Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan, Ali Zafar, Atif Aslam - who’s next? Many celebrities in Pakistan have ridden the fame ladder straight to the largest film industry in the world: Bollywood. One of the effects of this is the exodus of talent from Lollywood, but perhaps the largest implication is the backdrop of tension between India and Pakistan, and how it hangs like a cloud above those specific actors. Season 2 kicks off with the Maazes examining the growing trend of jumping industries, the events that have transpired as a result, and the future of actors who have already made the switch.
Arslan and Lamees love Mahira Khan, so they mean this with the best intentions.... but what is she doing? What is Mashion and why did Bin Roye need to be on TV and cinema?
Talking about School and work. How our parents react to us being famous Youtuber's now. We met Mahira khan and our experience.
Asim Raza directs, Parey Hut Love. He previously directed the urban style film Ho Mann Jahaan starring Mahira Khan, Adeel Husain and Sheheryar Munawar. Apparently, Mahira was the first choice for Parey Hut Love. But later Maya Ali came in to replace her. Besides Ali, Sheheryar Munawar is playing the lead hero role in this upcoming Pakistani film. Zara Noor Abbas aka Arsala from the popular serial Khamoshi (2017) makes her silver screen debut with this romantic modern age Pakistani movie. The seasoned Imran Aslam is the writer of this film, which promises to take the audience on a two-hour voyage filled with love, emotions and much more.
We speak to Pakistani actress, model and video jockey Maya Ali about starring in her new film Parey Hut Love. Maya Ali who plays the lead role in Parey Hut Love has found working in this film as a “great experience.” She has learnt so much from Mahira Khan. Wishing to emulate Mahira, Maya said: “I wish I could copy her ada and her moves, which I have already seen in More Saiyan (song).” Maya also acknowledges that the comedy of Ahmed Ali Butt in the film is the best. Overtime Maya has had a shift in opinion about her co-star Sheheryar Munawar after working with him in PHL: “I’m very much blessed that I’m working with him. I did not know much about him before this film. But I’ve already done two-three shoots with him.” Maya admits that television is a big medium in Pakistan. Hence she will give preference to dramas. But as a film actress, she will continue to act, subject to the script

How do you tackle cyber bullying? Do feminists hate men? And what has #MeToo done for Pakistan? These are just some of the questions tackled by the all-female panel brought together for this special edition of The Conversation, recorded in front of an audience of Karachi University Students from the Institute of Business Administration. Pakistan is placed second to last in the latest Global Gender Gap Index, beaten only by war-ravaged Yemen, and yet it has also voted in a female Prime Minister, had female generals within the armed forces and a strong feminist movement ever since its birth in 1947. Many of the issues women face here are the same as those faced by women across the world but the stakes can be very high. How a woman behaves in public can, in extreme cases, be a matter of life or death. On the panel are: Faiza Saleem – pioneering comedian and founder of the first female stand-up group in the country Hajra Khan – The first Pakistani, male or female, to have been signed by a foreign football club and captain of the women's national football team Mahira Khan – Pakistan's biggest female film star the award winning actress Nighat Dad - set-up Pakistan's first cyber bullying helpline and lawyer involved in Pakistan's first #MeToo case Presented by Kim Chakanetsa and produced by Andrea Kennedy Image: Faiza Saleem, Mahira Khan, Hajra Khan and Nighat Dad (L-R) Credit: Faiza Saleem, Huma Akram, Shakeel Bin Afzal and Nighat Dad (L-R)

Ms. Sultana Siddiqui is the Founder and President of HUM Network and Moomal Productions. She started HUM in 2004 with a 24-hour entertainment channel, HUM TV and has grown it into one of Pakistan’s fastest-growing entertainment companies, adding channels like HUM Masala, HUM Sitaray, eventually HUM Films, several magazine productions, and are now working to launch HUM News. In 2016 alone they brought in over $34 million in revenue, and are one of the only entertainment companies publicly listed on the Karachi Stock Exchange. Her career is fascinating for many reasons, and of them is how she has found a way to marry her artistic and creative passions with her entrepreneurial skill. She initially started as a producer for PTV in 1974 and eventually realized a need and opportunity to create quality content or shows for the channel. So she launched Moomal Productions, where she produces and often directs award-winning shows like Yeh Zindagi and Doosri Dunya and more recently Zindagi Gulzar Hai One of the secrets to her success seems to be a skill of both identifying and then bringing out the best in people, and she used this to introduce some of the country’s most talented actors, such as Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan, and Kubra Khan. What’s fascinating is how she has done all of this this initially as a single parent, how she has used her platform to help stir the conscience and actions of a nation through the messages in her shows, and how she has become a shining role model for women and men, kids and adults, entrepreneurs and artists, and so much more. *Building Pakistan is brought to you by the team at Amal Academy (amalacademy.org), with support from +Acumen (plusacumen.org) as our distribution partner.
