Check out Mark's website here https://markmorrissmusic.co.uk/ Mark Morriss is a singer songwriter who famously made his name fronting English indie outfit The Bluetones. Mark fronted the four piece over a successful and fruitful 15 year period, scoring 14 top ten singles and 3 top ten albums, whilst touring the UK, Europe and Japan, before temporarily disbanding in 2011. After releasing ‘Memory Muscle' in 2008, Mark banded together The Mummys and hit the road. He spent the best part of that year touring Memory Muscle while The Bluetones took a short sabbatical, often with his bandmates in tow, either sharing touring duties or joining him in the studio for the odd overdub. After returning to The Bluetones to record their ‘A New Athens' swan song, Mark re-focused his attention on his solo career. In 2013 he recorded ‘A Flash of Darkness', raising the recording funds via a successful Pledge Music campaign. The album was then given a general release by Acid Jazz Records the following year, whilst Mark continued to tour both as a solo acoustic artist and with an ever changing line up behind him. The various members of The Magical Sex Band. In the summer of 2015 Mark recorded and released ‘The Taste of Mark Morriss' for Acid Jazz. Intended as a companion to ‘A Flash of Darkness', the album comprised a collection of cover versions of songs that had informed the writing of its predecessor. At the same time as producing and touring his own solo material, Mark has produced Theme and Chapter music for the audio versions of David Walliams' successful series of children's books, from ‘The Boy in the Dress' right through to his latest, ‘The Midnight Gang', all released on Harper Collins.

"Born and living in West Yorkshire, England, Jacob Davies has become a poet who can reflect the complexities and struggles of living as a young person in confusing times. His acute wit, clarity and ability to articulate the seemingly incomprehensible, sets him apart whilst creating a rare resonance with his audience that brings to the fore the thoughts many have and try to keep hidden. His poetry is his way of expressing his views, his anger, his incredulity and his complete lack of comprehension of how the world functions today. His first collection ‘The Things They've Never Seen' accumulated much praise and intrigue from his growing numbers of supporters who continue to appreciate his redraw honesty and openness. ‘Every Night is November' is his second published poetry collection. Aside from his poetry, Jacob is also co-editor of Morrissey fanzine ‘Knockabout World, which was founded in 2020 and has released four issues to date. He also has written a number of short stories. Jacob is a huge music fan and an avid reader, with Anne Sexton, Oscar Wilde, Morrissey, Belle & Sebastian and Mark Morriss cited as his influences in literature and music.” See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

In episode #45 of The XS Noize Music Podcast, Mark Millar catches up with The Bluetones' Mark Morriss to discuss the 25th anniversary of The Bluetones' debut album Expecting To Fly. Hailing from Heston in West London, The Bluetones (Scott Morriss – bass, Eds Chesters – drums, Adam Devlin – guitars, and Mark Morriss – vocals) arrived on the scene in 1995 with their debut single ‘Are You Blue Or Are You Blind?'. They followed this up with ‘Bluetonic' and then ‘Slight Return', which reached # 2 on the UK singles chart. The debut album ‘Expecting To Fly' was released in February 1996 and went straight to # 1. To celebrate the album's 25th anniversary, a 3LP blue vinyl lift-off lid box set will be released. The box contains the original 1996 album, a 12-track LP of non-album A- and B-sides, as well as the collection of pre-fame demos ‘The Early Garage Years'.

Alright - welcome to My 90s music podcast - the podcast where I talk to the people who lived, loved and were in the eye of the storm of the best decade ever - the glorious 90s.Today I have the pleasure of being IN A ZOOM with Nigel Clark from Dodgy and who is an incredible singer, songwriter and solo artist in his own right (sorry I nicked title from something Nigel is doing as a virtual Q and A). I had a great time chatting to Nigel and we cover his 90s experience all the way to talking about punk, the 60s bands of Laurel canyon and playing guitar soon with Toyah who lives across the road from him. But, we kick off getting settled into the interview talking about the times we are living now and why the 1980s and 90s were a simply, possibly better time for so many reasons. That was really great chatting to Nigel Clark and I really enjoyed that really honest chat about what it was like to be in the good ship Dodgy and also Nigel's world outside of that. Some brilliant memories there and I can't wait to hear Nigel's new songs with the possibility of old Dodgy demos and Bluetones demos seeing the light of day. Also if you are in Norwich on Sept 4th for the Common People gigs where Nigel, Chris Helme and Mark Morriss get together to blow us all away - do check that out.Nigel has new album coming out in Oct called Make Believe Love which he is very excited about and I am sure you are too.Follow Nigel on Twitter @dodgy_nigel and on Instagram @Nigel_Songs and Nigel Clark on Facebook.
