From Pokémon Red to rediscovering the franchise through Pokémon Platinum, KojinAtojin's journey is one of nostalgia, neurodiversity, and creative expression. After growing up with Pokémon during the height of its Gen 1 craze, his relationship with the franchise took a new turn, first through performance and cosplay, then through rekindled friendships in Pokémon GO.KojinAtojin shares how mental health, autism, and ADHD shaped his early experience with gaming and how Pokémon provided comfort, curiosity, and connection. From catching his first Lugia in SoulSilver to starring in an award-winning Eeveelution cosplay skit at A-Kon, he reflects on how Pokémon fueled not just his imagination but his sense of belonging. After a brief break from Pokémon GO, Pokemon has once again become a meaningful way to build relationships, celebrate nostalgia, and create new memories with friends and coworkers.Whether you're a fan of classic Pokémon games, the Sinnoh region, cosplay culture, or stories of resilience and rediscovery, this is one Trainer's Eye episode you don't want to miss.SourcesOpening Song: "Forget You" by Alex_MakeMusic from PixabaySend us a textSupport the show Visit our website: www.asthepokeballturns.com Join Our Discord Community!https://discord.gg/AqAbD7FbRt Your next Pokemon adventure begins here!
Lugia, more like Two-gia because this is the second time we get to hang out with Lugia on To Kill A Delibird! Finishing the Whirl Island adventure, we recap and banter over a delightful triple of episodes. Starting with Ep. 222, “The Mystery is History” we meet a bald child with his friend Silver and Dr. Wily's Pokemon doppelganger. Continuing into Ep. 223, “A Parent Trapped!” we learn how small Lugia can be used to catch large Lugia. Ep. 224, “A Promise is a Promise” reminds us what Pokemon is all about: children tackling grown scientists who really like anger. It only felt right to talk about Ho-Oh after covering Lugia but do these two big, ol' bird have anything in common? Does the Rainbow Pokemon really sport enough colors to hold that title? Is Will going to Hell for eating a cool fish?? When will Braden watch another good Pokemon movie??? Follow along with the entries below: Gold: Legends claim this POKéMON flies the world's skies continuously on its magnificent seven-colored wings. Silver: A legend says that its body glows in seven colors. A rainbow is said to form behind it when it flies. Crystal: It will reveal itself before a pure-hearted trainer by shining its bright rainbow-colored wings. Ruby & Sapphire: HO-OH's feathers glow in seven colors depending on the angle at which they are struck by light. These feathers are said to bring happiness to the bearers. This POKéMON is said to live at the foot of a rainbow. Diamond, Pearl & Platinum: Its feathers are in seven colors. It is said that anyone seeing it is promised eternal happiness. Photodex: People say that if you find a feather from one of Ho-Oh's seven-colored wings, you'll be promised eternal happiness. Ho-Oh looked so beautiful, sparkling and shining with each flap of its wings. BTB: This big, gay bird is your ticket to heaven! Just give people the feathers, Ho-OH! Hey it's legendary Pokemon time! Wow! Lugia! If your wings have big ol' hands on the end are they just arms? Follow along with the entries below: Gold: It is said that it quietly spends its time deep at the bottom of the sea because its powers are too strong. Silver: It is said to be the guardian of the seas. It is rumored to have been seen on the night of a storm. Crystal: It has an incredible ability to calm raging storms. It is said that LUGIA appears when storms start. Ruby & Sapphire: LUGIA's wings pack devastating power - a light fluttering of its wings can blow apart regular houses. As a result, this POKéMON chooses to live out of sight deep under the sea. Diamond, Pearl & Platinum: It sleeps in a deep-sea trench. If it flaps its wings, it is said to cause a 40-day storm. Photodex: Lugia is said to be the guardian of the seas. Its power is so overwhelming that it usually stays in its home at the bottom of the sea, where it quietly sleeps. BTB: It's mighty considerate of Lugia to live at the bottom of the ocean so that its godlike power over storms doesn't consume the Earth. Lured Up Podcast 258 Record Date - 3/14/23 Publish Date - 3/17/23 Where to begin! This last week was not positive for community sentiment! While the Festival of Colors event was well received, a disastrous Elite Raid showing diminished any positivity that the community at large had in them. Elite Raids were plagued by connection issues, bugs, glitches, and crashes. It was a stress and anxiety filled Raid event, and the majority of Trainers left feeling terrible about the game and their experience. Timing couldn't have been worse for Niantic as they had just released a blog post confirming their commitment to real world play. What will Niantic need to do in order to get out of this hole? For sure they will need to make good on the event, but also show us they can release a product that functions properly on a consistent basis. The optimist in us hopes that the Let's GO and Team GO Rocket Takeover events go off without a hitch. They look to be VERY promising and cover the gamut of gameplay disciplines so every Trainer will have a chance to take part. We wrap things up with a Lugia Raid Guide and Battle Party! While we have a little bit of time before Lugia arrives, it typically brings Raiders out to get down. Be prepared and put together a party with us!
