Interview with Marc Henderson, President & CEO of Laramide Resources Ltd.Our Previous Interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/laramide-resources-tsxlam-secures-prime-uranium-exploration-rights-in-kazakhstan-5895Recording date: 14th February 2025Laramide Resources (TSX:LAM) is strategically positioning itself in the uranium sector with three key assets across the United States, Australia, and Kazakhstan. The company's portfolio comes at a crucial time as nuclear power gains prominence in the global push for clean energy. The company's flagship Church Rock ISR project in New Mexico holds 50 million pounds of uranium resources and is approaching the final stages of development. With most permits secured, including a U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission license, the project awaits one remaining state permit related to groundwater restoration. Church Rock is projected to be shovel-ready by 2026-2027, with initial production capacity of 1 million pounds annually, scalable to 3 million pounds. The ISR mining method offers advantages of lower capital costs and faster path to production. In Australia, Laramide's Westmoreland project in Queensland represents another significant opportunity with over 50 million pounds of uranium resources. The conventional mining project targets production of 5 million pounds annually and could be operational by 2028-2029, pending the state's approval of uranium mining. The company recently expanded its portfolio with a greenfield exploration project in Kazakhstan, the world's leading uranium producer. This venture, viewed as an "asymmetric upside opportunity," provides Laramide with exploration potential in a highly prospective region.CEO Marc Henderson sees strong fundamentals in the uranium market, noting that utilities are comfortable with $80/lb uranium prices, with potential to reach $100/lb. He emphasizes that success in the current market requires projects that are viable at these price levels. The company's development strategy aligns with growing uranium demand driven by nuclear power's role in clean energy transitions. Years of underinvestment in new supply, combined with existing mine depletion, has created a structural deficit in the uranium market. Henderson notes, "We need a lot more uranium, but we don't need it all to start in 2030," highlighting the strategic timing of Laramide's project pipeline. The investment thesis centers on Laramide's exposure to rising uranium prices through low-cost, late-stage development assets. Near-term catalysts include the final permit for Church Rock and Queensland's potential approval of uranium mining for Westmoreland. This positions the company to potentially become a significant supplier to Western utilities as the market faces growing supply deficits.Learn more: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/laramide-resourcesSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

I'm in Buenos Aires this week, so I might be a little slow reporting on today's budget, but I'll come to it, don't you worry.Shortly before Covid hit, I became CEO of a Canadian company by the name of Cypherpunk Holdings (HODL.CN). I was very pleased with that ticker symbol—HODL. My idea. But I did not have a clue what would happen as a result …I'm writing about the company today because, even though I stood down four years ago, I know a number of readers bought shares because I was the CEO. It's quite a story.Mining entrepreneur Marc Henderson controlled a shell company that had just received a large payout from the Mongolian government for some uranium assets it had seized illegally, as you do, and he wanted to use the opportunity to start a crypto business. We knew each other from way back, and he approached me because of my book.He also brought in Canadian bitcoin entrepreneur Moe Adham, and Moe and I put together a proposal to become a privacy tech investment company. We were both quite ideological about it. We had grave concerns about the increasing imposition on our privacy from both Big Brother and Big Tech. We felt it was only going to increase, and that therefore there would a need for privacy tech—anything from VPNs to private messaging apps such as Signal, to bitcoin and privacy coins. How right we were. Look at some of the stuff that went on during Covid.Perhaps where we misjudged was that we thought there would be a large appetite for privacy tech amongst the general public as a result. It turns out most of the general public care more about convenience than they do about their privacy, at least online. In many cases, they don't even realise what they are sacrificing.Buying gold to protect yourself in these uncertain times? Like a champ, Tony Guoga kept on buying stock, especially on dips, building up an enormous position. He owns about 35% of the company. Talk about management being aligned with the interests of the shareholders.Recently, however, the company had a rebrand. With all the bitcoin ETFs, it was pointless holding bitcoin, they thought, and the company decided to focus instead on SOL, which lacks a mainstream investment vehicle. Sol Strategies Ltd became the new name, and, a few months earlier, they brought in a new CEO, Leah Wald, as well.In the last fortnight, the shares have gone absolutely nuts—going from around twelve cents to above C$2. There have been several catalysts. First, Leah has made a number of well-received appearances in the media that have generated some interest in the stock. Second, it has become the easiest way to get exposure to SOL. Third, "HODL" is also the US ticker symbol for one of the bitcoin ETFs, and many Canadians, typing in HODL, accidentally bought this company instead. LOL.Veteran traders will know the chart pattern the stock has played out. I believe it's known as the hockey stick.Just incredible. And look at the volumes that have come in. The market cap of the company went from about C$17m to C$335 at the top of the market yesterday. Guoga's stake alone went from about C$6m to north of C$115m.For years, the company was trading at half its NAV of C$30. Suddenly it's trading at ten times. From a technical point of view, it shows just what can happen to a company after it builds all that cause trading sideways for many years. Interview with Marc Henderson, President & CEO of Laramide Resources Ltd.Our previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/laramide-resources-tsxlam-uranium-developer-positions-for-nuclear-resurgence-4989Recording date: 5th September 2024Laramide Resources, a TSX and ASX listed uranium company, has made a strategic move that could significantly enhance its position in the global uranium market. The company has secured exploration rights for approximately 6,000 square kilometers in Kazakhstan, the world's leading uranium producer accounting for 40% of global production.CEO Marc Henderson announced this development at the World Nuclear Association conference in London, describing it as a "scoop" that positions Laramide in "the best uranium real estate now on the planet to explore." This move into Kazakhstan complements Laramide's existing portfolio of late-stage development projects in the United States and Australia. The significance of this acquisition lies in several key factors:Prime Location: Kazakhstan is renowned for its uranium resources and favorable geology for In-Situ Recovery (ISR) mining, a cost-effective and environmentally less intrusive method.First-Mover Advantage: Laramide appears to be one of the few western junior companies actively exploring for ISR-amenable uranium deposits in Kazakhstan.Favorable Deal Structure: The company has the right to acquire the Kazakh entity holding the licenses over the next 3-4 years, with modest initial commitments and success-based compensation.Exploration Potential: The vast land package provides ample opportunity for significant discoveries. As Henderson notes, Kazakhstan typically doesn't put projects into production unless they contain at least 40 million pounds of uranium.Macro Trends: The growing focus on nuclear energy for clean power generation and energy security could drive long-term demand for uranium. However, investors should be aware of potential risks, including exploration uncertainty, geopolitical considerations, and uranium market volatility. Operating in a new jurisdiction may also present operational and regulatory challenges. The deal structure allows Laramide to manage its financial exposure while retaining significant upside potential. The compensation is split between cash and shares, aligning the acquisition with exploration success. This move comes at a time when the global uranium market is at a critical juncture. Years of underinvestment in exploration and development, coupled with growing recognition of nuclear energy's role in achieving decarbonization goals, could potentially lead to a supply-demand imbalance in the coming years. For investors, Laramide's expansion into Kazakhstan represents a high-risk, high-reward opportunity. The company has positioned itself in a prime location for uranium exploration, with the potential for large-scale discoveries that could substantially impact its resource base and future production potential.Key points for investors to monitor include:Progress and results of initial exploration activities in KazakhstanAny updates on the acquisition timeline or termsDevelopments in Kazakhstan's regulatory environment for foreign mining companiesAdvancements in Laramide's existing projects in the US and AustraliaChanges in global uranium market dynamics and pricingWhile this venture offers significant potential, investors should conduct thorough due diligence and consider their risk tolerance. Laramide's success in Kazakhstan will depend on exploration results, effective navigation of the local business environment, and broader uranium market trends. As the global focus on clean energy intensifies, Laramide's strategic position in a key uranium-producing region could provide substantial long-term value creation opportunities for shareholders.View Laramide Resources' company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/laramide-resourcesSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

Interview with Marc Henderson, President & CEO of Laramide Resources Ltd.Our previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/laramide-resources-tsxlam-moving-assets-through-growth-phases-3813Recording date: 27th February 2024Uranium Developer Positioned to Supply Fuel for Nuclear GrowthWith global electricity demand projected to rise 50% by 2050, nations face immense challenges reconciling surging consumption with climate change commitments under the Paris Agreement. This urgency has thrust nuclear power back into mainstream policy debates given reactors emit no greenhouse gases during operation. Against this backdrop, uranium mining firms with the potential to deliver new production offer investors direct leverage to benefit from nuclear's resurgence.Toronto-based Laramide Resources represents one prospect to capitalize on the compelling fundamentals taking shape. While not a household name, the company holds a portfolio of advanced uranium assets in the United States and Australia that could be contributing up to 10 million pounds per year of low-cost output by the end of this decade. Two core projects form the crux of this strategy - the permitted Church Rock ISR deposit in New Mexico capable of initial production in 12-18 months, and the potentially massive Westmoreland project in Queensland pending policy changes. In the U.S., Laramide is set to provide domestic utilities much needed supply diversity through its flagship New Mexico asset containing 31 million pounds amenable to in-situ recovery methods. With permits essentially in place, Church Rock offers investors near-term exposure to higher uranium prices once $50 million of capital expenditure brings the mine online at a million pounds per year. Importantly, the modular design facilitates scalability to 3 million annual pounds utilizing existing infrastructure. Beyond Church Rock, the company owns a handful of other early-stage ISR projects that ultimately could contribute 5 million combined U.S. pounds annually. However, Australia is where Laramide offers asymmetric upside potential through its Westmoreland deposit, one of the largest and highest grade undeveloped uranium resources held by a junior miner globally. With an initial 16 year mine life extracting 51 million pounds through conventional open pit methods, the capital outlay to deliver first production is comparatively modest circa $300 million. Pending a widely expected change in government leadership, Westmoreland appears poised to realize its world class potential. Exploration drilling underway aims to both expand the resource and delineate additional satellite zones that ultimately could support an operation generating over 5 million pounds per year.Attractively, Laramide has constructed a multi-prong growth pipeline requiring less than $700 million peak financing to power both the U.S. and Australian assets toward a 10 million pound overall company production target. With nuclear energy finally gaining momentum after a lost decade post-Fukushima, uranium fundamentals exhibits increasing tightness as demand steadily outpaces languishing supply, heightening the sector's appeal. As market conditions continue strengthening, Laramide offers investors quality leverage with sound projects located in favorable and stable jurisdictions. The strategic roadmap appears clearly defined - bring Church Rock online to establish a track record, fund expansions from internal cash flow, and ultimately seek to develop Westmoreland into a cornerstone asset befitting its world class credentials. Execution comes with standard mining risks, but the measured approach provides exposures across the capital structure for investors betting on the global nuclear build-out accelerating.—View Laramide Resources' company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/laramide-resourcesSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

Interview with Marc Henderson, President and CEO of Laramide Resources (TSX:LAM)Uranium has had a torrid time in recent years. However, uranium equities are regaining momentum. This is primarily influenced by the suspension of numerous uranium mining operations in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The suspensions have helped lift the spot price near a 12-month high, concluding March at stronger, but still low, US$27.35/lb.Laramide Resources is a Canadian-based uranium explorer/developer. Uranium companies have dropped like flies in a bear market that has lasted over 9 years, but Laramide is still alive and kicking. Laramide Resources owns several large uranium projects in both Australia and the U.S. Investors should be aware that Laramide Resources is dual-listed on the TSX and ASX, and is on the OTC (LMRXF).While many uranium investors expected the USD$150M NFWG budget to be a catalyst for uranium price discovery, it failed to materialise. Henderson claims Laramide was never reliant on the outcome, but instead saw it as a nice bonus. However, with COVID-19 disrupting possible budget proceedings, the "significant" US$150M now sits in limbo.Cameco and Kazatomprom are the two biggest players in the small uranium space. Henderson was able to comment on their recent decisions. Cameco's Cigar Lake has recently been put on care & maintenance; many uranium investors have perceived this as a white swan event. And today's announcement that all uranium production in Kazakhstan will cease for three months and got the market excited again as those events represent a huge production shortfall for 2020. Henderson himself is a believer too. He thinks that the buying behaviour of utility companies will have to change in the near future. How are the U.S projects holding up? The key here appears to be timescale. Laramide Resources' USP appears to be how fast it can flip the switch at its U.S projects, get into production and possibly benefit from the NFWG outcome. Laramide’s conventional hard-rock asset La Sal in Utah, United States, has permits in hand to commence a bulk sample program. This looks like a 1-year process from decision to production. It's towards the top end of the cost curve, and will need to be milled at Energy Fuels' White Mesa Mill. The project could churn out 500,000lbs of uranium for 5-6 years. This number isn't huge, but this one of Laramide Resources' smaller projects. The CAPEX looks like US$5M.The more exciting Churchrock/ISR project (contained resource estimate of 50.8Mlbs) could also get moving as soon as the uranium spot price rises to US$35-40/lb. As the projects aren't very capital intensive, Laramide's strategy would be to get them online first. The New Mexico-based La Jara Mesa project has received a draft Environmental Impact Statement from U.S. Forest Services. Henderson predicts Laramide Resources will need to spend US$30M of CAPEX to get the La Jara Mesa resource online at 1Mlbs of uranium per year, with the potential to eventually scale up to 3Mlbs as the uranium price rises and margins increase. Permitting is the absolute focus moving forward, and the message appears clear: things are finally moving in the uranium space.Laramide Resources raised US$4.5M in January. This looked extremely expensive at the time, but considering current COVID-19-induced market sentiment, it looks a lot better now. Nothing has really changed at Laramide Resources' Australian Westmoreland and Murphy projects; they are still on the shelf for the time being. There is plenty of work to be done and money to be spent, and even then there may be politically-created permitting issues. What did you make of Marc Henderson? Interview with Marc Henderson, President and CEO of Laramide Resources (TSX:LAM).As an investor, let us know which parts of what you hear in this interview you believe in. Leave a comment. We will answer.Laramide Resources is a Canadian-based company that owns large development stage uranium projects in the United States and Australia. Laramide Resources is dual-listed on the TSX and ASX, and is on the OTC (LMRXF).Laramide Resources' share price performance is not unusual for a uranium junior in uncertain times and lack of price discovery. With uranium prices at a stagnant, uneconomic low, all uranium companies, big and small, are struggling. The utility companies hold all the cards, and the assigned working group is about as accurately scheduled as Brexit, with impeachment proceedings currently taking centre stage in the capital of the free world.Laramide Resources started the year with a share price of CAD$0.43. By the looks of things, the share price has rolled down a mountain and currently sits at a 52-week low of CAD$0.20. In fact, the price is approaching a 5-year low, but is currently beaten by the Autumn of 2015. The market cap of Laramide Resources stands at CAD$27M.Henderson, like all uranium CEOs, points to the inevitable tip of the supply-demand scale as an assurance of uranium prices rising, but that does not necessarily constitute a Laramide Resources share price increase; that will depend upon Laramide's business strategy, assets, cash reserves, management team and, something often that is forgotten about in projections with more graphs than words: luck.Laramide Resources is following the uranium business strategy that has become so predictable in the description of every uranium interview: they're sitting, maintaining their projects, and waiting.Laramide Resources claims their projects are 'ready to go.' This is not the case; their New Mexico-based La Jara Mesa project is one permit away, but Henderson claims this would be a relatively short process. The Australian projects are far from shovel-ready.Henderson predicts Laramide Resources will need to spend $30M of CAPEX to get the La Jara Mesa resource online at 1Mlbs of uranium per year, with the potential to eventually scale up to 3 million as the uranium price rises and margins increase. Henderson sings the virtues of the asset, being a low cost, high-quality ISR.Henderson also shines a light on the Westmoreland Uranium Project, obtained from Rio Tinto during the time uranium was on an exponential trajectory. However, there is a lot of work and money before it is anywhere near production, and even then it is reliant on the 'right politics' in Australia and, predictably, the right price. While the management team has vast mining experience, there will be question marks around their specific knowledge and experience of uranium production from start to finish: an incredibly complex and difficult process. Henderson's dominant experience is as a chartered financial analyst. The majority of management lacks the necessary experience to inspire investor confidence, and at such a time of uncertainty, this is a major problem. The company raised money this summer, and this was just to "keep the lights on." Further dilution will be necessary. The company has been forced to throw money at assets just to keep them alive in this deepest of bear markets. Another concern will be the remuneration policy at Laramide, which has only recently seen a reduction in management compensation: about time, though maybe a sign of how bad things are getting!Henderson points towards Laramide Resource's asset quality as their USP to investors. However, the Australian project is on the shelf indefinitely, and one would question whether their American projects are of unique quality or not, but Henderson is adamant the production portfolio is enough to set Laramide apart.Company page: https://laramide.com/ Make smarter investment decisions, subscribe here: https://www.cruxinvestor.com For FREE unbiased investment information, follow us on Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook:https://twitter.com/cruxinvestor https://www.linkedin.com/company/crux-investor/ https://www.facebook.com/cruxinvestor Take advantage, hear it here first: https://www.youtube.com/CRUXinvestor
