John MosesJohn Moses has been delightfully offending audiences throughout the United States, Canada and the U.K. for more than 15 years. In 2017 John was a finalist at the Laughing Skull Comedy Festival in Atlanta and is a favorite at festivals all over including; The Boston Comedy Festival; The Asheville Comedy Festival; The Cottage Country Comedy Festival; and the Dark Comedy Festival in Toronto where he roasted Porn Legend Ron Jeremy. John released his debut album On The Edge with Uproar Entertainment in 2012. It was voted one of Laughspin.com's “10 Best Comedy Albums of 2012,” and given their dubious distinction as “The One Album From 2012 You Should Get By A Comedian You Probably Never Heard Of.” It is still in regular rotation on Sirius XM RawDog, The Foxxhole and Canada Laughs. In 2013, he became an immediate favorite on AXS.TV's Gotham Comedy Live and was featured in their special “Best of Season One.” In 2015 he made his second appearance on Gotham Comedy Live and received high praise from the show's host, the iconic Dom Irrera. In 2016 he made his third appearance on the show, it was one of the shows most popular segments in the shows three year run. He released his second album Upper Middle Trash in May of 2016. Raw Dog on SiriusXM named that album one of the best albums of 2016. An equal-opportunity offender, John's comedy transcends racial and cultural barriers—appealing to black, white, and brown audiences, the young and old, upstanding citizens and the morally bankrupt. John's style is shrewd, raw and uncompromisingly funny.
On a surprisingly sentimental episode of Nerdy For, Atlanta comic, Greg Behrens, tells us what it was like to open for Ron Jeremy AND we discover his absolutely storybook love he has with his wife. In this episode, we cover:"And then I took a stand-up class and it changed my whole life." Find out how Zoe Rogers went from actress to SAHM to thriving stand-up comic. When Zoe began performing stand-up comedy, she noticed a glaringly obvious lack of women: "How am I supposed to get good at this if I can't get booked?""Can't we all just fall apart with each other?" Zoe's superpower is connecting with people via comedy + honesty and vulnerability—"Does anybody else have no idea what they are doing?""Well, it's not ladies' night." Learn how Zoe tackled the sexism of the comedy industry and made it her mission to feature diverse comics, and how it led to her creation of the Boulder Comedy Festival. He's appeared on Comedy Central, Comics Unleashed, SyFy's series The Movie Show, and he starred in the Amazon Prime feature film Killer Kate! Ep. 220: Atheer Yacoub is a New York based comedian, writer, and podcaster. Atheer's comedy draws from her personal experience growing up as a Palestinian-Muslim in Alabama. She came to the city with high hopes of making it in a respectable career, but found herself in comedy instead. She makes her traditional Arab mother proud by standing in front of complete strangers and talking about her mismatched upbringing, her misadventures in the big city, and the psychological baggage both entail. Atheer hopes to make you laugh, or at the very least, redefine what audiences think when they hear "Arab" and "bomb" in the same sentence. Inspired by everything from Lucille Ball to Dave Chappelle, Atheer wants to bring her unique perspective to the larger comedy world in the vain hopes that someone out there can prescribe her the right pills to make it all better. Atheer has appeared on Gotham Comedy Live, which aired on AXSTV and recently taped a half-hour special for Comedy Central Arabia. She is also a writer on The Breakdown with Mehdi Barakchian and Passport Control with Mehdi Barakchian, which aired on BRICTV. She co-hosts The No Fly List Podcast and has also been featured in the Laughing Skull Comedy Festival, Boston Comedy Festival, Toronto's SheDot Festival, The New York Arab American Comedy Festival, The Big Brown Comedy Hour, and 1001 Laughs Dearborn Comedy Festival. John Moses has been delightfully offending audiences throughout the United States, Canada and the U.K. for more than 15 years. It was voted one of Laughspin.com’s “10 Best Comedy Albums of 2012,” and given their dubious distinction as “The One Album From 2012 You Should Get By A Comedian You Probably Never Heard Of.” It is still in regular rotation on Sirius XM RawDog, The Foxxhole and Canada Laughs. In 2013, he became an immediate favorite on AXS.TV’s Gotham Comedy Live and was featured in their special “Best of Season One.” In 2015 he made his second appearance on Gotham Comedy Live and received high praise from the show’s host, the iconic Dom Irrera. In 2016 he made his third appearance on the show, it was one of the shows most popular segments in the shows three year run. He released his second album Upper Middle Trash in May of 2016. Raw Dog on SiriusXM named that album one of the best albums of 2016. An equal-opportunity offender, John’s comedy transcends racial and cultural barriers—appealing to black, white, and brown audiences, the young and old, upstanding citizens and the morally bankrupt. John’s style is shrewd, raw and uncompromisingly funny. We sit down with Comedian...or comic, Will Blaylock. Will is a young up and coming Comedian from Jacksonville, FL. Lots of laughs were tossed around even some good ol' roasting of one another. Wills story is an inspirational one. "Drugs were more accessible than books." Will exclaims when speaking of his upbringing. Hold onto your seats and tuck the kids in this episode is definitely for adult ears.
We had the wonderfully bearded Jason Webb (@TennisShoeBoi, Bridgetown Comedy Festival, Laughing Skull Comedy Festival) on the Golden Girl's podcast! We watched the one where Sophia breaks her friend out a run-down retirement home. Also, Blanche plans on getting breast implants. We talked about the Roseanne living room, jacking blankets and walls made of dead rats. Music by Mike Dennison (@mikd33) and Brian Kokernak (@kokernutz).
Welcome to a bonus episode of This Is Rad! Kyle recently visited Atlanta, Georgia, for the 7th Annual Laughing Skull Comedy Festival and recorded a podcast in the theatre with comedians Jason Webb, Max Fine, Peggy Sinnott and Abby Rosenquist. During the episode, they are interrupted by a VERY special guest… Chris Rock! No, seriously, THE Chris Rock walked in while they were recording. Enjoy hearing a little insight into comedy festivals as well as a bunch of comedians geeking out after meeting one of the patron saints of comedy (who also happens to be super nice). Other walk-in guests include Kristin Lindner, Meghan Hanley and Marc Henderson.
This week Kyle and Matthew welcome This Is Rad!'s very own Marvel field correspondent Jeremy Scippio (along with comic Mark Boyd) to catch up on all the Marvel movies that have come out since their last episode. They chat about the things that worked about Deadpool and the things that didn't work about X-Men: Apocalypse. They discuss what it takes to make a good Nightcrawler and Colossus and pine for a day when the movie world gets a good version of Storm. They also celebrate the true triumph of Captain America: Civil War and the end of an endless cycle of origin stories. The guys pontificate on what we might expect from Doctor Strange and Black Panther, and Jeremy is super excited about the idea of a future Planet Hulk film. They also chat about what makes a good cinematic Spider-Man and even discuss the finer points of the Spider-Man porn. This one goes in some crazy directions. And DC fans shouldn't feel left out, there is talk about The Flash and Suicide Squad too! This episode is sponsored by Loot Crate. Give yourself a geeky gift this month! Thrill as Megan recounts her story of meeting the man himself! Chill as Kyle rambles about a bad date that involved a screening of Pink Flamingos. And Still, Burnside has yet to confront his fear of people who wear too much make-up. Plus, singing butts! Old school DIY filmmaking! And Megan comes to grips with her title as LA Comedy's cool aunt.
