She also learned that being vulnerable and showing the real you is so rewarding. What's blocking us, what's holding us back? How much are we ready for deeper conversation? How do we connect with people and how much are we ready to show our vulnerability? And, what's make home a home? And now, time to say goodbye. What a journey so far! Here all my contacts also if you have a story to share:https://linktr.ee/smalltalks—Rachel Thiel is a multidiciplinary designer helping people to set up their brand exactly the way they want their services and products to be perceived to leverage their business and on the other hand she is also creating style concepts for spaces, like cafés and restaurants, CoWorking Spaces or as well events.—Rachel was mentioning ‘Humans (all parts)' as an amazing documentary about mankind and the big questions in life: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdb4XGVTHkE In partnership with Attentive Mind Improving lives & business through meditation principles. In this episode we talk about many forms of injustice. I stand against racism and want to help building a world free of discrimination, hate and violence. Being a role model though good example and good actions can inspire people to live a more purposeful life and as a consequence create a positive effect on their community and eventually on the planet. In this episode, I connected to 3 inspiring voices:Grace Maddrell, 14 years old climate activist from England https://twitter.com/ElmGraceDr. Richard Munang from Kenya, climate action expert, UN innovation award winner and author of the book Making Africa Work through the Power of Innovative Volunteerism https://twitter.com/RichardMunangFrancis Ssembatya 18y. climate activist from Uganda https://twitter.com/FrancisSsembat2This episode is about how to empower young generation, being role model, representing minority, living a purposeful life, climate changes effect in Africa, friendship, dreams and vision. How would be the world if we could have millions of people living a purposeful life, where passion is the currency? Inspiring somebody is part of solving problems. We need to be brave for the kids who are dreaming those biggest dreams of equality and better world today. Every child should know that their future matters and their dreams are possible. As you know I particularly care about the climate change movement and, on top of that, I believe in listening to the young generation and to anyone that empowers them.Enjoy listening!FlaviaClubhouse: @flavia.marfellaFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/smalltalksatmidnight/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/small_talks_at_midnight/Goodpods app - social media for podcast lovers: @flaviaE-mail: midnightsmalltalks@gmail.com In partnership with Attentive Mind Improving lives & business through meditation principles. Welcome back to Small Talks at midnight,Can a garden heal you? How can we reconnect with the nature and nourish ourselves?A long held vision is taking shape. Music, healing gardens and reflections on why we should reconnect with the nature and hold to our dream - France. This time I went to France, to talk to Mark Maddrell, shiatsu practitioner, gardener, songwriter and proud dad. What's a healing garden? What does it take to make a dream come true?...Inspired by the Healing Field at Glastonbury Festival, Mark together with his partner Aurore have long wanted to create a permanent equivalent where people can come for healing, and therapists can work in a naturally beautiful place. This long held vision took time to see the light. We will follow all the up and downs and challenges that finally brought Mark to be able to feel the freedom of walking barefoot again.Inspired by a Tweet from Podchaser, I wrote a letter to my podcast. I thought it's a lovely idea to start this episode and to reflect on how a passion make us feel that we're on the right path in life and give us hope for a happy and exciting future.‘Dear podcast,You are making me even more curious about life and people. You are making me laugh, reflect and develop myself. You make me realize that I need to continue to give voice to the dreamers, speak up on injustice and open my heart to the beauty around us'.And now, time to get inspired with a new endearing story.Enjoy listening!Subscribe, share if you like, connect writing to midnightsmalltalks@gmail.comTake care!---In this episode:Mark Maddrell's website: http://entempsvoulu.org/http://SoundCloud.com/MarkMisrule for music projects Do you want to know more about healing field at GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL?https://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/areas/the-green-fields/the-healing-field/Clubhouse: @flavia.marfellaFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/smalltalksatmidnight/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/small_talks_at_midnight/Goodpods app - social media for podcast lovers: @flaviaE-mail: midnightsmalltalks@gmail.com In partnership with Attentive Mind Improving lives & business through meditation principles. This time I connected to Colorado. There I met JJ Ramberg, award-winning television host, bestselling author, and entrepreneur. After hosting for 13 years a program about entrepreneurship for NBC News Your Business, she now decided to try how does it feel to be behind the scene, co-founding with her brother Ken Goodpods, a peer to peer podcast recommendation app, that seems to become a real game-changer for the podcast industry.—Host: Flavia Marfella - also on Goodpods now as @flavia - Show: Small Talks (at midnight)Guest: JJ Ramberg (biography below)—How difficult is to find podcast recommendation and how difficult is for the podcaster to be known?Recently I have been asked what is the major challenge as an indipendent podcaster. I had no doubt in answering to that and soon I discovered many other podcasters have the same issue: just letting the people know that you even exist. In particular to the ones that already are familiar to podcast, not necessarily are interested to find recommendations on other social media. So far I found twitter quite useful for that scope, but still very dispersive. It was actually on Twitter where I got in contact with Goodpods for the first time. The things that I love the most, beside the user friendliness and a lovely graphic, is that you can find single episode according to your mood and interests. As a podcaster you can engage with the listeners, things to me impossible at the moment with the current platform.Even harder if you want to get the word out about one episodes, since I touch every time a different topic.Several top influencers including Dan Harris, Rachel Hollis, Gwynet Paltrow, Kim Kardashian, and brands like The Today Show and Entertainment Weekly have signed up -- giving smaller podcasters an opportunity to tap into a huge pool of listeners. If you are a podcast lover, I think you should just try, soon available on Android. If you are a podcaster and your show is on Apple Podcasts, it will automatically be in Goodpods and you have just to do few steps to connect with your profile.I was so lucky to be one of the first in Europe, so I could choose a simpler username, instead of the classical name22345.So, follow my account @flavia e subscribe to my show Small Talks (at midnight), comment on episodes, and share your episodes on your profile! Looking forward to meeting you there!Guest: JJ RambergHost for 13 years of ‘Your business' on NBC news, dedicated to providing a forum for issues affecting the owners of small and growing businesses. She hosted also the series Follow the Food for the BBC World News, an eight-part documentary series that questions where our food comes from and how will this change in the near future, thanks to new technologies and innovative ways of farming.Author of the best-selling book It's Your Business – 183 Essential Tips that Will Transform Your Small Business and The Startup Club, a fun fiction book tailored to young entrepreneurs.JJ refers to the children book 'The Little Engine That Could.Clubhouse: @flavia.marfellaFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/smalltalksatmidnight/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/small_talks_at_midnight/Goodpods app - social media for podcast lovers: @flaviaE-mail: midnightsmalltalks@gmail.com
This time I've spoken with Estella, research associate at the University college in London.Estella received a PhD in Social Anthropology from the University of Sydney (Australia), with a study on social responses to crisis and crisis management in Lebanon. We refer in this episode to her book ‘Specchi scomodi' (available italian, but topic available on her website, detail below) where she describes the forced migration and she explain in a very clear way the background of that.Recorded at the beginning to the Covid19 outbreak, we touched the topic of migration and solidarity. With this episode I put myself completely outside my comfort zone in an absolutely humble approach in learning something far from my daily life. Estella made for me very easy trying to share a very complex topic in a way I could feel connected.---Follow Small Talks (at midnight) on social media and subscribe on your music or podcast app, to not miss the next weekly episodes.Clubhouse: @flavia.marfellaFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/smalltalksatmidnight/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/small_talks_at_midnight/Goodpods app - social media for podcast lovers: @flaviaE-mail: midnightsmalltalks@gmail.com---What brought Estella Carpi to Lebanon and what moves her in a constant research of peace and human development and progress ?We talked about her experience in Lebanon, the difference between compassion and informed solidarity, her love for arabic world and fascination for what she defines ‘what is not me'.She also opened up sharing her feelings around reaching a dream, when it comes to her field: as a researcher speaking of failure is a taboo. What I learned during this conversation is that there is always something that we can do: informed solidarity is the way to change things, a way to make humanity to feel real.Guest: Estella Carpi:1) https://mabisir.wordpress.com/ Views on anthropological, social and political affairs in the Middle East. 2) Specchi scomodi. Welcome back to Small Talks at Midnight, I'm your host Flavia Marfella. This time I went to in New York. There I met Angela. Transformation coach & meditation teacher.Starting from her own difficult past, she is a living example of how you can heal yourself. It all began with a little book called You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay and nothing will stop this brave woman in fighting injustice and helping other people with her example. She worked this past year with her Senator to help creating a law to help victims of domestic violence. As she also is a plant-based chef, we talked about food, nutrition and her passion for Italy, my country.Listen to this fearless voice from New York, against domestic violence. A story of healing through meditation. In her work as a transformation coach & meditation teacher, she uses the same tools that saved her life and set her on a path of peace and happiness. This past year, after trying to convert anger in something positive, she come up with an idea on her meditation cushion.'What is happiness?' 'How am I going to live my life?'At age of 29 Angela found herself in a turning point. She wanted to leave her abusive marriage and she figured that she needed a plan. It was time for her to make some brave decision to get out of a difficult situation and really heal herself. When the things seemed to go on a right path again, Angela had to face another traumatic episode. Again, she found in herself the strength to go on, this time thanks to meditation.Angela shared with me how she uses the same tools that saved her life to help other people to find a path of peace and happiness.Meditation is for her an incredible source of ideas and a way to convert anger in something good.Even if I just met Angela, I immediately could feel she is unstoppable. Welcome back to Small Talks!Every episode, new guest, new city, one big wish: inspiring you with genuine stories about dreams and what makes them happen, meeting our guests across the world at midnight, in the silence of their home. This time we will be in the Netherlands.Marianne is a lifestyle family and portrait photographer – originally from Norway – married to a German and mom to 3 teenagers. If you are curious about her work, you can look into her Instagram accounts: @picturelyspoken and @mariannehopeMarianne shared with me that her dream when she was young was to be a creative. She just didn't know in what way, straight out of school. She told me the story of how she met the love of her life and what brought her in the Netherlands. We talked about how hard and competitive can be the life of a photographer and how she grew in her confidence, finding her uniqueness and strengths. She told me that to study any kind of creative profession was very hard in Norway in 1992 as there were so few schools and student spots. Since she had good grades in school and an ear for languages she instead chose something that came relatively easy to her - Economic study in Mannheim, Germany. She didn't like the study at all, but she did like living abroad, loved student life as it was and there she met the love of her life.In the end – after becoming a mom and passionately capturing her kids' visual story as an avid scrapbooker - photography found her. The day she decided to take the step to be my own employer and to photograph people for a living, is the day she finally found her why: to capture other people's stories and to know that they will treasure these moments for years and years, is what makes her happy and what drives her to put in the hard work every day.
