This week's quiz: On 12 July, I asked you a question about our article “Seven Nobel laureates urge France to adopt a tax on the 'ultra-rich'”. The open letter, written by seven Economics Nobel laureates, urged the French government to implement a minimum tax on the wealthiest households in France. The laureates noted that while global billionaires hold assets equivalent to 14 percent of global GDP, French billionaires control wealth worth nearly 30 percent of France's GDP. Our article cited a proposed wealth tax, which was voted down by the French Senate (it did pass in the lower house, the Assembly). I asked you to send in the name of the bill and why it has that name. The answer is: The bill is called the Zucman bill, after Gabriel Zucman. As noted in our article, “The bill was based on proposals by French economist Gabriel Zucman. Initially passed by the National Assembly, the bill would have introduced a 'differential contribution' ensuring that individuals with more than €100 million in assets pay at least 2 percent of their annual wealth in taxes. “The aim was to curb the kinds of avoidance strategies employed by some ultra-wealthy individuals, who are often able to structure their assets in ways that greatly reduce their tax burdens.” In addition to the quiz question, there was the bonus question, suggested by Sultan Sarker, the president of the Shetu RFI Fan Club in Naogaon, Bangladesh. Sultan's question was: “What do you do when tragedy enters your life? How do you deal with the sorrow, the grief?” Do you have a bonus question idea? Send it to thesoundkitchen@rfi.fr The winners are: RFI Listeners Club member Admand Parajuli, the president of the Bandhu Listeners Club in Sunsari, Nepal. Congratulations, winners! Here's the music you heard on this week's programme: “Les Sauvages” from Jean Philippe Rameau's opera-ballet Les Indes Galantes; “Hail, Hail the Gang's All Here” by Theodora Morse and Arthur Sullivan, sung by the The Childen's Music Band; “Money Makes the World Go Around” from John Kander and Fred Ebb's musical Cabaret, sung by Liza Minnelli and Joel Grey; “The Flight of the Bumblebee” by Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov; “The Cakewalk” from Children's Corner by Claude Debussy, performed by the composer, and “Azúcar pa' ti” by Eddy Palmieri, performed by Eddy Palmieri and La Perfecta.   Do you have a music request? We discuss everything from fan conventions, B-movie science fiction films his father Robert Clarke starred in, meeting Jeff Goldblum, being mistaken for another celebrity when his car broke down on the freeway and the book Interview with a Vampire among many other things. We also discuss the Mormon / Christian rock album, stage production and film Saturday's Child, written by his brother Lex de Azevedo that featured Cam at age 16. Along the way, we discuss a heartwarming green room encounter with a member of the cast of One Day at a Time, an Irwin Allen TV show from the 70s, stalkers and why meeting your idols can be either everything you want it to be or a terrible experience. Regardless, Cam was engaging, honest very funny. As always. So take a listen to part two of our conversation with Cam Clarke because this is the Rarified Heir Podcast and everyone has a story.

This is me, the mic, ya'll listening, no notes and whatever is on my mind. Thanks for listening, take what you want, leave the rest. In this episode I get into keeping chivalry alive by leading by example. It is well know that our kids learn from us by watching. To see it in real time is on another level. Provng once again that communication is mostly non-verbal, enjoy! Chivalry: Why Society Desperately Needs It (Even Though It Pretends It Doesn't) Ah, chivalry—the ancient art of basic human decency wrapped up in a fancy name. Once upon a time, people held doors open, said “please” and “thank you,” and—brace yourself—actually cared about how they treated others. Shocking, right? Fast forward to today, and those little gestures are becoming as rare as a social media argument that actually ends in agreement. But who needs courtesy, respect, or basic kindness when we have smartphones to stare at instead of making eye contact with real humans? Respect: The Ancient Concept We Keep Forgetting Once upon a time, people believed in showing respect to others just because it was the decent thing to do. But hey, why bother when you can just demand respect without actually giving it? Chivalry was never about enforcing outdated gender roles—it was about treating people well. But sure, let's call it “problematic” while simultaneously complaining about how rude everyone is these days. Makes perfect sense. Stronger Relationships? Nah, Let's Just Ghost People Instead! Back in the day, chivalry meant putting in effort—holding doors, offering a kind word, or maybe just acknowledging another human being's existence. But let's be real, that's way too much work. Why build strong relationships when you can just swipe left or send a vague “u up?” text at 2 AM? Who needs meaningful connections when you can have emotionally detached situationships? Chivalry Is for Everyone (Yes, Even You, Karen) One of the biggest myths about chivalry is that it's just for men to be nice to women. Newsflash: kindness isn't gender-exclusive. Literally anyone can be chivalrous—holding doors, helping someone carry a heavy load, or maybe just not being a jerk. It's called being a decent human, but apparently, that's a radical concept now. The Fall of Courtesy: A Modern Tragedy Let's face it, society is in a full-blown courtesy crisis. People would rather shove past you to grab a latte than say “excuse me.” Online interactions are basically just a contest to see who can be the most offended, and don't even get me started on the death stare you get for daring to let someone merge in traffic. Chivalry may not be dead, but it's definitely on life support. The Super Difficult Solution (Hint: It's Not Difficult at All) Here's a wild idea—just be nice. That's it. No grand gestures, no medieval armor required. Just hold a door, say thank you, or maybe try acknowledging someone's existence without rolling your eyes. If we all put in the bare minimum effort, society might just feel a little less like a never-ending episode of a reality show where everyone is out to one-up each other in rudeness. So, should we keep chivalry alive? Only if we want a world where people don't act like self-absorbed gremlins. But hey, if you prefer chaos, by all means—keep pretending kindness is outdated. Just don't complain when no one holds the door for you.

Today on an all-new episode of the Rarified Heir Podcast, we are talking to returning guest Cam Clarke, a well-known voice actor and member of The King Family. While this is part one of two episodes, we begin our discussion around Cam's new book Now They're All Here: the King Family. Much more than a coffee table book, this project took years to put together with input from many King family members and comes in at a hefty 300+ pages on this history of America's First Family of Song. In fact, it comes out today, February 25th so buy one from your local independent bookseller after this episode. Like in our last conversation with Cam, we delve into the 30+ member King Family's origins, their television series & specials in the 1960s, the familial bonds of working together with your family as well as Can's place within the dynamic. We also discussed how and why the book came about, why it was Cam who put the book together and somehow that involves another book about a very famous costume designer who happens to appears often on QVC. If you listen, you'll hear that story too. We also discuss Cam's career as an in demand voice-over actor, the weird connections he has to about 80 former guests of this podcast as well as the small, but not-so-insignificant details of being the child of a celebrity. What songs did his mother sing to him as a child at bedtime? Doesn't it just give you all the feels? We hope you enjoy this new podcast episode with Cam because we are again speaking with a child of a celebrity, interviewed by the child of a celebrity. This is the Rarified Heir Podcast and everyone has a story. Take a listen.

Hey Everyone, Angela Bowen here, the host of She's A Small Wonder: A Small Wonder Podcast. It's 2025 and I'm hitting the ground running with the first four episodes of Season 4. Today I covered S4E1: Divided We Stand, which aired on September 17, 1989. In this episode The men and women camp separately, who has the better survival odds? Listen to find out. Bland start to a new Season especially with it being the final Season of the show. The last two season openers gave us Season 2 Chewed Out and Season 3 Woodward and Bernstein, gave us don't miss this episode vibes, this one was major weak sauce, middle of the season filler episode. S4E2: Double Date, which aired on September 24, 1988. In this episode Jamie, Vicki and Harriet have double dates. Typical being into two places at once double date scenario. It was funny and more going on. S4E3: The Gang's All Here, which aired on October 1, 1988. In this episode, Jamie and Vicki join a gang. Speaking of the episode Chewed Out, we get Adam Rich (Eight Is Enough fame) playing a bully of the Screaming Skulls gang instead of Pete, the guy who introduces Jamie and Reggie to chewing tobacco two Seasons ago, the only different is Adam Rich's mullet has gotten longer and stringier. Gross! and the last episode S4E4: Rashomon, which aired on October 15, 1988. In this episode the Lawson's along with Brandon and Harriet are invented by the Robotics Company president to this health spa and the kids and Brandon encounter a bugler. Then we are treated to 3 different versions of what happened and then we see what really happened, thanks to Vicki. I hope you enjoy the four episodes and I'll be back in February with the next four. Have a great rest of January everyone!
