POPULARITY
As is sometimes the case, part 2 is even bigger and better than part 1... more Key Changes, and this playlist that we asssemble for you is quite honestly, epic.
This week's episode includes some all out diamonds in the rough, and some lumps of coal. "Not My Day Job" features our curation of a bunch of songs from people who are famous for something OTHER than singing. You'll recognize some and we'll reveal some other new mysteries. These are famous actors, comedians, athletes, etc., who just happened to get the itch, thought they could sing, and used their stardom to record a song or two. And a few of them actually got a decent amount of airplay! We'll give them all some time on the podwaves tonight...
We hash through the best songs that have either "Angel" or "Demon" in the title. This is an interseting playlist, but before we put that mix tape together for you, we've got the debut of our Bean Bag Studios Suno Songs! And we listen to the "Drunk Speed Mafia," aka, the Mix Tape Mafia at 0.5 speed! Hilarity ensues.
We had so much fun a few episodes ago with our "Burying the Lede" songs that we needed to bring back the theme with a twist! We are curating the best mix tape playlist of all songs that contain the name of the album that they are on... but they are NOT title tracks! You'll catch on quickly...
After some NFL takes and a discussion of whether or not the Deshaun Watson trade is the worst in sports history, we dive into some of the all time most disapointing "knock off" products that we ended up with, because they were chepear, healthier, or just available. We're talking Hydrox cookies, Loc Blocs, and Go Bots. Then we discuss the shocking news that Capri Sun is going to be selling it's drinks in bottles and we wax on about the iconic packaging like pouches and cannisters that "Make" certain products what they are.
Taken straight from our Mix Tape Mafia Foodies crossover episode, our first side step into the PP Test Kitchen takes on some sort of strawberry pop tart nerds white chocolate fusion thing in a pint. Why do they keep trying to make this Topped thing a thing?
It's a special episode all about Food! We're playing songs with food in the title AND we're stepping into the Pappy's Products test kitchen as we introduce and review FIVE new products inspired by various songs throughout the night. Grab your popcorn and your shopping list and get ready to crunch, munch, and dance!
We've got an awesome episode where we dive into the best songs where the title is NOT in the chorus or the hook of the song. Instead, the artist has "buried" the title somehwere deeper in one of the song's verses or elsewhere. This is one of those episodes where you only the Mafia can give you the proper deep dive that this Spotify mix tape deserves.
Tread carefully... Perhaps, we could have called this episode "Creeps & Peeps," since the majority of these songs ended up being creepy older dudes singing about their lust for underage girls. SO, we are by no means endorsing the messages behind some of these tunes. But we thought it would be interesting to explore some of the hit songs that we all used to like, but they certainly haven't aged well. It could be politically incorrect references to race or gender identitiy, or it could be, you know... grooming and statutory rape. Either way, you couldn't write these songs today. But we've got a tightly packed 37 minutes of comedy gold, as we lean into the cringiness of it all.
We're broadcasting for the first time, outside on the Villa Papagna 3.0 -- it's an old school C&C (with new skool takes)! As we do every couple years, we give you some fresh takes (rants) on the Olympics, including which sports we could compete in and which sports should be added (pool H-O-R-S-E, anyone?). Also, a recap of Jason's destination wedding weekend in the Vermont mountains, and some fresh travel takes coming off his honeymoon to Antigua, including an airport terminal edition of America's Favorite Game, "Who Sucks More?"
A tight twenty minute banger! Why are the Minions and Murder Mystery Parties still in my life? Also, boneless chicken wings have no business calling themselves "wings."
To kick off wedding week, the boys are in studio to curate the best (and worst!) dance songs that you're bound to hear at most weddings. They work through the bangers for you, building an incredible spotify playlist that includes both the dance floor fillers AND the dance floor EMPTIERS!
Did you ever hear a song and think it sounds exactly like a certain artist, but it's actually just some random singer or band you've never heard of? Well, we have a theory that nobody's disproven yet, so it must be true––the random singer was just part of the cleaning crew in the recording studio where the famous band played and just took it upon themselves to steal the sound, essence, or snippets leftover on the cutting room floor. They laid down their own record and voila! With that, we give you one of our greatest episodes... "Sweeping the Studio!"
The interim producer joins the C&C boys for round 2 of renaming American sports teams. We take another handful of teams from the four major American sports that we think have mediocre or crappy team names, and come up with much better ways for them to re-brand themselves. This time around, we fix the Las Vegas Raiders, the Atlanta Braves, the New York Jets, the Brooklyn Nets, and our own local Carolina Hurricanes. Pour the moonshine and sip into this chock full of genius.
Fans of professional American sports are either going to love or hate this episode but make no mistake, we are making the world a better place, once again. Jason and Anthony go through a dozen of the worst-named teams in pro sports and give them a naming makeover. You always wondered why the Lakers and Jazz kept their lame names that were tied in to previous home cities or what the hell is a guardian?? Well, imagine living in a sports universe that included a little bit of Tampa Smoke, Hollywood Elite, L.A. Aftershock, and St. Louis Arch Enemies! We also kick off the episode with a round of America's favorite game, "Who Sucks More" and ask why the likes of Chelsea Handler and Tenacious D are "Still in My Life??!"
Drake's cakes has always been the Pepsi to Hostess' Coke. Their swirly chocolate snack cake, the "Yodel" has hit the shelves with a new flavor... Boston Cream. It sounds awful but it showed up in the test kitchen and well, we have a job to do. Will we be pleasantly surprised? Listen to find out. Then, it's Pappy's Products FIRST as we bring a formerly reviewed product back into the test kitchen for a new rating after further review, and ultimately, a brand new member of the Pappy's Products "4 Gobbers" Hall of Fame.
We're back in studio and this time we're just taking it easy... quite literally. It's time for a playlist composed of all (what we deem to be) the best songs with the word "easy" in the title. If you like a little 80s duet from Phil Collins & Philip Bailey, maybe some commodores, a little Sheryl Crow, Jason Aldean, or the Eagles, you're going to enjoy this mix tape! This episode also features quite a bit of new tunes and hidden gems that you may not be familiar with, but will likely end up in your Spotify rotation.
We can't figure out why this is called Butterscotch "Scoop" and not simply "Snickers Butterscotch," but we have a job to do... for the people. That won't prevent us from coming up with a much better idea that we're presented with here from the folks at M&M Mars. Have a listen to find out our idea and hear what we think of this new candy bar.
¡Hola, el nación de gobsters! The Mafia is putting together a sneaky fun mix tape of our favorite songs that feature a foreign language word or phrase in the lyrics. The 80's will be heavily represented by the likes of Mr. Mister, After the Fire, and a debate over Madonna's best song that includes spanish words in it. We may also get a few guilty pleasures from the 90's and 2000's. Faisons du rock and roll!
The boys are back with another elegent entry into our array of episodes inspired by songs that feature a uniquely specific instrument. Violinterludes is an elegent colllection of our favorite songs that feature a violin or strings section. We'll hear from The Verve, U2, Dexie's Midnight Runners, Taylor Swift, Guns 'N Roses, Evanescence, and more!
To celebrate our 200th episode, and kick off our next 100 episodes, we're doing a crossover celebration with the Mix Tape Mafia's 100th episode, reflecting on some of the breatest bits and music from the past 300 episodes in Bean Bag Studios.
It's a special 100th episode and it's a crossover celebration with the 200th episode of Cheesesteak & Chowder. We reflect on some of the great moments in the first 200 episodes of C&C, along with some of our greatest Mix Tape Mafia songs, playlists, and Titanium Jackets from the first 100 episodes.
We take a long (but distinguished) dive into the gluttony that is season 6 of Love is Blind, with our trademark comedy gold and C&C takes on all the hot messes from the Charlotte season. We've also got a new sponsor to Bean Bag Studios... the Tushy! And we've shoehorned in some "If We Ran it," some "Get Your Ass Back on Track," some "Why are you still in my life?," and a compelling traffic-related round of America's favorite game... Who Sucks More?

Without "part threes" we might not have Return of the Jedi, Christmas Vacation, or Balboa and Creed jumping, splashing, and embracing on the beach in Rocky 3. Will the third and final installment of "Pre-Chorus" be the best one? Certain members of the Mix Tape Mafia may believe so! Dive back in for some Mike & the Mechanics, Night Ranger, Simple MInds, and a whole lot more from the 80's. Plus, some Bruno Mars, Fitz & the Tantrums, Bee Gees, and gobs of bangers.
It's been said by many that when C&C comes up with a great idea, the world takes notice and generational innovation usually follows. This episode is all that and a bag of chips. Hang with us through some great sports Hall of Fame debate and some exceptional ways we would change and improve all Halls of Fame in sports. Our penultimate take may be the best - a new proposal to fix the calendar, with the invention of "Leaptober."
Jason's youngest offspring, Colby, joins the boys of C&C for a Star Wars fantasy draft, where we pick rosters of heroes, villains, droids, creatures, planets, and space ships. Get ready to nerd out!
It's been a while since we had a mix tape so epic that we had to split it up into multiple episodes. We give you part 1 of "Pre-Chorus," a playlist near and dear to all of our hearts, especially the interim producer! We nomiate and assemble the absolute best songs that feature a strong pre-chorus... that energetic component that departs from the verse, and builds momentum that leads into the chorus of a song. We've got MJ, Dua Lipa, Alanis, Van Halen, some Mix Tape Mafia faves, some new plays, and we even hand out a Titanium Jacket!
Jason and Anthony are rocking with the OG MTM to bring you an incredible playlist of the best songs affiliated with specific sports teams. Listen and find out!

This week on Pappy's Products, Jason, Anthony, and Hunter test out the brand new "Bakery Series" line of Dunkin' Iced Coffee in a can. Three flavors - Cake Batter Donut, Coffee Cake Muffin, and Brownie Batter Donut
From Jet Airliner to Little Red Corvette, this is playlist that travels well, with all of our favorite songs that feature a vehicle in the title. Plus, as always, one (or two) shandys!
A banger playlist coming at you courtesy of Eddie Money, Leon Bridges, One Republic, a chick named Lavigne, a dude named Levine, and a whole lot more -- best songs with "Home" in the title!
We create the perfect mix tape with all the best songs about "making a change." Featuring REO Speedwagon, Sick Puppies, Chris Stapleton, Huey Lewis & the News, Augustana, Billy Joel, Exposé, and more!
We wish we could back and recover the lost recordings that were destroyed in the great coconut water incident of '23... but we can not. We've recently sent kids off to college and have been nostalgic about turning back time. Sooooo... here is a great episode constructing a playlist of all the best songs that talk about harkening back to the good old days!
It's a signature C&C fantasy draft with Pais, Pais, Tori, and the interim producer. We are each drafting a 5-movie roster consisting of a time travel movie, a rom com, an alien movie, an original theme song movie, and a flex.
Tori is back in studio to join the guys for another review in the test kitchen. This time, we've got three new flavors in a new line from Pringles called "Harvest Blends." Is it as gimicky as it sounds? The truth is in the canister! Listen and find out.
Jen's is BACK and our guest podder and ice cream expert Tori Corr is back to dive into this salty buttery maple pancakey ice cream goodness.
We suffered a tragic technical and creative loss in Bean Bag Studios during the great coconut water incident of 2023. Long-story short, we lost a couple recorded episodes that we had in the can after the death of our primary BBS laptop/hard drive and iCloud misfire. But HAVE NO FEAR, Gobster Nation... we are professionals and we are here to bring you a quick cliffs notes version of the comedy gold that was lost on those epsisodes. So enjoy a nice, compact 20 minute recap episode of the "Lost Recordings" before we get our asses back on track with the new studio equipment as we head toward 200...
After a few weeks of mourning, Jason is finally ready to dive into the ruins record-breaking season flaming out in round 1, which leads to some classic C&C discussion about the problem that is the road-team advantage in both the NHL and the NBA. We discuss the replay changes we'd make as Czar of sports and Pete Davidson gets the treatment of "Why are you still in my life?"
We've got Dance Fever! NO, there's no Deney Terrio or Adrian Zmed on this episode, but we DO have a sneaky good playlist that we explore with all the best songs that feature the word DANCE in the title.
It's the latest flavor of the crispy/flaky/light & crunchy Cheez-it Snap'd.
Do you like your mix tapes wit or witout? Well no worries (and no onions) here, because we've got both for you! We discuss, debate, and nominate the best curated songs that contain either "with" or "without" in the title.
It's the follow-up to our NIGHT Fever episode, with the best songs featuring the word "Day" in the titlej
The success of the new MLB pitch clock has us theorizing what other sports and elements of life in general could be massively improved (if we ran it) by adding timers and penalties. Also, some ig NHL playoff predictions (spoiler alert: we're picking the B's)
In this week's episode, Anthony recounts his recent jaunt through Jason's hometown where he had some chowder and lobster ravioli in Boston's North End. Jason goes on a rant about how lobster ravioli always comes up way too short in the lobster department. Then Jason dreams about Lamar Jackson coming to the Patriots and his Bruins winning the Stanley Cup. We play a few rounds of America's favorite game, "Who Sucks More?" including one about dudes on an airplane that Anthony forgets we already played out once before!
It's a super bowl preview for Anthony's Eagles! We also talk about the Bruins and the remarkable 2015 NHL Draft. Then we reveal some of the crazy new pro bowl games, including some of the lesser known games that didn't make air on the braodcast, but we have them for you on C&C, thanks to a secret fax from commisioner Roger Goodell. We also talk about what constitutes a "supergroup" and discuss the new nominees for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and we scratch our heads over why these acts are considered Rock & Roll, let alone, hall of famers. It's a jam-packed old school Cheesesteak & Chowder!
It's our annual discussion and quick picks of the entire NFL playoffs. Some gloating of Anthony's first seeded Eagles, and Jason has to bring up his NHL-leading Bruins. Then of course, some business getting for The Addams Family... once again. AND... a very big announcement in the BBS universe!
It's an old school C&C holiday episode as we brag about our first place sports teams, exchange gifts and reflect on 2022.
