Legacy games have probably had their golden days. They were something new that hadn't been done before in our hobby. They promised a unique experience of a game that would change as you played it. Not only that, the change would be permanent, requiring you not to only remove components, but actually destroy them, or put stickers into the rulebook, onto the main game board or otherwise apply them to make an irreversible change to the game. However, as exciting as the idea was, it never sat comfortably with me. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Batavia Daily News sports editor Alex Brasky to go over several critical points one more time before the Buffalo Bills take on the Baltimore Ravens in elimination playoff football Sunday, including examining how much of a legacy game this is for Bills head coach Sean McDermott. Alex has been at One Bills Drive all week as the Bills prepare for Baltimore on Sunday and Patrick asks him to describe what the vibe's been like there, as Buffalo is in the unusual spot of being a home underdog despite not having a loss all season in Orchard Park. How much does that Week four game when Baltimore pounded Buffalo play a part on the betting line so many months later? It's certainly for health and injury reasons. The guys talk about how much heathier Buffalo is coming into this game compared to earlier this season against Baltimore and last year at this time in their three point AFC divisional playoff heartbreaking loss to Kansas City. Also, Alex has thoughts on how much of a legacy game this is for McDermott. The Bills head coach has a 6-6 playoff record but has often got stuck at this point of the postseason. He's often compared by Bills fans to Marty Schottenheimer, an unfair comparison and it's discussed how best-case we may be seeing with Sean what happened with Bill Cowher and Tony Dungy years ago. Regardless, the guys talk about how important a win would be to his legacy and how much another loss in this round may tarnish it.
