The boys are back with a brand new look, fresh freestyles, and an unexpected guest—The Duke, one of the OG Toxic Boys! They were expecting someone else… but an “incident” kept her from showing up . J.O. dropped the ball on his usual church findings but bounced back quick. Parker hit a new church too, and they unpack a wild update from last week's “Dear ADD Boys” dilemma—turns out homie ain't attracted to his girl because she's big, and J.O. told him to stop spending on hotels and buy Ozempic instead . Just when it couldn't get more chaotic, EMP soft-launched his girlfriend on the show (?!), officially retiring his Toxic Boy badge. Meanwhile, Parker was dry snitching on everybody—including himself . They dive deep: Would you overlook someone's weight if they checked every other box? Tracie Ellis Ross and her taste for YNs Traditional roles vs. “do what works” J.O. vs. Young Studs The cutest studs Parker has ever seen Power's rewatch value… and Lobos being a lil too zesty for a kingpin Varnell Hill spin-off?? No Face throws curveballs like: “You can only watch ONE sport forever—what's it gonna be?” Blasts J.O. for being mad about a DREAM where she cheated The room also gets into: NFL Draft NBA playoff updates NIL drama in college ball Plus:– Is it gay to text your homie “I'm mad at you”?– What do you do if someone takes “make yourself comfortable” too literally and ends up butt naked?– A Dear ADD slimeball smashes his barber's wife ✂️– And Parker asks: What do your loved ones wish you'd change about yourself? (Spoiler: He thinks he's perfect.) This one was a full-court press of foolishness, feels, and freestyles. Tera and Wes talk about the challenges of staying emotionally connected during the busy and often chaotic holiday season. They openly share moments of guilt, shame, and loneliness, showing how quickly small interactions can turn into emotional disconnect if left unaddressed. They discuss using the Core Emotion Wheel to break cycles of resentment and miscommunication. It's not about avoiding conflict but recognizing the moments when connection is slipping and choosing to lean in—whether it's over wrapping gifts, missed cues, or moments of unspoken bitterness. This conversation isn't about holiday perfection; it's about showing up for each other, even in the mess. Dr Khadija Owusu is an award-winning Leader, International Speaker and Junior Doctor. She is the Founder of The Like Her Project and Director of Programmes at Melanin Medics. She has been a guest of Michelle Obama at the White House; won the Women in STEM Award by HRH Princess Ann. In addition to this, she is a TEDx Speaker, has spoken at various national and international conferences, and she's only 26 years old. Khadija is here to share her story and hopefully inspire. KEY TAKEAWAYS Melanin Medics is a non-profit charitable organisation for present and future African and Caribbean doctors. Their focus is on supporting African and Caribbean aspiring medics, medical students and doctors in the UK who have been found to face a number of challenges, such as underrepresentation and socio-economic barriers on their career journeys. Khadija is the Founder of 'Like Her' Ghana. A charitable initiative started in 2021, The Like Her Project, aims to tackle barriers affecting girls' education in Ghana. Encouraging young girls to 'Dream, Think and Work towards being Like ‘Her' - the 'Her' in question being any phenomenal woman the young girl looks up to. Khadija fundamentally believes in amplifying the power and voices of women as well as instilling hope in young girls. With the adequate and equal provision of education, healthcare and security for girls, our nations will not only thrive but the success of future generations will be ensured. People from black and other less privileged backgrounds will have barriers in their way when getting into University, for example, they might not have anyone in their family who has been or anyone to help them actually apply for further education who has done it before. For the second episode in a row, we are finding the challenge of imposter syndrome coming up again when it comes to education and the medical profession. No matter how small an issue or microaggression may seem, it builds up over time and has an effect on our bodies and minds. We need more allies and people from outside our community who will stand up when they see something wrong. BEST MOMENTS ‘I realised this is the kind of positive impact I want to have on other families.' ‘Don't shut your mind of to pursuing medicine because of your background.' ‘We noticed a 360-degree shift in attitudes when it came to issues faced by black people.' ‘Privilege doesn't just come in the form of what race you are.' ‘Stand your ground in a respectful manner!' PODCAST DESCRIPTION Power in Diversity Podcast is a space where professional women from diverse backgrounds, eager to grow as leaders, come to be inspired and gain wisdom from other leaders. As my guests share their journey, I hope that it will give you; an aspiring or established female leader; meaning to your journey, illuminating your path and equipping you with a greater understanding of how to carve and navigate your success pathway with greater ease. Power in Diversity Podcast is also designed to equip not only individuals but, crucially, organisations who must learn to create diverse and inclusive organisations practically and not merely as a tick box exercise; especially now in this ever-changing world, everyone's diverse insight is vital to solving world issues. I hope that this podcast allows organisations to appreciate the real barriers female and ethnic minority groups face in stepping into leadership, barriers sadly I and many others have faced, and many continue to face. I'm proud to be British and proud of my African Heritage, my tribe, part of the Benin Empire. I feel blessed to be a woman. This is a non-judgmental space, but a space to learn and to become aware of the gifts and Power in Diversity. ABOUT THE HOST Dr Omo Akoje Okonkwo is a practising Cosmetic Dental Surgeon working in Private Clinics in Surrey. Her passion for empowering her patients and team led her to Transformational coaching to bring about significant change in others. Her many skill sets and ability to motivate people quickly opened leadership roles for her, including Director of Health care Projects and Clinical Lead and Senior Tutor at the prestigious King College Dental Hospital. Along her journey, she faced numerous setbacks despite her passion, academic background and experience. Notwithstanding, her passion for excellence and growth led her to embark on an MBA at the Renowned Warwick Business School. Her desire to empower women steered her to conduct qualitative research exploring Gender, Leadership, and Identity. Her findings revealed what she had always sensed, the leadership labyrinth for female and ethnic minority leaders that exists. It is now Dr Omo's mission to educate and equip individuals, organisations, and countries on the necessity, mindset, and steps to create inclusion at all levels of society. This week we got our tissues ready and watched Sorry We Missed You, the new film by director Ken Loach. Tune in to hear our thoughts on how this hard hitting film shines a light on family struggles and the financial woes of trying to survive in the harsh world of the gig economy. For Our Week In Entertainment we explored films with the theme “Ordinary People, Extraordinary Things.” And finally, we LIKE HER..WE REALLY LIKE HER…..we put the career of Norma Rae herself, Sally Field IN FOCUS.
This week, Brandi makes up for Kristin’s April Fool’s Day prank by *actually* covering the murder of Skylar Neese. It was the summer of 2012, and Dave Neese was supposed to have lunch with his 16-year-old daughter, Skylar. But Skylar wasn’t anywhere to be found. Dave was annoyed. It wasn’t like Skylar to be so irresponsible. He called her, but got no answer. Hours passed. Skylar missed her shift at Wendy’s. Her co-workers were concerned. Skylar always showed up for work. At that point, Dave and Mary Neese called the police. Then Kristin tells the story of Dr. Ossian Sweet. Brandi tried to tell this story for our Black History Month episode, but threw in the towel. (In case you couldn’t tell, this episode is a rough one!) In 1925, Dr. Ossian Sweet and his wife Gladys Sweet were ready to buy their first home. As a black couple, they faced incredible obstacles. Restrictive covenants barred people of color from buying houses in white neighborhoods. That spring and summer, mobs of white people harassed black families who moved into white neighborhoods. Despite their fears, the Sweets bought a house at 2905 Garland St, Detroit, Michigan, and prepared to defend their property. And now for a note about our process. For each episode, Kristin reads a bunch of articles, then spits them back out in her very limited vocabulary. Brandi copies and pastes from the best sources on the web. And sometimes Wikipedia. (No shade, Wikipedia. We love you.) We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the real experts who covered these cases. In this episode, Kristin pulled from: “The Sweet Trials” famous-trials.com “Ossian Sweet” wikipedia “Sweet Trials: 1925-26” encyclopedia.com The book, “We Return Fighting: The Civil Rights Movement in the Jazz Age” by Mark Robert Schneider “Dr. Alexander Turner” by Mariel Watkins for the Black Bottom Archives In this episode, Brandi pulled from: “Something Wicked” episode Dateline “16-Year-Old Skylar Neese Was Stabbed To Death By Her Two Best Friends Because They Didn’t Like Her Anymore” by William DeLong, AllThatsInteresting.com (http://allthatsinteresting.com) “From Best Friends to Killers: Teens Murder Friend Because They 'Didn't Like Her’” by Gail Deutsch and Alexa Valiente, ABC News “Murder of Skylar Neese”http://wikipedia.org
