Founded at Harvard, Legacy has raised $45M from some of the world's best investors: Justin Bieber, DJ Khaled, The Weeknd, and Orlando Bloom, to name a few. Today, Ali is talking to Khaled about his own family building journey, and how an accident with a scalding hot cup of tea in his lap from Starbucks ultimately led him to create Legacy, which aims to change outdated views of fertility as a "women's issue." Legacy helps you test and freeze your sperm through a mail-in kit, so you don't have to see a doctor or go to a clinic. They work with everyone from Navy SEALs to the LGBTQIA+ community. Khaled talks about how he's always wanted to be a father, why he felt that sperm banks he went to in college were less than stellar, how sperm health is affected by everything these days, and how Legacy's at-home sperm testing and freezing services are revolutionizing the industry. "King Day: To Forget Is to Forfeit" Since 1983, communities and organizations have celebrated King Day through various, creative and serious celebrations and forums. A national monument in Washington has been erected in Dr. King's honor. However, there seems to be a diffusion in what we teach, remember and understand about Dr. King's contribution to this country. The holiday seems to have become somewhat less deliberative in our celebrations.  We now have generations of Black children, a new scholarship that tends to marginalize the power of his transformative power in our own communities. We read and quote his words outside the context and the import of the history he ignited. Clovis never passed a day in his life as King without thinking about how he could expand his Kingdom and provide loot and booty to the lieutenants he trusted to burnish his hold on power. However, Clovis was pragmatic enough to sense that there were times when he could get more by using his brain rather than his brawn. The most obvious example of this is his conversion to Catholicism, but that wasn't his only moment of inspired intelligence. He planted the seed of patricide in his rival Clodéric's mind, leading to the downfall of both Clodéric and his father; he convinced another king's chiefs that he was a better King, leading them to turn their back on their boss and hand the kingdom to Clovis; and he never forgot a slight, real or imagined, and used these as justifications for power grabs. Once Clovis had his Kingdom, he solidified his hold on it; to do this, Clovis went down three paths. The first of these was the construction of The Church of the Holy Apostles, a project designed to simultaneously show the King's great piety and his great wealth. The second path was the writing of the Salic Law, bringing Clovis's domain under his written control. And the third path was the First Council of Orléans in 511. This Council established a strong link between the Crown and the Catholic episcopate, with one its main tenets being "the obligation of the approval of the king and of the local civil authority for priestly ordinations." Clovis is said to have died on 27 November 511. He had done about as much in 30 years as could be expected of any 15-year-old who was handed the keys to the kingdom. It would be easy to sit back and say that Clovis was barbaric, that he was lied and cheated and relied on brute force. But to do so would be to overlook the fact that Clovis was actually very intelligent. He responded to the times in which he lived with the level of force and the attitude of realpolitik necessary to ensure that he not only survived, but thrived. He was the right person, in the right place, at the right time to take advantage of the situation that presented itself.   To get more T+M, check us out in the following places: Website: https://www.thugsandmiracles.com/ Email: thugsandmiracles@gmail.com Twitter: https://twitter.com/ThugsAndMiracle Facebook: https://facebook.com/thugsandmiracles Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thugsandmiracles/

Sensing that more than a two-day talkfest was needed to make a lasting impact in Memphis, local church pastors agreed that funding education would provide such an impact. Out of this work was born The Dream Forward Scholarship Initiative. A panel discussion following a screening of the film 'Montgomery to Memphis' at Bloomsbury Central Baptist Church. Panel contributors include Dr.David Muir, Dionne Gravesande, Richard Reddie, Neil Jameson, Selina Stone, and Eleasah Louis. The world has been marking the 50th anniversary year of the assassination of Rev Dr. Martin Luther King. On 4th April 1968, Dr. King was fatally shot on the balcony of the Lorraine Motel cutting short the life of the man who had become the conscience of America, indeed the world. During the 1960s, Dr. King made several visits to the UK and in 1961 he visited and preached at Bloomsbury Baptist Church. As part of these 2018 commemorations, Baptists Together Justice Hub partnering with Tipping Point North South are honoured to be hosting at Bloomsbury a special screening of an extraordinary film made in 1970 called From Montgomery to Memphis. A rarely-seen documentary, the film traces King’s life and accomplishments from the 1955 bus boycott to his 1968 assassination. Following on from the film screening, we will have a post-film panel discussion with leading contributors coming from a range of backgrounds, and which, combined, will reflect to the scope of Dr. King’s own theology and activism. His structural analysis of race, economy and war -and his solutions - were way ahead of his time. The same ‘Triple Evils’ he talked of in 1967/68 are still interconnected, only now they are global: we are close to an annual $2trillion global military spend; we have even greater levels global inequality; and we are seeing racism and the far-right rising.
