Send us a textThe New York Giants are making headlines again, and in this segment of "2 Giants Goofballs: New York Giants News & Updates," Drew and Rob break down some of the biggest developments shaping the future of Big Blue. The Giants cleared over $10 million in cap space by restructuring star pass rusher Brian Burns' contract, allowing them to finalize the signing of rookie linebacker Abdul Carter. According to Field Yates, Carter and Burns are now poised to become a nightmare duo for opposing quarterbacks in the NFC. Carter inked a four-year, fully guaranteed $45.3 million deal that includes a jaw-dropping $29.5 million signing bonus — solidifying his role as a cornerstone of the Giants' defense. There's even more good news for fans of the Giants. Rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers continues to impress before even taking a regular-season snap. PFF named Nabers to their list of the top 25 players under the age of 25, calling him the most valuable player on the Giants' roster. Nabers dominated the 2024 rookie WR class in both receiving grade and targets and ranked in the top 10 in PFF WAR for the year. It's clear the Giants found a potential superstar.Meanwhile, rookie running back Cam Skattebo revealed on Kay Adams' show that he'll be wearing No. 44 as a tribute to his brother, explaining the family meaning behind his jersey choice. Skattebo is also gaining traction as a potential sleeper pick in the Giants' backfield. Analysts like Scott DiBenedetto believe the Giants may have found another fifth-round gem, comparing Skattebo's toughness and versatility to last year's breakout star Tyrone Tracy. In other key updates, offensive lineman Evan Neal has officially been moved to guard, as confirmed by Paul Schwartz of the New York Post. Giants legend Shawn O'Hara believes the switch could be the key to unlocking Neal's potential, as the former first-round pick looks to revitalize his career and solidify the interior of the Giants' offensive line. Also discussed in this clip: rookie defensive back Dru Phillips undergoes LASIK eye surgery in preparation for the season. It's yet another sign that the Giants' young core is focused, hungry, and ready to prove something in 2025. Whether you're craving cap space updates, rookie contract news, or positional shakeups, this segment has everything Giants fans need to stay up to date.Stay locked in with the 2 Giants Goofballs for all the latest New York Giants news today, including ny giants news and rumors, player updates, roster analysis, and more from your favorite ny giants podcast. Send us a textThe New York Giants' offseason plans might be shifting in a surprising direction. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Giants are starting to look elsewhere with their No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. With growing speculation that they have their sights set on an elite non-QB prospect.  Meanwhile, ESPN has floated the idea of the Giants trading down from No. 3. A proposed trade with the Carolina Panthers would send the No. 3 pick and a 2026 fifth-rounder to Carolina in exchange for the No. 8 pick, a second-round pick this year (No. 57), and a 2026 second-round pick. This trade scenario becomes even more interesting if Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders are already off the board by the time the Giants pick, suggesting the team may prioritize adding multiple assets instead of taking a quarterback early.  In roster news, the Giants have re-signed linebacker Ty Summers. At 6'1" and 241 pounds, the 29-year-old played in all 16 games last season, recording 29 tackles, one tackle for loss, and one pass deflection. His PFF grades were mixed, with a strong 78.3 run defense grade but weaker marks in coverage and pass rushing. Summers played 112 defensive snaps and was a key contributor on special teams with 272 snaps.  Evan Neal's future along the Giants' offensive line remains uncertain, but GM Joe Schoen revealed that Neal is now open to the idea of moving to guard. This is a stark contrast from his strong stance in 2023 when he insisted he was an offensive tackle from birth. While Schoen did not commit to a positional switch, he emphasized that Neal is willing to do whatever it takes to help the team. Another looming decision for the Giants revolves around play-calling duties. Head coach Brian Daboll has not yet determined whether he will continue calling plays in 2024. NY Post's Paul Schwartz reported that Daboll plans to evaluate the situation through spring and summer before making a final call. Co-owner John Mara previously questioned whether Daboll should relinquish play-calling duties, stating that while he wouldn't demand a change, it's a discussion that will continue. Ultimately, the choice remains in Daboll's hands, and it could have a major impact on the Giants' offensive performance next season.  The Giants also have several former players currently competing in the UFL, which kicked off its season on Friday. The Arlington Renegades feature former Giants S Joe Powell and LB Tuzar Skipper. The Birmingham Stallions have multiple ex-Giants, including LB Tae Crowder and QB Case Cookus, while the D.C. Defenders boast former first-round CB Deandre Baker. Other familiar faces like Corn Elder, Deon Jackson, Quincy Roche, and Jashaun Corbin are also in the league, along with former Giants coaches like Mike Nolan and Marc Colombo.  With the NFL Draft approaching, trade rumors swirling, and key roster decisions still to be made, the Giants are entering a pivotal stretch. Will they surprise everyone by passing on a quarterback at No. 3? Will Evan Neal shift to guard? And will Brian Daboll hold onto play-calling duties? Drew and Rob break down all these storylines and more in this latest episode of *2 Giants Goofballs: New YorkSupport the showAll Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. The group advocating for lead-free clean water, which includes Robert Miranda from FLAC, Paul Schwartz, and Dr. Kristen Payne, will be updating us on the ongoing lead issues. It seems that the City of Milwaukee is having difficulty tackling this issue, with Robert Miranda claiming that the city must take full responsibility for finding a solution, even as it often deflects accountability onto property owners. Dr. Payne highlights seven violations that state law requires to be addressed, along with the obligation to keep parents informed about developments. Approximately fifty thousand children are currently impacted by lead-related problems in our schools, with many more affected in the past and potentially until the situation is resolved. Dr. Kristen Payne expresses her skepticism regarding the new superintendent, who mentioned seeking "easy wins" through listening sessions. "Our focus is on substantial change, and we won't be misled by mere listening sessions," she asserts. Robert Miranda says, Evers budget is a good place to direct folks to act no matter where in WI they live mentioning the 300 million dollar budget. Earl Ingram is joined by Robert Miranda of FLAC and Paul Schwartz from the Get the Lead Out Coalition in their initiative advocating for lead-free water. They will address a range of topics concerning the prevention of lead contamination in our public drinking water systems. Parents often cannot identify lead paint in residences, and upon relocating to new homes, they may come across these hazardous substances within the walls and paint. Paul emphasizes the critical importance of public education in this matter. Even if MPS, MPH, and MWW are taking all the necessary precautions, it is essential for the community to understand the importance of prioritizing filtration. Robert Miranda, Paul Schwartz, and Dr. Yonna Lambrinidou provide the latest updates on lead testing conducted at many educational institutions, emphasizing Governor Evers' comments on the situation. Earlier this week, the state was anticipated to release crucial documents outlining the detrimental effects of lead-contaminated drinking water on our children's health. Lead exposure presents significant risks, associated with a range of health problems, both minor and severe. Families already facing financial difficulties are struggling to maintain stable housing, and now they must also navigate the challenge of ensuring access to safe drinking and bathing water. A viewer inquires how millions can reside in homes without lead laterals and yet not experience health issues, even with annual check-ups. The guests criticize the MPS lead safety program, which only conducts annual inspections, claiming it is virtually ineffective and does not align with research findings. They reveal that lead levels at the Golda Meir Campus exceed the normal threshold by 20%, and point out that a staggering 85% of MPS schools built in earlier years are experiencing similar lead problems. In this episode, Andy Tanner interviews Paul Schwartz, the author of "Shocks, Crises, and False Alarms: How to Assess True Economic Risk." They discuss the importance of embracing uncertainty in economics and investing, avoiding dogmatic thinking, and using an eclectic approach to understand the complexities of the financial landscape. Schwartz shares his insights on topics such as the Federal Reserve's monetary policy, the sustainability of fiscal policy in the United States, and the risks posed by financial leverage and interdependence. The conversation also touches on the challenges of quantitative analysis, the pitfalls of the "master model mentality," and the value of learning from generalized principles rather than seeking a single, definitive solution.

This week, Chris Cyr joins the Idiots. 00:00 Introductions 00:37 The Debate 10:50 The Squad 21:56 Disney 28:13 Corporate Vigilance 31:38 Online Fraud 32:54 Josh Duggar —Is Rex Huppke the dumbest man on the planet? Maybe. Rex posted an opinion piece on June 25th, several days before the first presidential debate. His take? Trump was going to chicken out, and not attend. Well guess what? That didn't happen. Here's a hot take: instead of posting hot takes, allow events to occur, and then report on them. Isn't that what the news is supposed to be, a summation of daily happenings? From that stepping off point—mocking Rex Huppke—the idiots (and Chris) discuss what happened that fateful night. Biden was old and confused; Trump lied every time he opened his mouth. Which will be more alarming to voters? Lies and incompetence, or a stutter? We'll find out in November. —Oh, Jamaal Bowman, we hardly knew ye.  The Squad, the famous group of insane members of Congress who fight for supposed moral justice more than they do the economic benefit of all, lost the fire alarm pulling, shirt waving, insane Jamaal Bowman.  Voters in New York's 16th District gave George Latimer a shot at the seat, causing AOC to blame $25 million in ad buys, not the fact Bowman probably wasn't the best fit for the job. Because reality should never pierce the veil of delusion, should it? (Hint: it was probably his Anti-Semitism and bizarre stance on Israel that lost him the seat.) —This gets a little messy, but stay with us… Disney fired actress Gina Carano, because she didn't align with them politically. And they said so. Publicly. So now Gina is suing Disney for wrongful termination. Seems pretty cut and dried, right? Well… Since the God-awful Supreme Court of 2010, which in retrospect might have been somehow better than the compete dumpster fire of a SCOTUS we have today, handed down Citizens United, corporations are people. Which means Disney has a right to free speech of its own. But seriously, all they had to do is shut up. Gina Carano is a block of wood. Her acting should have spoken for itself here. —The United States is a sue-happy country. People file lawsuits at the drop of a hat, which is absurd.  So, corporations are fighting back, and one way they're covering their bases is by warning consumers about items not even in their product. Why? Just to be safe. The FDA, for some reason, has an issue with this. Look, government… You can't have it both ways. You don't get to let swindlers sue anyone, at any time, and not give people a way to guard against that. Sara Lee and Entenmann's took a creative approach to warning labels, and the Idiots approve. —Go big or go home? No! Go small and succeed!  The Idiots often talk about the dumbest people on the planet, those who fall for easily verified online scams to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars…  Well, “Paul Schwartz” of Milwaukee, Wisconsin (not really) is making bank $600 at a time. He doesn't string people along, he just takes the cash and runs. Well done, “Paul.” (And everyone out there: verify, verify, verify, before giving anyone online any money.) —Josh Duggar is a horrible human being for many, many reasons. I mean, most of the Duggar family is. (Thanks, Jim Bob and Michelle. You really put some awful out there into the world.) But Josh, he's not just awful, he's a convicted criminal, and not for something small, like petty theft. Not. Josh was into children. In the worst way. Well, when you're a criminal with a healthy ego, everything you do should be a-ok with the world, right? Criminal conviction because you're a pervert? Pfft, that's not fair, I'm Josh Duggar! So he asked the Supreme Court to overturn (or at least examine) his case. Hilarious. Idiots on Parade: we mock the news, so you don't have to. Tune in and get your giggle on.
