We welcome Cam Clarke for a fascinating deep dive into one of the most successful musical dynasties in American entertainment: The King Family. Cam takes us behind the scenes with the legendary singing group, and then Cam, a talented voice actor goes is and out of famous roles as we 'interview' some of his most beloved V.O. characters!Cam is the son of Alyce King, one of the original King Sisters, whose harmonies launched in the early 1930s and eventually grew into a multi-generational act that included children, grandchildren, cousins, and extended family, all uniting in song and populating iconic ABC series and specials throughout the 1960s. Cam walks us through the group's vaudeville roots, and their early days singing on the radio, all beginning on a Christmas morning where Cam's Mom, Aunts and Uncles each received a musical instrument and instructions from their music teacher Dad. His goal was to build a family band. He created a dynasty. We explore how The King Family evolved and rebranded across decades: From a Big Band vocal group in the 40's to jazz harmonies and the 50's blonde Hollywood glam look, to the TV friendly family ensemble of the 60s and 70s.Cam shares inside stories about how costumes were passed down from one child to the next and how King Sisters, King Kiddies, and King Cousins all fit into the ever-growing and evolving act.We also discuss Now They're All Here, Cam's large and glorious coffee table book on the King Family, inspired by George Plimpton's oral biography of Truman Capote, and written in the first person voices of King Family members over the past 100 years. And Cam speaks candidly about his own sexual orientation, sharing how he came out to his entire family at a typical family meal, as the conversation and the timing felt right. His truth was completely accepted.Plus, Jamie Alcroft, who will hold a position of honor on the non profit One Legacy Tournament of Roses Parade float on New Year's Day, joins us to talk about his important work with the LAFF4LIFE program and his experience as an organ transplant recipient! In current media --Weezy: Simon Cowell: The Next Act on NetflixFritz: The movie F1, streaming on Apple TV+Path Points of Interest:Cam ClarkeNow They're All Here: The King Family by Cam ClarkeCam Clarke on WikipediaCam Clarke on IMDBCam Clarke on InstagramThe King Family on WikipediaDonate LifeOne LegacySimon Cowell: The Next ActF1 on Apple TV

In Part 2 of his annual Holiday Gift Guide, Dennis talks to creative entrepreneurs Scott Willams and Cam Clarke. Scott discovered a passion for ceramics during the pandemic and has since launched a side business called SEW Ceramics, based in Cambria, California. His Strata line of clay lamps are his most popular items to date. Each is one-of-a-kind because, as Scott quips, "I couldn't duplicate them if I tried." Scott talks about how getting his hands dirty has served as an escape from the stresses of modern life, the crafty grandmother who inspired his artistic side and how he comes up with cool names for his lamps, like Astra, Flint and Lumen. https://www.sewceramics.com/ Next up is Cam Clarke, the man behind the gorgeous new coffee table book Now They're All Here about The King Family of entertainers, which Cam is a member of. Cam reveals the slightly petty reason he took on the project, the discoveries he made along the way and what having the family's life and career documented in this way has meant to his relatives. He also talks about his career as a performer and voice-over artist (he was the OG voice of Leonardo in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!) and recalls the moment when he was 6 years-old and demonstrated a flair for the fabulous on live TV. https://camclarke.com/

Today on part two of our conversation on the Rarified Heir Podcast is with Cam Clarke, best known as a member of the King Family as well as his outstanding voice over acting career, we delve into some pretty great stuff. Oh sure we talk about his recently released book, Now They're All Here: the King Family, but also get into some stuff that frankly, makes doing this podcast in the first place, so rewarding. Yes there are laughs, but as you hear, there are also some tears. We discuss everything from fan conventions, B-movie science fiction films his father Robert Clarke starred in, meeting Jeff Goldblum, being mistaken for another celebrity when his car broke down on the freeway and the book Interview with a Vampire among many other things. We also discuss the Mormon / Christian rock album, stage production and film Saturday's Child, written by his brother Lex de Azevedo that featured Cam at age 16. Along the way, we discuss a heartwarming green room encounter with a member of the cast of One Day at a Time, an Irwin Allen TV show from the 70s, stalkers and why meeting your idols can be either everything you want it to be or a terrible experience. Regardless, Cam was engaging, honest very funny. As always. So take a listen to part two of our conversation with Cam Clarke because this is the Rarified Heir Podcast and everyone has a story.

Chivalry: Why Society Desperately Needs It (Even Though It Pretends It Doesn't) Ah, chivalry—the ancient art of basic human decency wrapped up in a fancy name. Once upon a time, people held doors open, said “please” and “thank you,” and—brace yourself—actually cared about how they treated others. Shocking, right? Fast forward to today, and those little gestures are becoming as rare as a social media argument that actually ends in agreement. But who needs courtesy, respect, or basic kindness when we have smartphones to stare at instead of making eye contact with real humans? Respect: The Ancient Concept We Keep Forgetting Once upon a time, people believed in showing respect to others just because it was the decent thing to do. But hey, why bother when you can just demand respect without actually giving it? Chivalry was never about enforcing outdated gender roles—it was about treating people well. But sure, let's call it “problematic” while simultaneously complaining about how rude everyone is these days. Makes perfect sense. Stronger Relationships? Nah, Let's Just Ghost People Instead! Back in the day, chivalry meant putting in effort—holding doors, offering a kind word, or maybe just acknowledging another human being's existence. But let's be real, that's way too much work. Why build strong relationships when you can just swipe left or send a vague “u up?” text at 2 AM? Who needs meaningful connections when you can have emotionally detached situationships? Chivalry Is for Everyone (Yes, Even You, Karen) One of the biggest myths about chivalry is that it's just for men to be nice to women. Newsflash: kindness isn't gender-exclusive. Literally anyone can be chivalrous—holding doors, helping someone carry a heavy load, or maybe just not being a jerk. It's called being a decent human, but apparently, that's a radical concept now. The Fall of Courtesy: A Modern Tragedy Let's face it, society is in a full-blown courtesy crisis. People would rather shove past you to grab a latte than say “excuse me.” Online interactions are basically just a contest to see who can be the most offended, and don't even get me started on the death stare you get for daring to let someone merge in traffic. Chivalry may not be dead, but it's definitely on life support. The Super Difficult Solution (Hint: It's Not Difficult at All) Here's a wild idea—just be nice. That's it. No grand gestures, no medieval armor required. Just hold a door, say thank you, or maybe try acknowledging someone's existence without rolling your eyes. If we all put in the bare minimum effort, society might just feel a little less like a never-ending episode of a reality show where everyone is out to one-up each other in rudeness. So, should we keep chivalry alive? Only if we want a world where people don't act like self-absorbed gremlins. But hey, if you prefer chaos, by all means—keep pretending kindness is outdated. Just don't complain when no one holds the door for you.
Today on an all-new episode of the Rarified Heir Podcast, we are talking to returning guest Cam Clarke, a well-known voice actor and member of The King Family. While this is part one of two episodes, we begin our discussion around Cam's new book Now They're All Here: the King Family. Much more than a coffee table book, this project took years to put together with input from many King family members and comes in at a hefty 300+ pages on this history of America's First Family of Song. In fact, it comes out today, February 25th so buy one from your local independent bookseller after this episode. Like in our last conversation with Cam, we delve into the 30+ member King Family's origins, their television series & specials in the 1960s, the familial bonds of working together with your family as well as Can's place within the dynamic. We also discussed how and why the book came about, why it was Cam who put the book together and somehow that involves another book about a very famous costume designer who happens to appears often on QVC. If you listen, you'll hear that story too. We also discuss Cam's career as an in demand voice-over actor, the weird connections he has to about 80 former guests of this podcast as well as the small, but not-so-insignificant details of being the child of a celebrity. What songs did his mother sing to him as a child at bedtime? Doesn't it just give you all the feels? We hope you enjoy this new podcast episode with Cam because we are again speaking with a child of a celebrity, interviewed by the child of a celebrity. This is the Rarified Heir Podcast and everyone has a story. Take a listen.
