A program to help Nova Scotia families afford their first home isn't keeping up with the housing market. The Down Payment Assistance Program saw the number of people accessing the grant in 2021 drop by 50 percent over the year before. And so far in 2022, only 12 applications have been approved. That has Dartmouth-Cole Harbour MLA and former Halifax Regional Councillor Loralei Nicoll wondering if soon that will drop to zero. The program offers help for first time home buyers with an annual combined household income of $75,000. And only houses in HRM that are $300,000 or less are eligible. That number is $200,000 elsewhere in the province. And with the average house in Nova Scotia now selling for $452,000, it has the Liberal Housing Critic asking questions. Nicoll wants to know what changes will be made to the existing program given the challenges of entering the housing market right now. And she says if young people can't find a place to live that's affordable, they won't stay.

If you don't know yourself, how can you be yourself? How many of your thoughts are of your own? What is self-abandonment and what soul lessons can you learn from it? How can you become authentically you?    In this episode of HYDRATE, Loralei Bayette and I chat about the road to becoming authentically YOU, which is achieved when your personality and soul are in alignment. In a world that seems to be going through an identity crisis and struggling to know itself, finding your own authentic truth and standing firm about it is what will allow you to have deeper, truer, and more intimate connections with others, but with yourself as well.    Loralei also talks about how important it is to look at your triggers not as something that takes your power away, but as teachers. Your triggers are an opportunity to collect feedback from yourself and do the inner work so you can heal, and become one step closer to your authentic self.    Loralei Bayette is a speaker and Holistic Transformation Coach. She helps clear obstacles and uses herself as a stepping stone and mirror to her client's self-discovery and manifesting power. She's a self-love advocate and rebellious creative who believes in questioning everything and going within to ignite the goddess within.    What we discuss…   01:45: About Loralei's beginnings 05:45: The soul's lesson in self-abandonment 07:41: Why we should be looking for our worthiness within, not externally 10:52: How our society is stuck in an identity crisis 12:12: What happens when we tap into your authentic power? 13:21: About Loralei's childhood 15:54: Why we should be checking our intentions and reasoning for achievements 18:47: Where does intimacy thrive? 20:50: Why can't we be authentic? 24:08: How to cultivate confidence and the relationship with our inner voice 27:05: How can we connect with our authentic self and not be numbed out anymore? 41:30: The dangers of social media and constant stimulation 45:00: Why do we feel the need to be seen? What connections do we crave? 48:00: Masculine emptiness Vs feminine fullness 53:38: How can we connect with that awareness about yourself? 54:20: How can we slow down and be present?   To learn more about Loralei:   Instagram: @loraleibayette YouTube: Loralei Bayette TV: Unlock Your Unlimited Potential in Life and Love

It's very insightful and powerful! In this episode, we share our advice and things we've learned from our personal dating relationships as high school/college students. I also share a reading on “How to Date” from Ben Stuart's devotional Dating in the Modern Age. This was one of the readings that showed me clearly what I should be looking for in a relationship and how to date in a God-honoring way! And it obviously worked LOLOL. This is my greatest advice to all young teens looking to enter the dating scene. I pray these words will be helpful to you as they were to me. Praise God for these words!! This episode requires a subscription: https://anchor.fm/wordsoflovepodcast/subscribe Hey y'all! This is Luvlan Lee and Welcome to the Words of Love podcast. Today, I am joined by my younger sister, Loralei Lee, who will be a freshman this year at Georgia State University and Melissa Goolsby, who is a sophomore at Samford University. We talk about what all girls talk about when they're together... boys. This is like being part of a sleepover and hearing all the tea - our struggles, our failures, our rejections, but also all the exciting and infatuating feelings of having a crush/being in a relationship. Melissa shares her advice about her previous relationships and some things that she would do differently if she could. Loralei, likewise shares her experiences of sexual abuse and trauma that she experienced from a toxic relationship at a young age - how that scarred her and had a significant impact on her future life and the way she sees the world. More people need to understand that Boys will be Boys is not justification for their actions. These "boys" should not be getting into serious relationships. These little actions have a detrimental effect on the girl - their mental health, their body image, their relationships, school, faith journey, family life, everything! Take accountability for your actions. We also discuss what Jesus says about dating and marriage - what we should be seeking in a relationship. This is such an important topic for the youth of our generation, and I pray that these words will resonate with you and guide you on your dating/relationship journeys. Jesus above all. Seek Him first. As always, speak love and live it! For more updates on the podcast, follow me on Instagram (@wordsoflovepodcast) and (@luvlanlee). "The world around us just needs to realize the power that we hold to create inclusive environments for everyone." -Loralei Cook Welcome back to Dive Right In with Jackie and Hannah! This week, we start off the episode by defining our terms and explaining some of the common definitions associated with the LGBTQ+ community. We believe that education is the key to informed activism, so by providing definitions, we hope to spread more awareness and inclusivity for the often marginalized Queer community. We also touch on the origins of the word "Queer" and how it has been reclaimed as a force for good. Jumping into our interview with Loralei Cook, an LGBTQ+ activist and one of the founders of the Queer on Campus organization, we discuss how being a Queer woman has impacted her. We then dive into discussing her organization, Queer on Campus, and the positive change it has had on people around her. It is amazing to see how young people are changing the world and we further this by discussing how to become a better ally and the importance of promoting equality for all. We also focus on representation and how the LGBTQ+ community is affected by the U.S. Healthcare system. We conclude the interview by discussing the hope and improvement the Biden-Harris Administration will bring in the upcoming months and years. Following our interview with Loralei, we wrap up by discussing the ideas of appropriation versus appreciation and the steps we plan on taking to address internalized homophobia. Thank you all for tuning in, and we we will see you all next week! Loralei Bayette This episode is all about relationships and viewing our relationships as a mirror. She got really real and vulnerable and basically said on the show, “I don't trust myself to be in a relationship.” And it's so freakin cool for a woman to just own that and just really say, “Ok listen, now is not the time. The time is to love ME. The time is to be in my own body. The time is to understand myself.” I just thought that was one of the rad-est things that has ever been shared on the show so I appreciate her so much for saying that. We're really digging into the topics of feeling lonely, insignificant, unloveable-whatever it may be- and how we are dependent on relationships to provide that for us. That's a broken model, we really have to fulfill that within ourselves, because a relationship is only adding value to what we already have.   About Loralei Bayette  Loralei Bayette is a speaker and Holistic Trasnformation Coach.
