The NFL season is around the corner and the Sportsnet Radio Network has you covered. Matt Marchese and Donnovan Bennett will provide your daily football fix from Monday to Friday, talking NFL news, injuries and all of the latest from the gridiron. Tune in to the trailer to hear what we have in store for NFL fans this season! The views and opinions expressed in this podcast are those of the hosts and guests and do not necessarily reflect the position of Rogers Sports & Media or any affiliates.
What goes into buying (and selling) a professional sports franchise? What are the ripple effects within a sport - and outside of it - when a team sells for billions of dollars? Donnovan brings on Bruce Schoenfeld, author of 'Game of Edges: The Analytics Revolution and the Future of Professional Sports', to discuss these questions - they take a look at the pending sale of the Washington Commanders, how that might affect team valuations across different sports, and also chat about the impact of analytics (for better or for worse) on front offices in every league in the world. Plus, Donnovan has a chat with David Thomson, Managing Director of NFL Canada, on the future of football in Canada, including the partnerships NFL Canada is cooking up for the coming season. Happy New Year and welcome back! Just Bob and John today as we kick off the new year by reflecting on some of the biggest sporting headlines of 2022 and look forward to what to come in 2023. We start the show with the NFL as we preview tonights matchup between the Cincinatti Bengals and the Buffalo Bills before we look at the rest of the league, analyzing this years disappointments, favourites and dark horses as we near the 2023 NFL playoffs. We then shift focus to the World Junior Championships being held in Halifax and find out why John is tired of hockey before looking back at the legal issues surrounding Hockey Canada and finish the podcast with a brief discussion on the abysmal Toronto Raptors.
