If there is an Xbox showcase, I hope it copies Nintendo Direct's formula Welcome back! It's another Tuesday, which means tonight there will be a new episode of the Spot Dodge Podcast exclusively on Destructoid. Topics: Tonight the crew discusses the heavily rumored “Xbox Developer Direct”. Will Xbox finally lean into smaller Nintendo Direct-style presentations? What would we want to see during it? The team also goes over Fire Emblem Engage specs, GameCube controller return, and the future of physical games media! ICYMI: According to Windows Central, Xbox has a new show titled “Xbox Developer Direct” set for January 25 at 12 PM Pacific Time. The show is rumored to give us deep dives into three major first-party titles from Xbox. Minecraft Legends, Redfall, and Forza Motorsport. Along with that, it's also said to cover some ZeniMax Online content. The Xbox Developer Direct is rumored to be Microsoft's first attempt at a more transparent marketing initiative starting in 2023. Lastly, Starfield might be absent from the show because Xbox and Microsoft have bigger marketing plans for a later date. I hope Xbox has produced a new show format more akin to Nintendo Directs and PlayStation's State of Play events. The long-form structure of previous shows like Inside Xbox were hard to sit through. Not only that but they were never amped up like a Nintendo Direct. Inside Xbox would drop with very little fanfare. This new show has the chance to change the perception of Xbox's smaller shows. ¡Honk, amigos y amigas! Bienvenidos una semana más al GALARDONADO (no pensasteis que fuéramos a decir eso nunca, ¿eh? Nosotros tampoco) programa Antihype, en el que deducimos con análisis concienzudos las afiliaciones políticas de distintos personajes de los videojuegos y hacemos al mismo tiempo jingles sobre cualquier tema que se nos ocurra. Una de cal y otra de arena, que se suele decir. Llegamos esta semana con un poco de retraso pero muchas ganas tras nuestro arrollador éxito en la gala de los Indie Burger Press Awards (vamos a insistir en ello hasta que os repita, como hamburguesa vegana) para traeros toda la actualidad del mundo del videojuego y también aquella que se nos quedó la semana pasada sin comentar, que somos nosotros muy de aprovechar las sobras para el día siguiente. Eso incluye, claro está, el State of Play, el Inside Xbox y la siesta que nos echamos tras ambos eventos, cargados como siempre de emociones fuertes. La sección de Movidas, todavía sin tonadilla propia, viene esta semana fuerte, en otro de esos momentos de "vamos con algo cortito" y acabar haciendo 45 minutos de quejas, despiporre y varios intentos por acabar en la cárcel perpetrados por Abraham Mat- bueno, es posible que esta vez Pauloma tuviera algo que ver, pero nos reservamos eso para un mejores momentos de censura podcastil. Y para acabar, qué mejor que un triplete de juegos como pocas veces se ha visto antes, en una sección inicialmente llamada "Mini reviews" y posteriormente bautizada como "somos incapaces de hablar diez minutos de algo, macho": Mario Kart Tour, para que nuestro querido Aitor pueda rivalizar con el Fary en anécdotas sobre taxis; Overland, en el que nos interesamos un 10% en el juego y un 90% en el perrete; y Untitled Goose Game, la última sensación de internet y también de nuestros honkrazones. These two broadcasts did little to ignite our fandom especially when compared to Nintendo's version of these direct-to-consumer video info-dumps.
