Dedicated to the employees of big banks who get shit on over and over again. Speculation is that Wells Fargo is going to cut it's workforce by 20-25% really soon, which could mean up to 66,000 employees gone. Amazing. It is all the residual aftereffects of the "Unauthorized Account Scandal" (Lay people know it as "Fake Account Scandal"). In my opening segment, I discuss how 5,300 people fired in 2016 for the scandal really should have only been a fraction of that which pushed sales goals to low level employees, and how now with revenues and profits down, Wells will cut spending by eliminating jobs of people who were never involved in scandal. I speculate aside from the millions of customers impacted, maybe millions more are impacted as a result of the layoffs. (Kids, Wives, Husbands, Etc.) Then the HUGE STORY of the week. Bank of America announces that the pandemic is all over, and they are removing the $200 bonus pay from front-facing employees/call center employees checks. Judd Legum broke the story a month after I first mentioned it on this podcast. I am that good :) (Wait... You mean the virus is still around? So why are they taking away pay?) Citing going back to "business-as-usual", Bank of America in a memo stated that pandemic pay ends in October. I discuss what "business-as-usual" really means (It's not good) and how the one incentive for associates during these crazy times is now gone. Of course we talk about BofA's profits among other things! Really astounding All My Links HERE MY PATREON Page! Election Day is 8 days away as of the recording of this podcast. No matter who you vote for, I support your American duty to VOTE! (Vote Often in Chicago...Kidding) Big Banks claim to support your right to vote too, offering up to 3 paid hours for voting time per "eligible employee" at Bank of America. So.. What makes an employee "eligible"? Manager approval is needed to go be able to vote during work hours, but on the busy 3rd of the month and with short staffs on the branch, I will get into how managers will use this time to dissuade their employees from voting during bank hours or chastising employees for not voting absentee, voting early or voting when they were off. I share a story about the 2014 Midterm elections about how I wasn't allowed to vote because it was our "outbound call night" where we were supposed to coax customers into making appointments the next day/week. To be fair, I just called my burner phone, and I never bothered any clients at night at home. Long Story Short, Banks only portray that they are caring American companies allowing their people to do their civic duty. Reality: Do it on your own time, Buster! Wells Fargo did it again. Another Wells Fargo story that does not look good. I call Wells Fargo the Mike Tyson of Banks. Almost any story you pin on Tyson, you could believe. I believe Wells is capable of anything. Over 100 employees, likely from the small business arm of Wells were terminated last week when it was announced that they allegedly procured EIDL Disaster Aid Loans (From Covid-19 Funds) for themselves using phony businesses and non-profits. In this pod, I take a shot at David Galloreese who is Wells Fargo's head of HR when he was quoted in this Marketwatch Story as saying “These wrongful actions were personal actions, and do not involve our customers.”... Umm, but they do, David, especially with all the ignoring Wells banker did to clients looking for EIDL or PPP loans this summer. Unbelievable to say that. I also explain how you shouldn't be so stupid when working at a bank. Banks monitor EVERYTHING in a branch or office. They were going to be found out no matter what. I also dig in a bit to the issue of gov't aid and my own family experiences and stories about others they knew who were taking advantage of the aid like Wells Employees (And allegedly Chase as well) WaPo Story SBA Government Site to learn about EIDL Also in the podcast, I talk about the 10 year anniversary of the "F11" incident. An incident so dumb it got me in serious trouble at BofA, nearly getting me fired. All I did was hit a button that did nothing but check the time on a computer, but to BofA, I was sabotaging the regions sales numbers with that time check. So stupid, and thinking of it reminds me why I hate BofA ha. All My Links HERE MY PATREON Page! After a very popular podcast and Twitter posts I did last week in regards to the Bank of America announcement that they will be offering small loans to help customers bridge the gaps between checks (aka Payday Loans), I received over 100 DMs, emails and social media engagements. Most of them were in agreement with me, but some understandably questioned my dissent to this product. To my longtime listeners Seth in Atlanta, Kerri in Arvada, CO, and Lance in Corvalis OR, thanks for the feedback. I answered their questions they posed to me in this podcast. I talk about my reasons again for not liking the loan, and what should be something they should offer instead. This story will not die! Plus, I talk about a story I neglected to mention about a bank we never have enough time to talk about. Chase committed $30 Billion over 5 years to "Advance Racial Equity", which sounds very familiar to BofA's way of announcing their $1 Billion donation. Of course, I believe that most of the money in this commitment will never touch a customer's hand directly. Almost half of the $30B will be lent to fund construction of low income rentals.. So it will be used to keep POC in the same situation they are already in? (Makes confused Scooby-Doo sound) In this segment, I talk about how lending for home ownership is inflated by a flat number: $200k I talk more about the rental thing. I also discuss how they are going to "help" 1 million low income customers get low-cost bank accounts, when they very easily could give free accounts. It's all so ridiculous. But honestly, shout out to Chase for at least throwing themselves under the bus in statements to sell that they mean business a little harder as they did on Juneteenth! MY PATREON Page! Bank of America reached Meta status today by announcing that they will be offering small-dollar loans up to $500 for eligible customers who need "liquidity" according to some Bank of America Executive who doesn't know how real people talk. The product is lamely called "Balance Assist". Bank of America has a disdain for the payday lending industry, and this product is no better. Press Release OH BTW, Their website also warns against such products! In this podcast, I discuss why I don't like payday loans, my history with them as a kid growing up and as a roommate to college kids. I talk about how the people who need help the most don't need payday loans to get by, they need real help from their banks to get by. I learned of this news while donating plasma, which led me to record a voicemail to myself, which is included in the podcast. I talk about the articles released by several media sources and how the BofA execs hype this up as some game changer. One article has a quote from a "consumer advocate" for the Financial Health Network praising BofA, without acknowledging BofA is a member of her consumer advocacy group American Banker Article Bloomberg Article Austin Weinstein's Article in the Charlotte Observer Second Part of the podcast, I discuss the terms and conditions of the Balance Assist project, and discuss how in order to get this payday loan, you have to have an account that 1. Can charge you overdraft fees/NSF Fees, 2. Have qualified direct deposit, which many don't have, 3. Have a positive balance, which may be an issue for some seeking this loan, and 4. Have a 90 day payment plan which can impact other short-term bills for people. Let's not mention the fact they lump this in with other "helpful" products mentioned in the release that help no one. I talk about those as well. I try not to get too angry! MY PATREON Page! I discuss how Bank of America's "Cyber Security Week" includes inferences to my project in its text and how Bank of America knows that since I do nothing but help customers connect with managers, they are doing their best to accuse me of being a "Scammer". Hilarious! I tell a couple customer service stories about my work at BofA and how I plan to go about my project now that Bank of America is trying to cast doubt on "The Notorious Banker". Perhaps you can leave me alone and help your clients a little better, idiots, and maybe, just maybe I wouldn't be making a living on helping people better than you. :) Also, Austin Weinstein has a great story in the Charlotte Observer about 7 High Ranking Black Female Execs who have left Wells Fargo for other jobs in the past 12 months. In light of the CEO Charlie Scharf's "limited pool of talent" comments, I discuss how CEO Scharf and all CEOs and newly hired people in all industries hire people they are familiar with, which of course limits opportunities for women and minorities going forward. I talk about it using a couple of sports analogies. I also talk about how long it may take to develop a pool, and if CEO Scharf can ever see it all the way through, just because of time. I also talk about a couple personal stories of how working on the branch level can stunt your growth up the chain, simply because of those same big shots playing you as a chess piece when taking over a bank market/area/region MY PATREON Page! Segment 1: I detail why I was suspended from Twitter on Wednesday in the middle of one of the biggest bank stories of the year, The controversial comments by CEO of Wells Fargo Scharf. I discuss the fear of me losing all of my data/conversations, how I found out both Wells and BofA reported posts on Tuesday/Wednesday for messages they claimed "Incited Bullying" (Posted contact info of execs at both companies), and the subsequent reinstatement/apology I got from Twitter for suspending me "In Error". I won't forget this, big banks! Segment 2: In the heart of election season, I reminisce about a former client of mine. One of my favs. "Mr. Ben" was a 90+ yo man who lived on a fixed SSI payment of $450 a month, yet he went through a box of checks a month. Why? Because he would donate to his favorite political candidates $3 checks at a time. He would continuously write checks, until 2012, when a fraud incident required BofA to freeze his account. Not wanting to close it because of a fee waiver that gave him free checks, he decided not to pursue the claim. BofA did, and blocked his account temporarily. When I got it fixed, everything that was great about his account was not there, and a man taken advantage of by promises by politicians was now getting scammed of 100s by BofA. Segment 3: I pick apart CEO of Wells Fargo Charles Scharf's longer, more lame apology where he points out the 4 POC he did hire, discusses initiatives to have more conversations (e.g. Do Nothing some more), and hold execs accountable for not hitting diversity goals. Yawn. Segment 4: I wrap up by reading a webpage from Bank of America clearly alluding to me and my project on Twitter. HAHA I tell people not to trust Bank of America, and they are lumping me in as a "scammer" they tell clients how to avoid people like me. I discuss why they are idiots and the short and long term goals for TNB as I am set to debut my book/go public! Stay tuned for fun! MY PATREON Page! Unbelievable day. We had to do a special podcast based on the idiotic comments that CEO of Wells Fargo Charles Scharf made in a Wells Fargo meeting in June. The racially charged comments (in my eyes) were made about his own employees in the midst of Juneteenth week, where his bank adversaries were working on celebrating the holiday on a grand scale for the first time. NBC News Article that blew up Twitter! Imani Moise Article that I first saw that morning I ramble on for 45 minutes about what I think he meant by it (which is still not good), and how a lot of the time, just looking at numbers that bankers can't control can impact who gets promoted and who doesn't, as I experienced that myself in banking. I also talk about how his CFO mentioned budget cuts which could mean job losses, yet Scharf still wants to double black exec jobs in that same time. Does that mean higher title for no pay raise then for those folks? I discuss how this statement could have been an offhand comment to discuss how execs weren't going to get bonuses for hitting diversity quotas. I also talk about do I think he should resign..... Plus his "apology" It's a complicated story I stayed up all night for. Hope you enjoy my podcast if this is your first! MY PATREON Page! I received a screenshot of an email someone who works at Bank of America got to be on the lookout for "criminals using BofA contacts to appear to be helpful online". I am certain they are referring to me. The fact that BofA sees my presence online as something to "worry" about is laughable, as I have hundreds of people who I have assisted in the last year willing to back me up. I discuss what they are talking about and why they are totally wrong. Bank of America has public contact information for most of their leaders online. I merely direct people to it with my project. Also, I talk much more about the monthly fee changes at Wells Fargo starting October 8th. I got so many emails about why it should matter to customers who don't even have to worry about this, and I go into detail why they should care, and why this is only the start of more of this with all big banks. Finally, I do over 40 minutes (I plan on doing a part 2 as well) about the American Banker article discussing "Extreme Sales Practices" at Bank of America as written by Kevin Wack. In a weird way, I defend some of the claims against Bank of America made by people who chose to remain anonymous. While sales pressure was high, the accusations made by some people didn't gel with what I knew about BofA "procedure" for discipline, hitting your goals, and bonuses over 13 years. I am of the thought that you need to get it right if you make claims about BofA experiences, and I feel some of the claims by anonymous people were not correct. I am so conflicted about some of it, you have to listen to understand! MY PATREON Page! Charlotte Observer Reporter Austin Weinstein posted a story yesterday about John Shrewsberry mentioning to investors the cutback of $10 Billion in spending Wells Fargo needs to do will be "mostly people" What Mr. Shrewsberry didn't mention is that he makes $12 million + a year, plus more if the stock does well. That's almost $6,000 an hour! I discuss how the closure of branches isn't necessarily where the cuts will come from, as I am familiar with small town New Mexico branches that employed 2-3 people at most! I also talk about how the infrastructure of certain departments or elimination of some products will lead to a different type of bank than the "All-in-one" model banks loved 15 years ago. I can't get over how much goddamn money he makes. I discuss Bank of America's prospects for something similar soon as well! Plus, I discuss the email sent to millions of Wells Fargo customers discussing changes to requirements to avoid fees for their basic checking accounts, one week after announcing their no overdraft fee account for a fee! I discuss how Wells lowered some elements of the requirements, but are still a moot point to someone working minimum wage, based on the likelihood of their boss being "old school" and not doing direct deposit. I discuss how slowly but surely, this is a "punishment fee" for those who don't adapt to the method of banking Wells wants to do,and why I don't like it. MY PATREON Page! In this episode, I discuss two new policies at Bank of America, which are actually already implemented in some states including my own. Basically, Bank of America will no longer cash checks for someone who has less money in their account than the check is worth. I discuss how this targets the lower-to-middle class folks who bank there who don't have or can't get direct deposit. Plus, Bank of America ends provisional credit for checks deposited at the ATM, which basically takes away the one perk the ATM has. What a travesty. Secondly, I discuss more about Bank of America's $1 Billion "Commitment" to end racial inequality. Bank of America announced today where up to $300 Million of that is going. They are investing.... in a bank? Huh? How does this help people in need? Fun fact: It doesn't. It gives capital to 3 banks that have really small footprints. I talk about what the point would even be to invest in these banks and how BofA is going to be wanting to become equity partners with black and hispanic owned business, as if they are "Shark Tank" or something! Finally, I discuss Wells Fargo's introduction of an account with less fees. It will cost you a fee of $5. It's called the "Clear Access Checking" though it's clear to access this, you have to pony up $60 a year for nothing but a piss poor attempt to hide their crappy service. I talk about how accounts that block overdraft fees help no one, and Banks should focus more on financial knowledge for their clients. I also talk about this account being the replacement for an account meant to help clients who had issues with a bank in the past. It's really a complicated web! MY PATREON Page! One of the great things about TNB is that I get emails and info from dozens of disenfranchised workers at all major banks telling me their horror stories, and urging me to keep up the good work. A very concerned Bank of America employee back east sent me information in regards to the Coronavirus Assistance Plan that Bank of America rolled out in March to help those impacted by illness, job loss or anything tied to COVID. That included loan deferments, fee refunds, and much more. I praised the effort, but questioned "HOW" they would help because of 5 hour phone holds and branches closed. Well, according to the info from the employee on Monday, The Virus is cured, because Bank of America is doing away with courtesy refunds for Virus relief. Bank of America is requiring all employees submit refund requests into their normal system, and the "System" can approve refunds on a case-by-case basis... Basically, if you never overdrafted before, and you have money...lots of it... you'll get help. I discuss a past instance where Christy, an ex-manager of Bank of America (my old boss who actually fired me) would make us document "Hardship" requests in a binder, including asking customers for personal information about their illness/death in family to write into the binder to justify our fee refund request. You will also hear an impassioned James discuss the need for these assistance items still, and how BofA is short-sighted in stopping an important way to help people. YOU ALSO WILL HEAR SOME CRINGEWORTHY ROLEPLAY OF WHAT IT WOULD SOUND LIKE WHEN A BANKER DENIES A REFUND TO YOU, AS MODELED BY THE TALKING POINTS OF THE EMAIL I VIEWED. EVEN I GOT MYSELF SICK DOING THEM! Plus, Another segment of "Hey, What about Us?" where I discuss another big banks issue that was in the news. Wells Fargo got into some hot water a couple months ago when people found they were placed into forbearance on their loans, despite not requesting it. Wells claimed it was proactively helping people to avoid delays (sure). Now, people are suing, and I discuss why and how it seems like Wells Fargo's alleged "help" and big banks in general always seem to help in such a way that makes no sense, likening it to a little kid trying to help you cook Lawsuit article here NBC Report on the "Never-asked-for" forbearance! Cute little story in the news last week. At least, people at BofA want you to think it's cute. Bank of America Customer Opens Mobile App and Finds an Extra $2.45 Billion Man named Blaise Aguirre wakes up to find an extra $2,450,000,000.00 in his Bank of America app. It's a similar story to the issue where millions of BofA customers were showing a $0 Balance in their accounts a few weeks ago, leading to widespread anger! This podcast discusses one thing: I believe this story was overblown and fabricated by Bank of America themselves to be the antithesis of "Where's all my money?" that was going on a few weeks ago, to create more fun chatter about their bank and distracts a bit from the fact that I think BofA has the worst online banking experience out there, despite "bEiNg a TeCh cOmPaNy". I think having a story like this stirs up conversation, most of it lighthearted, when you wake up and you are one of the "richest" people in the world, at least on a phone screen. People will want to talk about how to spend money, and what they would do if given the opportunity to do so. I also discuss the motive of why BofA would want to make a big deal out of it, the fact that the customer mentioned that he mentioned it to a personal banker/relationship manager (my old job), and how that leak to the media would likely cause you to lose your job, which is why I think it's a BofA fabricated story. I also discuss a theory why it may have showed that much money in the account, plus I also discuss how bankers will use this silly story to create sales conversations with other customers about "saving to reach your goals". Thanks to everyone who listened to my recent episode with Ciera! We intend on doing more interviews VERY SOON! Today's podcast dwells on Bank of America's Billion Dollar "Commitment" to end Economic and Racial Inequality. We are skeptical of how they will get to a billion dollars. I personally don't think there'll be much giving. Bank of America proved me wrong (kinda) by announcing via a news article, that smells suspiciously like paid content masquerading as news, of 146,000 El Cheapo paper masks being donated to charities in Orange County, CA. These are charities that BofA was already working with, so is this additional giving or just a reshuffling of giving to make everything about their mandate to address Economic and Racial Inequality. I discuss this issue with movie analogies, and I call them out on donating only 2,000 masks to Meals on Wheels, instead of...you know...giving them money for Meals...or Wheels! Similar Story in Phoenix that uses the exact same words as the California article, including a substitute quote from an AZ manager to replace the Cali story! What the hell? Either some serious plagiarism is going on, or Bank of America is paying for and creating this content to plant in local communities to get clout off of a pandemic. P.S. Look at the pics of the people in the articles manhandling masks with their bare hands, not following ANY safety protocol!!! Plus, I debut a new segment to the podcast called, Hey, What About Us? This segment will highlight one non-BofA bank 1 time a week minimum to ensure we aren't obsessing over BofA, though with the number of complaints on BofA online nearing 7 to 1 over any other big bank, it's hard not to! We discuss Wells Fargo CEO Scharf making over $35 Million in compensation for a company who lost $2B last quarter. I explain the art of overpaying to get a fresh start and how it's similar to sports. I also weirdly commend BofA CEO Moynihan not even being one of the top 3 paid CEOs, which is surprising and some would say he is underpaid. (WHAT?!?!) We talk about where it's headed and my feelings on it. Article by Dan Ennis of Banking Dive Great podcast! Don't let the title fool you. I mean business with this episode. The Notorious Banker will take on the topics no one else will, even if they make me a tad uncomfy. First off, Bank of America settles lawsuit with an ex-employee at a Tucson, AZ branch for not providing adequate facilities to allow her to nurse/pump or "express" milk for her newborn. Breastfeeding was always a taboo topic until very recently, and the lawsuit filed against BofA accused them of not allowing for specific breaks for this need or having a decent, clean spot to do this at work. I go over the news story from Tucson and release from the government, and I also share my stories of former coworkers having to deal with this issue in my older run down branch with no private restroom and a communal break room where I had to uncomfortably interact with my nursing co-workers, some of whom were my managers to get checks and documents approved during this time. I sympathize for the women all over BofA who had to deal with this, as I saw it myself. I also discuss how the lawsuit requires construction in BofA buildings to make a room for nursing moms, and how BofA's currently "Let's randomly close branches" is factoring into my opinion that I don't believe they will ever build 4300 upgrades to facilities for this purpose, instead becoming similar to the franchisee of my hometown Kentucky Fried Chicken, who closed down, instead of "upgrading" their store. (Weird analogy but it works) Plus, I talk to Ciera, a bartender who lost her job because of COVID-19, who found a second calling as an Onlyfans Nude Model. Ciera is a longtime follower of The Notorious Banker, and I helped recover $140 in fees for her last year. This year, despite the pandemic, she made a business decision to sell her risque/nude photos to the world via Onlyfans, and in 2 weeks, has made 125+ subscribers at $12/month. We talk about her journey, her opinions on sex work and how it's changing opinions of everyone. Plus we get into the good, the bad, and the interesting of being an object of many people's desires with her content, and how it's empowering for herself, and women altogether to have an outlet to make money. We also talk about why big banks hate adult content creators and her long term goals. We also tie it to banking & money in many ways, as everything ties to both! Great 30m interview. Welcome to the rebranded THE NOTORIOUS BANKER podcast. Same great content, Awesome new (And consistent) name. First off, Thanks to the dozens of followers who joined me @BankBetterGuy on Twitter after the BofA Balance Issue of Last Week. Welcome! Our main topic is a crazy interview Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan gave with Eben Shapiro of Time Magazine, which dropped on Sunday August 9th, which happened to be my 6th wedding Anniversary. Moynihan gave me a gift as he talked hilariously about how Bank of America "helped" so many people with PPP Loans during the pandemic. I'm not doubting their numbers, but more their commitment to smaller businesses in the last several months. He also talks about how Bank of America has "helped" people manage cash, the same cash unavailable to them at ATMs and Branches nationwide the last couple months. He pushed for cashless options and paying for your coffee with your phone in the interview, which basically sounded like an invitation to rid everyone of paper currency, seemingly ignoring many folks' dependence on it. Another hilarious point in the interview is what he dislikes in his BofA managers, which happens to be the very thing they are good at! Plus, I go off on a rant on his claim that he does Crossfit workouts. A gym rat like me explains why that is BS in the normal sense of the word "Crossfit". Good, funny interview with a funny guy. Plus, I share with you my opinion of a petition circulating of trying to get Bank of America to stop funding oil and gas drilling in the arctic (ANWR) in Alaska. I talk about how despite the political nature of the petition, everyone should look at it and make an informed decision to sign up or not. Being an America has those responsibilities in my opinion. Bloomberg Article Fox Charlotte Article Then we talk about a story of a crook in South Florida who used Bank of America to get $4 Million in PPP Loans that he fraudulently got to spend on his lavish lifestyle include a Lamborghini and Dating Websites. We talk about How Bank of America likely stepped over smaller businesses to give this guy his $4 Million and how I know BofA swings for the fences with high-dollar clients more and more. Ridiculous Story Tampa Bay Times Article Plus, I talk about the story of Luke in Philly and discuss how Bank of America denied a claim for over $1900 for him. He wrote a check to his landlord, the check was stolen, washed, and rewritten in much different handwriting, and Bank of America STILL CASHED IT, and then DENIED HIS CLAIM. We have talked at length about Bank of America's supposed $1B "Commitment" to help end racial inequality. I have said that I don't believe they will ever just "GIVE" a billion, and so far no news story has proved me wrong yet. Conservative voices on Twitter have taken this lack of clarity that BofA provides about it's giving to spin it that Bank of America really spent this money to fund Black Lives Matter in a Militaristic way for a civil war. While I think it's silly, as I don't believe BofA is spending nowhere close to that amount, their silence is only stoking the fire from the right side of the aisle. From leading conservative voices like Brent Bozell, who's tweet broke Twitter for me last weekend because of the sheer volume of replies and retweets he got for saying BofA gave it to "Marxism" to fringe heavyweight boxes like David "Nino" Rodriguez, a tomato can from my home area who never won a meaningful fight in his professional career tweeting similar theories. His boxing journey is hilarious to me BTW. I talk about their tweets, how it stoked anger that BofA is not doing anything to quell and why. I also talk about how the opposite side of the aisle is defending them from these tweets, yet are unaware that no money of that level will likely ever exchange hands, and how they are spurred on by a supposed "victory" that they had against BofA and private prisons, which was not technically true according to the Wall Street Journal It's a complicated podcast, but I try to tackle it! Big day in "The Notorious Banker" land as I announce a soon-to-be implemented change in this podcast and how it's presented, and how a bullying incident against me this past Friday only enhances my thought that this podcast should be presented in a different manner than it currently is. You will like the change! I discuss it in the first segment. Then in Segment 2, A big 180 on what we usually do. We praise Community State Bank, a local bank in Wisconsin for starting a promotion to get coins for their clients who sorely need them for their small business. CSB is paying $5 for every $100 of coins you bring in, with a max of a $500 bonus! They are taking a short term loss, to allow their clients to continue to serve their customers as normal, which I mention can cause a butterfly effect of bad customer satisfaction across many outlets. I praise CSB for doing what no big bank would never do, plus not to mention, a recently read internal website post at BofA mentioned silly alternatives for businesses to discuss making change for their clients...Yes, they mentioned Zelle (What?) I heard about this promo the day it was announced, and 3 days later, partly due to my laziness, I became the 2,402nd outlet to talk about it haha. CNN was all over it, plus a lot of local news across the country. Kudos to Community State Bank. You earned a vote of confidence from me! Keep up the good work. The Notorious Banker will continue to fight for better customer service for big bank customers. The big news of today won't change it! Contains Adult Language After Bank of America made decisions to close branches 2 weeks ago in Vegas and in Bakersfield, CA, I have been waiting for the shoe to drop in markets I am familiar with. It took over a week but it finally happened. After "Temporary Closures" were announced in Orlando, Miami, Atlanta, Tampa, Charleston, Dallas, Houston, San Diego, Phoenix, and other areas due to "Coronavirus Concerns" (Although later press releases mention "low foot traffic as another reason), Bank of America hit close to home. My home region of El Paso, TX was impacted by BofA closures on Wednesday July 8, and then a former customer of mine and friend, Jennifer, sent me an instant message of an hour long line at my hometown branch in Las Cruces, NM where the lobby was unexpectedly closed down as well on Monday July 13. Unbelievable. BofA recently stripped 3/4 drive up lanes of service capability as well, leaving one lane of drive thru in one branch for 110k people in this town. News Article about El Paso I discuss in the podcast about the fake reasons behind the El Paso closure, how lame the Bank of America Spokesperson is when releasing statements that hold no logic to the media, and what I really think is behind it, and I speculate what the hell is going on at the branch I worked at and was fired from. I'm curious as hell. In between talking about the local closures, I go on a mini-rant about an incident regarding a night out at the ballpark for the El Paso Bank of America team which wasn't supposed to include us, and how a certain market executive was caught trying to screw us over, leading to a mini-revolt against management. It's a fun story, and you'll hear how pissed I was about it. Plus, I will talk about the list of businesses that received PPP Loans in New Mexico that was released, and how Wells and BofA only gave out a total of 3 loans in my hometown, despite the fact that there were over 200 recipients of PPP Loans in Las Cruces. I discuss the only loan BofA gave, which was to a Las Cruces institution when it comes to food, and I give praise to local banks who helped out the rest of the businesses. Good job to you all. (Podcast contains explicit language, Listener Discretion is Advised) I made a prediction about 18 months ago Bank of America would love to "Try" to close down most branches in a market to see how clients would react and also to push their "alternative ways of banking agenda. Well, the mission has begun. Twitter was overrun with complaints of Bank of America being closed in Vegas and Bakersfield, CA during the beginning of July. Here is a report from 8 News Now in Vegas and 23ABC in Bakersfield that mentions the same issue in those two towns with the EXACT SAME STATEMENT from a "BofA Spokesperson". (You get to hear my banker impression again) They basically try to play the sympathy card and state that they do this "out of an abundance of caution for employees and clients" due to COVID-19 and allude to possible scenarios where employees had to call out to care for family members. This from a bank that once told a female coworker in front of me, "Ugh..again?" when she announced her 3rd pregnancy plus the fact that you can't take off on the first week of the month without a DAMN good excuse. Why the change? The thing not thought about? Both states do their unemployment system through Bank of America, and the huge impact millions of additional people frequenting those branches and their ATMs led to massive cash shortages. Couple that with CEO Moynihan's desire to cut back on some of those services (As he mentioned in a Fox Business Interview in July 2019) and you see a bank rather have pissed off clients because they are closed, rather than them being open and not able to give out cash. The branches don't have the capability at the branch level to facilitate more cash ordered thats not "forecasted" in the system. Sigh. I give examples of how those things happened over the years with me, and how the routines of ATM refills and cash ordering are set by the Bank which accounts for all variables, including the holiday that's been around for 244 years and the fact the 1st of the month is always busy! Plus I tell a little story about getting yelled at for hitting a button too many times, which proves my point that BofA monitors EVERYTHING, which tells me this was more calculated than unfortunate incident. Oh, and Atlanta, Tampa, Orlando, are some other cities with closed branches too. OMG. Listen to this today! The Notorious Banker has conquered NYC. Yours truly helped Victor, an essential employee in NYC recover $3490 from Bank of America which was stolen from him with the use of their evil product, Zelle. In the podcast, I discuss (again) my dislike for Zelle, and how it causes so many issues for people, including Victor. Using it only for family purposes, he wasn't an active user of Zelle. But when nearly $3500 comes out of his account which wasn't his transaction, they made Victor feel like he was to blame for the money getting lost, and they ended up declining him without ever looking at any evidence that he obviously got hacked. Cue yours truly. The Notorious Banker comes in like a bat out of hell, and showed Victor how to press the issue, seeking guidance from a lot of BofA leaders in NYC. After initially helping they decided to use a tired excuse they have used before on clients of mine: "Have your cell phone company write us a notarized letter saying you were hacked" Something BofA knows they don't or won't do for obvious security questions and liability purposes. When it seemed like all hope was gone, I used some "creative writing" to scare BofA into passing the buck to a person who could actually help and within a couple days, Victor got his money back. I hope to interview him for a future podcast, so stay tuned for that. It was exciting. Victor was the 900th person I helped in one year, recouping over a million bucks in the process. After over 100 episodes, The Notorious Banker has his first guest. My old Co-Worker Nancy stops by and chats about our time at Bank of America. (Warning, it's a long one.. and there will be a part 2, but it is fun and interesting) We worked together for over 3 years (2014-2017), but we didn't become friends until the day after I had a life-changing moment while vacationing in Las Vegas. In the podcast, we talk about how we got our start at BofA, old customers, how we knew that we were training customers to inevitably get rid of our jobs, and discussing how she feels about teaching her kids about banking. Plus we discuss how we became friends through two of the most stressful times in my life. A suicide attempt, and a home loan fuck-up that almost made me homeless and how the loan office played me and us like a fiddle, and how although we started at two different branches and BofA calls us all "teammates", we were rivals that didn't like each other. We also touch upon the benefits and perils of being bilingual in a branch and also why we still care about the banking world after leaving it and how people stay way too long in roles at the bank, which fucks up their customer service, because they stop caring. There will be a part 2 with listener questions, submit them today. I HAVE A NEW YOUTUBE CHANNEL WITH EXCLUSIVE VIDEOS AND QUICK HITS ON NEWS STORIES THROUGHOUT THE WEEK. Bank of America claims (falsely) that 75 percent of their workforce is working-from-home. With hours long hold times, and a lot of apathy towards customers in need, I dispute that claim wholeheartedly. Dean Athanasia, A big-time exec for Bank of America has his weekly column on BofA's internal website called "Dean's List" (How Original). In this week's edition, he outlined how Work-From-Home Associates are helping keep Bank of America operationally excellent (laughs). We talk about what's in his column How people who are basically glorified tellers are propping up the PPP Loan Processing for BofA Helping people in the call centers with coronavirus related issues, like forbearance on home and auto loans, plus fee refunds That Branch Managers are helping answer social media questions on @BofA_Help on Twitter and Facebook, potentially interacting with me, haha. How they are tasked with helping with Estate Services, a department SORELY in need of an attitude adjustment How they turn delightful, cheery Relationship Bankers into working for the collections and recovery department where they will facilitate repos and charged off accounts. Those people are usually hardasses I discuss how I feel this is a placeholder until they lay off people. It only makes sense that this is the case. Bank of America patted themselves on the back again. One week after "committing" to a billion dollars to end racial inequality, they decided to put out another press release touting the donation of $25 million to the Smithsonian Institute for "“Race, Community and Our Shared Future” Initiative. While I am happy Bank of America wants to bring this conversation to the public, they brought a weird partner in for that with their tax break...I mean donation. Smithsonian says, "The initiative will launch with a series of virtual town hall conversations among global and national leaders in civil rights, social justice and economic mobility to help drive meaningful change across policy. Programming will be presented nationally and in local markets, engaging people in communities across the country on issues relating to race and equity." So why do they need money? Why can't they use zoom or skype like we all are now to interact. Why do they need "programming" that takes time to develop? Plus why are they...? Having it on the Smithsonian Channel, a $5/month subscription service which I am sure is not readily subscribed to by minorities Having exhibits in a museum where 74% of museum goers are white, only 7% black and 5% Hispanic, and nearly half hold a master's degree or higher. Wow. I discuss how they can better have these conversations in their own communities using their own damn branches and not on a paid TV channel. I also discuss stories of how they tried these assembled events at one point to talk to students, where I was hung up on, despite the fact I was bearing gifts to give. Plus, I sing the song "There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Fly"...What? Plus, I also criticize Bank of America for not mentioning George Floyd's name, despite the fact all this philanthropy is because of what happened to him, and I rail against that weak sauce. Oh.. Plus the museum isn't open because of Covid-19. Sigh. Plus I give you a preview of my Premium Podcast Available with a $2 or more donation on Patreon: Sex Work and Banking, where I discuss issues the Adult World has with big banks and doing simple things like trying to get their money. Congrats to myself for making it 100 episodes. Tells you there is a lot to talk about with big banks! This topic is hard for me to talk about, because it's about racism and discrimination, but it needs to be told. Bank of America put out a press release Tuesday announcing a "Billion Dollar Commitment" to end racial inequality. When I woke up, I got 15 DMs all asking me if it was BS. Well... The Billion Dollars isn't a donation to charities (mostly) They do give to some medical facilities in Chicago, DC and LA, but Only 0.02% of it is going to that ($2 Million) to be spread out over 38 locations! The bulk of it is committing to lending to African-American owned businesses and for African-Americans to get home loans, or in other words, so Bank of America can give them money to borrow, which was the law already (fair lending) so black people can pay it back with interest. In other words, BofA is actually going to MAKE money on this.. Second, Bank of America is touting "Further recruitment and retention of teammates in low-to-moderate-income and disadvantaged communities to build on work the company has already done to serve clients locally." Meaning? They are spending money on themselves to hire and keep their people. What?!?! Plus, they are including an already promised and enforced pay raise to $20 an hour as part of their "Giving" here (from what I gather with the wording of it) Check out my twitter thread about it here! They refer to the death of George Floyd and Protests as "The events of the past week". Look, giving people jobs and pay raises internally is NEEDED AND DESERVED, but it's not charity because you worded it that way (thats why I hate BofA pr). There are some parts of the $1 Billion commitment I don't understand, but some are crystal clear.. $1 Billion is not leaving BofA's pockets!!!! To capitalize on George Floyd and the hurt the country is going through by giving people the impression you are actually giving money away is gross. I went off on the podcast. We talk about George Floyd on this podcast. We don't talk about the incident on Monday so much as to the environment that society is in with discrimination and frustration, especially as it pertains to dealing with banks when you are a person of color. I discuss my outlook on how we shouldn't paint all job lines with one broad brush, whether it's cops or lawyers or bankers even, yet it is our duty to point out when something is wrong. I get into detail about discrimination I've seen and felt for employees and customers during my time in banking, and I talk about vandalism of banks during this crazy time, and how I understand it, especially if you have had incidents with a big bank, as most lower class people and minorities do. I am not equipped to talk about all the stuff with the case, but I am equipped to discuss with you how banks make certain people feel, and that I can understand the pain given by banks which can add on to pain from other aspects of life. I send my best wishes out to whoever is hurting at the moment. Take Care I HAVE A NEW YOUTUBE CHANNEL WITH EXCLUSIVE VIDEOS AND QUICK HITS ON NEWS STORIES THROUGHOUT THE WEEK. Yours truly has done it again. The Notorious Banker has rescued $7600 from Bank of America for fraud committed on a customer. It was fraud which Bank of America did not want to refund despite overwhelming evidence proving it wasn't him! I received a random Patreon donation and message from "B" in Arizona, who searched for "BofA Fraud" on Apple Podcasts was sent to me on a Wednesday night while I was on a mission to buy the cheapest kitty litter possible, even thought I don't own a cat. He mentioned that while in Arizona, his account was used to cash 4 $1900 checks in Long Island NY one day, and New Jersey the next day without ever presenting ID. All 4 banks cashed checks without a hitch. When the fraud was eventually caught, they told "B" that they could not give temp credit and he would have to wait up to 60 days for the claim to process, despite giving a signature sample to a local police dept, getting a police report, and proving he was at work at the time, with backup from his employer as well! Reaching out to me, the message sounded similar to all the other fraud I have dealt with over the last few months, and I claim to my wife, "I bet I can get this done in 1 day" without seeing the check images. When I do see the images, I affirm that statement and help B write a detailed letter calling out BofA on their fraud protection and pointing out all the errors. B gets an exec's phone number, an apology and his money back in one day. B rewards me with a nice donation, which I am thankful for. Bank of America, you can't stop me. I celebrate my beautiful wife's 30th birthday on Tuesday with the story how my sales goals at Bank of America made me oversell a then college student Gabrielle with a checking account, which led into a credit card. That also led to my dreaded home loan with Bank of America in 2016. Learn how the overselling never really benefited me, but merely the branch so they can hit their goals. Listen to how getting her a savings account one day, given to my coworker Nancy led to a chewing out of me for not getting sales, which also happened with the home loan as well. Learn about the origins of my analogies "Bank Car Wash" and "Crackers (Bread Crumbs) in the meatloaf accounts" as well. Plus, I touch base with a follower who mentioned the money is missing from ATMs in Nevada. I elaborate on the shortages Bank of America ATMs are going through in some big states with a high unemployment rate, because BofA issues unemployment debit cards in that state. Learn why BofA does not give two shits about you not getting money, making you want to swipe your card in lieu of cash! News Story Here. The Notorious Banker has helped 3 people get PPP Loans through Bank of America's gauntlet this week. My sincere thanks to the following businesses who I helped get through the hard stuff and get these loans White Spider in Portland, OR Maine Academy of Gymnastics in Westbrook, ME Isabel O'Neil Bridal in Tampa, FL Working on 5 more across the US. We will work hard to get this done for these amazing American small businesses :) I discuss why BofA's decision to donate all PPP Profits kind of influences how hard they work, since they are working for nothing. Plus, I get into how their low-ball offers for applicants mimics how they do auto loans, or should I say discourages clients into getting auto loans from them. Finally, I discuss a news story in Tampa, FL where a customer held a "sit-in" for 6 hours to get help with a PPP Loan, and BofA BS'ed the client and the reporter with the phoniest email address ever: ppp_help@bofa.com. LOL Then, I get into the worst email a BofA exec has ever sent my follower. My friend Seth asked New Hampshire Market President Ken Sheldon for $14 for a monthly fee refund, and the reply back essentially tells Seth that because Amazon, Netflix, Peloton, booze distributors and baking companies (Not banking, BAKING!) are succeeding that using the Coronavirus as an excuse for a refund is not valid. Plus he mentions that since BofA is investing in charities nationwide, that they NEED Seth's fee to make that happen. He also mentions BofA PAYING for employees lunches somehow keeps them safe from the virus. (???) Here's a sample quote: "to broadly waive fees to even those that don’t need the help at this time would be impractical and disable our ability to help those in true need." You gotta listen to my bank voice version of this! Haha Email screenshots are here and here I HAVE A NEW YOUTUBE CHANNEL WITH EXCLUSIVE VIDEOS AND QUICK HITS ON NEWS STORIES THROUGHOUT THE WEEK. Vigilante Customer Service Strikes Again. One of my most satisfying rescues ever. Yours Truly, The Notorious Banker RESCUES $1200 from Bank of America and Zelle and gives it back to Taylor in Vegas. This was a stressful one, but we got it done. Taylor only uses Zelle for one person. One day, her Zelle is hacked, and $1200 is stolen. BofA tells her to wait 10 days (a lie) before filing a claim, and then denies her, citing they sent an authorization text. This is where I get involved. We reach out to Al Welch, who is best known for taking pics of him "building houses in a full suit with shoes not even the slightest bit dirty" and we get nowhere. So we reach out to someone named Chris Godbey. He seems nice at first: Email here Chris Godbey, the market leader then "ESCALATES" it to someone with absolutely no resources to help Taylor, and is stuck in an office on the phone for an hour to be told that they can't do anything without proof that she never got the text. When she provides phone records showing no text ever happened, they change their story, and say that it was "her IP address" that showed that she in fact initiated it. A claim never before heard. When She emails Chris Godbey again, she is met with a brick wall, citing the company line that she in fact got an authorization code for the stolen Zelle Transfer Email Here of Godbey's Robotic response Seemingly hopeless, Taylor and I contemplate giving up, until we reach out to 8 News Now in Vegas, and their Investigative Reporter, Vanessa Murphy with a letter that I crafted and had her send, CC'ing Bank of America in it stating all the bullshit things we know about Zelle and BofA claims. Bank of America bowed down like the dogs they are, and didn't even have the courtesy to call to say it was refunded. She had won. In two days, she gets her money back, and here we are celebrating! It's a long story, and I spent over an hour on it, because it was the most meaningful rescue in a long time, because we went from hopeless to finding a new way to scare Bank of America. Woke up Friday Morning to a press release from the Federal Reserve that was Retweeted out by Notorious Banker Follower @kentumin which mentions the suspension, or at least the recommendation to suspend Regulation D, an 80+ year old rule that actually impacts more bank customers now than back when. Ken's Story Long story short, it eliminates the penalty of using your savings account more than 6 times a month, a penalty that happens a lot more often with the advent of mobile banking and the relative ease of moving money around with that tool. I discuss my very first bank account when I was 15 years old, which introduced me to Regulation D to the tune of $81 the first month I had the account. How that delinquency actually delayed my employment at Bank of America ever so slightly, and how I used to find creative ways to circumvent the rule with the customers I opened accounts for. Regulation D was a big reason why I dislike savings accounts, and now, it's likely gone for good, although big banks don't have to abide by the recommendation! Short but very sweet news bite that impacts a lot of people Wikipedia on Reg D. I HAVE A NEW YOUTUBE CHANNEL WITH EXCLUSIVE VIDEOS AND QUICK HITS ON NEWS STORIES THROUGHOUT THE WEEK. With the Paycheck Protection Program loan program in shambles and awaiting money for the next wave of loans, I reminisce about 3 different small business stories I witnessed in my 13 years of Bank of America employment. - How Bank of America seemed to always close Asian nail salon business accounts, leaving some of them with the inability to bank. - How an ex-coworker and friend of mine had her side hustle, Cutesy Cakes, squashed by a irritable manager who tried to suppress her fiscal independence fight, writing her up and firing her. - How one of my favorite customers committed suicide 4 days after I put in a request to have a Small Business Loan Specialist call him to discuss loan options for his Hot Dog restaurant, Chicago SW. That one still haunts me to this day.... More info Plus, I talk about my upcoming 37th Birthday on April 21, and just think back to all the birthday interactions with my branch coworkers and how it was tension filled and uncaring the way the "office birthday" scene was created. We had a record breaking week discussing all things stimulus checks. People waiting for a long time, people blaming the bank and people just waiting to catch up on their bills. One follower tweeted at me about a weird credit that came with his stimulus check, and it blew my mind. Bank of America fronted him the money that he was overdrawn to make sure that he got the full amount of his stimulus I have never seen that before. Here's a video of me talking about it, with my mind blown. Now, all big banks are doing it, creating a payday loan style credit, which will be due in a month, when theoretically we can still be broke and in quarantine! It's insane. Story by Imami Moise from Reuters Here. I talk about how more overdrafts can happen because of autopays that will happen from certain companies like Netflix or Gyms. It's a scary notion, and I call for banks to permanently credit these differences! Plus, I talk about the PPP Loan and how the loan dollars dried up, with BofA customers stuck in "processing". Twitter was ablaze with angry people who were stuck in limbo, with BofA being accused of ignoring calls, emails and questions about what documents were needed to fund these loans. Now, with the money gone, BofA claims apps will still process. Reminds me a lot of my home loan process in 2016. I discuss my thoughts about how BofA impacted their loyal customers and don't give a shit about loyalty. So maddening. Newsday Story about PPP Here. MY PATREON Page! What a crazy last 4 days! Thursday Night - Bank of America suddenly lists requirements for the Paycheck Protection Plan Loan (PPP) on its site, and they aren't good. They require a longstanding "CREDIT" relationship with BofA on top of an account with them. Nearly all of the business clients I dealt with in the past couldn't get approved for lending with BofA, so they were being shut out. I was pissed.! In 3 hours, I got hundreds of thousands of hits on that post, and Twitter became madness Friday morning, with hundreds if not thousands of BofA Clients voicing their anger. 3 hours after that, CEO Brian Moynihan on CNBC mentions, they have "relaxed their requirements to getting the PPP Loan, eliminating a credit requirement" but the damage was done with all the bad PR. Score one for The Notorious Banker who's millions of tweets and RT's helped make that anger go viral! :) Article detailing Friday's Issue From the Inquisitr I also talk briefly about how President Trump and his Tweets and remarks supporting BofA caused work for The Notorious Banker to be screwed up because Twitter was a mess of pro and anti-Trump people arguing about non-bank stuff on a BofA tag...No politics, just my frustration by the flood of tweets. Plus, I discuss how Wells Fargo closed their PPP Window before it ever freaking opened on Sunday, and how it left thousands of SB owners stuck. I also talk about how they are blaming the government for punishing them by limiting their assets for their fake account scandal as a reason they aren't helping. BS! A really complicated affair. I decided on April Fool's Day to tell the most personal story of my journey. Wanted to share it after a poll about people drinking on the job STUNNED me on my Twitter! My relationship with alcohol is a weird one. I never drank in high school or college, and barely drank as I got into the working world. Wasn't for me. Then I worked at Bank of America and the stress-induced environment led to parties with co-workers that got people arrested and forced them to quit. I used alcohol to fortify my self-confidence, as I was overcoming shyness with women, sales, and the banking world. I partied too much as a kid, to the point of a nervous breakdown and starvation. After a move to Las Cruces, NM, I used alcohol to make me forget of the verbal abuse the bosses of Bank of America launched on us on a daily basis. I would go on these benders with an old co-worker, Annette where we would drink to forget how much we hated it. That manifested into a weird personal relationship we had that was around for years until my November 2015 Suicide Attempt in Las Vegas, spurred on by a text message from Bank of America managers on my vacation. I then talk about my fight to get rid of booze from my life then, as I only used it to numb the BofA stress. One relapse since then. After my niece died, and they refused to let me leave the branch because no one was around to open accounts, I binge drank the day after she died and didn't face the issue face to face. Last drink I ever had except for other Vegas trips with my wife, and that was the day I stopped caring about Bank of America. Bank of America was nearly the only reason I drank from 2005-2017. I'm a teetotaler otherwise. Thanks for listening. MY PATREON Page! Thanks for the 150 new followers @BankBetterGuy! I discuss a freaking insane news article from Business Insider that was shared with me by a follower (Thanks Jerry) about Ex Wells Fargo CEO Richard Kovacevich mentioning we need to "get back to work" in the wake of the Coronavirus Scare and that "Some may get sick, some may die". Learn why I think (as if you don't realize yourself, that he's batshit crazy. Plus, I talk about Bank of America's insane week of talking about Coronavirus Relief and the things they offer in their news release. Of course everything is on a "case-by-case" basis, and doesn't actually promise you anything other than you can request help (Doesn't mean you will get it.) Learn how everyone found out skipping 3 months of payments with no negative impact is good, but that you would owe 4x your payment amount in 3 months!!! Learn How California Governor Gavin Newsom lit into BofA, sending Twitter on fire, and getting me restricted See how British Comedian and CBS Late Night Host James Corder got into the debate with Tweets Here and Here I also talk about a claim made to me by a teller that BofA is burning them out of their hazard pay. I went on a rant about Bank of America's coronavirus gameplan. I have received several DMs from angry Bank of America EMPLOYEES (Not Just Customers) about the conditions in the financial centers, call centers, and other places. Some bank branches are told to wear gloves, some aren't allowed to. Some places Lysol can't be used, because people are allergic, and a lot of people have just had it with Bank of America's handling of it. I discuss their frustration, plus some ideas of how they can use all their fancy equipment to get people out of their bank to provide a first-class experience without having 30 people in close quarters in a branch. Plus, I talk about a leaked email I got from a Bank of America associate that mentions Bank of America talking points on what to say to clients who ask about coronavirus issues. You guessed it, It reads like a sales pitch. Emphasizing digital banking. Never saying that they wouldn't close, and feeding them lies about cleaning protocols, whenever we didn't have a true janitor in my branch the last 3 years. (Note, most property management companies handle janitorial work, not the bank) Plus "restricting travel" for bank associates who never leave the branch usually. Ok. go to twitter.com/bankbetterguy, and I will be glad to share the document in private. MY PATREON Page! I wanted to lighten the mood of all the CoronaVirus talk by talking about one of the 15 times Bank of America threatened to fire me. This story is 11 years old next week. I discuss how a random interaction with a stranger on a Thursday afternoon that took 15 seconds led to a terrifying 2 weeks where I thought I would lose my job. It all has to do with my big, chubby fingers. I am not kidding. Listen to how one of my insecurities almost made me job insecure. This is sadly a true story. Plus I talk about some ridiculous sh*t I saw on Twitter from a Wells Fargo PR spokesman, who basically sales pitched online banking off of CoronaVirus Tweet with the screenshots here Plus, I got a DM from an insider who is a banker at a BofA branch back east venting her frustrations because her manager just yelled at her for having a slow sales day in the midst of a Coronavirus mandated closure of a lot of schools/stores/etc. I discussed how she is forced to call people to invite them in, plus getting yelled at for not selling a credit card to a widow who was doing maintenance on her deceased husband's acocunt. Just when I didn't think Bank of America can stoop any lower... I got word from a friend of mine, Sebastian in tornado-riddled Tennessee about a radio talk show host named Phil Valentine who was talking to a caller who had their FEMA Emergency Disaster Relief Check held by Bank of America for 10 days! Utterly ridiculous. Here's my Tweet sharing the original tweet I located on Twitter In today's podcast I will talk about How Bank of America's "customer migration" leads to this issue. ATM deposit not being able to be reviewed by an in-person banker. How customer calling customer service may recieve an assoc. uneducated about current events/disasters and a policy to not remove any holds at all costs How Sebastian mentioned to me that Bank of America was the only company wearing logo-branded shirts in his area How I think Bank of America needs to handle disasters instead of just throwing money and dead social media links to their followers. How FEMA outlines you spend this check for an emergency need that Bank of America is unwilling to help with How Bank of America has a goddamn ATM on wheels that they bring out for disasters, instead of people actually willing to help with real-life issues (not all issues are cash related) This is a topic that pisses me off. Coronavirus is real, scary and has caused 9 deaths as of this podcast. I feel that it could be the biggest illness in a long while, or just more hype by an overactive social media. Only time will tell. However, banks are talking about it and people are talking about it. People are also asking me my thoughts on Coronavirus and banking. I decided to talk about 3 things in today's pod. The "possible" (speculation by me) things that a company like Bank of America can do with its employees. Read: Close bank branches like they already wanted and make call center jobs become work from home. The emergency interest rate cut, and the immediate desire to want to talk about loans for some reason in this time of the epidemic. Interesting Barron's Article that I refer to in the segment. My experience with Bank of America and germs. Wells Fargo made up for a decade and a half of treating it's customers like crap and overselling accounts, and creating phony accounts to hit their sales goals by giving those customers absolutely nothing, and giving $3 Billion to rich people who invested in it, and the United States Treasury. I'm sure looking for a positive in all this, but I can't think of one. Wells, who pushed their bankers to the brink of a nervous breakdown, called them names, and overall just made a mockery of banking, got off relatively light, and without a sincere apology News Release from Wells Fargo Here My podcast breaks down how goddamn nerdy their news release was, even renaming the scandal to make it sound like some rite of passage. I talk about how some of their past ways of "making it up" aside from the money are facetious, and hell, even make Bank of America look better by comparison. I then break down how a random media source covered it. I picked NPR (Link to Article Here) No political bias or anything...It was literally close my eyes and point. I talk about how we as consumers and how I, as a former banker look at this scandal and can't help but chuckle at how surreal it is. Wells Fargo give 10-figures as a result of this, and you, Mr. or Ms. Listener don't get a damn thing, unless you are a significant shareholder. Sucks to be you-- I mean all of us :( MY PATREON Page! I had to do this podcast due to the overwhelming DMs I got asking me my opinion on these two things. https://www.ft.com/content/a1a25664-38ff-11ea-a6d3-9a26f8c3cba4 https://finance.yahoo.com/news/bofa-bac-double-domestic-consumer-132001358.html CEO of Bank of America, Brian Moynihan discusses his desire to double Bank of America's Market Share in this interview. Learn why that doesn't mean more customers. It means less of you and more of rich people. Learn also why he thinks him visiting branches to learn more about the customers wouldn't work, and "be a distraction" as if he is widely known by the general public. Give me a break Plus I got over 100 DMs about this Video from Worldstar Hip Hop about a business owner confronting Assistant Manager of a BofA in Los Angeles, Christopher Gomez for cashing all of the checks for his employees, except for the African-American Employees check I will discuss how we were told to "verify" checks for non-clients, making it extremely uncomfy to be there, and then when we would try half-assedly to verify the check and not be successful, we could tell the person we couldn't help them. Learn the tricks they made us use to do this denial of service. Learn that most non-customers going to cash checks were people of color. You also will hear my thoughts as the audio plays out about what is happening, including the cops being called. Plus, find out why the manager's final excuse of the signature didn't match is an all-out lie considering you look at 100-200 sigs a day, and even the dumbest employee can find points in a signature that match the makers This video got 500k views online in one day and was shared to me plenty. Hear my take on this insulting video. MY PATREON Page! Wells Fargo execs may be facing charges in the next several weeks. The fake account scandal is being discussed and people might be led away in handcuffs. I am excited! I discuss what it means to even just have a perp walk for these guys, and how I was told how brutal the sales goals were at Wells by old colleagues. I discuss this in detail. Link to article below https://www.americanbanker.com/news/former-wells-fargo-execs-may-face-criminal-charges-in-coming-weeks PLUS I talk about the 8th anniversary of the most interesting week of my BofA career: The week I went to Dallas, TX to train to be a fierce personal banker. I discuss all the non-work stuff like how Bank of America decided that paying 700% more for a plane ticket was ok, despite me finding an amazing deal, and I discuss the food.. Oh, my.. the food. From bland late-night room service, to having to cross the interstate to get dinner, to being forced to go to walmart for bologna sandwiches, it was unique to say the least. I talk about why I had more than a half dozen "loaded mashed potatoes" one night, to nearly getting written up and having a stern talking to, because I decided to spend fifty cents more on a better milkshake. I'm not kidding. MY PATREON Page! Bank of America has a promotion the next couple of weeks where it will gift you $15 for using Zelle, Mobile Check Deposit and Online Bill Pay. Sounds good, right? Well, yes and no. Bribing you with money in order to get you out of their line is one thing, but in this podcast, I will discuss how they are using it to inflate their online banking numbers to prove they are a "digital bank" in order to lessen more teller roles and close branches. Consider this a push to get old people online to slowly phase out service to them and others where it's needed. Plus, I recap some of the interesting 2019 stories that Why Your Bank Sucks Covered and a look ahead to an interesting 2020! MY PATREON Page! Such a unique story. I talk about a subject that can be uncomfy to talk about: Diversity and Banking. I never accused BofA of not hiring a diverse group. Hell, an Indonesian Woman and a woman from Mexico were my first bosses. I was always so proud of having a unique support structure with my company. Fifteen years later, Bank of America is spending millions on an ad campaign airing during football to tell you that they hire people from all races, as if we didn't know that already. I talk about these twitter posts and commericals and the millions of dollars of spending Bank of America is doing to show you that it really likes other people not like them. Cringe-worthy. https://twitter.com/BankBetterGuy/status/1204810973808218112?s=20 https://twitter.com/BankBetterGuy/status/1206661283870756864?s=20 MY PATREON Page! How many write-ups did I have with Bank of America in 13 years? Probably 2 dozen. Although it sounds like I was a problem child, write-ups are done so often at Bank of America to hold down organic advancement based on performance, limit or eliminate quarterly or yearly incentives along with merit wage increases, and just to plain freaking show you who's the boss! Today's podcast is about an email I got from Mary Webb who asked me about disciplinary action at Bank of America. I answer honestly. I talk about the two write-ups in my time there which were the most ridiculous. I discuss a fun story where I got a write-up for someone in Dallas, TX 11 hours away losing something that once touched my hands. I also discuss a ridiculous incident where an insurance scammer faked an injury in my office, sued the bank, and I spent the better part of the day talking with an insurance investigator, missing a mandatory meeting that my manager wouldn't vouch for an excused absence for me. Haha. Fun Stuff. My advancement to success was stunted before I was 30, and by the time I was 35, I was number one in my market, and fired for no reason and without any write-ups current at the time of termination. Go Figure. MY PATREON Page! I am well aware that Bank of America and Wells Fargo knows about my project. How could they not? I have noticed a lot of weird things that Bank of America has done. They Started 4 Podcasts (I have 2) They sometimes proactively refund people before I fight for them They are trying to post local interest stuff nationwide on their social. But the last couple of weeks, they started this ad push on Twitter. Using influencers who do art, photography, mommy blogs, financial blogs, entrepreneurs, Youtubers, and other things, they are pushing #ad posts to Bank of America potential clients. Using the same robotic scripting, they aren't engaging people and with the help of some commenting by me, it's actually driving my twitter impressions by a lot. Thank you Bank of America for making me famous with your overspending!!! I break down some of the hilarious sponsored posts and posters.. BUT BREAKING NEWS: As I finished this pod, John Stamos, Actor mostly known for "Full House" was hired by Bank of America to do an online banking commercial for Bank of America with Josh Peck of "Drake and Josh" fame.. Bizarre and they have a combined 4 million followers. Time to make me more famous HAHAHA. Here's his tweets: https://twitter.com/JohnStamos/status/1204229538672021504?s=20 https://twitter.com/JohnStamos/status/1204228656538587136?s=20 MY PATREON Page!
