The shocking courtroom finale: Dr. Phil dissects Alec Murdaugh's trial, lies, and life sentence, the collapse of a dynasty built on power, privilege, and deception. In the final episode of The Murdaugh Murders: Inside a Deadly Dynasty, Dr. Phil unpacks the high-stakes trial that ended a century-old reign of influence in South Carolina's Lowcountry. From the haunting autopsy testimony that exposed the horror of Maggie and Paul's final moments to Alec Murdaugh's desperate courtroom performance and guilty verdict, this episode explores what drives a family annihilator, how addiction and arrogance intertwine, and why even dynasties can't outrun the truth. Dr. Phil breaks down the psychology, the manipulation, and the reckoning that followed. Justice was delivered but the questions still linger. Hulu's Murdaugh: Death in the Family promised a gripping retelling of the Lowcountry's most disturbing crime saga—and it delivered drama. But how much of it is grounded in the ugly, sprawling truth? In this episode, we compare the streaming series to the real events behind Alex Murdaugh's meteoric fall—from murder and financial fraud to the implosion of a legal dynasty that ruled South Carolina for nearly a century. We dissect what the show nailed—from the 911 call and cell phone video to the boat crash and Gloria Satterfield's death—and where it pulled punches. What's missing is just as important: the cover-ups, the privilege, and the decades-long abuse of power that made it all possible. The dramatization touches on the chaos, but the real story is darker, more calculated, and far more disturbing. This isn't just about a man who murdered his wife and son. It's about a system that let him steal, lie, and manipulate for years without consequence. Watch this before you believe the screen version is the full story. Because what Hulu left out? That's where the real horror lives. #MurdaughMurders #HuluSeries #DeathInTheFamily #AlexMurdaugh #TrueCrimeComparison #FactVsFiction #TrueCrimeTV #MurdaughTrial #HiddenKillers #TrueCrimeBreakdown Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? On the pod today, Julia Willoughby Nason and Michael Gasparro return to discuss their latest for Netflix, American Murder: Gabby Petito. Mike previously had Julia and Michael on to talk about Murdaugh Murders, and like that effort, this series both fulfills the expectations of the true crime genre, while finding deeper themes to explore. While in Murdaugh Murders, Julia and Michael turned their lens on the socioeconomic fissures in the heart of a Southern county, here, in telling the story of Gabby Peitio–a young woman who was killed by her fiance Brian Laundie, who later killed himself–Julia and Michael both explore how a seemingly normal relationship between young people can go terribly wrong. And they do so while depicting how this relationship–as well as others Gabby had with friends and family–are intermediated by social media and influencer culture. Investigative journalists — Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell — broke major news this past Tuesday with the announcement that Myrtle Beach pastor JP Miller has been accused of raping a 15-year-old girl at his father's church, Cathedral Baptist Church (formerly All Nations Church), in 1998 and again sexually assaulting her in 2023. The lawsuit was filed by Jane Doe No. 1 against John-Paul Miller, Reginald Wayne Miller, and their churches, including Solid Rock Ministries. Mandy and Liz share details of the lawsuit while connecting the dots on what was happening in JP's life at the time. Plus, they sit for an interview with Rock Hill attorney Randy Hood of McGowan, Hood, Felder and Phillips law firm, who is representing Jane, to learn more about Jane's case and what the world of litigating institutional child sexual abuse looks like. Hood is no stranger to suing churches on behalf of sexual assault victims. He also represents clients in the case against Morningstar Fellowship Church in Fort Mill, South Carolina. On Tuesday, Mandy and Liz also broke the very important news that attorney Mark Tinsley from the Murdaugh Murders trial — aka Zero Dark Tinsley and Tiger Tinsley — is also representing Jane in her case against the Millers. Also on the show, JP Miller appeared in Magistrate Court on Wednesday for a hearing related to seven of his cases against protesters and … well, he did a terrible job, as expected… The premium extended episode includes a play-by-play featuring the most pertinent highlights. Special thanks to Ben from Artistic Eye Productions based in Summerville, SC for covering the Magistrate Court Proceedings Let's dive in...

The latest development in Alex Murdaugh's legal saga involves the South Carolina Supreme Court agreeing to review his appeal for a new murder trial. Murdaugh's defense team has alleged that the jury in his original trial was tampered with by Colleton County Clerk of Court Becky Hill. They claim that Hill improperly influenced the jury, potentially compromising the fairness of the trial. This appeal comes after a lower court denied Murdaugh's request for a new trial earlier this year, despite these serious allegations. The South Carolina Supreme Court's decision to take up this case is significant as it bypasses the Court of Appeals, highlighting the case's importance and public interest. The appeal will examine whether the alleged jury tampering was severe enough to warrant a new trial. Meanwhile, Murdaugh's broader appeal of his murder convictions continues to move forward, though his defense team requested a delay until the Supreme Court's ruling on the tampering issue is made. This request was denied, meaning the appeal will proceed as scheduled..The outcome of this Supreme Court review could have major implications, either reaffirming Murdaugh's convictions or potentially opening the door to a new trial.(commercial at 7:24)to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Major twist in Alex Murdaugh case as South Carolina Supreme Court makes bombshell ruling on murderer's appeal | Daily Mail OnlineBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-epstein-chronicles--5003294/support.

Laura interviews award winning journalist and creator and host of the True Sunlight and Cup of Justice podcasts, Mandy Matney. Following on from her incredible groundbreaking reporting of the Murdaugh Murders, Mandy has been investigating Mica's untimely and troubling death. Laura and Mandy unravel the events leading up to 30-year-old Mica being found dead from a gunshot wound to the head in North Carolina's Lumber River State Park on April 27 2024. Mica's death came days after she told a police officer she was ‘scared for her life' after she found a GPS tracker on her car and a razor blade on her tyre. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Listen as Laura and Mandy discuss the disturbing behaviours that have been uncovered and the coercive control red flags that could have saved Mica. It's FOIA around and find out time again on True Sunlight Podcast! True Sunlight Co-hosts Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell unpack the latest round of records reporter Beth Braden received from Colleton County Clerk of Court Becky Hill's emails. In the stack of documents, Beth found memos from SLED outlining interviews with Alex Murdaugh's siblings after Alex was finally charged with Maggie's and Paul's murders in the summer of 2022. Turns out there was a bloody towel found in the house the morning after the murders that no one knew about. Sorry, no one other than Lynn Murdaugh, Alex's older sister. I know, right? Also on today's show, Mandy and Liz do a deeper dive on a piece of evidence in the Stephen Smith case — his little yellow car that was found on the side of the road. Plus an update on Peter J. Strauss, the suspended attorney we told you about in Season 2, Episode 29, who might hold answers to the big question: Did Alex money stash money off-shore? Alex Murdaugh's bid for a retrial falls short as Justice Jean Toal rules Becky Hill's likely improper contact with jurors didn't rise to the level of prejudicial jury tampering. Alex Murdaugh's defense team entered the ring throwing haymakers in a pre-hearing status conference on January 16th, hoping to bludgeon open a clear path to a retrial in Murdaugh's murder case. But retired South Carolina Supreme Court Chief Justice Jean Toal, the newly appointed judge on the case, parried and rebuffed Murdaugh's ambitious volleys in stunning and decisive fashion. Now Murdaugh's opening to land the decisive blow against his dual murder convictions and life sentence appears vanishingly small.Join Anne Emerson, Charlie Condon and Drew Tripp as they recap the important day in court and preview Murdaugh's upcoming evidentiary hearing on the controversial jury tampering allegations.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
The Murdaugh Murders, Money & Mystery | Unsolved South Carolina
Did Colleton County Clerk of Court Becky Hill have improper communications with jurors during Alex Murdaugh's murder trial? If so, did she create bias or prejudice among jurors potentially influencing their verdict and warranting a retrial? Those are the two primary questions needing answers when state prosecutors and Murdaugh's defense lawyers meet in court January 29 in a pivotal hearing to decide if Murdaugh's dual convictions for the murders of his wife and son were fair and will stand.Murdaugh's defense lawyers in a brief filed ahead of the hearing adamantly argue the answer to both questions is “Yes,” while the team of prosecutors for the S.C. Attorney General's Office argue they still feel Murdaugh shouldn't even be getting a hearing.Join Anne Emerson, Charlie Condon and Drew Tripp as they break down the legal battles taking shape.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
After examining exclusive documents and videos from the early days of SLED's case, True Sunlight Co-hosts Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell are wondering if there's more to what happened after Maggie and Paul were killed”? As we watched certain videos appear on a November 2023 episode of Dateline, our reporter Beth Braden got right on that and FOIA'd for them. These videos are important because as much as the bad guys want us to move on from this investigation… There are a lot of unanswered questions about what happened in the immediate hours following Maggie and Paul Murdaugh's murders. We will be posting the full videos – and access to all reports we received in the FOIA request – to the Luna Shark Premium feed on January 4th for Soak Up the Sun members only and we'll publish to all members later on. The videos provide unmatched insight into the Murdaugh's mysterious world and who these people really are – in the same way the jailhouse phone calls gave us a deeper understanding of the players involved and the games Alex plays with them. And we're breaking it all down here on the first episode of 2024. We plan to continue to grow Luna Shark Media through Membership because we believe in the future of journalism and the more members who join the more journalists we can hire to dig into new cases around the country where crime meets corruption. This year we have exciting plans for premium featuring fresh and exclusive content and access to our growing live event schedule. The second installment of Alexis and Jac's two part episode covering the Murdaugh Murders, featuring interviews with Mandy Matney and Carolyn Murnick, authors of “Blood on Their Hands.”
I finally look into what all the hype about the Murdaugh family murders is about. And the hype... is justified. I provide a summary of the Murdaugh's history of power and influence in South Carolina's Low Country and how a series of financial crimes and murders led to the collapse of their corrupt rural empire. Alec Murdaugh is a TERRIBLE human being... and I'm so glad that snake will rot in prison for the rest of his life. The former South Carolina state prosecutor, who comes from a line of prominent attorneys, has been at the center of multiple investigations going back to February of 2019. With what originally appeared as a possible targeted hit on a local lawyers family, quickly spiraled into the twisting case that's come to be dubbed “The Murdaugh Murders”. With bodies piling up, and millions of dollars going “missing” over the years, the family that was once held in the highest regards, has now turned into a shining example of how to quickly fall from grace.
