What's up, dudes? Remember when Sears, JC Penney, and Montgomery Wards would print wish books? Chad Young from Horror Movie BBQ and Michael May from After Lunch do, and they're with me to look through the 1985 Sears Wish Book! From clothes to jewelry to toys, it had every gift idea you could possibly want! The book starts off with a nice little poem, spread out every fourth page. What follows immediately are pages of value gifts, including an actual suit of armor. Then there are red pages of gifts under $100. Merry Christmas indeed! Next comes women's fashions followed by jewelry and girls attire. Of course, boys clothes, shoes, men's wear, and accessories come next. After the Christmas decorations are a wide variety of appliances, clocks, dish ware, and sports gear. The best part of the entire publication follows: toys! After the Super Powers line, GoBots, Transformers, and Voltron are highlighted! The relatively new Sectaurs line gets a whole page, and both GI Joe and He-Man get double spreads! Return of the Jedi gets a page, and M.A.S.K. Shares a page with Wheeled Warriors!Subsequently, Barbies, stuffies, TVs, and cameras get entire sections devoted to them.Dual cassette decks? Check. Oversized fleece terry pullovers? Got ‘em. Masters of the Universe soft and snuggly slippers? Definitely! So grab your Omagles, pick up your pool cue, and scour through this episode on the 1985 Sears Wish Book!Horror Movie BBQFB: @HorrorMovieBBQTwitter: @HorrorMovieBBQIG: @horrormoviebbqAfter LunchGive us a buzz! What's up, dudes? CM Chuck from Just Another Friday Night and Jeff Loftin from Lost Christmas join me to talk about '80s action cartoons we wish had Christmas episodes! From Transformers to GoBots, from Voltron to M.A.S.K., these cartoons delivered action and adventure to the max! Unfortunately, they also left out the holiday cheer. Many of these cartoons were epic, leaving us wondering why they didn't include a Christmas themed episode. In fact, a few even had comic Christmas issues in the UK. We get into and pitch ideas for Transformers, Thundercats, M.A.S.K., COPS, TMNT, Voltron, Dungeons & Dragons, SilverHawks, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, GoBots, Captain N, Visionaries, Thundarr, Inhumanoids, and Dino • Riders! And that's just to start with! There will definitely be future episodes on this topic.Ice and snow episodes? Check. Other holiday themed episodes? Got 'em. '80s Christmas action? Nope. Not even a little. So grab your blaster, hop in your transforming vehicle, and fight along to this episode on '80s action cartoons we wish had Christmas episodes! Go-bots on store shelves in 2024 proves The Fallen shall indeed rise again in Episode 352 of the Twincast / Podcast. The episode begins with a discussion of not The Man of Iron, but a Comic Edition 2-pack of Xaaron and Flame piquing the interest of the crew. A number of repaints are discussed next with Legacy United Animated Motormaster, Slipstream, and a Leader class Buzzsaw with Soundwave and Rumble accessories being particular standouts. Talk of some disappointing Go-Bots repaints as well as Deluxe G1 not-Missing-Link Prime and Quake then leads into a not so disappointing review of Skybound's Transformers Issue #9. A brief look at a transforming Lego Bumblebee set has the cast wondering how far the line will go before the overcomplicated transformations of 2009 toys get revenge and wreak devastation on the Twincast in this week's "40 for 40" segment. As usual, Bragging Rights brings the show to a close.

Have you ever wondered how to cook McDonald's Chicken McNuggets in excruciating detail? I know you have. Well, Episode 127 has the answer. It comes in the form of a wacky McDonald's training video from 1983 complete with classic food item puppets, ominous music, cheesy jokes, and stereotypes galore.Healthcare and hospitals are a 24-hour business in the 2020s. A century ago it was a far different story. On Cape Cod in the early 20th century it was common for the Hyannis Hospital to close during the winter with people needing to find ways off-Cape for their needs in the off-season. Merry Christmas, Slackers!Christmas was so much simpler as a kid. All it really took to make you happy was that one big Santa gift. And boy, did the 70's & 80's have some great toys! This episode I recount some of my favorite toys from each year - I have a weirdly specific memory when it comes to Christmas - going from 1976 until about 1984. From Remco's McDonald's Playland (and figures), to the Millennium Falcon, to the King of Pop, those Christmas mornings were full of joy & gratitude, that somehow transcended the obvious consumerism on display. Sure, there may have been a year or two with no real “must have gift”, but even then the excitement of unwrapping even the most mundane of gifts (who doesn't like Christmas socks?), was palpable. At some point Christmas becomes so much more about the giving than receiving, but there is that odd time in your mid teens where the shine of the day is just a little less than it used to be. Having a house full of teens now, I can see it happening, and it is such a bummer. It is also a part of life and growing up - I just hope they recognize the cure for that is the giving! Now on to 2024!
Great show this week. This one has everything! Gobots, Flea Markets, Clones and MORE! I don't know what else I can say to you that will have more of an influence than saying Gobots! Just listen already. It's way worth it! Big Musical Number this week!
Shocktober is here! Our first spooOOooky reading of the month is Emily Carroll's THROUGH THE WOODS -- her first nightmare-inducing printed collection of short horror tales, which was published in 2014 after a few years of Emily creating (and continuing to create!) horror webcomics which often use the medium of reading-on-the-internet in very clever ways. Those can still be read online at https://emcarroll.com/ , and the incredibly acclaimed THROUGH THE WOODS collection of print-only stories is available wherever books or sold or through your local library. --- What else are we reading? Mike loves the first issue of SWAN SONGS -- a new anthology series of one-shot stories about endings, written by W. Maxwell Prince of ICE CREAM MAN fame! Justin loves the new Stan Lee comic biography I AM STAN by Tom Scioli of GODLAND and GO-BOTS fame! --- Follow us on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/theveryfinecomicbookpodcast/ and send us questions to potentially read on-air via IG DM or via email at theveryfinecomicbookpodcast@gmail.com Mail us things c/o Justin Decloux, Unit 1010, 3230 Yonge St, Toronto, ON, M4N 3P6, Canada Thanks for listening! A long time ago (last year) in a streaming service not so far away (Disney+), there were a number of series released that took us on adventures in the Star Wars galaxy. Now, Geek Salad is back to go over those entries in episode 233: GoBots Killed His Cousin (Part 2). Join Andy, Mike, Joe, and Katherine in the second part of episode 233. Whereas the first part had been dedicated to the various Marvel offerings to Disney+ from 2022, part 2 is dedicated to the Star Wars series. So sit back and prepare to go to hyperspeed.
