Europe is a prime target for global adversaries. There is a strong emphasis on eCrime across the region as well as a rise in hacktivism and espionage stemming from ongoing conflicts. The CrowdStrike 2025 European Threat Landscape Report breaks down these trends. In this episode, Adam and Cristian cover the highlights. They start with cybercrime, a major theme of the report. The five most targeted European nations were the U.K., Germany, Italy, France, and Spain, which also represent the region's largest economies (excluding Russia). The most targeted sectors were manufacturing, professional services, technology, industrials and engineering, and retail. Adam explains how eCrime threat actors are looking for victims with a high need to stay operational. “With manufacturing, if they're knocked offline because of ransomware, they can count the downtime in dollars and cents,” he shares as an example. On the nation-state front, Russia is top of mind. Since its invasion of Ukraine in 2022, many Russian threat actors who operated globally are more focused on Ukraine and areas related to the conflict. If we live in the past, we will miss the opportunity to love and invest in the people around us today. The only thing that can redeem society is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Wisdom can be a defense for us, but the beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord. Also, we can make plans for our lives, but we don't have to be anxious to control the outcome. What are you loving and living for? Have you found wisdom? Go to Christ and find wisdom and rest for your sould. Have rest, enjoy the seasons of life as they come, and find peace in Jesus Christ!

Google says hackers associated with a prolific ransomware group are sending extortion emails to executives at “numerous” large organizations after claiming to have stolen their sensitive information from a suite of business software products developed by Oracle. Also, OpenAI has sold 6.6 billion dollars in shares held by current and former employees, according to a new report from Bloomberg. The sale pushed OpenAI's total valuation to 500 billion dollars, the highest ever achieved by a privately held company. In the gripping second part of the Daniel Markel case we delve deeper into the intricate web of deceit surrounding the murder-for-hire plot. This episode focuses on the trials of the two masterminds behind the shocking crime: Charlie and Donna Adelson. Charlie Adelson's Trial: The episode begins with the conviction of Charlie Adelson. The state's case was built on compelling evidence, including audio recordings from a Miami restaurant where Charlie discussed killing a blackmailer or a police officer. The money trail connecting the Adelson family's dental practice to Katie Magbanua, the ex-girlfriend of the hitman, also played a crucial role. Donna Adelson's Arrest and Trial: Just seven days after her son's conviction, the matriarch, Donna Adelson, was arrested at Miami International Airport as she and her husband, Harvey, were attempting to flee to Vietnam, a non-extradition country. Key evidence against her included monitored phone calls where she discussed fleeing the country and a recording where she was overheard mulling over extradition policies and reading text messages from her daughter, Wendi. During her trial, testimony from her fellow inmates revealed her attempts to orchestrate false testimony and her admission of her role in the murder. The verdict was unforgettable, as Donna gasped dramatically when she was found guilty of first-degree murder, conspiracy, and solicitation, becoming the fifth person convicted in Dan's murder.
