Watch the full coverage of the live stream on The Emily D Baker YouTube channel: https://youtube.com/live/i7IdKgUQoDUAfter Karen Read was acquitted of the Murder charges on June 18, 2025, Michael Proctor, The Alberts & McCabes attended video interviews.Michael Proctor was Interviewed by 20/20. He addresses his strong negative feelings and derogatory comments about Karen Read, stating they developed as the case progressed, but admits they were regrettable. Proctor denies planting evidence, calling it a ridiculous accusation. He believes the negative perception from the public is a "loud minority" and maintains he would do nothing differently in the investigation, attributing any issues to the "crazy crazy so-called conspiracy" online rather than acknowledging any potential flaws in his own work. There was a lack of remorse from Proctor for potentially tainting the investigation and no apology to Karen Read. He believes he was unfairly fired for personal texts and that his union rep took his uniforms.Brian, Nicole and Chris Albert were interviewed together with Jen and Matt McCabe by ABC's Nightline. Brian Albert's lack of curiosity and inaction given the situation, especially as a Boston police officer, despite not being Canton PD. Brian's response essentially was, "Why would I go out there?" Brian Albert also describes Jen McCabe barging into his room early in the morning but there was no mention in their recounting of the morning about wrangling the dog. Ultimately, the families felt like they were not protect by the judicial process and told the audience to think twice before becoming a witness in a trial. That is not sound advice as there are consequences for not cooperating with a subpoena. There was a lot of frustration with the clipped nature of the interviews and the perceived lack of accountability or self-reflection from the interviewees. The witnesses seem to be focusing on the "straw man" of public conspiracy theories rather than addressing odd behavior or a poor investigation, leading to unanswered questions.RESOURCESThe Alberts & McCabes Interview from ABC Nightline – https://youtu.be/yIrVOSbx9gMDid Proctor Plant Evidence? https://youtu.be/qZDx1lCJFZY Michael Proctor Wouldn't Change Anything - https://youtu.be/oiuKayU6UQoThis podcast uses the following third-party services for analysis: Spotify Ad Analytics - https://www.spotify.com/us/legal/ad-analytics-privacy-policy/Podscribe - https://podscribe.com/privacy

Watch the full coverage of the live stream on The Emily D Baker YouTube channel: https://youtube.com/live/W1usvKtssDoDay 8 of the Karen Read Retrial happened on May 2, 2025. The majority of the day revolved around the continued cross-examination of Jen McCabe by Alan Jackson. Her testimony is described as "incredibly difficult" and "evasive," with her struggling to answer direct questions. I break down what is and isn't a hostile witness since a lot of Law Nerds were wanting to know if it fits this situation.Group text message from Matt McCabe said, "Tell them the guy never came in the house," is highlighted, and Jen McCabe explains that "the guy" refers to John O'Keefe and that the "them" are the news reporters.McCabe is questioned about Google searches, particularly "hos long to die in cold," with discrepancies in her timeline and explanations. The 2:27 AM Google search time is also discussed, and McCabe claims she does not recall doing a search around that time.Jen McCabe was also caught calling her sister, Nicole Albert, the homeowner at 34 Fairview Rd, at 5:07am, after speaking over the phone with John O'Keefe's niece. The call log shows that they spoke for 38 seconds but Jen denies speaking to her. Questions arise about why Jen McCabe did not go inside Brian Albert Sr's house (a first responder with CPR training) for help when John O'Keefe was found, instead making phone calls to her sister, Nicole Albert, after calling 911. Jackson even questioned why she didn't go in the house after finding a John O'Keefe on the lawn because her sister, Nicole, could have been in perils danger and wasn't answering the phone according to Jen. You must check out this episode to this to hear her explanations of this, butt dials, and all of the other discrepancies in her testimony. The Re-Direct Examination, conducted by Special Prosecutor Brennan, focused on humanizing Jen McCabe and addressing claims of collusion among witnesses. In Re-Cross Examination where Alan Jackson brought up the issue of the suspended interview with federal agents. Lastly, testimony of Hannah Knowles from the Massachusetts State Police Crime Laboratory, regarding Karen Read's blood alcohol content (BAC), included the conversion from blood serum and retrograde extrapolation. Cross Examination of this witness will continue on Day 9.RESOURCESWhat You Need to Know About the Retrial - https://youtu.be/89Jpa8vz1RQ Karen Read Retrial Playlist - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsbUyvZas7gKOJlfL__9F027hlETVU-vo Karen Read Trial - 2024 - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsbUyvZas7gKUeCUzApgsEuQRXu5IXeTSThis podcast uses the following third-party services for analysis: Spotify Ad Analytics - https://www.spotify.com/us/legal/ad-analytics-privacy-policy/Podscribe - https://podscribe.com/privacy
Watch the full coverage of the live stream on The Emily D Baker YouTube channel: https://youtube.com/live/tL9-DNEWaLoDay 7 of the Karen Read Retrial happened on April 30, 2025. Jen McCabe is back on the stand with Direct Examination. Special Prosecutor, Hank Brennan, asked her to recount when Karen Read said, "I hit him, I hit him, I hit him." Jen said it was in front of a female EMT and she was shock that Karen would say something like that. Direct Examination end in the morning for Alan Jackson to come in hot for a fiery Cross Examination! Jackson confronted Jen McCabe about not telling the Grand Jury that Karen said that she hit John O'Keefe and in fact she only said "Could I have hit him?" and "Did I hit him?" Jen was very evasive with her answers and even questioned Jackson. Judge Cannone would ask Jackson to move along because he would ask Jen McCabe the same question over and over again. Sometimes it would seem like he was making mountains of mole hills. Other times he would make snarky comments and the Judge would tell him to stop and tell the Jury to dismiss his comments.Jackson pointed out how Jen was corroborating stories with everyone that had been at 34 Fairview Rd the night of the 28th and the morning of the 29th. It began as early as after the Police and First Responders left the scene. Jen even went as far as to ask Julie Nagle for a screenshot of a text message of when her brother, Ryan Nagle, arrived at 34 Fairview Rd to pick her up. Jen did not share that information with Law Enforcement. The biggest discrepancy was that she initially lied to the FBI! The FBI showed up to Jen McCabe's to question her about the case. Jen asked them to wait for 10 mins before speaking with them. The FBI reminded her that it is crime to lie to them and they asked her if she called anyone before they began their conversation. Jen told them that she called her husband, Matt McCabe and her friend, Kerry Roberts. Jen ended the interview early because she felt uncomfortable with the questions they had asked her. Jen later called back the FBI to let them know that she "forgot" that she had also called 3 additional people during those 10 mins: Peggy O'Keefe, The District Attorney Witness Advocate, and Brian Albert Sr. Judge Cannone had another Freudian slip by calling Jen McCabe- Ms. Read. Ouch! There are many highlights of Jen McCabe seemingly being evasive but the biggest thing that didn't add up was her saying that she told Former Trooper Michael Proctor that she told him that she hear Karen Read say, "I hit him." However, that was not in his report. It doesn't make sense that Mr. Proctor didn't include that his report because that would have been perceived as a confession and Karen would have been in hand cuffs much sooner.RESOURCESRetrial Day 6 Case Brief - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DV3yO_X6EpsSherri Papini Case - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVeiHSEo6VMWhat You Need to Know About the Retrial - https://youtu.be/89Jpa8vz1RQ Karen Read Retrial Playlist - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsbUyvZas7gKOJlfL__9F027hlETVU-vo Karen Read Trial - 2024 -

In the latest episode of 'Hidden Killers With Tony Brueski,' former felony prosecutor Eric Faddis delves into the ongoing trial of Karen Read, discussing the intense courtroom dynamics and key testimonies. The episode focuses on the contentious exchanges between defense attorneys and witnesses, particularly Jen McCabe. Faddis highlights how McCabe's testimony has been consistent, but the defense challenges her credibility by suggesting she fabricated parts of her story. A significant point of contention is McCabe's Google search on "how long to die in snow," with the defense arguing it occurred before police involvement, indicating premeditation, while the prosecution maintains it aligns with their timeline. Additionally, Faddis discusses the peculiar nature of John O'Keefe's injuries, which some argue are inconsistent with being hit by a vehicle, suggesting alternative causes. The episode also explores the ambiguity of digital evidence, as Faddis shares his experiences with discrepancies in digital forensics. The conversation touches on a group text by Matt McCabe that the defense interprets as an attempt to align stories, while the prosecution views it as clarifying the timeline. Faddis emphasizes that the prosecution might have overcharged by asserting intentional killing, suggesting it could have been a tragic accident instead. **Main Points:** - Intense courtroom exchanges, especially between defense and witness Jen McCabe. - Defense challenges McCabe's credibility, suggesting fabrication. - Controversy over McCabe's Google search on "how long to die in snow." - Inconsistencies in John O'Keefe's injuries, suggesting alternative causes. - Ambiguity and potential errors in digital evidence. - Group text by Matt McCabe interpreted differently by defense and prosecution. - Discussion on whether the prosecution overcharged by claiming intentional killing. #HiddenKillers #TonyBrueski #EricFaddis #KarenRead #JohnOKeefe #JenMcCabe #DigitalForensics Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? In the podcast episode "Hidden Killers With Tony Brueski," retired FBI Special Agent Robin Dreeke analyzes the testimonies and text exchanges presented in the trial involving John O'Keefe. Dreeke focuses on the testimony of Matt McCabe, who was cross-examined about his text messages on the night of the incident. McCabe's texts were scrutinized, suggesting he was coordinating stories among the group to ensure consistency in their accounts, specifically about John O'Keefe not entering the house. Dreeke critiques McCabe's handling of the situation, labeling it as a rookie mistake, especially for someone in law enforcement. He emphasizes that the optics of such communication could easily be misconstrued as a cover-up rather than an attempt to piece together fragmented memories of the event. The conversation explores the challenges in interpreting intentions and memories in high-stakes situations and how these can appear misleading when scrutinized in a legal context. Dreeke ultimately believes the incident was a tragic accident rather than a deliberate act, and he questions the effectiveness of both the prosecution and defense strategies in addressing the core issue of the case. Main Points - Matt McCabe's text messages on the night of the incident are examined, suggesting coordination of stories among the group. - Robin Dreeke criticizes McCabe's decision to send text messages, calling it a rookie mistake given his law enforcement background. - Dreeke discusses the importance of optics and how McCabe's actions could be interpreted as a cover-up. - The conversation delves into the difficulties of recalling and piecing together fragmented memories in stressful situations. - Dreeke views the incident as a tragic accident, not a premeditated act, and expresses dissatisfaction with the legal strategies employed by both the prosecution and defense. - The discussion highlights the difference between the actual events and how they are presented and perceived in court. - Dreeke emphasizes that the testimonies and actions suggest a genuine attempt to recall facts rather than fabricate a story. #HiddenKillers #TonyBrueski #RobinDreeke #JohnOKeefe #MattMcCabe #TrialAnalysis #LawEnforcementMistakes Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? Colin Albert took the stand in the ongoing investigation into John O'Keefe's death, recounting his presence at his cousin Brian Albert Jr.'s birthday party at 34 Fairview. Despite assertions from other witnesses, Albert stated he was not overly intoxicated. "No," he responded when asked if he was drunk, and added, "I didn't see anyone from another group or older coming into the house before I left." ADA Lally displayed a picture of Albert taken a few weeks after O'Keefe's death, providing the jury with a visual reference. **Emotional Testimony from Alli McCabe** Alli McCabe, daughter of Jen and Matt McCabe and Brian Albert's niece, gave an emotional testimony. She was excused after describing the harassment her family endured. McCabe revealed that the state police never requested to image her phone, affirming she didn't alter the timestamps on her texts with Colin Albert. "I don't remember," she said when asked if state police asked to look at her phone. The prosecution presented a photo of Colin Albert to the jury for the first time. McCabe's testimony continued with questions about text exchanges with Albert regarding picking him up at 34 Fairview, leading to objections from the defense. Ryan Nagel, who arrived at 34 Fairview to pick up his sister, testified that he did not see the SUV reverse and hit a pedestrian. "No," he answered when asked by ADA Lally. Nagel described the scene, "I observed there was a person inside the car, there was an interior light on and a woman in the driver's seat." **Forensic Testimony Highlights DNA Findings** Teri Kun, a veterinary scientist at UC Davis, provided crucial forensic evidence. She confirmed the absence of K9 DNA on the swabs tested, only detecting pig DNA, which she noted could have come from food. "We did not see any K9 DNA," Kun stated, adding that the pig DNA could have been from food sources. These testimonies and pieces of evidence are pivotal as the investigation continues to unravel the circumstances surrounding John O'Keefe's death. The court proceedings shed light on various aspects, from witness observations to forensic findings, aiming to piece together the events of that fateful night at 34 Fairview. The world of science is a fascinating landscape of atomic particles, chemical elements, living, breathing organisms and everything in between. It is the smallest of quarks and the largest of galaxies. It is the whirring, buzzing laboratory of engineering, the hissing, bubbling test tube of chemistry, the molten hot, high pressure environment of geology, and the beating heart of medicine. Science has been both a tool and a measurement of progression since humanity’s conception, but in its complicated domain, sometimes a poser appears with a scientific mask on; it is pseudoscience. Join us as we discuss a scientific concept, discovery or phenomenon, then we’ll take a dive into the complex and misleading world of pseudoscience to sort the factual from the fabricated. Should you use essential oils to treat your medical conditions? Can you land a helicopter that’s lost engine power? What can a particle accelerator be used for? Should you visit a chiropractor next time you get back pain? Can Tarot cards reveal your future? How long can humans survive in space? Find the answers to these questions and more by tuning into IdioFacto with Matt McCabe and Levi Bateman.
