its kind in the new century. Celebrating the very best of its raw energy, Øhm Sweet Øhm plugs into the abode of the damned for a fiery helping of throbbing electro. Straight from Mr Hell's own inferno, this is International DeeJay Gigolo Records. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

For podcast number seven we turn to the exceptionally talented German DJ that is Mick Wills. Rather than searching for the spotlight, Mick is DJ who cares only about the people dancing in front of him. He isn’t in this game to become a famous superstar headliner, he just wants to play records without a care in the world. And that is exactly what he does at knowing clubs around Europe. As a producer he has a small but perfectly formed discography with releases on International Deejay Gigolo Records, but it are his DJ skills that we focus on here. His two hour mix was recorded live at a Knekelhuis event at Amsterdam’s Studio 80 and starts off with some supple techno and intergalactic atmospheres before churning up his grooves with rough textures, kinked electro beats and tripped out acid jack. Getting deeper in the second half, the mix seamlessly transitions through many scenes and styles, taking listeners up, down and round and round in the process. Strap yourself in, then, and enjoy the ride. CONTAINER PODCAST [26] TERENCE FIXMER *Podcast from CLR Terence Fixmer is one of France’s most treasured protagonists. Respected by his peers and adored by his fans, he is equally at ease in both club and festival settings, capable of traversing the gamut of electronic genres from electro, industrial and EBM to techno in its purest form. Since debuting on DJ Hell’s now seminal International Deejay Gigolo Records back in 1998, Fixmer has consistently explored and redefined the boundaries of modern techno, developing a distinct and fiercely original style along the way. His first album for Gigolo, ‘Muscle Machine’ (1999), lit the way for a new take on more dancefloor-focused EBM music, coined “techno body music”, which he would continue to explore on follow-up records for Gigolo as well as Novamute, Datapunk, Music Man and Dave Clarke’s label White Noise. In 2003 he teamed up with Nitzer Ebb vocalist, Douglas McCarthy, to form Fixmer / McCarthy. A partnership that has resulted in two full-length albums, ‘Between The Devil’ (2004) and ‘Into The Night’ (2008) on Synthetic Symphony, and a series of EPs for his own Planete Rouge Records. The duo have performed their energetic live sets at renowned clubs and festivals all across the globe, simultaneously mining the brutality of techno body music and the sensuality of pop to create truly pioneering sound fusions. Whilst Planete Rouge functioned primarily as an outlet for Fixmer / McCarthy works, in 2011 Fixmer reactivated the label with a string of EPs from Emmanuel Top. Newcomers Alexey Volkov and Hubot have since graced the label, with further releases pegged from Emmanuel Top and Fixmer himself to come. But it is with Speedy J’s Electric Deluxe stable that Fixmer has lately been reinventing himself once again. Landing on the label early on with ‘Machine’ at that start of 2009, he has since put out a series of diverse EPs, moving away from his EMB heritage to explore deep and dubbier climes. In 2010 he released his fourth LP, ‘Comedy of Menace’, a true techno album composed from dark atmospheres and hypnotic energy, received to critical acclaim. Releases on Prologue, Turbo, and CLR have since followed, proving Fixmer’s continued relevance and restless aversion to a singular sound. Meanwhile his records have featured on many notable mixes, including Agoria’s Fabric 57 CD and Ben Klock’s latest compilation for the London institution, as well as podcast from luminaries like Juan Atkins, Laurent Garnier and Jon Hopkins. With a fifth full length in the pipeline, Fixmer is showing no signs of slowing down. He is a true innovator who shall remain at the forefront, and a firm favourite of producers, DJs and music lovers from all generations.
