The South Carolina Supreme Court stripped away twelve and a half hours of financial crimes testimony. What fills that gap at retrial may depend on the kind of evidence that didn't get its full day in court the first time — and Blanca Turrubiate-Simpson has had three years to sit with what she saw versus what prosecutors actually asked her about. She testified for three hours in 2023. The jury heard about the shirt, the towel, the pajamas. But Blanca knew that household in a way no investigator could replicate. Which cabinets Maggie used. Where the towels went. What the morning routine looked like. When she walked into the house twelve hours after the murders, she saw things that didn't fit — small domestic details a forensic team would walk past but a woman who'd been there every day for twenty years would catch immediately. In this exclusive, Blanca reveals what she noticed that nobody asked about on the stand. She walks through the morning after — Alex's phone call, the condition of the house, the things that were moved, cleaned, or wrong — and draws the line between grief and scene management. She confronts the moment Alex returned months later to rewrite the shirt story. And she addresses what a jury loses now that Moselle has been sold and broken apart — what her memory of that property can give a second jury that photographs alone cannot.Blanca also presents her own theory of the crime — and it directly challenges the defense team's "other suspects" strategy. She believes Alex had a Plan A involving someone else at Moselle that night. When that plan collapsed, he executed Plan B himself and constructed a narrative around the boat crash families. Her basis isn't speculation. It's twenty years of watching Alex Murdaugh operate — how he moved money through other people's hands, how he used relationships as cover, how Curtis Eddie Smith cashed four hundred thirty-seven checks totaling roughly $2.4 million. Alex built an infrastructure of people who did things for him. If he never operated alone in any other part of his life, Blanca asks, why would the murders be the one exception?Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? The South Carolina Supreme Court's unanimous reversal of Alex Murdaugh's murder convictions reset the legal record — and with it, the evidentiary question that a second jury will have to answer without twelve hours of financial crimes testimony supporting the prosecution's narrative. Retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer approaches that question as a clean-slate exercise: strip the name from the file and evaluate what the physical evidence actually supports. Two victims were shot at the dog kennels on a remote hunting property. Two distinct firearms were used — a shotgun and a rifle. Neither weapon has been recovered. No blood was found on the defendant. The defense has consistently argued that no single shooter could have executed the crime as the state described it. Paul Murdaugh's prior legal entanglements — including a boating incident that resulted in a young woman's death — generated a documented set of unresolved grievances that investigators never fully pursued. Coffindaffer evaluates the two-weapon theory, examines where the physical scene points absent the financial motive framework, and assesses whether the prosecution's case survives substantive scrutiny under the evidentiary limitations the Supreme Court has imposed for retrial. The human dimension of the reversal is addressed through an exclusive interview with Blanca Turrubiate-Simpson — the Murdaugh family's housekeeper of twenty years and a key prosecution witness at the original trial. Simpson's testimony included her recollection of the shirt Alex Murdaugh wore the morning of June 7th, 2021, a wet towel found by the shower the following day, and her observations of Maggie Murdaugh's emotional state as Alex's financial situation deteriorated. The jury that heard her testimony convicted in under three hours.Upon learning of the Supreme Court's reversal, Simpson drove directly to Maggie Murdaugh's gravesite. In her first interview since the ruling, she addresses whether she remains the same witness she was in 2023, what Becky Hill's conduct cost the people closest to the case, and whether three years of reflection have altered what she is prepared to testify to at a second trial. The retrial's outcome may depend significantly on whether witnesses like Simpson present more forcefully under fair conditions than they did under compromised ones.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? different things.Alex Murdaugh's attorneys told national television they have new information about other potential suspects. They're building a retrial strategy that points the finger away from Alex. Meanwhile, the woman who spent twenty years inside that household has her own theory about other people being involved — and it points directly back at him.Blanca believes Alex had a Plan A. Someone else was supposed to be at Moselle the night of June 7th, 2021. When that didn't materialize, Alex shifted to Plan B and carried it out himself. She's pointed to specific individuals she believes may have been part of the original design. And she's grounded that theory in something the defense can't match: two decades of watching Alex Murdaugh recruit, manipulate, and use the people around him. This isn't abstract. Alex built an entire financial empire on getting other people to move money, sign checks, and look the other way. Curtis Eddie Smith alone was on the receiving end of four hundred thirty-seven checks worth roughly two point four million dollars. The infrastructure for outsourcing risk was Alex's signature move. The question Blanca is asking is whether that pattern suddenly stopped on the one night when the stakes were highest. In this interview, Blanca lays out her theory, confronts the defense strategy, and talks about who was in Alex's orbit in the months before the murders — and whose presence didn't add up.Part 3 of a three-part Hidden Killers exclusive.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? OnJune 7, 2021, Alex Murdaugh murdered his wife Maggie and his son Paul at the family's Moselle hunting lodge in Colleton County, South Carolina. In 2023, a jury convicted him of that crime. The state introduced evidence of Murdaugh's many financial crimes at the trial. After overturning Murdaugh's conviction based on jury tampering concerns, the South Carolina Supreme Court also weighed in on the trial court's decision to allow the jury to hear evidence of Murdaugh's financial crimes.Check out our upcoming book events and get links to buy tickets here: https://murdersheetpodcast.com/eventsPre-order our book on Delphi here: https://bookshop.org/p/books/shadow-of-the-bridge-the-delphi-murders-and-the-dark-side-of-the-american-heartland-aine-cain/21866881?ean=9781639369232Or here: https://www.simonandschuster.com/books/Shadow-of-the-Bridge/Aine-Cain/9781639369232Or here: https://www.amazon.com/Shadow-Bridge-Murders-American-Heartland/dp/1639369236Join our Patreon here! https://www.patreon.com/c/murdersheetSupport The Murder Sheet by buying a t-shirt here: https://www.murdersheetshop.com/Check out more inclusive sizing and t-shirt and merchandising options here: https://themurdersheet.dashery.com/Send tips to murdersheet@gmail.com.The Murder Sheet is a production of Mystery Sheet LLC.This message is sponsored by Greenlight. It's always scary when somebody tries to scam your family. Becky Hill didn't just make careless comments to Murdaugh's jury — the Supreme Court found she fabricated evidence to remove a juror she believed favored the defense. But was she the only one pulling strings?I've been digging into the financial trail and the network of connections that surrounded this verdict, and the lone-wolf explanation is getting harder to defend. Hill was planning a book deal before the trial started. A colleague testified Hill said a guilty verdict would sell more copies. The anonymous email that triggered the removal of the jury's apparent holdout allegedly came from someone connected to the Murdaugh Murders podcast network and a trial attorney with a financial stake in the outcome. The Facebook post cited as grounds for the removal was, according to a sworn affidavit from the man supposedly behind it, completely fabricated. And here's what keeps nagging at me: investigators said there wasn't enough evidence to charge Hill with tampering. Five months later, the Supreme Court said there was enough to overturn the conviction entirely. Either the investigation missed what five justices found obvious, or it was never designed to look past Hill. The sealed files could answer that. But every attempt to unseal them has been blocked — until now. A new motion and a federal lawsuit with subpoena power are about to force the question into the open.Links:Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Myra Crosby sat through six weeks of testimony. The judge praised her as an excellent juror. She was undecided. And on the morning deliberations were set to begin, she was removed based on allegations that now appear to have been fabricated. Three years later, the Supreme Court confirmed what Crosby has been saying all along: Becky Hill misrepresented information to the court to get her off the panel. But this episode goes deeper than Hill. I follow the anonymous email that triggered Crosby's removal to its alleged source — someone reportedly connected to the Murdaugh Murders podcast network and attorney Mark Tinsley, who had a direct financial stake in a guilty verdict through the boat crash litigation. I examine the financial timeline showing Hill was planning her book and telling colleagues a conviction would boost sales before the trial even started. And I break down the central contradiction at the heart of this case: a state investigation that found insufficient evidence for tampering charges, followed by a Supreme Court that looked at the same record and overturned the conviction. The sealed files from that investigation — still hidden despite the conviction being thrown out — could reveal whether Hill was operating alone or whether Crosby's removal was part of a coordinated effort. A new motion to unseal them was just filed, and the defense's federal lawsuit gives them tools to dig deeper than anyone has before.Links:Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Alex Murdaugh's second murder trial is already shaping up to be dramatically different from the first, after the South Carolina Supreme Court overturned his convictions in the killings of his wife, Maggie, and son, Paul, because of improper conduct by former Colleton County Clerk of Court Becky Hill. Prosecutors are now treating the retrial as a reset, with South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson saying all legal options are back on the table, including the death penalty, which was not pursued during the original trial. Murdaugh's defense, led by Dick Harpootlian and Jim Griffin, is attacking that possibility as political and unnecessary, arguing that prosecutors have not identified any new facts that would justify escalating the case. The defense also plans to seek a change of venue, arguing that the original nationally watched trial made it nearly impossible to seat a fair jury in the same community, while also pushing for lawyer-led jury questioning, possible sequestration, and deeper scrutiny of jurors' social media activity. The evidentiary battle may be just as important as the venue and death penalty fight. The South Carolina Supreme Court allowed prosecutors to use some of Murdaugh's financial-crimes evidence as motive, but criticized how much time the state spent on those details during the first trial, meaning the second trial could feature a much narrower presentation of his thefts and fraud. The defense is also expected to press an alternative-suspect theory more aggressively, including questions about unknown male DNA reportedly found under Maggie Murdaugh's fingernails and whether investigators developed tunnel vision too early. Murdaugh may or may not testify again, with his lawyers calling that a game-day decision, but the shadow of Becky Hill will loom over everything. His attorneys have sued Hill in federal court and say they intend to use civil discovery, subpoenas, and depositions to determine whether her alleged jury influence was isolated or part of something broader.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Alex Murdaugh retrial takes shape as prosecutors weigh death penalty | Fox NewsBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-moscow-murders-and-more--5852883/support.

For nearly a century, the Murdaugh family name carried enormous weight across the South Carolina Lowcountry. Three generations of Murdaugh men served as powerful prosecutors in the state's 14th Judicial Circuit, building a political and legal empire that stretched through Hampton County and beyond. Their influence reached into law enforcement agencies, local banks, courtrooms, and civil litigation firms, creating an atmosphere where many locals believed the family operated above the law. Behind the polished image, however, allegations of corruption, favoritism, and financial misconduct had followed the family for years. Those suspicions exploded into public view after the 2019 boat crash involving Paul Murdaugh, who was accused of drunkenly crashing a boat that killed 19-year-old Mallory Beach. The tragedy unleashed lawsuits, media scrutiny, and pressure unlike anything the family had previously faced. As investigators and civil attorneys began digging deeper, they uncovered mounting evidence that Alex Murdaugh had stolen millions from clients, manipulated financial records, and desperately tried to keep his empire from collapsing. Prosecutors later argued that the pressure surrounding the boat case and the exposure of his financial crimes created the motive for the murders of his wife, Maggie Murdaugh, and son Paul at the family's Moselle hunting estate in June 2021. The double homicide transformed the once untouchable dynasty into the center of one of the most sensational murder cases in modern American history. The trial captivated the nation because it blended Southern Gothic family tragedy with allegations of corruption, addiction, privilege, and generational power. Prosecutors claimed Alex Murdaugh murdered Maggie and Paul in a calculated effort to distract from the financial reckoning closing in around him, while the defense argued that the state relied heavily on circumstantial evidence and emotional storytelling. A key piece of evidence came from a cellphone video recorded moments before the murders in which prosecutors said Alex's voice could be heard near the kennels, contradicting his earlier statements to investigators. In 2023, a jury convicted him of both murders, and he was sentenced to life in prison, appearing to close the chapter on the downfall of the Murdaugh dynasty. But the story took another dramatic turn when allegations surfaced that former Colleton County clerk of court Becky Hill improperly influenced jurors during the trial. Defense attorneys argued that Hill made comments pushing jurors toward a guilty verdict and used the high-profile case to gain publicity and financial opportunities. After extensive hearings and mounting controversy surrounding jury conduct, appellate courts ultimately ruled that the integrity of the proceedings had been compromised badly enough to warrant a new trial. The decision stunned observers and reopened fierce debate over whether Alex Murdaugh is a manipulative killer who exploited his family's influence for decades or a defendant whose conviction was tainted by misconduct inside the courtroom itself. What once appeared to be the definitive collapse of a Southern legal dynasty has now become an even more chaotic and controversial saga, with the possibility that one of the most infamous murder convictions in recent memory could be retried from the ground up.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-moscow-murders-and-more--5852883/support.

For nearly a century, the Murdaugh family name carried enormous weight across the South Carolina Lowcountry. Three generations of Murdaugh men served as powerful prosecutors in the state's 14th Judicial Circuit, building a political and legal empire that stretched through Hampton County and beyond. Behind the polished image, however, allegations of corruption, favoritism, and financial misconduct had followed the family for years. What a stunning reversal in the Murdaugh case says about vulnerabilities in our jury system.
The Alex Murdaugh murder trial has been lumbering down the tracks for over a month now and as the defense continued to make their case last week, they brought their client and the man accused of murder into the witness box. In this episode, we hear from several legal experts who discuss how they feel the two days went for the prosecution and Alex Murdaugh and if they believe the testimony will be enough to sway the jurors in the favor of the man accused of murdering his wife and son in cold blood.(commercial at 9:31)to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Alex Murdaugh: Legal experts weigh in on what they think of his testimony | CNNBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-moscow-murders-and-more--5852883/support.

Alex Murdaugh was once a powerful personal injury attorney from a deeply entrenched legal dynasty in South Carolina's Lowcountry. For nearly a century, the Murdaugh family held extraordinary influence over the region's legal and political system, beginning with Alex's great-grandfather, Randolph Murdaugh Sr., who founded the family law firm in 1910 and later became solicitor for the 14th Judicial Circuit. Three generations of Murdaugh men held that prosecutor position consecutively for roughly 87 years, creating a family empire that blended legal power, political connections, and immense local influence across several counties. The family's law firm, known for lucrative civil litigation cases, became one of the most recognizable firms in the state, while the Murdaugh name itself carried enormous weight with judges, law enforcement, and local officials throughout the region. Alex Murdaugh grew up inside that legacy and eventually joined the family firm, presenting himself publicly as a successful lawyer, family man, and member of one of South Carolina's most prominent legal families. That image collapsed spectacularly beginning in 2021 after a series of scandals and criminal investigations exposed what prosecutors described as years of fraud, theft, addiction, and deception. Public scrutiny exploded after Alex's wife Maggie and son Paul were found murdered at the family's Moselle hunting estate in June 2021, a case that quickly became one of the most closely watched murder investigations in America. As investigators dug deeper, they uncovered allegations that Alex had stolen millions of dollars from clients, law partners, and settlement funds over many years, while also orchestrating bizarre schemes to conceal his finances and personal problems. In 2023, Alex Murdaugh was convicted of murdering Maggie and Paul and sentenced to life in prison, though he has continued to maintain his innocence. The downfall of the Murdaugh family became symbolic of the collapse of an old Southern legal dynasty that many critics argued had operated for decades with little meaningful oversight because of its immense institutional influence in South Carolina.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-moscow-murders-and-more--5852883/support.
In 2021, a powerful South Carolina legal dynasty was rocked by a brutal double murder that quickly drew national attention. Alex Murdaugh, a prominent attorney from a family with deep ties to the region's justice system, soon became the focus of an investigation that extended far beyond the killings. In this episode of Murder: True Crime Stories, Carter Roy examines the Murdaugh murders, the unraveling of a legacy built on influence and control, and how a local tragedy exposed a pattern of deception that shocked the nation. Laura then details Gloria Satterfield's troubling case and how a Judge signed off on a $4.3m settlement, which included $1.45m attorney fees and $105,000 prosecution expenses, which went to guess who? Remember to listen to the new episodes and interviews with Mandy Matney, Erin Lee Carr, Liz Farrell and David Moses in the Crime Analyst Squad: patreon.com/CrimeAnalyst ****** In this episode Laura starts her deep dive into the Murdaugh family's timeline. In the family's orbit, there are at least five dead bodies in six years, including Stephen Smith, Gloria Satterfield, Mallory Beach, and Maggie and Paul. However, Laura doesn't stop there. She takes a wide-angle lens approach to the case, tracing it back to the beginning of the Murdaugh family's reign of power and influence. This includes business partnerships with convicted drug traffickers and the suspicious death of a key federal witness just before he was due to give evidence. As Laura continues her analysis, she also examines the shifting dynamics between Murdaugh and two significant women in his life. Both women begin questioning him about money, refusing to play by his rules. Additionally, Laura delves into the boat crash that resulted in Mallory Beach's death and a lawyer who was not afraid to hold Murdaugh accountable and ensure justice for the Beach family at all costs. Overall, Laura's deep dive into the Murdaugh family's timeline is a shocking and eye-opening look at the dark side of power, control, and influence. Laura interviews award winning writer and co-host of The Murdaugh Murders podcast Liz Farrell. Liz is played by Alicia Kelly in the hit Hulu show, Murdaugh: Death in the Family. Laura asks Liz about Paul Murdaugh's history of abuse of Morgan Doughty being excluded from the series as well as the latest developments in Alex Murdaugh's appeal filing. Laura and Liz profile other abusive and coercively controlling men including Brian Walshe who mounted a lubricous defense at his trial for the murder of Ana Walshe and Liz shares unique personal insight, having attended school with Brian. Laura highlights another potential hidden homicide – the triple deaths of Charity Beallis and her two children, and the unanswered questions surrounding the earlier death of Dr Randall Beallis first wife, Shawna Beallis. Throughout, Laura and Liz expose how coercive control operates behind closed doors and in plain sight - how patterns of power, dominance, and entitlement escalate, and why these warning signs are so often missed. When we understand how power and control operate, we are better equipped to protect victims and save lives. Listen. Learn the patterns. Save Lives. Originally released in April 2022, Who Killed Maggie & Paul? Part Three marked a critical point in the Murdaugh Murders investigation. In this episode, journalists Liz Farrell and Mandy Matney reveal the first major breakthrough: physical evidence linking Alex Murdaugh directly to the Moselle crime scene through high-velocity impact spatter found on his shirt. The team unpacked how this discovery—and Alex's shifting alibi—transformed public perception and intensified scrutiny of law enforcement's handling of the case. The episode also connected the dots between Alex's crumbling finances, the upcoming Beach lawsuit hearing, and the mounting pressure that preceded the murders. This remastered edition revisits that pivotal reporting, pairing sharp analysis with haunting 911 call audio and expert forensic insight. It captures the moment when rumor gave way to reality—and the truth about the Murdaugh family's empire of deceit began to unravel in full view of the world. “FOX Carolina's exclusive interview with Murdaugh attorney Jim Griffin: Part One” - Fox Carolina, Oct 12, 2021
