We’re in the home stretch of Season 2 but things are getting *very* hairy... First off, Michael’s Mom is the Red Angel (let that sink in) – but it ain’t all hugs and kisses. Secondly, remember Leland? Who had his brain poked at through his eye by a periscope of some sort? Well he’s fine (that’s a relief!) but he is acting a little strange. There is yet another red signal DISCO has to check out where Pike is confronted with a fairly unfair choice. Oh, and evil supercomputer Control? It’s back, baby!

Vrvilo directed the Short Treks episode “Runaways” and “Perpetual Infinity,” Episode 11 from Season 2 of Discovery.

I'll analyze key plot elements, take a deeper look at Picard’s relationship with certain members of his crew, discuss our favorite Easter Eggs, and share what we’re looking forward to from the rest of the season.

The DISCOVERY DEBRIEF panel — Chris Clow (Movies.com, Comics on Consoles), Rachael Clow (Biology PhD candidate), Zaki Hasan (Zaki's Corner, MovieFilm Podcast), and Cicero Holmes (Spawn On Me Cast) — is back at full strength, bringing the final two episodes we needed to catch up on as we prepare to take in season two's penultimate episode! In this recording, the panel tackles episodes 11-12 of season two, “Perpetual Infinity” and “Through the Valley of Shadows,” and discusses everything from CONTROL's potential connection to the BORG, to CAPTAIN PIKE's decisive moment in choosing the direction of his fate. The canonical ramifications of these two episodes seem to be very high, and further add to the larger narrative that encompasses the STAR TREK franchise's original Captain. Plus, we discuss the developing relationship dynamics between HUGH CULBER and PAUL STAMETS, MICHAEL BURNHAM and SPOCK, the identity of the RED ANGEL, and more! Plus, we go on a MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE tangent in the early going, and catch up with ZAKI on what he's been up to! Music by Bensound.com. Perpetual Infinity. Finally, Dr. Gabrielle Burnham and her time suit have been captured. However, a larger question remains. Despite being the Red Angel, Dr. Burnham is unaware of the seven signals. Now the crew of the USS Discovery must decide what to do about them. To complicate matters, Captain Leland has been taken over by Control and is after the data collected from the sphere encountered in “An Obol for Charon.” How much of the sphere's data on artificial intelligence is necessary for Control to become sentient? Was Leland able to obtain it? In this episode of The Edge, hosts Amy Nelson and Patrick Devlin discuss the character of Dr. Gabrielle Burnham and 950-plus personal logs that reveal the early family life of the Burnhams. We also contemplate the existence of Control within Leland, how the sphere data can lead to a sentient AI., and the fate of that data. The full complement of the shuttle pod crew (Brian, Jared, Kayla, and Matt) made it this week to discuss “Perpetual Infinity.” The episode was well acted, with major kudos going to guest star Sonja Sohn as Dr. Gabrielle Burnham. We have questions about just how the Red Angel suit works, and why it’s tethered to a point 950 years in the future. The newly AI rebuilt Leland also raises a number of questions about the end goal for Control, and of course we discuss the (Borg) elephant in the room about the way that Control seems to be taking on a physical host.

In episode 23, Angelo and Nicole look at the Star Trek trope of the depressive time-traveller, linking Star Trek: Discovery 2x11, “Perpetual Infinity” with the Star Trek: Voyager season four two-parter “Year of Hell.” Topics include: time travel as academic mastery, the scientific method, Chakotay’s authority issues, Control as messianic proto-Borg, and the evolution of sadboi Tyler.

Star Trek: Discovery – Season 2, Episode 11: Perpetual Infinity For episode 36 of The Star Trek Discovery Podcast, Ruthie and I discuss Season 2 Episode 11 of Star Trek: Discovery, which is titled, Perpetual Infinity. This episode was written by Alan McElroy & Brandon Schultz, and it was directed by Maja Vrvilo. She directed the first Short Trek. Discussion on Perpetual Infinity begins at 8:37… We begin the podcast with feedback from the previous episode. We get into this episode 8 minutes 37 seconds into the podcast. Fred’s Pics! We have been blessed yet again with pics chosen by Fred from The Netherlands, including the cover image. We thought last week’s experiment was a big hit, so we’re going to do it again, and let Fred’s pics do the talking for us! Before you look at pics from Perpetual Infinity… We both loved this episode, although maybe not quite as much as last week’s episode. We’ll be back next week with our next episode. As always, your feedback is essential to this podcast! We’ll be having a short feedback deadline most weeks this season, due to scheduling issues. We’ll cover more feedback from S2E11 Perpetual Infinity, so do not hesitate to send in your feedback if you miss the deadline. For Star Trek: Discovery S2E12, the deadline to get in your feedback is Friday, April 5, 2019, at 6 PM Eastern/5 PM Central or 11 PM UTC. You can submit feedback via the feedback page, Facebook Group, Twitter, you can email startrekgsm at gmail dot com, or call the GSM voicemail at (216) 236-5449 and leave us a message there. Make sure to mention you’re calling The Star Trek Discovery Podcast when you call. I’m also podcasting on The Walking Dead. Because of this schedule, we are trying to get our episodes down to a more reasonable podcast length. To help with this, we’d like you to focus on a few key points from the episode, rather than discussing everything about the episode. If submitting a voicemail, please try to keep your calls to 4 minutes or less, with an absolute maximum of 5 minutes. We would like to keep our episodes under 2 hours! Please help with that! Links to us… Want to participate? Join our Facebook group! And follow us on Twitter! And don’t forget to subscribe to us on Apple Podcasts! While you do, we’d appreciate it if you can leave us a review, hopefully, a 5-star! Or, if not, a rating will do!!! And we’re now on Spotify! And now, here’s a visual look at Perpetual Infinity!

When it comes to hoping that this series will eventually get on track, resistance is futile. Shout out to Leland, head honcho of Section 31, the most public covert operation ever. Despite being shot up with novocaine, which I hope to acquire as I watch the remaining episodes this season, I provide my review of last Thursday's episode.  Leland as Borg: https://bit.ly/2JZ9JqE Also available on YouTube
