Patrick is joined by Michael DeLaney (Retcon Punch) to review last week’s Nindie Direct. Some patterns emerge: post-apocalypse, cartoon-y art styles, everything is a weapon, dogs in danger, and mutants… lots of mutants. Plus, Patrick and DeLaney are both initially excited by a game called “The Red Lantern” before realizing it has nothing to do with the comic book characters of the same name, before getting excited about what the game actually is. Friend us on Switch: Patrick is SW-1401-2882-4137 and Mark is SW-8112-0583-0050.

Whether it's a sled dog survival game, a balletic gunman with a talking banana, or a rhythm-based Zelda game, there's always plenty to talk about after a Nintendo Indie Direct. This week on the NXpress Nintendo Podcast Tim and Patrick are joined once again by Goomba Stomp writer Izsak Barnette to pore over the latest weird game announcements for the Switch, and once again we try to convince him that there are definitely some titles worth getting excited about! From The Red Lantern to Cuphead to Rad, and with a little Cadence of Hyrule thrown in for good measure (eh? eh?), we go over some of the highlights, including what we're most looking forward to getting our hands on. Before that, Patrick gives his review of the popular new puzzle game Baba is You. Is the game is clever? Or are the results mixed? Izsak also recaps his experience with Space War Arena, a real-time strategy game apparently involving mindless drones in space. Later on, Izsak also gives us his opinion on how well a charming Wii hit translates to the 3DS with Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn. And yes, we go off on movie tangents. Again.

In this weeks news: Anthem sells okay, Division 2 sells poorly, God of War wins awards, Sony doing a direct, Google announces Stadia, and a Nindie Direct.
In a surprise to no one, Google confirmed their new gaming platform is cloud based. They're calling it: The Netflix for games. But with a stupid name. And ambiguous pricing. And probably a load of data mining. Then we talk about the Nintendo Indie Direct (Nindie Direct).
