Check out Mark's website here https://markmorrissmusic.co.uk/ Mark Morriss is a singer songwriter who famously made his name fronting English indie outfit The Bluetones. Mark fronted the four piece over a successful and fruitful 15 year period, scoring 14 top ten singles and 3 top ten albums, whilst touring the UK, Europe and Japan, before temporarily disbanding in 2011. After releasing ‘Memory Muscle' in 2008, Mark banded together The Mummys and hit the road. He spent the best part of that year touring Memory Muscle while The Bluetones took a short sabbatical, often with his bandmates in tow, either sharing touring duties or joining him in the studio for the odd overdub. After returning to The Bluetones to record their ‘A New Athens' swan song, Mark re-focused his attention on his solo career. In 2013 he recorded ‘A Flash of Darkness', raising the recording funds via a successful Pledge Music campaign. The album was then given a general release by Acid Jazz Records the following year, whilst Mark continued to tour both as a solo acoustic artist and with an ever changing line up behind him. The various members of The Magical Sex Band. In the summer of 2015 Mark recorded and released ‘The Taste of Mark Morriss' for Acid Jazz. Intended as a companion to ‘A Flash of Darkness', the album comprised a collection of cover versions of songs that had informed the writing of its predecessor. At the same time as producing and touring his own solo material, Mark has produced Theme and Chapter music for the audio versions of David Walliams' successful series of children's books, from ‘The Boy in the Dress' right through to his latest, ‘The Midnight Gang', all released on Harper Collins.

So I compiled my favourite parts from the video nasty series of the top tier,  successfully prosecuted films over on Patreon & have put them in order of my least favourite to the movie that I think is the best. All the nasties with a total of 19 guests, a silly amount of booze & the filthiest 39 movies that you ever would see.0.00 - Intro7.48 - Faces of Death (w/ Mark Morris)21.48 - SS Experiment Camp (w/ John Tantelon)39.41 - The Werewolf & the Yeti (w/ Nate Kaffenbarger)1.09.23 - The Beast in Heat (w/ Jake West)1.29.55 - Night of the Bloody Apes (w/ Choff)Between the interview segments there are various clips from an incredibly important documentary which is actually an episode from the BBC series 'Open Space' in which the public made programmes under their own editorial control. It's an episode called 'Suitable for Viewing in the Home?' from 1984. This gives some detailed context to pretty much all the conversations for this episode.

Recorded Live On Stage At SXSW 2024 At The British Music Embassy During the early '90s, Simon Williams pioneered the renowned indie label Fierce Panda, which became synonymous with launching singles by iconic bands such as Coldplay, Supergrass, Death Cab For Cutie, Ash, Keane, The Maccabees, and numerous others. Serving as a cornerstone of London's independent music scene, Fierce Panda bridged the gap between the UK's vibrant musical underground and mainstream charts. In one of four special episodes filmed at SXSW, we delve into the Britpop era of the '90s, addressing topics ranging from coping with suicide and mental health struggles to emphasising the importance of vocalising one's experiences. We discuss: - Childhood in Clapton - Coping with the loss of your father at the tender age of 5 - Emergence of Britpop and Grunge movements - Transitioning from NME to establishing your own record label, Fierce Panda - Collaborating with renowned artists such as Coldplay, Keane, The Bluetones, and others - Releasing the single that transformed Coldplay's trajectory - Navigating mental health challenges during a difficult period in 2019 - Offering advice and support for individuals grappling with their mental health Watch on YouTube Follow us @HOWIBECAME__ We're on Instagram, TikTok, X and Facebook Unity & Motion - A London based production company specialising in commercials and branded content Email: info@weunify.co.uk This is a UNIFY Podcast. In the year 2000, Matt took on a pivotal role as the chief engineer at the prestigious UK record label MWA. In this capacity, he was entrusted with the management of two state-of-the-art studios, where his expertise and meticulous approach played a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of audio production. As the chief engineer, Matt not only oversaw the day-to-day operations of these remarkable studios but also held the vital responsibility of quality control for the label's output, with numerous major label collaborations and joint projects. As the UK urban scene flourished in the new millennium, Matt collaborated with notable artists like Ms Dynamite, So Solid Crew, Lemar, Estelle, KRS One, Big Brovaz, Terri Walker, and worked on projects with Cold Cut, The Gorillaz, Lifford David, and Roebeck. His talent also extended to recording and mixing the BBC 1 Idents, broadcast over 100,000 times. In recent years, Matt has continued to work with top UK and international artists, building a reputation for his exceptional sonic skills. He has maintained his excellence through collaborations with Miloco Studios, writing gear reviews for Tape Op magazine, and teaching an 'Advanced Mixing Course' at the London School of Sound. Another magnificent album from the 90s for episode 33 of the Memorabilia Podcast and another 30th Anniversary celebration. Pearl Jam's second LP release arrived on the 19th of October 1993 with much anticipation and didn't fail to deliver. 'Vs.' (pronounced versus) has a very different sound and vibe to their debut album 'Ten', and we look at the lead-up to the recording of the record, provide a track-by-track analysis, and we both rate the album out of ten. We discuss the results of our poll amongst a Pearl Jam fan group, asking which of their albums released in the 90s is their best record, and we select our favourite tracks on the LP. In our look back at what was in the UK singles and album charts at the time of release, there's a real mixed bag featuring Bjork, INXS, Dina Carroll, M People, Meatloaf, Nirvana, The Spin Doctors, Prince, Def Leppard, The Wonderstuff, The Pet Shop Boys, and Go West. There was an equally diverse mix of films in the UK box office top 10, including movies starring Tom Cruise, Patricia Arquette, Harvey Keitel, Sam Neil, Jeff Goldblum, and Harrison Ford. Our Top 3's this week are albums featuring animals in their artwork, including LPs by The Bluetones, Blur, Marc Almond, and The Sultans of Ping F.C. Of course there were tons of them released but except for the likes of Cloverfield & the fifth Saw sequel, I don't recall the world in general going nuts for any of this stuff. Few labels informed my taste in music like Fierce Panda did as a teenager. Without them I'd have never heard Ash, 60ft Dolls, Gorky's Zygotic Mynci, The Bluetones, China Drum, Supergrass, Jimmy Eat World, Hundred Reasons, Coldplay, Art Brut, Embrace, Ultrasound, Kenickie, Bis, Idlewild, Placebo… I could go on… and on… While I can take or leave some of those bands now, as a teenager, all of them, without exception, were acts I cherished with all my indie kid heart. Fierce Panda was, and indeed is, ran by Simon Williams, who as an NME journalist during the period I fell in love with the paper, became something of a hero of mine. He was certainly very kind to me when I first moved to London some 17 years ago, making me cups of tea in the Fierce Panda office and even sorting out a few gigs for my then band Mavis. And so I was devastated to hear that Simon had hit some rough times – regular listeners will know about my own struggles with OCD, and the music industry isn't always the kindest for people with complicated brains. Simon appears to be on the mend and Fierce Panda remains an active concern. He's written a book about it all – the good times and the very, very bad. It's called Pandamonium! How Not to Run a Record Label and it's out now on Nine Eight books. We don't get into the blood and the guts on this episode, not literally, the book exists to tell that story. But I think what follows is an entertaining and insightful conversation with one of British music's most valued men. And if nothing else, the story about 'Wibbling Rivalry' is worth the entry fee. There has been no shortage of amazing guests on The StageLeft Podcast, and this episode is no exception. Goldheart Assembly's James Dale and John Herbert join us to talk about their journey, their songs, and reflections after playing their final and farewell gig in London last month. A gig that saw performances from members of The Bluetones, Starsailor, EMF, and The Magic Numbers. Today they talk about their reasons for splitting, composition techniques, their new projects, and their big break by being the first ever unsigned band on Steve Lamacq's Live Session – sandwiched between Green Day and Elbow – complete with full orchestra. From their meeting at university in rival bands, to playing together at London's Rock Garden, we also hear the final ever performances of King of Rome, Anvil, Harvest in the Snow, Engraver's Daughter, So long St. Christopher, and Into Desperate Arms. Also included: The pivotal moment of meeting Morcheeba's Andy Nunn; ‘…”I'd join your band, if this was a band,”…and he did in the end…' The uniqueness of their sound, songwriting and harmony; ‘…Just tonally, our voices went so well together, it gave us a huge head start...' The reception of their second album, three years in the making; ‘…We had Atlantic Records, Columbia Records, all put offers in for us. We thought that because they loved the early music so much - that if we made better music, wrote a better album, and weren't attached to another record label, then we would sign to Atlantic Records…' The hilarious anecdote about using a 200-ton steam engine for the click track to Jesus Wheel; ‘…I placed about nine mics and two of them got wet, got ruined by the steam. I didn't know what I was doing so I just placed them everywhere…' This entertaining, and honest interview, gives great insight into not only the band, but the inner workings and politics of the music industry, radio stations, and how not to place your microphones beside a 200-ton steam engine…
