The majority of his career has been comprised of character animation at the feature level where he has worked at such studios as Blue Sky, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Sony Pictures Imageworks, Reel FX, as well as Big Idea Production. He's worked on such titles as Tangled, Surf's Up, Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs, and The Peanuts Movie. But as of January 2022, he teamed up with the likes of Keith Lango & Chris Wall, where he become the Animation Lead on the hit book series The Wingfeather Saga.

Valentin was born in Cadiz, Spain, and wanted to be a Disney animator since he was a kid. In 2012, he was hired by Disney to work on their box office giant, Frozen. He has been there ever since, working on movies like Big Hero 6, Zootopia, Moana, and Frozen 2. His latest job was as a supervising animator on Encanto, where he led the characters of Pepa, Camilo and Felix.

    In our 78th podcast we interview Dreamworks animator, Patrick Giusiano. Patrick has been working in animation for over 20 years. His passion for visual effects pushed him to move to London with his wife and three daughters, where he worked on heavy keyframe-oriented movies such as "John Carter," "Paul," "Scott Pilgrim," and more at Double Negative Studio. From there, Patrick moved to New York to become a lead animator for BlueSky Studios. Throughout the eight years he worked there, he experimented with more cartoon-like movies such as "Rio," "Ice Age," "Peanuts," "Ferdinand," "Epic," etc. Attracted by the palm trees and constant warm weather of California, Patrick finally moved to LA to work for Dreamworks Animation Studio. Since then, he has animated on "How to Train Your Dragon," "Abominable," "The Croods 2," etc. From these amazing experiences around the globe, Patrick became skilled in many different animation styles, ranging from hyper realistic to super cartoony.

Being somewhat newer to the industry, it was great to hear Andrew's journey from student to professional and some of his learning experiences.

Aliens, Shrek Forever After, Kung Fu Panda 2, Rise of the Guardians, and How to Train Your Dragon 2. Since joining Pixar he's worked on the short Piper, Finding Dori, Incredibles 2, and Toy Story 4. His interest in animation started while watching animated TV shows of the mid 80's and films like The Fox and The Hound and The Land Before Time. He graduated from Sheridan College (Ontario, Canada) classical animation program in 2000. Tal shares his knowledge of animation history and his experience in feature animation industry with iAnimate students from the first semester it opened its virtual doors.

    In our 69th podcast we interviewed industry veteran and iAnimate feature animation instructor, Jim van der Keyl. Jim has been in the animation industry since 1989, getting his start as an inbetweener on the Little Mermaid at Walt Disney Animation Studios. He later worked at Warner Brothers where he was nominated for an 'Annie Award' as best animator for his work on Brad Bird's 'Iron Giant'. Jim made the transition to CG animation early on during Osmosis Jones and later worked for such companies as Sony Imageworks, Dreamworks Animation, and Blue Sky. He's worked on such films as Shark Tale, Over the Hedge, Monsters vs. Aliens, Kung Fu Panda, Flushed Away, Kung Fu Panda 2, and Puss N Boots. Most recently Jim was an Animation Supervisor at Singing Frong Studio where he helped with the super successful feature film La Guerre des Tuques (English - Snowtime).

Ravi was one of our first students to attend iAnimate and one of our first graduating classes. It has been remarkable to follow his growth and success since graduating. Since graduating, Ravi has worked on many feature films and commercials. Ravi worked on the feature film 'The Penguins of Madagascar' where he was promoted as character lead on the octopus villain "Dave" and was nominated for an Annie. He served as a character developer on the 'Detective Pikachu' movie, and has acted as one of the Supervising Animators on both the upcoming Abominable movie and Boss Baby 2 feature. Ravi is both passionate as well as humble about his craft, which made for a fun and informative interview.

Conan is a 20 year veteran of the film entertainment industry and has worked on a wide range of projects from groundbreaking television, beginning with the pioneering computer generated animated series Reboot to box office movie hits like Madagascar 3 and Rogue One. After working on the first four seasons of Futurama and the first season of Genndy Tartakovsky's Star Wars: Clone Wars with Rough Draft Studios, Conan joined the CGI pioneers in Northern California at PDI/Dreamworks where he supervised teams in their pre-visualization department. Anytime you can interview someone who is excited about our art form and been in the industry for 20 plus years, you're sure to learn something.

    For our 63rd interview we spoke with ILM Senior Animator, Erik Morgansen. Erik has been working as an animator for more than 20 years. Erik's film career began upon completing the Animating Assistant Training Program at the Disney Feature Studio with work on 'Meet the Robinsons'. Previous to that he'd worked at a number of studios doing real-time animation, game cinematics, location-based entertainment and commercials. As a senior animator at ILM he's worked on such films as 'Rango', 'Ready Player One', 'Bumble Bee', 'Jurassic World', and 'Pacific Rim'. Erik's excitement for animation bleeds throughout this interview.

    In our 62nd podcast we interviewed past iAnimate feature student and current Pixar animator, Frank Abney. In addition to Pixar Animation, Frank has had the opportunity to work for Dreamworks Animation and the Walt Disney Animation Studio. During his time at three of the top studios he has been able to work on such films as Kung Fu Panda 3, Coco, Incredibles 2, Frozen, and most recently Toy Story 4. With a resume like that and Frank's own personal project 'Canvas', this made for a great animation conversation.

    In our 59th podcast we interview animation veteran, Simon Otto. Simon has been working in the industry for over two decades, and the majority of that time at Dreamworks Animation. He joined the studio in 1997 to work on their first animated film, The Prince of Egypt and most recently finished as the Head of Character Animation on the third installment of the How to Train Your Dragon franchise. Last month, Simon decided to leave the comforts of Dreamworks Animation to pursue personal goals. It was a real unique opportunity and pleasure to get him in on this interview.

    In our 58th podcast we interview technical animator Andy Kephalidis. Andy's career began 6 years ago at Ubisoft on the Watchdogs series and a Farcry title. While working on his yet to be announced project at Eidos Montreal, he has also taken up the hobby of Unreal Engine 4, which has quickly become his obsession. With the knowledge he has gained working in the Unreal engine, he'll be teaching our brand new workshop titled, 'Animation Integration in Unreal'. Andy's passion for the Unreal engine and the game industry as a whole is evident in this interview.

    In our 57th podcast we interview animator Brendan Body. Brendan has worked around the world, switching between animated features and Visual Effects. Some of his film credits include four of the Harry Potter films, Hellboy 2, Pacific Rim, and Legend of The Guardians. The theme of flight has run throughout his career, having brought to life various birds, pixies, dragons, a Hippogryph, and giant flying kaju. Brendan will be teaching in our Creature animation workshop 3, Flight School and Fantasy Creatures. This along with his love of animation made this a fantastic interview!

Jason is a Calarts Alum who got his start in animation learning how to draw and traditionally animate from his uncle, Glen Keane, a long time Disney veteran. Jason is an animator currently directing an independent short film. He recently left Blue Sky Studios after 5 years, animating on such films as: Epic, Rio 2, The Peanuts Movie, Ice age 5, and Ferdinand.     In our 55th podcast we interviewed Bruce W. Smith. Bruce has worked in the animation industry for for over two decades, is the creator of Proud Family, worked at at such studios as Walt Disney Animation Studio, Don Bluth, and currently at Warner Bros. He's been a character designer, viz dev, director, and supervising animator. He helped in the character design of Dr. Facilier for The Princes and the Frog, a character he also was the supervising animator on. This is a podcast we won't want to miss.

    In our 54th podcast we did a roundtable interview with four artist, three of whom are iAnimate.net instructors, about an art festival that took place a couple months back in Łódź, Poland called Promised Land. Promised Land was the brain child of Sebastian Kalemba & Paweł Mielniczuk, two talented artist at CD PROJEKT RED. This art festival brought speakers from around the world from such studios as Guerrilla Games, Platige Image, Blizzard Entertainment, Industrial Light & Magic, Ubisoft, and CD PROJEKT RED. It looked like a great event, full of creativity, and at a beautiful location. Because it included a handful of speakers who are our instructors, one being the co-creator of the event, I thought it would make for an interesting interview.

    In our 53rd podcast we interview Bryan Engram. Bryan is the Co-Founder and CEO of Brazen Animation in Dallas, Texas. Prior to Brazen Animation, Bryan enjoyed many years as an animator & director of studio animation at Reel FX. Brazen Animation recently made a big splash in the animation community with their 'Tempest' teaser. It was a great demonstration of the studios artistic and technical skills, as well as it's ability at story telling. It was great to speak with Bryan about his career and philosophy, and how it has shaped what he wants to do there at Brazen.

So it was great catching up with him and hearing about his experience as a student and his transition to a professional animator at one of the largest gaming studios in the world. Sebastien has worked on three Assassin's Creed titles (Freedom Cry, Rogue, and Syndicate), and most recently Ubisoft's For Honor.
