Keith Allen has been many things. The father of popstar Lily and Game of Thrones actor Alfie Allen, he was also a TV presenter, theatre actor, the man behind two hit football anthems (the Fat Les ditty “Vindaloo” and New Order's “World in Motion”, both of which he co-wrote) and a handful of small roles in cult movies (Shallow Grave, Trainspotting, 24 Hour Party People). Growing up, he was a troublemaker; he'd spent time in Borstal, was thrown out of drama school, even sent to prison. Now in his 70s, as he prepares to star in a new musical called Rehab, he looks back on the moments that have made up his rollercoaster life and career with Krishnan Guru-Murthy, on this week's episode of Ways to Change the World. Produced by Silvia Maresca. Song credits: 'Vindaloo' / Fat Les 'World in Motion' / New Order

Linara Washington was born in the little town of Beaufort, SC to a beautiful Brazilian woman and an American son of a preacher man. Her mother spoke no English at the time, which has given Linara the added benefit of being fluent in Portuguese. She attended the prestigious University of Chicago where she started her courses as a Pre-med Biology major. But, as with all things that are meant to be, she soon found herself participating in the campus's theater productions and eventually took her MCAT money and purchased headshots, and did not tell her parents until graduation day that she was going to pursue acting. Linara's gutsy move proved to be the right one; she has had the pleasure of working at a number of Chicago's most acclaimed theaters including The Steppenwolf, Lookingglass, Northlight, and the Tony Award winning Victory Gardens. She has appeared in over 50 commercials nationally and internationally. A supporting role as Keisha, the cute and sassy receptionist in Barbershop 2 motivated her move to Los Angeles where she immediately landed recurring roles on American Dreams and E.R. Linara has since guest starred on hit shows including Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, Madame Secretary, NCIS, Station 19, Code Black, CSI, The Defenders, Touch, Ghost Whisperer, and many others. Feature film credits include working with Will Ferrell, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and acclaimed director Marc Forster on Stranger Than Fiction, and performing opposite Brad Pitt and James Gandolfini in Killing Them Softly. She also starred in the award winning, Kings of the Evening with Lynn Whitfield, Glynn Turman, and Tyson Beckford. Linara is currently working on Casting The Net, an original series for a new streaming service due to debut in November. When she's not on set, Linara enjoys spending time with her 5 year old daughter, director/writer/producer husband Andrew P. Jones, and their two crazy cats. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/theactorslounge/support

Jerrell Lee Wesley, actor/writer, grew up in a small rural town in West Florida. His father was a fire-fighter while his mother worked in a SONY factory. He has two older brothers and a younger sister. Being the youngest boy, he constantly found himself having to work extremely hard just to keep up with his older brothers. This competitive drive would, at times, find him in the dark hours of the evening honing his athletic skills. Eventually, Jerrell became a 3-sport star at Graceville High School. He used his athletic ability to earn a scholarship at the University of Kentucky, where he played football and baseball. After his college career, Jerrell had several professional baseball tryouts, but injuries from his football days spoiled any athletic dreams. So he gave up on his dreams of being a professional athlete, and became a football coach at Drake University in Des Moines, IA. During his time at Drake, his passion for the arts were reignited when the team took a trip to the California Bay area. “When I stepped off that plane and saw those hills and mountains, it sparked a childhood desire to move to Los Angeles" and pursue my passion for acting. With $1200 in his pocket, Jerrell took a leap of faith and moved to Los Angeles. Jerrell has starred in supporting roles alongside Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds in the hit RomCom The Proposal. He had a recurring role for three seasons in the ‘STARZ' hit tv show POWER, created by Courtney Kemp, and starring rapper 50 Cent and actor Omari Hardwick. He also had roles on shows Blue Bloods, The Goldberg's, Switched At Birth, Six Feet Under, and ‘YOUTUBE PREMIUM' hit Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on TV. Other movie roles include Knight & Day starring Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz. Today, Jerrell currently lives in Atlanta, GA. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/theactorslounge/support
