Back in January, Verboten was featured on the feed for the popular show Escape This Podcast, and that exposure was amazing, so we want to be able to pay it forward and spotlight an excellent podcast that we think you'll love! Draught Daze is the newest show on the PTE Network, conceived and hosted by my dear friend Jeff "Jeffy Donuts" Bimm. It takes all the fun and faux-competitiveness of a fantasy sports draft and turns it on its head, drafting in categories like nu-metal bands, breakfast cereals, and sitcoms. Teams are scored through the use of randomly-selected predetermined metrics, so coaches aren't sure JUST how their teams will perform until they hit the combine. Enjoy this special two-part episode, featuring Verboten host Jay Borsom, Pub Trivia Experience host Jeremy Goodson, Frenemy Trivia host Tim Dippel, and Geek Trivia host Bryan Nash, first released in March 2023, and follow the feed for more! Chapter 7 of Star Wars: Heir to the Empire (1991) (EU: 9 ABY) by Timothy Zahn. The Story So FarThe New Republic and what is left of the Imperial Forces are at a turning point in their struggle for galactic control. While both sides are struggling economically, the New Republic is having trouble establishing itself politically, and the Imperial Remnants are hunting for opportunities to turn the tide. Captain Pallaeon accompanies Grand Admiral Thrawn, the last surviving Warlord appointed by Emperor Palpatine, to a storehouse of technology they hope will aid their war effort. Along with new cloaking shield technology, they ally themselves with a Dark Jedi clone, Joruus C'Baoth, promising him Leia Organa Solo's unborn twins. During the course of their diplomatic mission and while separated from Luke Skywalker, Leia and Han Solo fall prey to an ambush in the bustling markets of Bimmisaari. Chapter 7Luke frees himself from an ambush in the Bim Tower and races to rescue Leia and Han in the marketplace. Safely aboard the Millennium Falcon, Han makes the jump to lightspeed. It seems that one of the Bims was paid off to lead the protagonists into the trap but have no other information about their assailants. Leia wants to resume negotiations, but Han first wants to rendezvous with tactical support before returning. After pressure from Luke and Han, Leia agrees that she needs to start lightsaber training sooner than later. LinksStar Wars: Heir to the Empire - Part One (fixed!) by DarthAngelus - YouTubeHolodrama | WookieepediaFrank Castle (Marvel Database) is not William Castle (IMDb)Lightyear Theory: "The Movie" Andy Saw That Inspired Him To Want A Buzz Toy Wasn't A Kid's Movie : r/FanTheories Share and SupportShare this episode (cross platform link)Discuss this chapter on Discord, YouTube, or RedditSupport us on PatreonOur WebsiteRelease DocumentTranscriptHosts' ThoughtsLuke: “Let's talk this out.” Also Luke: “There's no particular reason why any of you has to be hurt.”What would a lightsaber do against the spray?I like how clumsiness and chance play into the action“Some sort of bizarre gift wrapping”It's so cool to see Luke being so observant in combat and his precise use of telekinesis“Snap-hiss.” The key onomatopoeia for Luke's lightsaber ignitionWho was operating the Falcon's swivel gun?“I am not a committee.” GIVE LEIA A LIGHTSABERHas Leia exhibited any traits similar to Anakin? The word Bimm has lost all meaningCan C-3P0 duck? Can't believe they were attacked and are expected to just come back downSupport the Show.

Chapter 6 of Star Wars: Heir to the Empire (1991) (EU: 9 ABY) by Timothy Zahn. The Story So FarFive years after the Empire's defeat over Endor in Return of the Jedi (1983), and unbeknownst to the New Republic, Imperial Warlord Grand Admiral Thrawn is taking strides in collecting tools and technology left by the late Emperor to aid in his plan to retake territory from — and ultimately destroy — the New Republic. After a parley with smugglers Talon Karrde and Mara Jade to collect ysalamir, Thrawn weaponises their obscure ability for creating voids in the Force to neutralise Dark Jedi clone Joruus C'baoth and negotiate his allegiance by offering him Leia's unborn twins.  Meanwhile on Coruscant, political infighting seems to be stalling the establishment of structured governance within the Council of the New Republic. Despite personal growing pains, numerous responsibilities, and logistical issues, Han, Leia, and now Luke are assigned a diplomatic mission to Bimmisaari. Luke, it seems, has been requested to join them last minute.Chapter 6Han and Leia travel with Luke  and C-3PO to the planet Bimmisaari on a diplomatic mission to negotiate the terms of the Bimm joining the New Republic. Leaving Chewbacca and R2-D2 on the Millennium Falcon, the four are treated to a brief greeting ceremony. However, before they can arrive at the planetary government, news arrives that the key negotiator for the Bimm has suddenly taken ill.Luke and Han are invited to inspect relics of the Old Republic while Leia is shown around the market, but a suspicious Han decides to join Leia instead. A very Happy International Day of Action For Rivers all around the world! For this occasion, we invited the man who began a global movement of “jogging” and “plocka upp'' that translates in Swedish as ‘picking up (litter)' called Plogging. The plogga mindset offers health benefits from moving our body, being outdoors, and connecting communities with a shared purpose. Moreso, its a fun way for children to “treasure hunt” for trash while learning about plastic pollution. Erik recommends to travel with a purpose, and plogging being a great way to give back to the places we visit. Plogging protects our precious rivers, biodiversity, ecosystems and creates a clean and beautiful environment for us all. We look forward to your feedback, thoughts & don't forget to share, like, comment, subscribe to today's podcast. Erik Ahlström is the founder of plogging that is a combination of “jogging” and “plocka upp'' that translates in Swedish as ‘picking up (litter)'. In this week's episode of the Future Construct Podcast (29 min interview), we are excited to feature Sandra Benson, Global Head of Industry Transformation at Procore Technologies (@procoretech). Sandra brings over 25 years of experience in the building and building technology industry holding a number of executive positions including CIO/VP at Kentz/SNC-Lavalin, Global Industry Director of E&C at J.D. Edwards/Oracle and at Hexagon PPM. She has worked with many global E&C, EPC, and Real Estate companies throughout her career.Procore helps firms drastically increase project efficiency and accountability by streamlining and mobilizing project communications and documentation. This real-time data and accessibility minimizes costly risks and delays—ultimately boosting profits.Using their award-winning suite of project management tools, over a million registered Procore users across the globe manage all types of construction projects including industrial plants, office buildings, apartment complexes, university facilities, retail centers, and more.Highlights of Sandra's interview with host Amy Peck (@AmyPeckXR) include:The focus of the National Institute of Building Sciences right now and how that will evolve over the coming yearsSome of the industry challenges being faced with multi-dimensional technology and how companies can think about that technology todayWhy we aren't seeing more adoption with BIMM in the construction industryThe one product or service that would transform her life over the next 20 to 25 yearsSHOW NOTES0:37  Amy Peck introduces Sandra Benson, Global Head of Industry Transformation at Procore Technologies.03:58  So you touched on something that a lot of people struggle with, which is ethics around their job and role, and what their ultimate goals are.  I'd love to talk about what the focus is of the National Institute of Building Sciences and how that will evolve over the next few years.7:49  And let's talk about that 3D, 4D, 5D, 6D, and how people are challenged with where they sit today. Give maybe a quick discussion of how you define this evolution and how companies can even be thinking about this technology today.11:42  So let's dive a little bit deeper with BIMM. We're already having challenges having BIM really move through that building lifecycle management. It seems like such an obvious choice to be able to have this standard move through your building process and be the source of truth in an as-built environment. So what is the challenge, and why aren't we seeing more adoption?17:58  Now, during our sponsor break, we got a look at your "interesting" water glass, can you show us and share the story behind that?26:15  If you could transport yourself 20, 25 years into the future, and if you could have any product or service that would make your life better or make you personally happy, what would it be and what would it do?

Most people think they know humanity's history of space exploration, from Sputnik to NASA to our recent shift toward privatized space travel. But what if there was a lost history of our origins with space science that would make us rethink the whole narrative? Jodan Bimm is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Chicago The Stevanovich Institute on the Formation of Knowledge and a space historian. Bimm's uncovered a forgotten chapter of space history that paints a much more militaristic picture of our relationship to space, and he sees a direct through line to our present moment. He says we can't conceive a brighter future for space exploration until we reckon with its darker past.

Links: Marian Catholic High School Band Persichetti: Symphony Biography: Greg Bimm has been Director of Bands at Marian Catholic High School since 1977. Under his direction, the Marian Band has grown from 70 to over 280 members, has earned over 600 awards and honors, and has become one of the premier high school band programs in the United States. Mr. Bimm's history with Bands of America dates back to 1981 when the Marian Catholic marching band came to the BOA Summer Workshop/Festival (now the Summer Symposium) to serve as the "lab band." Directors enrolled in the Directors Workshops observed marching teaching theory in practice with the Workshop faculty and the Marian Catholic Band. Since then, the Marian Catholic bands are among the most honored in BOA history. They have participated in 21 consecutive Grand Nationals, numerous Regional Championships and the BOA Summer Nationals held in the 1980s, winning five Summer National titles. The Marian Catholic Symphonic Band was one of only eight bands invited to perform at the first National Concert Band Festival in 1992, held at Northwestern University and has performed again in 1995 and 1998. Mr. Bimm is a member of the 2005 Summer Symposium faculty.
