With two surprise guests, we work our way through the peak of DreamWorks animation, when every film became a franchise. Megan makes her triumphant return while Sutton makes his first appearance in another long episode. With analysis of Shrek 2, why the Penguins are the best part of Madagascar Escape 2 Africa, how Kung Fu Panda 2 took Po to the next level, the ways that How to Train Your Dragon 2 expanded the franchise and why Puss in Boots: The Last Wish might be the best in the bunch.0:00 Start6:40 Beginning of News27:09 End of News/Beginning of Shrek 248:38 Madagascar Escape to Africa1:01:36 Kung Fu Panda 21:15:08 How to Train Your Dragon 21:29:05 Puss in Boots: The Last Wish1:49:52 What have we been watching later

This week the Squad reviews Mark's pick of "Penguins of Madagascar". Thank you all for listening and we hope you enjoy the podcast.
Cue some of the finest (and flightless) agents the world has ever seen! Skipper, Kowalski, Rico and the adorable yet brave, Private. This week we look at the second successful spinoff from Dreamworks Animations with Penguins of Madagascar! With a diabolical octopus named Dave on the loose, it's up to our famous four heroes to stop him before he can exact his revenge on penguins everywhere. It is SUCH a random flick that was spawned from the Madagascar series of films but honestly, these boys were some of the more memorable side characters from those. I just so happened to catch it on a whim on Netflix a few years back and honestly? I was pleasantly surprised! As Madagascar grew into something that didn't really feel so new or original anymore, I am so glad they decided to give this crew their very own feature film. I am no huge Madagascar fan, but heck, I'm so glad they were at least given the chance to take over the big screen without Marty or Alex. With some clever writing, fun animation and special agent penguins being special agent penguins, this one is still a really fun watch. Can our favorite "high one-ing" batch of hatchlings stop Dave, get along with The North Wind and blast past these bad reviewers into the glorious future? Tune in to find out! If you enjoyed the episode, please rate and share! It goes such a long way and I am so grateful for all of the support. And hey, if you do leave a review of the show, you will be featured as well! The cheapie movie-tie in genre thrived on the Wii U, but today we're playing our last batch of low-effort platformers based on cartoons! Obviously, our crappy game correspondent Ailish Collins had to return to help us do justice to games based on SMURFS 2, PENGUINS OF MADAGASCAR, and SNOOPY'S BIG ADVENTURE (based on the 2015 PEANUTS MOVIE). Are these titles about the quality levels you'd expect, or are there some surprises? Find out now! Alright frankly I consider this to be payback for the Casino Royale fakeout, and I think we should agree to call it even on this. A few days ago, we reached a million downloads on Podbean. This is only really one app out of a few possible ones that listeners could use, but we decided to call this milestone and let you, the noble and loyal hogs, pick a movie, any movie, and we would review it. After over 400 replies, I picked the 12 highest voted and put them in 4 polls, the winners of which faced off in a final poll to determine that the winner would be.... the 2014 animated movie Penguins of Madagascar. Yeah alright. Find bonus episodes at our reasonably-priced patreon! https://www.patreon.com/killjamesbond *WEB DESIGN ALERT* Tom Allen is a friend of the show (and the designer behind our website). This week The TV Boys sit down to talk all things John DiMaggio. You already know he's the voice of one of your favorite cartoon characters so you might as well listen. Also, Jonny is sorry about the coughing.

We get into the spy genre this week with what might be the most ridiculous James Bond movie yet A View to a Kill. Watch a past his prime Roger Moore take on super soldiers Christopher Walken and Grace Jones to stop them from...we actually aren't sure what their plan is. Along with that Josh and Randal suggest the animated spinoff The Penguins of Madagascar and the bonkers Clive Owen action movie Shoot 'Em Up. In this episode of DreamMachine, Patricia and Arun discuss about the 2014 DreamWorks animated film, Penguins of Madagascar, a spinoff from the Madagascar series. Taken place after the events of Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted, Private feels left out from the rest of his penguin companions when he's being compared as the "mascot" of the group. While in Fort Knox to retrieve a discontinued snack food, the penguins are kidnapped and sent to Venice where they confront an evil octopus named Dave. But then they're rescued by a group of animal agents called The North Wind that's fighting Dave to protect the penguin population. The penguins then learn of Dave's evil plan that threatens their group and their fellow penguins and it's up to them to stop Dave before it's too late. Despite making over $373 million dollars on a $132 million dollar budget, it was considered to be a box office failure. Critics and fans gave mixed to positive reviews on the film calling it fun, fast, and brightly colorful, yet unoriginal, cliched, and lazy. What do Patricia and Arun think of the last film of the Madagascar series? Listen and find out.
In our 67th podcast we interviewed iAnimate Feature animation alumni and DreamWorks Animation Supervising Animator, Ravi Kamble Govind. Ravi was one of our first students to attend iAnimate and one of our first graduating classes. It has been remarkable to follow his growth and success since graduating. Since graduating, Ravi has worked on many feature films and commercials. Ravi worked on the feature film 'The Penguins of Madagascar' where he was promoted as character lead on the octopus villain "Dave" and was nominated for an Annie. He served as a character developer on the 'Detective Pikachu' movie, and has acted as one of the Supervising Animators on both the upcoming Abominable movie and Boss Baby 2 feature. Ravi is both passionate as well as humble about his craft, which made for a fun and informative interview.

The supremely versatile Lorne Balfe takes some time to chat about his fantastic new score to the new Dreamworks animation film, The Penguins Of Madagascar. Lorne explains everything that came with scoring a spin-off to characters who have become very familiar to audiences in another franchise. We discuss thematic writing, including Lorne's process for writing a theme. Beyond Penguins we get into a fantastic discussion of certain composing techniques and trends happening in the industry. We touch briefly on some of Lorne's other recent projects too like Skylanders and The Driver. All in all, this is definitely the most informative and engaging interview with Lorne on Film.Music.Media yet. Enjoy.
