Hey everybody, welcome back to another review here on MOVIE Morning. Today, I'm reviewing one of my most anticipated action, mid-budget films of the whole year: NOVOCAINE, starring Jack Quaid. The trailer for this film that came out a few months ago immediately put this film on my radar. It had a U.S. release just a few days ago and I had the chance to see it a bit early, relatively, here in the U.K. thanks to a Mystery Screening. So far, Jack Quaid's already been having a pretty good year because I was a big fan of Companion, the horror-comedy that came out at the end of January. So, is Novocaine one of the most fun action films of recent memory? Find out in this review!Novocaine:Directed by: Dan Berk, Robert OlsenWritten by: Lars JacobsonProduced by: Adam Friedlander, Joby Harold, Julian Rosenberg, Drew Simon, Tory TunnellExecutive Producers: Josh Adler, Paul Barbeau, Lars Jacobson, Matt Schwartz, Sam SpeiserMusic by: Lorne Balfe, Andrew KawczynskiCinematography by: Jacques JouffretEditing by: Christian WagnerCasting by: Bonnie Lee Bouman, Ronna KressProduction Design by: Kara LindstromArt Direction by: Kirk Doman, Sara Hartinger, Moray McGregorCast: Jack Quaid, Amber Midthunder, Ray Nicholson, Jacob BattalionSynopsis: When the girl of his dreams is kidnapped, everyman Nate turns his inability to feel pain into an unexpected strength in his fight to get her back.

[School of Everything Else 2025] All the way back in 2017 I put together an absolutely EPIC musical journey through the first eight years of the MCU, from Iron Man all the way up to Doctor Strange. So much time has passed since then (cue many gifs of Matt Damon drinking from the wrong Grail) and Marvel has not followed my sound advice about allowing each hero (and maybe a villain or two) to retain a theme that reprises with every subsequent appearance. However, that does not mean there haven't been some truly excellent scores composed, which got side-lined in the clickbaity rush to pronounce Marvel as being formulaic, failing or indeed signifying the baleful death of film. Here for you now is a compendium of themes and sonic explorations as Phase 3 draws to its epic conclusion and Phases 4 and 5 wend their way from the small screen to the big and back again. I look forward to a third volume of these shows sometime in the early 2030s, when the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, Secret Wars and whatever happens with Spider-Man and whatever inevitable soft reboot brings us to a new era of superhero cinema. 1.     The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (‘Louisiana Hero' by Henry Jackman) 2.     Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (‘Dad' by Tyler Bates) 3.     Spider-Man Homecoming (Michael Giacchino) 4.     Thor: Ragnarok (‘Main Title' by Mark Mothersbourough) 5.     Black Panther (‘Wakanda', ‘Warrior Falls' and ‘Killmonger' by Ludwig Goransson) 6.     Infinity War (Alan Silvestri) 7.     Captain Marvel (‘Main Theme' and ‘All Fired Up' by Pinar Toprak) 8.     Black Widow (‘Yelena Belova' and ‘Natasha Soars' by Lorne Balfe) 9.     WandaVision (‘Opening Themes: 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s' and ‘End Cretids' by Kristen Anderson-Lopez, Robert Lopez and Christophe Beck) 10. Scottish composer Lorne Balfe joins us to discuss his incredible original score for the latest addition of the Mission: Impossible franchise. Guest host Jon Burlingame returns to delve into Lorne's process — including some on-the-fly performances during his interview — and why he so badly wanted to record elements of the soundtrack in so many locations from around the world.“You sometimes have these choirs [that] have to sing in different languages. And of course they can do it. But it's just not natural to them. So that was one idea that I had: Wouldn't it be amazing to have the musicians from that city or from that town be part of this soundtrack? The same way that the crew, and the extras, and the actors are from that environment? Let's try to incorporate that world into our world.”—Lorne Balfe, Composer, “Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One”Be sure to check out the latest Mission: Impossible at a Dolby Cinema®, so you can enjoy the film in Dolby Vision® and Balfe's score in stunning Dolby Atmos®.Please subscribe to The Dolby Institute Podcast wherever you get your podcasts.You can also check out the video for this episode.Learn more about the Dolby Institute and check out Dolby.com. 杨超:6.5分 (《长江图》导演,《阿凡达2》等20期嘉宾) 现如今,华语电影粗糙的CG特效太多了,甚至都开始影响到一些非神幻制作,很多现实题材的影像也十分虚假。还有大量的“阴间绿”调色,始终让画面感觉糊了一层什么,似乎这样调色就显得好有审美了一样,这些都使得观众距离“真实感”渐行渐远了。从这个意义上,仅就工艺感,《碟7》值得推荐——它有着世界上最好的那类视听语言。 波米:6.5分 11年前,抖音的张一鸣在餐巾纸上给投资人画了他理想中媒体的样子。在他眼里,当时那些传媒都是垃圾,因为它们还要用户自己来选择看什么。而他,要让“算法”代替人做选择,理由很简单——人类不需要选择权。就像那首老歌,人民,不需要自由。11年后,汤姆·克鲁斯带着银子和故事,砸了2.9亿搞实拍,用“最过时的玩意儿”去对抗一张餐巾纸。于是,银子和故事,都没了。 节目流程: 节目总时长:01:11:27; 音频包含内容有(无剧透): 1)影片信息介绍; 2)主播为影片打分并阐述理由; 优点环节涉及如下话题(含剧透): 1)人物前史与主线剧情相得益彰? 2)视听语言保持了系列水准? 3)东方快车表意极其丰富? 4)选择实拍就是对抗“算法”? 5)序幕重新定义“炸弹时刻”? 6)“AI换脸”迭代了头套换脸? 7)黑客失业表达ChatGPT焦虑? 8)反派“加百利”就是AI上帝的信使? 9)“借刀杀人”AI其实赢两次? 10)算法谜语筒早已看穿一切? 缺点环节涉及如下话题(含剧透): 1)动作设计有失水准? 2)悬崖摩托“为跳而跳”? 3)喜剧干扰严肃表达? 4)心理惊悚完全失效? 5)AI焦虑痛点不强? 6)自动驾驶实属荒唐? 7)类型混搭造成冗长? 8)“英雄救美”百试不爽? 外延涉及如下话题: 1)回望《碟中谍1》作何评价? 2)如何用电影呈现“算法”的本质? 影片信息: 影片英文原名:Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One; 本片北美分级:PG-13级; 内地是否有删减:有,3处至少15秒(画面即本期封面); 片尾是否有彩蛋:长字幕后仅音效彩蛋; 内地是否有2D版:本片为2D电影; 内地是否有IMAX版:有; IMAX版有无特殊画幅:无; 内地是否有杜比版:有; 本期片目: 《将军号》(1926) 《扒手》(1959) 《警察故事1》(1985) 《碟中谍1-6》(1996-2018) 《侏罗纪公园2:失落的世界》(1997) 《007之明日帝国》(1997) 《我是谁》(1998) 《尖峰时刻》(1998) 《蝙蝠侠3:黑暗骑士崛起》(2012) 《壮志凌云2:独行侠》(2022) 《子弹列车》(2022) 《惊天营救2》(2023) 《碟中谍8:致命清算(下)》(已停摆) 开场曲:(Lorne Balfe); 结束曲:(Lorne Balfe); 音频后期协助:出雲;

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is a 2023 American spy action film directed by Christopher McQuarrie from a screenplay he co-wrote with Erik Jendresen. It is the sequel to Mission: Impossible – Fallout (2018) and the seventh installment in the Mission: Impossible film series. Dead Reckoning Part One sees Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt, whose IMF team match wits with a powerful rogue AI known as "the Entity". The ensemble cast also features Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Mariela Garriga and Henry Czerny. In January 2019, Cruise announced that the seventh and eighth Mission: Impossible films would be shot back-to-back with McQuarrie writing and directing both films. Returning and new cast members were announced soon after, and Lorne Balfe, who composed the score for Fallout, returned to score the film. Filming began in Italy in February 2020 but was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It resumed later that year and wrapped in September 2021 with other filming locations, including Norway, the United Kingdom, Italy, and the United Arab Emirates. It is the first film in the series since Mission: Impossible 2 (2000) not to involve J. J. Abrams in any capacity and is also the first film in the series to not be produced by Bad Robot Productions since Mission: Impossible III (2006). With an estimated budget of $291 million, it is one of the most expensive films ever made, and the most expensive in the franchise. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One premiered on the Spanish Steps in Rome on June 19, 2023, and was theatrically released in the United States on July 12, 2023, by Paramount Pictures. The film received widespread critical acclaim. A direct sequel, Dead Reckoning Part Two, is set to be released on June 28, 2024. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/popcorn-junkies/message

As the story unfolds, Hunt finds himself entangled in a deadly game of cat and mouse with a shadowy terrorist organization known as The Apostles. The plot is intricately woven, blending espionage, double-crosses, and personal stakes, keeping the audience guessing and engaged throughout.What sets Mission: Impossible - Fallout apart from other action films is its ability to balance high-octane set pieces with a coherent and engaging narrative. The chemistry among the cast members is palpable, elevating the film beyond its action-packed sequences.Mission: Impossible - Fallout raises the bar when it comes to action sequences, leaving audiences in awe of the sheer spectacle on display. Whether it's a high-speed motorcycle chase through the streets of Paris or a thrilling helicopter pursuit in the mountains, each set piece is meticulously crafted and executed with precision. The practical effects and stunt work create a visceral and immersive experience, amplified by the film's stunning cinematography. The camerawork effectively captures the intensity and danger, pulling viewers into the heart of the action.The film's musical score, composed by Lorne Balfe, complements the high-energy visuals with a pulsating and adrenaline-fueled soundtrack. It seamlessly blends with the action, enhancing the suspense and excitement. The sound design is equally impressive, with explosions, gunshots, and punches reverberating through the theatre, immersing the audience in every moment.Mission: Impossible - Fallout is an outstanding addition to the Mission: Impossible franchise, delivering an adrenaline-fueled experience that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats from start to finish. ReallyIt's crazy that we're at the sixth film in the franchise and it's the best of the bunch. How does that happen? Likely, it's because Cruise has been driving this franchise not just as star but also producer from the start, but it's hard to dismiss the fact that writer/director Christopher McQuarrie returned. His sense of this story, these characters, and this world seems to fit hand to glove as much as Cruise does. Join us – Pete Wright and Andy Nelson – as we continue our Mission: Impossible series with McQuarrie's 2018 film Mission: Impossible – Fallout.Here's a hint at what we talk about.It's like they take all the greatest moments from the previous five films and find ways to integrate reworked versions of them into this film. It's fantastic. We walk through the various action beats in this film, starting with the over two-and-a-half minute single shot of Hunt and Walker doing a HALO jump into Paris. And it only gets better from there.Hunt is dealing with Solomon Lane again, but we're also adding John Lark into the mix. It's a bit of a mystery as to who he is, but... not really. It's hard to buy Lark, aka August Walker, as anything but villainous. Is it the way Henry Cavill plays him? Or is he just written that way? Regardless, he makes for a great villain and works exceptionally well in this franchise. There's also the return to Julia as a key part in Hunt's life. It plays well, and clearly is an important point to Hunt learning to navigate his life when it comes to saving the world vs. saving those he loves. That plays not only into Julia's story but also Ilsa, as clearly something is developing here with her in her return.All in all, it's a great film that shows insane stunt work by Cruise, a broken ankle, great characters, a thrilling and engaging story, and a mystery as to where it could go from here. We love it. We have a great time talking about it, so check it out then tune in. Hello everyone! With this episode of the podcast, I begin a new sub-series entitled "TV Goes To The Movies", a topic intended to explore TV shows which migrated over to the big screen.   In mapping out a potential plan for the podcast this year, I felt motivated to explore this scenario in terms of musically what was and was not carried over from the television episodes of a particular series to its respective theatrical feature. For example, was the TV series' main theme referenced? Was the style of episodic scoring repeated? Was the series composer, or composers, hired on for the cinematic adventures? My plan is to feature music released officially on album from a selected TV series, followed by the films and see if we can identify recurring attributes.   The initial episode in this sub-series is fraught with danger and intrigue... that being MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE!   Title playtime index: MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE (TV, 1966-1973) (Lalo Schifrin, et al) - 00:00:00 MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE (TV, 1988-1990) (Lalo Schifrin, Ron Jones) - 00:36:28 MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE (Film, 1996) (Danny Elfman) - 00:44:15 M:I 2 (aka MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 2) (Film, 2000) (Hans Zimmer) - 00:55:37 MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 3 (Film, 2006) (Michael Giacchino) - 01:05:47 MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - GHOST PROTOCOL (Film, 2011) (Michael Giacchino) - 01:10:03 MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - ROGUE NATION (Film, 2015) (Joe Kramer) - 01:22:27 MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - FALLOUT (Film, 2018) (Lorne Balfe) - 1:34:22   Stay safe out there, take care of yourself and each other!    Connect with the podcast on Facebook and Twitter: www.facebook.com/ascoretosettle https://twitter.com/score2settlepod     Email the show at ascoretosettlepodcast@gmail.com

"Top Gun: Maverick" has gone on to become one of the highest-grossing films of all time since its release earlier this year. Now, the film is a bonafide Oscar contender for multiple categories, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (Tom Cruise), and many of its craft categories. One Oscar race where it's been the frontrunner for almost the entire season has been in Best Original Song for Lady Gaga's "Hold My Hand." The rock, power ballad plays over the credits but has its music weaved in throughout the movie, giving her composer credit alongside Hans Zimmer, Lorne Balfe, and Harold Faltermeyer.
