Over three hours of ambient and rolling rhythms from a master of minimal. Since his early days as a resident at the legendary Montreal afterhours club Stereo, Maher Daniel has been a stalwart in the world of minimal-leaning house music. It was there that he learned and mastered the foundations of his style: deep melodies, rolling beats, extended mixes, all put together with a wash of psychedelia. Following a move to Barcelona, the Palestinian-Canadian DJ more firmly struck out on his own, appearing on Lee Burridge's world-conquering All Day I Dream label before starting his own, The Other Side, in 2016. The Other Side has become an important outpost for a kind of dance music that blends old-school microhouse sensibilities with the rolling basslines and three-dimensional sound design of Rominimal, notably through a series of collaborations with Ricardo Villalobos with the Changes EP trilogy. During the pandemic, Daniel also started dipping his toes into ambient music, which starts off this epic, three-hour-plus mix before it plunges into rolling rhythms. He takes the time to stretch out here, mixing plenty of his own work with tracks from Jesper Dahlbäck, Cristi Cons, Dexter and, of course, Ricardo Villalobos, ending with a stunning custom breakbeat edit of Global Communication's ambient techno epic "14:31."

English: Jesper Dahlback is one of Sweden’s leading DJ/producers with a lengthy back catalogue to his name. Jesper has music in his genes – his grandfather, father and uncle are all musicians as are most of his cousins – but it was the musical movements in Detroit, Berlin and London that inspired him to start producing techno, back in 1991 in his bedroom studio. Completely hooked, by 1993 he’d formed the Stockholm-based Globe Studios together with Peter Benisch and Adam Beyer following a chance meeting on the train to Love Parade. Jesper now describes his sound as “ranging between the analogue sounds of the roland sh101 and the precision mathematics of my computer. I’m a researcher and developer of unheard sounds! Since the founding of Globe Studios, I have always been looking for new ways to bend the rules and test the unknown. That's what you'll need for my set recorded at Villa Stuermer. That I would play so long for the birthday of a very dear friend in the Villa Sturmer came surprisingly. Anyway, such a long set has been far ago for me. But that's exactly what I love most of all! And so it was a fantastic pleasure for me to play until just before the end of the evening. Surrounded by and in the midst of very great friends, to make music for them, just was so beautiful. How they were with me and with me in the music, how they followed me into it and went on that journey together with me... above all, that they let me do this and gave me the place for this is a really special honor to me! In addition, I had worked nicely with manual work on the record players using timecode vinyl; the possibility to touch music genuinely creates a vast amount of joy. All this energy together made this evening indescribably beautiful. Thank you, Stan! Now, splitted into two parts, this is the recording of the complete set. I would love to share it with you... Überhaupt ist so ein langes Set für mich schon einige Zeit her gewesen. Genau das liebe ich aber am allermeisten! Und so wurde es für mich zu einem fantastischen Genuß bis kurz vor Feierabend zu spielen. Umgeben und inmitten von ganz tollen Freunden, für sie musizieren zu dürfen, war auf den Punkt gebracht wunderschön. Wie sie bei und mit mir in der Musik waren, mir darin folgten und mit mir auf eine gemeinsame Reise gingen - vor allem, dass sie mich ließen und mir hierfür den Platz einräumten, ist mir eine wirklich besondere Ehre! Hinzu kam noch, dass ich schön mit Handarbeit an den Plattenspielern per Timecode-Vinyl gearbeitet hatte; denn die Musik wahrhaftig anfassen können, bereitet unendlich viel Freude. Dj and Producer, born in Iran but grew up in Stockholm, Sweden with the rich flora of prolific labels coloring the soundscape of his productions. Today he is a fixed point in Stockholm nightlife with a long standing residency at Gallery 2.35:1 Berns. He also manages the club's in-house label 1:53.2. His productions are raw, analogue and deep techno with the sight set firmly on the dance floor. With releases on labels like H-Productions, ISL and productions together with Jesper Dahlbäck and Cari Lekebusch he has been pinned as one to keep an eye on from the new generation of Swedes. Episode 20, and for this we present Nima Khak (@nima-khak) The music is hard and repetitive, yet playful and flexible. A constant theme and vision that shines through, and guides the listener through Nima's productions. The same sentiment is making itself felt in his DJ sets that has, to date taken him to Berghain in Berlin, Studio 80 in Amsterdam and Gallery 2.35:1 in Stockholm, where he has shaped and developed his DJ sets as a resident the past three years. The relationship with Berns Gallery 2.35:1 has also blossomed into a role as curator of the club's record label: 1:53.2. Here he keeps himself busy with releasing records from some of the most interesting up and coming artist at the moment, and at the same time releasing work from some of the producers who inspired him to start producing. In 2012, he released a solo EP on the label and later this fall, a release of a long awaited re-collaboration together with Jesper Dahlbäck named 'Interstellar EP' will be out on 1:53.2 Records.
