In this message, Jeff Brewer, Executive Director of Word Partners, delves into the story and significance of Passover as a pivotal event shaping the identity of the Israelites. Drawing from Exodus, he highlights how God's judgment and deliverance came through the blood of a lamb, foreshadowing a deeper deliverance fulfilled in Jesus as the ultimate Passover Lamb. Brewer invites listeners to reflect on the themes of substitution, redemption, and how faith in Jesus provides a refuge from judgment and a renewed identity as God's children.Exodus 11:1-12:51More about JeffSubscribe to AfterWords on  Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts.Download a copy of the Exodus JournalVisit us online: rivchurch.comFollow us on InstagramSend us feedback: podcast@rivchurch.com

Small businesses and startups often find the process of scaling to be an uphill battle. In order to grow, they need to overcome several common challenges, including limited resources, lack of experience, and insufficient funding. However, with the right tools and strategies in place, scaling can be a successful process. In today's episode, Tommy talks with Jeff Brewer, Managing Partner at Hanok Ventures. After serving in the military for 14 years, Jeff transitioned into the private sector, where he held leadership positions at companies like General Electric, Asurion, and The Boston Consulting Group. Today, he focuses on helping small businesses. He has made it his mission to help them scale and develop new leaders. Jeff talks with Tommy about what led him into the private sector after his military achievements, why he prefers to work with small businesses over big corporations, and how he helps small businesses and new leaders scale and stay on top of their game. Key Takeaways [02:04] - Why Jeffrey called himself an “entrepreneurial coward”. [05:09] - A look back at Jeffrey's military career. [08:13] - What led Jeffrey into the private sector despite his military achievements. [10:22] - How Jeff got started in angel investing. [13:42] - How Jeff managed to keep his day job and work with small companies on the side. [16:46] - Jeff's biggest takeaways from working with Boston Consulting Group. [21:15] - Jeff's thought process for scaling a business. [25:23] - An example of how founders struggle with letting go. [31:44] - The challenges of working with family-owned businesses. [42:20] - The story behind the founding of Hanok Ventures. [46:27] - The role Jeff played in the businesses he bought. [52:05] - Jeff's thought process for bringing investors to Hanok Ventures. [53:08] - What Jeff looks for in companies he invests in. [55:28] - How Jeff serves both the ministry and business at the same time. Quotes [26:16] - "To get to that point where you start scaling, you cannot control everything in the organization anymore. You have to start delegating to your leadership team and allow them to thrive because they are now at a level and a capability set that's far beyond you in their particular area of expertise." - Jeff Brewer [27:12] - "To be successful and to scale, you have to release some of that authority and delegate properly. And that's not saying giving up everything to the company, to your leadership team, but giving up some of that allows them to grow in their capabilities. You've got to go through that mental and emotional process of letting go for your company to really reach that next level." - Jeff Brewer [50:53] - "I don't believe any successful, healthy transition that goes from what the legacy company was to what this new company is going to be will work unless the former CEO and the sellers of the business believe in that new CEO. All three of us on the new side of the organization have to be 100% aligned." - Jeff Brewer Links  Jeff Brewer on LinkedIn Hanok Ventures Cornerstone Support GE Grid Solutions Good Spread Boston Consulting Group McKinsey Bain & Company Herschend Family Entertainment Jack Herschend Connect with our hosts Mammoth Tommy on LinkedIn Subscribe and stay in touch Apple Podcasts Spotify Google Podcasts Learn more about Mammoth Scientific's Health & Tech Fund 1 When you move beyond the point of making sure your retirement goals are on track, your investment opportunities are wider than just publicly traded funds. This was SUCH a fun podcast to record!! I had my friend Jeff Brewer come over and we had a blast recording this podcast.  Jeff is a master at helping people launch their products (he was hugely instrumental in our pregnancy training guide launch last year), and I thought we were going to talk business, but I was pleasantly surprised when we really pulled back the curtain and our conversation took a different direction.Jeff shared how when he was in junior high, his father was sent to prison for embezzlement.  He was the same age I was when my mom was sent to prison! We connected on a lot of levels, and he shared what it was like for him at that age, how his mom was a huge influence in his life as he watched her build companies and raise her boys…..all as a single mom. He shared hardships he went through to get to where he is at now, including developing a severe stutter as an adult and the steps he went through to work through that.We finished up by talking about things he felt his mom did a great job with as a single parent that helped shape his own drive and work ethic. This will be a great podcast to tune into if you want to hear a great story of someone who has overcome many obstacles in their way to get to where they are at.  I loved recording this episode and hope you guys love it too!

These days, you can sell products on Amazon or through your mailing list and either way, will work. But you'll get loads more immediate success if you follow a carefully devised product launch plan. Jeff Brewer has spent the past several years studying the most successful product launch marketers to learn exactly what that plan is - and on this episode of Just the Tips, he goes deep with Dean and me to explain it. What is a product launch? How does it work? What are the best strategies for positioning your launch and maintaining the attention spans of those who express interest? Jeff provides the answers to those questions and more - and this guy knows what he’s talking about - his latest client realized over $300K in 3 days. Make sure you listen to hear how Jeff’s system could help you. Don’t know what a product launch is? Jeff Brewer spells it out on this episode. It’s entirely possible that you’re new to the internet marketing and product sales space, so you may not know exactly what it means to launch a product systematically. Dean and I have invited Jeff Brewer on the show to help you with that learning curve. Jeff’s a guy who became intrigued with the concept of product launches and very quickly saw the power that a well-conceived product can have in a market when it’s launched to the public effectively. So he made it his business to study every aspect of successful product launches and now serves many big name companies and clients by helping them successfully launch products multiple times per year. You'll hear Jeff tell his story and explain how a product launch plan could work for you, on this episode. What would it mean for your business to get 6 figures of income in 3 days? There are many people who are skeptical that it’s even possible to make multiple 6 figures in just 3 days, but that’s exactly what one of Jeff’s newest clients just did. How did it happen? The client hired Jeff to help them create a product launch plan for their newest $900 product. And that kind of success is not only possible for people who already have products in place. He’s even helped people and service businesses without a product build one and sell it with fantastic results in just 6 weeks. You’ve got to hear Jeff’s story so you can understand that we’re not blowing smoke, this stuff really works. Is a product launch something that will work for you? Here’s how you can tell. One of the things Dean and I wanted to know from our guest, Jeff Brewer was whether or not certain kinds of businesses do better with product launches than others. In other words, is the success of this approach limited in any way? Jeff says he’s seen his product launch plan work for product sales, online courses and communities, masterminds, and even service based businesses. That’s a pretty wide swath of businesses - which leads us to believe this might even work for you. Listen to Jeff’s explanation of how his process works to decide if you should consider an approach like this to increase your revenue. Attention spans are diminishing. How can a multi-stage product launch plan still work? Dean Holland is just the guy to bring a pertinent question to a discussion and on this episode, he was curious about how the diminishing attention spans of people are impacting the way product launches are being done. The typical product launch happens over a number of days and Dean’s concern was that people simply wouldn’t hang around to see the end of the launch and have the opportunity to make the purchase the launch was designed to produce. So he asked our guest Jeff Brewer, what impact he’s seen attention spans have on product launches. Want to hear the answer to Dean’s great question? You’ll have to listen to find out.
