Today is December 7th 2021, early on the afternoon of December 7, 1941, President Franklin D. Roosevelt and his chief foreign policy aide, Harry Hopkins, were interrupted by a telephone call from Secretary of War Henry Stimson and told that the Japanese had attacked Pearl Harbor. On December 8, at 12:30 p.m., Roosevelt addressed a joint session of Congress and the Nation via radio. We'll hear a portion from that address on today's show as a tribute on National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. Today's Mid-South View Point show continues with an interview with Dr. Matt Crawford, senior pastor at Trinity Baptist Church. As we commemorate National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day and the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor we return to history and World War II with two important stories when journalist Kathryn Smith, author of THE GATEKEEPER: MISSY LEHAND, FDR AND THE UNTOLD STORY OF THE PARTNERSHIP THAT DEFINED A PRESIDENCY and historian Marc Wortman, author of 1941, FIGHTING THE SHADOW WAR join Halli on The Halli Casser-Jayne Show, Wednesday, 3 pm ET at Halli Casser-Jayne dot com.In THE GATEKEEPER, Journalist Kathryn Smith tells the story of Marguerite Alice “Missy” LeHand the savvy personal secretary President Franklin Delano Roosevelt considered one of the most vital, and certainly one of the most loyal members of his inner circle. Missy fulfilled the crucial duties of Chief of Staff long before the position was formally created, working with FDR for more than twenty years. She was also FDR's confidante (LOVER?), his support when he contracted polio, and his close friend. People in Washington, D.C., knew one indisputable truth: if you wanted to get to FDR, you had to go through Missy.A divided America? A country reluctant to go to war? A country turning its back on genocide? The year 2016? No, the year 1941, the focus of historian Marc Wortman's book 1941, FIGHTING THE SHADOW WAR. Conventional wisdom dictates that the US entered World War II in retaliation for the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 8, 1941. Historian Marc Wortman sees it another way, revealing the ways in which America played an increasingly significant and clandestine role in the war in the months and years prior to officially joining the battle. Churchill, Lindbergh, the Roosevelt family, FDR advisor and emissary Harry Hopkins, journalists William Shirer and Philip Johnson, Wortman weaves the smart, suspenseful history that reads like an epic novel.
Honoring the 74th Anniversary of the Attack on Pearl Harbor, Dr. Hiroya Sugano M.D. hosted the Blackened Canteen Ceremony aboard the USS Arizona. Dr. Hiroya Sugano, Director General of the Zero Fighter Admirers’ Club, comes from Japan to conduct this annual commemoration of peace and reconciliation ceremony with a silent prayer and pouring bourbon whisky from a WWII-blackened canteen into the water from the USS Arizona Memorial as an offering to the spirits of the fallen.

December 7, 2012, National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. This week the Sack Heads pay tribute to our brave men and women who sacrificed their lives at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, when the Empire of Japan attacked the United States at Pearl Harbor, and other military bases on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. Speaker of the House John Boehner has made, in the opinion of your humble hosts, several mistakes, or boners, and will henceforth be known as John "Boner" Boehner. Rooster weighs in on the discussion. Also, Shaun was amazed by a news story about a fish that comes out of the water to eat birds who come to the water edge to drink. Clint was not so impressed by story due to the fact that said fish was, in fact, a type of catfish. Makes perfect sense. All that and more on Sack Heads Radio! Each week we rip into politics, news and current events. Has the government gone to far? Are your rights being attacked? Out of control world leaders? We got it covered. With a sharp tongue and occasional potty humor, we strive to keep the facts straight, and pick up where Main Stream Media ignores or hides. This isn't your parents conservative talk show! This is the Sack Heads Radio Show!
