Money - Mindset and Business Matters | Self Employed and Small Business Guidance
In today's podcast, I'm talking about some important things for small business owners – in particular those of you that work in your own show (business) As small business owners, we often start the day fighting fires, staring at the “burning embers” of yesterday's problems. This leads to overwhelm, analysis paralysis, and the feeling that you need 100% of the information before you can move an inch. In this latest update, I tackle two critical components for future-proofing your business: The Speed of Decision Making and The Leverage of AI. Here are the specific questions this episode answers: 1. Why am I stuck and unable to move forward? You are likely treating every choice as a life-or-death situation. The episode explains why “waiting for all the information” is killing your momentum and why competitors won’t wait for you to be thorough. 2. What is the difference between a “One-Way” and a “Two-Way” door?Richard breaks down this vital management theory. He explains how to distinguish between irreversible decisions (firing staff, killing a product line) and reversible ones (hiring, testing a new method). The key to growth? Make the reversible decisions immediately. Just do it. 3. How can I safely test new ideas without risking the business?Treat new marketing or product launches as a “side hustle within your business.” If the door swings both ways, the cost of waiting is usually higher than the cost of fixing a mistake later. 4. How can AI act as a “Highly Qualified Helper” for my team?Beyond just writing emails, how to create custom AI tools that do a “deep dive” into your specific company policies and expectations, guiding staff and solving client issues exactly how you would. 5. Can I build a “Virtual Board of Directors”?Yes. The episode answers how you can use AI models to build a portfolio of knowledge uploading the works of figures like Lincoln, Edison, or Darwin to act as a virtual peer group when you need advice on a difficult problem. You can choose who you want – even me. But then again I do swear a lot. Listen to the full episode to learn how to stop overthinking and start automating. It was going to be a challenge for Ohtani to start pitching again after taking last season off to recover from arm surgery, but that's what he thrives on. After coming back to the mound in mid-June, he slowly ramped up and ended up having a solid return. On the hitting side, he beat his home run record of last year by one and got to 55 this time. In the playoffs, he had a couple of particularly memorable games that will likely never be seen done again by anyone else. He played a key role in the Dodgers taking home another World Series championship this season and Ohtani once again won the MVP award.

BT and Sal dive into the Shohei Ohtani debate, triggered by his World Series performance, questioning if the two-way superstar is truly the best athlete since Bo Jackson or Deion Sanders. Sal argues that while Ohtani's success is unprecedented in the modern specialized MLB, the multi-sport feats of Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders—playing at the highest levels in the NFL and MLB—are ultimately more impressive due to the physical intensity of football. The segment features a caller who asks if Ohtani's two jobs are even impressive given how many people work multiple jobs in the modern era, leading to a fiery comparison of professional specialization versus Little League glory. The hosts also touch on the World Series, the Knicks, and the frustrating talent of Karl-Anthony Towns.

* Life is full of tests—moments designed not to punish, but to reveal what's truly in our hearts. From everyday decisions like patience and humility to major areas like finances and relationships, God's testing us to shape us into who we're called to be. Like Israel before entering the promised land, these seasons of testing are vital for our growth and preparation. In this message, we'll explore the biblical foundation of tests—God's purpose isn't to harm but to develop trust, obedience, and character in us. We'll see how every test serves as a confirmation of what's already inside, and how passing them positions us for blessings and fruitfulness.Key Highlights:* The Purpose of Testing: God tests us to develop patience, humility, and trust—especially when it comes to our finances and priorities.* God's Invitation to Test Him: Malachi 3:10 challenges us to "test" God through tithing—revealing His promise to bless and open the floodgates of heaven.* Understanding Tithing in Perspective: Whether under the law or grace, giving willingly and cheerfully aligns our hearts with God's kingdom.* The True Test of Our Hearts: It's not just about what we know but about what we do—our attitude, obedience, and trust matter most.* Three Critical Areas of the Test: Heart, Stewardship, and Priority. Your financial choices are reflections of what's truly important to you.* Living Open-Handed: Every day is an opportunity to choose generosity over greed, trust over worry, and obedience over hesitation.* Turning Tests into Testimonies: When we trust God, even in tough times, we open the door to His blessings, purpose, and future. This isn't just about money—it's about aligning your entire life with God's plan. It's about trusting His promises, living with purpose, and letting your faith move from belief into action.

They also discuss the current UN Assembly in New York and Australia's announcement there publicly recognising a Palestinian State, and whether a two-State solution is achievable. EV growth is moving, but is it moving quickly enough? Wood Mackenzie research projects battery electric vehicles to account for 58% of light vehicle sales globally by 2050. It won't be until 2045 that EVs surpass ICE vehicles on the roads globally. So how can consumers be incentivized to get an EV? Manufacturers are addressing concerns around range anxiety and price, so what else is there to tempt buyers? Perhaps shifting the conversation from EVs as just low-carbon emitting cars to seeing them as energy assets might do the trick. Could vehicles reliably charge your house? Or even stabilize the grid during peak demand? To find out, host Sylvia Leyva Martinez speaks with GM Energy's Aseem Kapur about their two-way charging EV project. They explore the potential of vehicle-to-home and vehicle-to-grid systems, the lessons from early pilots, the importance of interoperability standards, and how incentives and customer trust will drive EV adoption – something that needs to accelerate if we're to stay on track for climate goals. The key questions to answer on the viability of using EVs as DERs: Why should EV owners risk their battery health and daily mobility needs to support the grid? With thousands of utilities across the US, can one interoperable system realistically work at scale? Will incentives be strong enough to convince consumers and utilities that EVs are more than just cars?Sylvia gets the answers.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Watch the YouTube version of this episode HEREAre you a law firm owner looking for tips on making better decisions? In this episode of the Guild Live Show, host Tyson Mutrux explores the latest in AI and marketing. He demonstrates the AI agent "Comet" for workflow automation, discusses tracking cryptocurrency investments, and reflects on business decision-making inspired by Jeff Bezos' “two-way door” concept. Tyson talks about the AI agent, Comet that can be used for workflow automation. It is a great tool that helps you with your tasks and can act as a thinking partner. A great aspect of this tool is that it can build you a workflow which Tyson provides a demonstration for. You can ask Comet to create things for you, such as providing you a rundown of your monthly calendar. Tyson also speaks to the limitations of the platform, which can cause frustration. Tyson shares Amazon's “two way door” concept for making fast decisions. The concept is that if you walk through a door and don't like what you see, you can walk out. If something works for you, that is great. But, if something doesn't, you can stop doing it. As it relates to law firms, this is an important concept. If you are using a tool or process in your firm that does not work, it is completely fine to stop using it and find a better option.Listen in to learn more!1:16 Discussion about the Comet AI browser agent6:34 Observations on Comet's speed and limitations15:24 Amazon's “two way door” concept for fast, reversible decisions16:20 The two way door concept and its relevance to his firm's decision-makingTune in to today's episode and checkout the full show notes here.

When a schoolteacher's borrowed BBC computer began displaying mysterious messages from a 16th-century scholar and beings from the year 2109, it sparked one of England's most bewildering paranormal cases.Join the DARKNESS SYNDICATE: https://weirddarkness.com/syndicateIN THIS EPISODE: In Victorian London, a grisly murder case involving Maria and Frederick Manning shocked society and caught the attention of Charles Dickens himself. What began as a love triangle turned into a chilling tale of greed, betrayal, and murder, culminating in a public execution that would challenge the very nature of capital punishment in Great Britain. (The Murderous Mannings) *** In 1720, amidst a perilous pirate attack on the Atlantic, a newborn's cry changed the course of destiny. Ocean-Born Mary, christened by buccaneers and gifted with a bolt of green silk, would grow from a maritime legend into a symbol of courage and resilience in colonial New England, her extraordinary birth weaving a tapestry of fact and fiction that continues to captivate imaginations centuries later. (A Pirate's Godchild, Ocean-Born Mary) *** On the morning of June 20, 2001, Andrea Yates shocked the nation by drowning her five children, one by one, in the family bathtub. Years of untreated mental illness, compounded by religious fanaticism and postpartum psychosis, culminated in this unimaginable tragedy. Was it the work of a tortured mind, or something darker at play? (Did The Devil Make Her Do It?) *** Deep in the ancient folds of the Appalachian Mountains, where time seems to slow and shadows linger, legends have taken root for millennia. These peaks have become a breeding ground for supernatural tales that blend seamlessly with the landscape. The sheer age and untamed nature of Appalachia have given birth to a rich tapestry of myths, from the Mothman, to ghosts, to the Devil himself. (Modern Mythology and Ancient Appalachia) *** In the heart of Preston, Ladywell Street is infamous for a chilling spectral presence capable of shifting forms—from eerie footsteps to a blood-soaked apparition known as the Bannister Doll. Once a beautiful young woman, Dolly Bannister met a tragic death at the hands of her father, a punishment for a crime she didn't commit. Now, her restless spirit seeks retribution, haunting the streets and striking fear into anyone who dares to cross her path. (The Haunting of Ladywell Street) *** In 1984, a sleepy English village became the unlikely stage for a mind-bending mystery when a schoolteacher's computer began receiving messages from a man claiming to be from 1546. As past and present collided through a BBC Micro, Ken Webster and his friends found themselves entangled in a web of Tudor English, future prophecies, and inexplicable phenomena that would challenge everything they thought they knew about time and technology.
