Barcelona have dipped back into the German market, sealing a €22 million deal (plus add-ons) to bring winger Karim Adeyemi to Camp Nou from Borussia Dortmund. Following the marquee arrival of Anthony Gordon, Hansi Flick is building a terrifyingly fast attack. In this episode, we unpack why Dortmund were willing to cash in on the 24-year-old, how his blistering pace and tactical versatility fit alongside Lamine Yamal, and whether a reunion with his former national team coach can reignite his explosive potential. `KarimAdeyemi` `FCBarcelona` `BorussiaDortmund` `HansiFlick` `LaLiga2026` `AnthonyGordon` `TransferNews` `CampNou` `TacticalAnalysis`
One of the biggest moments in our company's history happened this month. Fresh off Spain's World Cup victory, Lamine Yamal was spotted wearing our Private Selection hat during the FIFA World Cup Final. In this episode, we break down how it happened, what it means for the brand, and what's next. We also officially announce our partnership with Monster Energy and dive into another packed episode of sneakers, streetwear, collectibles, and everything happening in culture. In this episode we discuss:
The famous residents of an exclusive suburb just outside Barcelona have included footballers like Gerard Pique and Andres Iniesta, and international pop stars like Shakira. Recent World Cup winner Lamine Yamal is currently enjoying the spoils of a multi-million euro purchase there. But a German businessman's address in the neighbourhood has now scuppered his chance of application to be declared bankrupt in Ireland. Last year, 44-year-old former convict Denis Melcher, who had amassed debts of close to €8m, convinced Ireland's High Court to adjudicate him bankrupt. As part of this process, Melcher submitted a sworn statement in which he declared that he was living in a modest rental home in Carlow. However, at the time, Melcher was secretly spending €8,500 per month to lease a four-storey mansion overlooking Barcelona, with an option to purchase the property for €2.6m. The revelation has raised fears that the Irish bankruptcy regime is now seen as an easy target for foreign nationals looking to shed colossal debts. On this episode of The Indo Daily, host Fionnán Sheahan is joined by Irish Independent Legal Affairs Editor Shane Phelan to examine the implications of this curious case. Red, White & Blues FC | 4:45 AM Football, a Set-Piece Guru, and a Plan to Get a New GoalkeeperChelsea are in Sydney, we are not waking up for it, and Xabi Alonso just gave us a reason to root against our own back line.Preseason is here, which means Chelsea are on the other side of the planet playing Western Sydney Wanderers at 4:45 in the morning our time. We open by loudly committing to live stream it and then immediately un-committing, which tells you most of what you need to know about how much stock we put in the Sydney Super Cup. But underneath the jokes there's actually a bit of optimism creeping in this year — a training session that looked like real coaching, a new set-piece coach who might be the best in the business, and a manager saying things a manager is supposed to say. Then there's the goalkeeper situation, where we land on a plan so stupid it might work.Australia at 4:45 AM, and Why We're Even ThereThe tour is Sydney (Western Sydney Wanderers, then Tottenham), Hong Kong, Jakarta, and Malaysia, with Juventus and AC Milan in there too, a Real Sociedad friendly at Stamford Bridge on August 15, and then the season opener away at Fulham because we are apparently never allowed a home opener. Jason's read: this is a cash grab with terrible timing, and if BlueCo would just sell the front of the shirt — four years running now — maybe we wouldn't need to be chasing the Australian and Southeast Asian markets at dawn. Daniel's more forgiving: let the boys go on tour, do some PR, build rapport with a new manager. We check the weather in all four cities like the professionals we are. We also agree that a Tottenham derby in Sydney is not a derby, because nobody out there is going to hate anybody properly.Preseason Expectations: Please Just Don't Get HurtJason's forecast is bleak and specific — one to five players will get injured, they'll be pivotal, and the transfer strategy hasn't accounted for it, because it never does. Daniel finds the silver lining: minutes for the academy lads, Levi Colwill getting his legs back, Cole Palmer maybe getting going, and Estêvão on the pitch. We're missing Caicedo, possibly Enzo, Reece James, Morgan Rogers, and Geovany Quenda, which limits what anyone can actually learn. The bar is simple: don't lose to Western Sydney Wanderers, don't lose to the side in Jakarta. Lose to Tottenham, Juventus, or Milan and fine, we're learning a new system. And if there is one prayer we're saying out loud, it's that Estêvão comes home in one piece.Austin MacPhee Is Here and He's a Glorious BastardThe genuine highlight. Chelsea have hired Austin MacPhee from Aston Villa, the Scottish set-piece specialist who also works with the Portugal national team, whose Villa side outscored every club in Europe's top five leagues from set pieces in 23/24 and finished joint-top with Arsenal in the Premier League last season — the difference being Arsenal shat their way to it and MacPhee does it properly. If this podcast has one recurring complaint over four years, it's Chelsea set pieces. We once lost our minds over a short corner under Pochettino. Hiring an actual set-piece guru, rather than another motivational coach imported to install a “winning mentality,” is the single clearest sign that somebody at the club is taking this seriously. Daniel is now on a mission to find MacPhee's Twitter, ask him his favorite scotch, and get him on the show. Austin, if you're listening: there's also Miller Lite, and you look like a Miller Lite guy.The Goalkeeper Plan (Root Against Your Own Defense)Xabi Alonso has said everything is open, every position, and per Ben Jacobs on the CFC Hub he's asked the club for time to assess the keepers in preseason before making a recommendation. Which leads Daniel to the big-brain question: shouldn't we then want to ship a load of goals in Australia? Jason is fully on board — a preseason loss tells you nothing about the club, but it tells you plenty about the goalkeeper. So, Levi and Josh, do us a solid and let a few in. Underneath the bit is a real argument we go back and forth on. Robert Sánchez is a genuinely excellent shot-stopper — 95 saves, nine clean sheets, statistically a better shot-stopper than Mike Maignan, in a harder league — and the 47 goals conceded says as much about Wesley Fofana's pace, Tosin's one-v-one defending, and Mamadou Sarr as it does about him. But he can't distribute, he can't play with his feet, and every manager keeps asking him to do exactly that. There's a £60m keeper with a release clause sitting there in Diogo Costa who does both. Pay it, keep Penders, and let us stop holding our breath every time the ball rolls back.Estêvão vs. Yamal, and the Photo We Refuse to BelieveWe close on the good stuff. Alonso on Estêvão: “plays with the confidence of someone who's been in Europe for years — age means nothing when the talent is that special.” We both think this is his breakout year and the hype only grows. Jason rates him above Lamine Yamal for one reason: humility. The only off-pitch photos of Estêvão are of him in church; Yamal's are from the club. Not a moral judgment, just a pattern — Messi didn't live that way, Ronaldo didn't live that way, and Daniel's comparison point is Neymar, all that talent shadowed by off-pitch noise and injuries. And speaking of Messi, we are not letting go of the bathtub photo. Why did nobody see that image until the World Cup? We're calling AI, we're calling gaslight, and we're calling for a whole midweek episode of football conspiracy theories where we take turns dragging each other down the rabbit hole. This is a public episode. If you would like to discuss this with other subscribers or get access to bonus episodes, visit redwhitebluesfc.substack.com
Mike Palmer and Tarlin Ray return to Running It Back: Lessons Learned from Sports after a short hiatus. Repping a questionable Brooklyn-purchased ESPANA button-down shirt, Mike breaks down his recent bike crash on Smith Street, how a helmet saved his head, and how he turned his couch recovery into a World Cup viewing lounge using Mobilegs and an Amazon projector. From there, Mike and Tarlin dive into the 2026 World Cup, exploring how Spain's championship run demonstrated the power of team orchestration over raw star power. EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS Bike Crashes and Rehab Tech: Mike recounts going over his handlebars in Carroll Gardens to avoid a pedestrian, the importance of wearing a helmet, and navigating soft-tissue recovery with Mobi Legs and a cheap projector setup. Soccer to NBA Player Comps: Tarlin puts Mike on the spot with rapid-fire comparisons, matching Erling Haaland to early Luka Dončić, Mbappé to Kobe or Jordan, Jude Bellingham to Jaylen Brown, and Lionel Messi to LeBron James. Bad Bunny has just closed a historic chapter in his career, wrapping up his Debí Tirar Más Fotos World Tour while simultaneously breaking a major touring record and staying highly visible in pop culture and sports conversation. According to CNN en Español and Los40 México, Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio ended the Debí Tirar Más Fotos World Tour on July 22 with an emotional, sold‑out show at King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels, Belgium, the final stop of a massive run that crossed four continents and 20 countries and is being described as one of the most successful tours of his life. Los40 and Oncenoticias report that the tour reached 56–57 shows, moved over two million tickets in its first 41 dates alone, and generated more than 360 million dollars from those initial shows, with final estimates pushing the full run toward roughly 430–450 million dollars in gross revenue. In Brussels, outlets like Los40 Argentina and Los40 España describe Bad Bunny visibly moved, in tears, thanking the crowd and treating the night as “the end of an era,” a symbolic closing of this phase of his global stadium dominance. Fans posted clips across X, TikTok, and Instagram of him speaking emotionally to the audience, bowing to the crowd, and closing with surprise moments and an exclusive song performance that turned the last stop into a kind of farewell celebration for the tour. The final week of the tour also brought drama. Europafm and El Sol de Mendoza report that his second show in Milan, Italy, had to be evacuated and ultimately canceled due to a sudden, intense storm with heavy rain and hail that created a dangerous situation for roughly 80,000 attendees. Live Nation Italia confirmed that the date would not be rescheduled, but all tickets would be fully refunded. On social media, videos of the chaotic evacuation and lightning over the venue went viral, while Bad Bunny took to the stage and later to his channels to promise he would return to Milan in a future tour, telling fans that there are things “in God's hands,” acknowledging that safety had to come first. Beyond the tour logistics, one of the biggest news angles this week is the scale of Bad Bunny's live business. Los40 República Dominicana and Los40 US report that, based on Billboard Boxscore data, he has now become the first Latino artist to surpass 1,000 million dollars in career touring revenue, crossing about 1.08 billion dollars across 260 reported shows. That total combines Debí Tirar Más Fotos with earlier tours such as Most Wanted Tour, El Último Tour del Mundo, and his pre‑pandemic runs, putting him in an elite group of global touring legends and underscoring how much he's transformed the economics of Latin music on a stadium scale. Gala in Germany notes that he has again topped Billboard's monthly Top Tours chart, marking the tenth time his name leads that global ranking. On social media, fans and music accounts have been framing this as a turning point: clips and threads on X and TikTok talk about him as the face of a “new touring era” for Spanish‑language music, highlighting the fact that he filled stadiums in places like Australia, Portugal, France, Poland, and Italy, markets where a Spanish‑speaking urban artist had rarely, if ever, dominated venues at this scale. Many listeners are speculating what comes next, reading the “end of an era” messaging as the start of a new artistic phase, possibly a stylistic shift or a more politically engaged period, especially in light of his recent video for NUEVAYoL, which outlets like XEVA describe as full of social and political imagery and criticism of inequality and anti‑immigrant rhetoric in the United States. Even with the tour over, Bad Bunny has remained present in the broader cultural conversation this week. TV Azteca notes that he shared an Instagram Story during the FIFA World Cup 2026 final, showing a screen with the match and figurines of Lionel Messi and Lamine Yamal, confirming that he was following the game closely from a beach‑like setting and subtly inserting himself into the world's biggest sporting event conversation without an official performance. For listeners, the big picture over these past seven days is clear: Bad Bunny has closed a globe‑spanning stadium tour in emotional fashion, navigated a storm‑forced cancellation with promises to return, shattered the one‑billion‑dollar touring barrier for Latin artists, and kept his presence felt in sports and social debates, all while hinting that a new chapter is coming after what he and the media are calling the end of an era. Send us Fan MailFor this episode, we return to a 2021 interview with Zahir Zaydani, the penname of a grassroots Palestinian intellectual from the West Bank.As the news cycle escalates, returning to deeper, historical lines of analytical frameworks closer to the source ensures that we don't let the headlines obscure the forest for the trees. But first, some news...Story 1:When Ferran Torres scored in the 106th minute to seal Spain's 1–0 World Cup victory over Argentina, the street celebrations and reactions from Madrid to Buenos Aires—and across Gaza's displaced tent camps—played out as a direct geopolitical clash. The match followed a complete rupture between Madrid and Tel Aviv. After Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez recognized Palestinian statehood, imposed an arms embargo, and banned Israel-bound military cargo from Spanish ports, Benjamin Netanyahu issued a video statement in Hebrew accusing Spain of "waging a diplomatic war" and warning that Madrid "will pay an immediate price". Netanyahu's office accused Sánchez of issuing a "genocidal threat," escalating diplomatic hostility to an unprecedented peak.On the pitch, 19-year-old prodigy Lamine Yamal carried that political weight; his waving of the Palestinian flag during Barcelona's title parade had drawn public condemnation from Israeli officials. Opposing him was Lionel Messi's Argentina, aligned with Javier Milei's pro-Israel stance. Messi's commercial ties to Tel Aviv AI firm OrCam—founded by Israeli military intelligence veterans—and his reliance on Israeli private security details gave Argentina's team a distinct perceived Israeli alignment. For some global audiences, Spain's victory served as a public assertion of Palestinian rights and international law over state-backed & corporatized military intelligence powers of persecution and intimidation.Story 2: Capitol Hill is currently locked in legislative standoff over the future of binational U.S.-Israel security ties.At issue is Section 219 of the National Defense Authorization Act—derived from the U.S.-Israel FUTURES Act—which creates a Department of War executive agent to hardwire cyber-military intelligence integration between Washington and Tel Aviv. The provision authorizes joint operations in AI target processing, autonomous systems, quantum computing, missile defense and real-time data fusion. The bill has now triggered severe deadlock. House leadership blocked a bipartisan amendment by Representatives Ro Khanna and Thomas Massie to strip the measure. Shortly after, Senate leadership brought the broader NDAA to a procedural vote, where a 50–46 majority blocked the bill. Opposing lawmakers cite warnings from former intelligence officials that structural integration risks installing surveillance backdoors and bypassing congressional oversight. The legislative battle now moves to conference committee negotiations. -----You can find the Understanding Israel Palestine archives at its show page at https://kkfi.org/program/understanding-israel-palestine/and the Beyond the Walls newsletter on Substack at https://beyondthewalls.substack.com

Send us Fan MailThis week I'm breaking format for a special Maester Athletes episode, built around this year's World Cup 2026 of soccer. I tell the story behind the photo that went viral right before the match — Lionel Messi bathing a baby at a charity event almost two decades ago, a baby who grew up to be Lamine Yamal, the very player who faced him on the pitch. I dig into why I never doubted that photo was real (it's all about who you trust as a news source), why the hug between Messi and Yamal after the final is the most Project Weight Loss moment of the entire tournament, and what Kylian Mbappé's Golden Boot run — plus his answer about "collective spirit" in his Wall Street Journal interview — can teach us about discipline, joy, and showing up for our own goals without blame or shame.I also walk through the real research behind why some people stick to their goals and others don't: Gollwitzer and Sheeran's 94-study meta-analysis on implementation intentions, a British Journal of Health Psychology study on exercise follow-through, and why motivation and information alone are never enough without a plan and regular self-monitoring. If you're working your own Project Weight Loss — on your body, your relationships, or your work in the world — this episode gives you the if-then framework to get back up fast when you slip, the way these athletes do. Share it with someone who needs to hear it this week, and don't forget to write down your own if-then plan.Quote of the Week: "To never stop dreaming, it's something free. Of course you have to work. Of course you have to do, like you said, sacrifice. But the most important thing is you have to dream. You can be young, you can be old, you can be whatever you want, but everybody can dream. On The Morning Shift, Ali Mac, Mike Johnson and Beau Morgan spend some time with Atlanta United Color Analyst, Host of Atlanta Soccer Tonight, and 92.9 The Game's own soccer insider and analyst Jason Longshore! Ali, Mike, Beau, and Jason discuss if Jason thought the first ever FIFA World Cup Halftime Show interfered with the match at all, if Jason thinks Spain beating Argentina in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final match 1-0 in extra time yesterday came down to Spain just being the better team, having the better roster, and taking down a team in Argentina that was just a good team with the best player of all-time on it, Spain not going anywhere between now and the 2030 FIFA World Cup, and where Lionel Messi's 2026 FIFA World Cup performance ranks among his career.
"It's all good for Robbie Williams." Spain has emerged as the victor of the 2026 World Cup, going down as one of the greatest defenses in sports history after shutting down the legendary Lionel Messi. Then, we have a frame-by-frame breakdown of (allegedly) cocaine flying out of the mouth of a pop star, and the Miami Heat are emerging as a betting favorite to land LeBron James... thanks to Chris Cote? UFC's Bantamweight Superstar “Suga” Sean O'Malley joins the boys to discuss Conor McGregor's BRUTAL leg injury Vs Max Holloway, his ICONIC Salute KO at the White House, Paddy Pimblett Vs Logan Paul, taking the belt back from Petr Yan, losing $101,000 on Argentina
Jason Whitlock breaks down what the Lionel Messi-Lamine Yamal World Cup moment reveals about legacy, mentorship, and the scarcity mindset eating black American culture from the inside — and why Tom Brady's Logan Paul stunt falls well below the Jordan standard. Lamine Yamal — the baby Lionel Messi bathed in a 2007 charity calendar — beat Messi at the World Cup final, leading Spain past Argentina 1-0. Messi blessed his successor publicly, competed to beat him, lost gracefully, and walked away bigger than the trophy. That's the Jordan standard: You build what comes after you, even when it costs you the crown. Michael Jordan never gave LeBron James that grace. And Tom Brady? He's spending his post-retirement chasing Logan Paul's influencer lane, diluting the most powerful brand in football history for likes and relevance. Two men who inherited the Jordan standard — and only one of them honored it. ➢ Show Outline 00:00 - Messi vs. Jordan: Passing the Torch 02:15 - Michael Jordan's Legacy and LeBron James 05:18 - Tom Brady's Post-Retirement Choices 10:18 - David Portnoy on Brady's “Downfall” 16:17 - Scarcity, Fame and Lasting Reverence 20:54 - Brady's Public Life After Divorce 27:32 - Protecting the Legacy of Great Athletes 33:45 - Athletes Who Improved Their Legacies in Retirement 40:22 - The WNBA's “Victimhood Olympics” 41:14 - The Sandy Brondello and Angel Reese Controversy 48:08 - The WNBA's Broader Agenda 52:56 - Caitlin Clark and the WNBA's Opportunity 1:00:02 - The WNBA Beyond Basketball 1:09:09 Caitlin Clark and Inconsistent Officiating ➢ Follow Our GUESTS https://www.youtube.com/@DreAllDay https://x.com/SteveKim323 ➢ Subscribe to Jason's other channel https://www.youtube.com/JasonWhitlock?sub_confirmation=1 https://www.youtube.com/@JasonWhitlockHarmony?sub_confirmation=1 https://www.youtube.com/@JasonWhitlockBYOG?sub_confirmation=1 https://www.youtube.com/@JasonWhitlockClips?sub_confirmation=1 ➢ Connect with Jason on Social Media: https://x.com/JasonWhitlock https://www.instagram.com/realjasonwhitlock/ https://www.facebook.com/jasonwhitlock ➢ Send Jason an Email FearlessBlazeShow@gmail.com ➢ Support The Blaze Visit https://TheBlaze.com. RUNDOWN Mitch and Hotshot Scott open Episode 391 by previewing football season for patrons before a laugh about Scott's father-in-law hijacking the family's evening. They hit the Mariners' 100-game .500 mark, reminisce about the Big Red Machine, then shift to the World Cup, where both stayed hooked long after Team USA's exit. Mitch and Scott rave about teenage phenom Lamine Yamal, poke fun at FIFA's halftime show, preview Seahawks camp, Ryan Fox's British Open win, and Bryson DeChambeau's penalty. Ray Roberts and Mitch discuss Seattle's new ownership, why the defending Super Bowl champs still seem overlooked, and what the Seahawks gained—and lost—this offseason. Roberts also shares hilarious training camp stories, from sneaking home to sleep in his own bed to finally meeting childhood hero Ed "Too Tall" Jones, the player who inspired him to wear No. 72. Mitch, Joe Doyle, and Brady Farkas break down another uneven Mariners series as Seattle reaches the 100-game mark at 50-50. They argue Dan Wilson has become an unfair scapegoat for a flawed roster, praise Cole Young's continued rise, and discuss Julio Rodríguez's return, Colt Emerson's progress, and looming roster decisions. Mitch welcomes three beat reporters who know the Mariners' top draft picks better than anyone. Sam Sklar breaks down first-round slugger Ace Reese, Koki Riley explains why LSU outfielder Jake Brown could become a second-round steal, and Scott Springer profiles Cincinnati right-hander Nathan Taylor, whose bulldog mentality and dominant slider made him one of the draft's best values. Together, they provide an inside look at Seattle's newest wave of talent and what fans can expect from each prospect. Christian Polanco and Alexis Guerreros cap off their 11-city Breakaway Tour with an electric live reaction show immediately following Spain's 1-0 World Cup Final victory over Argentina. They also marvel at Spain's historic achievement of conceding just one single goal across eight World Cup matches. The conversation turns to post-match awards as the hosts analyze Rodri earning the Golden Ball, comparing his quiet, game-controlling influence to sports legends like Shane Battier and Sergio Busquets.
