Mama, May is Mental Health Awareness Month and we are all up in it! I love this month because it's all about awareness—no one's asking us to fix it or even take action. But if you are a person that hasn't sought help for any issues, any trauma, any ill that you may have, then this isn't judgment. This month is all about taking another look at where your trauma lies and how you can possibly make it disappear by doing the work of wellness and healing.Today, I'm talking to Kaywanda Lamb, an author, a speaker, a blogger, and an incredible single mama. Kaywanda started her professional journey when her boys were babes and has spent the last 16 years showing other women that they can parent, thrive, and win.Tune in and listen to episode 72 of Mamaste with Tanika Ray. Kaywanda Lamb is an entrepreneur, educator, coach, author, speaker, blogger, podcaster, and The Winning Single Mom. Her journey to being a sought out speaker, advocate for single moms everywhere, and a transformational coach began when her boys were young. Kaywanda had a choice to make: stay in a relationship that didn't honor her or raise her boys as a single mom. She decided to take option B (betting on herself and God) and has spent the last 22 years chasing her dreams and raising good babies. She returned to college 4 times in that span, holds a Masters in Spanish Literature, 2 Bachelor's degrees, is 2 classes shy of an M. Ed, and is a certified principal. Her motto is “Do it anyway!” because you can dream about a better life or you can make it happen. She now splits her time between showing other women they, too, can parent well, thrive, and win and teaching business professionals conversational Spanish.Kaywanda spent 17 years in education teaching Spanish at the secondary and post-secondary level. Kaywanda took her knowledge of business, her own experience as a language learner and educator, and created SpanishforSmallBusiness.com, a website dedicated to teaching entrepreneurs and small business owners Spanish specific to their industry. This idea to create custom curriculums per client and by industry came to Kaywanda as she began her own entrepreneurial journey. Kaywanda realized that the way she was taught to teach Spanish is not the way busy professionals needed to learn. Fast forward 7 years, and she's taught real estate agents, health care professionals, entrepreneurs, insurance agents, social workers, logistics supervisors, HR professionals, business coaches, nurses, diversity professionals, and more to speak Spanish with her customized 1:1 conversational business Spanish program. Kaywanda loves people, teaching, and learning about new cultures. Kaywanda is an avid traveler, and her next goal is to take business professionals abroad to further expand their Spanish-speaking ability. As an Afro American woman who is bilingual, diversity and inclusion is important to Kaywanda. She often speaks on cultural awareness, diversity, and being sensitive to our differences to leverage them to help our companies grow.Kaywanda recently launched Spanish for Black Girls™ to teach ambitious, high-achieving black women Spanish. She decided to focus on black women because she saw how women and in particular black women have been treated historically and decided to share her love of speaking and teaching Spanish with her sisters. Her goal is to teach 1 million black women Spanish through her course over the next ten years so they can increase their bargaining power and competitive edge against similar candidates in their careers, expand their horizons, and communicate with their clients and coworkers.Kaywanda blogs and coaches at KaywandaLamb.com and you can purchase her two books “Do It Anyway! The Single Mom's Guide to Living Life and Achieving Her Goal” and “Parent, Thrive, Win: A 31-Day Devotional for Courageous Single Moms Who Know God Has Called Them to Be More” plus The Single Mom Success Planner at www.KaywandaLamb.com/shop. Kaywanda blogs and teaches Spanish to small business owners and career professionals at SpanishforSmallBusiness.com and she teaches ambitious black women Spanish in her self-paced course plus community called Spanish for Black Girls™ at SpanishforBlackGirls.com.Kaywanda believes you can be anything you want to be. You can achieve every goal you set out to achieve. But, it all starts with you saying yes to God's big dreams for you today.

It's "Relationship Week" here on the podcast and in today's episode of Mom Talk, I thought I'd share a little bit of my story AND my love of K-dramas. Spoiler Alert: I share the not so glamorous way I became a single mom and I don't let that define me. I'm also hoping you see no matter what your story that you can live past it and go on to have the life and love you want. Every relationship, I challenge the man interested in me to love me for who I am. I also make room to do the same.Listen, you do not want to miss this episode. It's a mix of hindsight is 2020 mixed with grace. We all need to give ourselves more grace for the decisions we've made and the people we've picked (whether or not on purpose) to father our children. They're here, we're here, let's make a good life.We don't always get to choose how life turns out, but we do get to choose what we do with it. Tune in and share your thoughts. I'd love to know what you think. Next week, we'll hear from a female relationship coach but don't forget to check out the previous episode with Jay Hurt. He dropped some nuggets that will bless you in love and business. And remember sis, you are worthy.Connect with Kaywanda at KaywandaLamb.comSupport the show (https://cash.app/$KaywandaLamb)
In this episode, Kaywanda discusses how you can do both and reminds you that you get to choose. What does this mean? Well, you can raise your babies well AND chase your dreams. You can do what you want in your career and love life AND raise strong, well-loved babies. Single parenting can be like drinking from a water hose. That, by the way, if you've done it, is almost impossible. The water comes out fast, gets all over the place, and drips downward missing your mouth if the pressure is too slow. LOL! A struggle. But, it is possible. And so, you may have some challenges, a full plate, some folks and things to cut out of your life, but if you focus, you CAN do both.Stop waiting for perfection and live the life you want right now. You can do both. You get to choose.Tune in for some Mom Talk and inspiration to get going on your dreams. And, please rate and review the podcast if it is speaking to you in this season. We love knowing that it's impacting you and helping you get further faster. Learn more about Kaywanda at KaywandaLamb.comSupport the show (https://cash.app/$KaywandaLamb)

In this episode of Mom Talk, Kaywanda shares why you must absorb the idea of giving yourself grace. This single parenting journey is one filled with lots of new beginnings and sometimes hard things that happen all at once. But, if you can learn to add in grace for yourself and for your kids, you'll find that you'll enjoy your life a whole lot more and you'll discover so much about you and your babies.Kaywanda discusses what grace is and shares some of her own hangups and scenarios with her children to help you get further faster by grasping that you can do this just not all at once. “Single women, we must refute ALL the lies that we’ve started to believe.” I had a sensational conversation with speaker, author and single parent coach, Kaywanda Lamb. We met last fall while speaking at a conference in Louisiana. Within seconds of meeting Kaywanda, I knew that I’d made a new friend. She’s beautiful, brilliant, authentic and deeply wise. A high school Spanish teacher by day, Kaywanda has raised two handsome sons on her own. She began coaching single parents while her boys were young and to support her family, Kaywanda returned to school to advance her education and obtain a Masters in Spanish. During our conversation today, Kaywanda is going to speak right to heart of single women who are searching, wondering and maybe afraid that they’ll never find a wonderful man who’ll love and cherish them. In fact, Kaywanda shares five lies that women often believe. Here they are: Lie #1. “I don’t think that anyone will ever want me.” Lie #2. “I feel like married women have it better than single women.” Lie #3. “I’ll never get married because I’m too old.” Lie #4. “A guy isn’t going to want me because I’ve been single too long.” Lie #5. “Because I have kids, no one will want to marry me.” If you are or have believed any of these lies, you MUST listen to this episode because Kaywanda walks you through these lies with God’s truth and practical advice to help you walk in freedom! In this episode, there is so much encouragement to single women who are feeling down and rejected because they are alone. Here’s some of the encouragement that Kaywanda shares: You have to live like what you have is enough right now; You are worthy; You have everything you need right now because God loves you and He is looking out for you.
