Using AI and UX design to pave the way towards the future of imaging automation

Healthcare Perspectives

Across the globe, radiology departments are grappling with a paradox: imaging volumes are climbing while the trained workforce needed to operate scanners is shrinking. Using AI-driven tools, a drive towards fully-automated radiology promises faster diagnoses, greater diagnostic accuracy, and more efficient workflows, improving both the patient and clinician experience. It is rapidly transforming the way medical imaging is performed, analyzed, and integrated into imaging workflows. The success of this development relies strongly on intuitive and impactful user experience, or UX, design. Effective UX is integral to ensuring that patients and clinicians can use smart healthcare systems in ways that maintain safety and integrity and enhance user experience. The question is no longer whether higher levels of automation will play a role in radiology — it's how quickly, and where to begin.Today, host Iwona Markuszewska welcomes Dr. Shivakumar Swamy S, Head and Director of the Radiology Department and Clinical Director of the Department of Radiomics and Radiogenomics at HCG Cancer care in Bangalore, India; Dr. Yair Safriel, Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer at Pharmascan and MEC Chair of Radiology at Morton Plant Hospital Association in Clearwater, Florida; and Ralf Bauer, radiologist and partner at RNS joint practice in Wiesbaden, Germany, to examine the future of automation in radiology. What you'll learn in this episode: Rising imaging demand, an aging population, and lack of trained technologists have pushed the radiology system to its breaking pointHow higher levels of automation can ease this challenge and which types of exams may be the easiest entry point to introducing higher levels of automation in imaging operationsAutomation starts way before image acquisition and can be implemented easily as early as in the patient check-in processPatient trust and ease of use are of utmost importance for any automation in radiology is to be widely implemented Automation will make it easier for healthcare professionals to spend more time with patients and with more complex, time-intensive cases Connect with Iwona MarkuszewskaLinkedInDr. Shivakumar Swamy S LinkedInDr. Yair Safriel LinkedIn Dr. Ralf BauerLinkedIn Hosted on Acast. Ennis Inner Relief Road Could Pave The Way For "Hundreds" Of New Homes

The construction of a long-awaited inner relief road in Ennis is expected to pave the way for "hundreds" of new homes. Clare County Council has confirmed that the proposed route connecting the Tulla Road and Gort Road remains on the agenda and is intended to be delivered within the next decade. A 520-metre stretch of the planned Ennis Northern Inner Relief Road link in the townland of Dulick was unveiled in May 2018. The road, which connects the Gort Road to the Ennis Information Age Park Building and the Clare Technology Park, was intended to be the first phase of the overall plan to build a link to the Tulla Road. Eight years on, the county town is no closer to seeing this project come to fruition, prompting Fianna Fáil councillors Clare Colleran-Molloy, Tom O'Callaghan and Antoinette Baker-Bashua to seek an update at this week's Clare County Council meeting. The local authority has stated that the project is included in the completed Local Transport Plan as well as the upcoming proposed variation to the County Development Plan. Councillor O'Callaghan says this means it's guaranteed to get funding. The council estimates that the overall project delivery time "with favourable timely decisions" would be "of the order of five to eight years". It's also revealed that it's considering a phased delivery with the section north of 'The Maples' towards 'Clauin Ros Leamháin' progressed as the first phase, followed by the section to the west including the railway crossing. This first phase, it says, could be completed in three to five years, while the overall scheme would cost 10 to 15 million euro "at current market rates". The progression of the project would give access to 7.5 hectares of zoned residential lands, which could result in the construction of roughly 260 homes. Councillor Baker-Bashua says it's a crucial development for this reason alone.

The agreement brought an end to 52 years of war, but today, eight years after the agreement was ratified, Colombia is still not at peace. In this episode, Dr Nafees Hamid and Dr Andrés Casas discuss the motivations of guerilla group members in Colombia, public attitudes towards the 2016 peace agreement, and how behavioural science can facilitate peacebuilding efforts. This research is being undertaken as part of a project called XCEPT, which is funded by UK International Development from the UK government; however, the views expressed do not necessarily reflect the UK government's official policies. XCEPT aims to understand the drivers of violent and peaceful behaviour in conflict-affected populations – and to find solutions that support peace. Find out more about XCEPT at xcept-research.org.

Daily Emunah Podcast - Daily Emunah By Rabbi David Ashear

A man recently shared with me the difficulties he has been experiencing. In his words, "It's just one thing after another. I'm trying to be good, but Hashem keeps pushing me down. I'm losing my will to want to improve." Many people feel that if they are experiencing hardship, it must be Hashem telling them that they aren't good. But this is simply not true. Right now, we are reading the parshiyot about the struggles of Yaakov Avinu and Yosef Hatzaddik. These two were among the greatest people who ever lived, yet their lives were filled with extraordinary challenges. Yosef was hated by his brothers, thrown into a pit with snakes and scorpions, sold into slavery in Mitzrayim, falsely accused and imprisoned, and separated from his father for 22 years. Yaakov, too, endured difficulty after difficulty. When he finally sought tranquility, the most devastating trial of all struck—he was made to believe that Yosef had been killed. Worse still, it was he who had sent Yosef out on that fateful day. It was precisely because Yaakov and Yosef endured such immense suffering that they became two of the greatest people who ever lived. This world is a world of toil, and it is our ability to persevere with emunah and to fulfill the ratzon Hashem under duress that elevates us to unimaginable heights. We cannot fathom how much we accomplish by persevering through the challenges Hashem sends us. Because of Yosef's experiences, he became Yosef Hatzaddik, and in his merit, the entire nation was able to cross the Yam Suf—one of the greatest miracles in history. The pasuk says: " יעקב אשר פדה את אברהם ". Rashi, in Masechet Sanhedrin, explains that Avraham was supposed to endure the difficulties in raising children that Yaakov faced. However, Yaakov's neshama accepted the nisayon instead, redeeming Avraham from that challenge. Additionally, Hashem told Avraham that his descendants would be slaves in a foreign land for 400 years. In the end, they were enslaved in Mitzrayim for only 210 years because Hashem began the calculation from the birth of Yitzchak. This means that the difficulties endured by Yitzchak and Yaakov spared millions of their descendants from suffering in Mitzrayim. They bore the brunt of the slavery themselves and will be rewarded for all eternity for the salvation they brought to their children. When Yaakov finally settled in Mitzrayim, his hardships ceased because the actual years of slavery had officially begun, and there was no longer a need for him to carry that burden. No hardship is ever in vain. Hashem is always orchestrating events to enable us to achieve the fullest potential of our lives. Yaakov's image was ultimately etched on the Kiseh Hakavod, symbolizing the pinnacle of human achievement in this world. Hashem always has the past, present, and future in front of Him at all times. While Yaakov mourned the loss of his son, Hashem was simultaneously envisioning the joyous reunion they would one day have. While Yosef was languishing in prison, Hashem was already seeing the moment he would be rushed out to become the leader of Mitzrayim. When we face difficult times, we must remember that there are glorious days ahead. Everything is designed to help us become great. Turning away from Hashem is never the answer. Instead, by drawing closer to Hashem and facing our trials with emunah, we elevate ourselves and pave the way to that glory. No one should ever think that their troubles mean Hashem is pushing them away. On the contrary, it is Hashem calling upon them to rise and become among the greatest people who ever lived.

You may want to pay attention to what goes into your body, including where the foods and beverages you consume are grown and raised.  This is one of the things that Ecologist Mark J. Easter discussed on the show and in his newly published book, "The Blue Plate: A Food Lover's Guide to Climate Chaos."  The impact that microbes have, whether negative or positive, on Earth's environment can change based on actions we take.  In his book, he combines his years of research and experience in his field and focuses his attention on what fuels Earth's carbon emissions crisis, and how we can help reverse the cycle through our consumption of food.  He breaks down each chapter like a plate of food while attending a dinner party, combining his scientific knowledge with personal history and stories.  If nothing else, it may change your mind and view on where you buy, eat, and discard your meals and perhaps inspire you after reading Mark's book, "The Blue Plate."(https://www.patagonia.com/product/the-blue-plate-a-food-lovers-guide-to-climate-chaos/)There is clearly a significant theme for this week's show, and what better way is there to highlight regenerative and sustainable farms than focus on an author who is aiming to heal the Earth through what we grow and eat, as well as spotlighting a group that are looking for the most nutrient-dense, organic  agricultural and farms. So, stay tuned to hear from Matt Kirchner, one of the Co-Owners for Local Bound Collective (LBC).  LBC consists of like-minded individuals who wanted to organize a way for organic and sustainably-focused farmers to offer their produce, meats, and products to be available for restaurants, grocery stores, and markets in one place! Matt has worked on farms and inside local grocer chains, and saw a need to advocate for organic farmers who offer bountiful produce, meats, and cheeses so they can help connect restaurants & stores to their local farms.  Their initiative also helps to reduce food waste: It aids in providing farm-fresh products for consumers to purchase at local stores, with an eye on the details of the business' needs. IG:    https://www.instagram.com/localbound.pa/Web: https://philly-hub.localline.ca/shop  I also popped on to highlight some of Food Farms And Chefs Radio Show guests who focus on maintaining and supporting the farm-to-table, regenerative, organic, and sustainable agriculture & livestock practices.  Later, I also dropped some information on some of the places that I've recently found during my driving adventures, which includes restaurants and fast-casual eateries & bakeries in NY, NJ, and DE.  So listen to the last short segment in case you want to visit some of the spots that I've been to!

The WWE continues to grow to new heights as one of the biggest attractions in sports and entertainment, and this weekend, Philadelphia plays host to Pro Wrestling's Super Bowl as Wrestlemania takes over on April 6 & 7 and will be their grandest stage yet. Extending the event from one night to 48 hours with a WWE roster of superstars and storylines, two of the biggest names in the sport are sitting down with Ryan, Channing and Fred to share their unlikely journey to the top of wrestling and how it has shaped their lives in and outside of the ring from being apart of one of the fastest growing movements in the world to the battles they've overcome to be successful.  Bianca Belair and Montez Ford, the WWE superstar couple, talk about wrestling, their relationship on “Love & WWE”, finding the person they love while doing what they love and their storied journeys into their individual careers. Both former champions, Bianca and Montez have proven they have what it takes to succeed in wrestling and share how they have paved the way for other black men and women to have similar success and open up about how the spotlight away from the ring has affected their careers and personal lives.  Bianca opens up about how her highly competitive track career in highschool and college led to a battle with her diet, body image and eventual depression. The mental struggles mixed with her unhealthy relationship with food created a scenario where she was unable to perform at her best despite her insane amount of athleticism and talent. Afraid of failure, Biancaa leaned on her family and went back home to reset her life and eventually pivoted into a new endeavor, joining the WWE. For Montez, it was a different path, as wrestling was always a passion of his, and when he lost his older sister to a car accident in 2000, wrestling became a true escape and a way of life. Overcoming his own setbacks, Tez discusses how he was too skinny compared to other men in the sport when first trying out but it was his family's motivation and philosophy to always max out in anything they do that motivated him to keep going.  The two's success opened doors for young men and women who not only looked like them to believe they can have success but all young people to believe that not all journeys are direct paths to the top. With Bianca being the longest reigning RAW world champion during her meteoric rise and Montez winning three different championships as a member of the Tag Team Street Profits alongside Angelo Dawkins, the couple has put on for not only themselves and their families but the black community too. Captivating fans worldwide with their skill and contagious personalities, their on screen love and support for one another has elevated the two into a different level of stardom.  Fred and Ryan can't help but ask the obvious question about the scripted reputation of WWE and ask how Tez and Bianca explain what they do to others and how they deal with their constantly changing storylines while keeping from one another too. Setting the record straight that WWE is non-scripted at its core and what happens from week to week is unknown to them as they go in-depth about how grueling the schedule is, how tiring the performing can be from high-octane jumps to painful moves on the ground, the sport is difficult on the body and mind. With Wrestlemania on the horizon, the two talk about the title fights they are supposed to have but how even being a few days away from being on the biggest stage in wrestling, the two don't quite know what's in store match wise for them.  Their chaotic lifestyle of the WWE is transparently shown in their new Hulu series, as the two figure out what fits their careers while making big decisions about having a family and what's next. Bianca's Kiss of Death and Montez's Frog Splash are two of the best finishing moves in the WWE, but this couple's story is very far from over.  Learn more about your ad choices.
