Having With toured and performance in places such as Copenhagen Denmark, Malmö Sweden, Tokyo Japan, and of course New York and Los Angeles, Navy Jonez experiences both inside and outside of Hip-Hop have taken him across the world and provided a unique world-view few Hip-Hop artists, let alone people can fully appreciate. Pulling influence from legendary Hip-Hop artists such as Roc Marciano and Griselda and Navy Jonez incorporated his appreciation for dark beats and clever rhymes into music to create a unique tapestry of sounds that has set his catalog apart from the standard run-of-the-mill West Coast artists in Southern California's local Hip-Hop scenes. Having worked with artists such as D-Rell, Chop the Father, and releasing a slew of mixtapes produced by Riverside-based producer Accosta the Man; Navy Jonez has quickly made a name for himself with his use of dark production and sharp lyrical wit. In today's episode, Navy Jonez joins Step Off! Radio to discuss the inspirations behind his music, growing up as an aspiring emcee in Brooklyn New York, his time in the service, and the backstory behind some of his favorite songs. Likewise, we also got to discuss upcoming projects and what the future holds for his music. So with that said, we are proud to present to you our conversation with Navy Jonez Locker.

This week we have the pleasure of chatting with Matthew Barzun, the former U.S. Ambassador to the UK and Sweden. Matthew is known as the "Vinyl Diplomat" because not only did he put vinyl records and a turntable in his office and encourage visitors to pick something to listen to, he held concerts at his residences. This was a lot of fun, and let me tell you, Matthew has some cool stories (like the one with Annie Lennox). As you read this, observe yourself. I really mean it. Now. Right now. Are you here or are you already on your way to the next thing? Allow yourself to stop. Allow means give permission to. “I give myself permission in this moment to just be here, with this piece of text.” There can still be other things pulling you and you can give yourself permission anyway. “I allow myself to not engage with all the things that are pulling me, so that I can just be in this moment.” Slow down. Be in the body. You know what it means for you to be in the body. Check-in with one question at the time How does your breath feel? - Mine feels deep, urgent and powerful. Where are you? - I’m sitting in my office, in my apartment, in Malmö Sweden. What do you notice in your body? - My heart is pounding, stomach feels warm, there is some pressure in the chest, my space feels open and focused. This is all that is happening. You have space for all of this. Allow it to be as it is. Just let go.

This week I got the opportunity to interview a great guy called Olle Dernevik, Olle is a 36 year old Jazz drummer living in Malmö Sweden. I met this young man down our local pub (yes the pubs are still open in Sweden:-) )were he plays jazz every Monday evening. I’m not 100% sure how our paths crossed but I do recall him telling me he spend a chunk of his childhood in the North-east of England just outside Durham, another piece of the jigsaw regarding our first conversation was when I totally confessed the fact that Jazz is the music genre I dislike most of all… Lets be honest, for the first encounter I must admit it was a tad insulting to this Swedish Geordie lad, but it didn't seem to deter him agreeing to be interviewed and have an attempt to convert me to like this confusing sometimes chaotic music. I believe Olle has a great way of explaining his art and passion, so please kickback, relax and enjoy the next 50+ minutes of my next episode of Fluently Swenglish with Olle Dernevik

We’re sad to say goodbye to Mark Mandel this week but excited to bring you an interview he and guest host Robert Martin did with Björn Lindberg of Massive Entertainment. The gaming studio is located in Sweden and owned by Ubisoft. Their most recent game, The Division 2, is a “looter shooter” game that was released in March. It can be played solo or users can be matched up to play with or against others. To keep the game running smoothly, Massive employs a micro-service architecture to divide and conquer the trials of creating and running such a large, intense game. The Division 2 was launched with Google Cloud, a process Björn says was a bit easier than launching on physical hardware. Autoscaling in the cloud has created a simpler, more trustworthy gaming process as well, and by connecting to data centers in multiple regions, they’re able to decrease latency. Björn Lindberg Björn Lindberg is working as On-Line technical director at Massive Entertainment a Ubisoft owned and operated game studio in Malmö Sweden. He does design and implementation of on-line backend systems for large AAA on-line games such as The Division series of games and World in Conflict. Episode 6 Alcohol & Sweden… This Interesting cocktail is hosted by Martin and Ian with special guest Jeffrey Scott Brown, owner and Master Brewer at South Plains Brewery here in Malmö Sweden. In the studio today they discuss Swedens and Swedes attitude regarding Alcohol, from drinking mostly Brännvin (hard liquor) 120 years ago to becoming the worlds largest user per capita of BiB (Bag in Box) wine drinkers. At the moment roughly a third (32 percent) of all alcohol sold in Sweden is beer. There are about 300 breweries in Sweden - large-scale producers and craft breweries alike, which means that outside of Great Britain, Sweden has Europe’s highest number of breweries per capita. Early 1900s Alcohol became a major issue in large cities in Sweden which prompted the start of the Temperance movement in Sweden that called for teetotalism and total ban on alcohol, blaming alcohol for bad health and breakdown in family life. A unique system called the Bratt System was introduced between 1917 and 1955 to control alcohol consumption, by rationing liquor. In many ways, todays Swedes have adopted a more continental drinking habit. Is this because Sweden is a more diverse society where cultures are constantly changing. Listen to find out… Jeffrey’s brewery, South Plains Brewing Company can be found at: http://www.southplains.se
